Horrible bouncer who was very rude and unprofessional. Do not come here unless you are a local. Bouncer wouldn’t give us his name, thinks he is better than customers. Disgusting attitude, hope he fixes it and management take action.

Gorgeous building. Apparently circa late 1500s. The pub a few doors down even older. Food was classic pub fare but really decent. I do love a good old English Market town and pub 🍻

I have been here many times, tonight I found a lady with long blond hair very rude to costumers.

Attended the Soul All Dayer recently and it was fabulous! The DJ was brilliant and kept us dancing all day & night! The bar staff were really friendly and service was quick even though loads of people at the bar. A great pub and will definitely look out for future events.

Careful if you’re parking there. Bought a ticket for £4 when I parked for less than an hour. A few days later I received a £100 ticket. Scammers

Went to soul day last night, was very good, the bar staff worked very hard, but how ever , me and my mate both brought 2 drinks each , and same time different prices , a little concerning ,

Do not use the CARPARK !!! these guys are SCAMMERS !!! you will pay for the parking and you will still get a £100 ticket !!!!, I reported them to ombudsman, but I don't think they will do anything as this is election year, stay away !

Absolutely amazing! Came for Mothers day the staff went above and beyond for not only myself but my mother and grand mother. Atmosphere was lovely and suited a range from my daughter 7 through to my 90 year old grand parents. The staff were very accomodating and were really helpful even though it was mother's day and busy. The food was deliscious fresh and beautifully served. We also had a lovely little touch of a mini bottle of Prosecco and chocolates for all the mums as well. Great selection of drinks, starters, main and desserts. We have driven down from Birmingham and will definately be returning when visiting family. Thank you!

Visited today unexpectedly and decided to try their Sunday lunch and what a surprise I got. Sunday roasts at pubs are a very difficult thing for me to review as I do a very good one at home 😁 so it's very hard for a pub (who churns then out) to compete and whenever I take the risk of ordering one, I'm frequently let down, but not today. I have to say it was one of the best pub roasts I've had in a very long time. Everything came out freshly cooked. Thick slices of tender meat, beautiful roast potatoes and perfectly green greens. I even experienced a freshly cooked Yorkshire, which is very rare. To top it all off, the staff were super friendly and helpful and they also welcome dogs. This pub struggles slightly with its appearance from the outside but today, it couldn't be faulted. The dining area is tastefully decked out and they also have a large garden, which is unexpected being on the High Street. Whoever the chef was today, I suggest you hang on to them

Didn't eat there went for Xmas drinks. They had a DJ so plenty of music and dancing. Service was good, bar staff are friendly.

Visited this pub for a late weekday lunch. The draft cask Old Speckled Hen was cloudy and tasted foul. It was "off". The draft St Austell Tribute tasted like very dilute malt vinegar. The bottled Abbott Ale from the fridge was so cold it was tasteless. The Gammon Steak and the Crispy Pork Belly sounded nice but the chef was AWOL "expected back within the hour", so we found "The Star" just along the road with lovely well-kept cask ale and prompt food.

First time gor me, great well run pub with good barstaff and okay prices.

The female door staff are absolutely awful, I came to the pub last night to be told I’m not allowed in because i apparently verbally abused the female women who I have never ever seen in my life! I don’t live in Hoddesdon and I’ve been in that pub for 5 minutes before and never said a word to anyone. She was very very rude.

More of a review of the "door staff" they employ. I saw a guy on a bench in front of pub down a bottle of alcohol and then stagger past lone doorman without any challenge. I pointed it out to DS but was ignored. After having a smoke I went to go in and was asked for ID by the female DS who returned to door. I asked why I needed ID as I am 39, I asked if they were going to scan it which is common practice in some places. I was then asked why I was being obnoxious whilst she was eating peanuts and breathing peanut breath in my face. Was told I wasn't a regular and she wanted to see (fair enough). I then asked why the drunk lone male off the street never got asked. They both then started playing pass the buck on that one. I walked off as I don't waste time arguing with incompetents.

I was totally disappointed with the service we received. there was a girl called Paige with long blonde hair who was extremely rude and unwelcoming, I have been advised that the lady I am talking about is actually the manager of the pub ! I would not recommend anyone who wishes to eat or drink at this place due to rudeness and lack of customer care.

I came in last Friday evening with friends, order a glass of wine which wasn’t cold. I further asked for ice as a result, one of the staff told me in a rude manner that I should walk to Tesco and get my own ice if ai wanted some. Also, a friend ordered ale it came to us cloudy and vinegary sent it back, second one came the same. Just not impressed with costumer service.

Forgot how lovely this pub is. Had a pleasant time.

A lovely village-style pub with occasional live music (it can get pretty crazy), lovely food and a great atmosphere. Good place for a night or a quiet pint.

Do NOT PARK IN CAR PARK - was at a baby shower was told “only put a few £1 in and the rest will be sorted “ absolute LIE - now with £100 fine. Manager never returned my calls - never helped me out with the fine. Wouldn’t ever go again

Fantastic staff. A big mention to the landlady Charly. Very young, but she knows what's she's doing. Old head on young shoulders.

Absolutely love the white swan brilliant atmosphere staff are great especially paige food is delicious never had a bad experience. The quiz nights held on Thursdays are so much fun and weekend entertainment is great especially the Friday night DJ.

Even though the times on Saturday says it closes at 1am, female door attendant refused entry at 12am saying they no longer allow entry after 12, and in a rude manner.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch. 2 adults, 2 children and a toddler. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly even though they were busy. Would definitely return.

I think they need to look into who they employ as a manager absolutely rude and face like thunder not very welcoming for your first time visit to the pub I don’t get why they have cardboard in the fridge doesn’t look good at all Tables were sticky The only thing I enjoyed was the roast dinner New barmaid who had started was very polite and good at her job they should make her manager

Update on previous review31/7/22 Cant recommend today. Worst roast i’ve had in a long time. Beef was like leather and potatoes weren’t fully cooked. Luckily i had someone else finish my meal. Stopped at this pub a few months ago for the first time whilst shopping. It was a great first experience, hence why we chose to eat here again whilst in the area. The staff are great, very friendly. My wife had a burger which she devoured in minutes, I had the nachos sharer (who shares nachos? 😂) and cheesy chips, very generous size portions, very fresh and very tasty 😋😋😋. I highly recommend this pub/restaurant, very spacious, very clean, we will be back soon. Thanks to all the staff for making it a great visit and please pass on our thanks to the chef for a job well done 10/10 Thanks again Perry & Claire Barnet 😘

Dissapointed with my last two visits. Ale was not as good as it should have been, with either cloudy or 'sweet' beer indicating it not at its best.

Great place to eat and drink in Hoddesdon town,has screens to watch sport and also has live bands, it has friendly staff, it is an old inn with original oak beams

Decent pub, with outdoor seating

I liked this placed until I was bullied out because I banged on the table to VengaBoys Boom Boom Boom Boom.. Bar staff ganged up on a single woman who was no threat or bother to anyone, and made her leave because she was smiling and having a nice time. I would not recommend to anyone who is looking for a safe environment or somewhere to have fun. Avoid avoid avoid!!

Horrible atmosphere stopped doing food because they think new owners of the salisbury arms will undercut them trying to be a sports bar great shame used to like going in the swan Since my last review the place has been refurbished and changed hands . Lovely food and a good atmosphere. Enjoyed. Myself in there

As a coeliac I struggle to eat out, however not today. The staff were amazing and knowledgable about the disease. Made suggestions and chatted with the chef and lunch sorted. Very yummy! Highly recommend

I'm giving this pub five star s . The atmosphere is very good in football match s .the go to pub to watch it in . A nice outside erea . But I do thinking if your gonna be loud and that better to get a outside table .

I had an absolutely delicious Sunday lunch at the white Swan and it was so fresh compared to other sunday lunches I've had and what a lovely welcome I recieved from Paul and a lovely girl who complimented my outfit (I didnt catch her name) they made me really smile and I believe a great waitress and waiter really makes the difference. Thank you for a wonderful lunch I had such a good time.

This is a brilliant pub. I've only been on Saturday nights. It has live music, great staff and a friendly, lively atmosphere. Whether you are someone who prefers to sit, dance or chillout peacefully out the back. This place will welcome you. The age range covers 20s to 70s. With a large portion being 30 something's.

Love the way the place looks, the fact there are sofa seats against the wall is also a bonus.The cappuccino and arangino I had was very tasty.. Service was a little on the slow side, but enjoyed it though, would definitely go again. Love Italian, 👌

First time visit and have a very good feel about the place. Polite staff, tables cleared quickly.

We sat by a lovely real fire. We only had a simple lunch, jacket potato with beans & cheese which was cooked well and came with a little salad. If asked, I wouldn't have had the oil on the salad. Overall nice atmosphere, friendly staff.

Great local pub in an amazing medieval building! Lots of vintage book on shelves in case you get bored waiting for your food by the fireplace. Also!...very nice staff and the best Onion Rings tht England ever produced 🤤
