We had a nice Seaview room, the room was fine, but with no air conditioning it was very hot. There was a large walk in ŝhower. The food in the hotel was good and served large portions, because it was so hot we sat outside, although the hotel was on a busy road, the Seaview was great. All the staff were brilliant, they was always happy to help and gave great customer service. We will return.

Very clean and spacious rooms, friendly staff, great food at the restaurant with outdoor seating with reasonable prices. Only thing to mention is that it’s on a busy road with quite a lot of noise from the road. The floorboards on the first floor need some work - squeaky creaky movement kept me awake when people were coming and going up and down the stairs.

My husband and I stayed here and absolutely loved it. Really lovely friendly lady greeted us on reception and showed us to our room and the room itself was very nice. Decent sized bed with everything we needed for our stay. Bathroom was a good size and had a bath as well as a shower and the usual complimentary shampoo and shower gels were supplied. The bar area was nice and plenty of seating areas and the outside area was lovely to sit outside and admire the Seaview in the sunshine. Breakfast was fantastic and a decent size not to much that you'd feel full and just enough that you don't leave much left on your plate. What really made our stay more enjoyable was the hotel is really dog friendly and we were able to bring our Dog into the bar while we enjoyed a drink in the evening. Perfect location right opposite the beach and there is a car park located at the back of the hotel with an entrance which means you can park up and walk straight down to the main reception area and not have to carry your luggage down the road. Really enjoyed our stay and have booked again for another visit. Thank you for a fantastic stay, all the staff we met were lovely and looking forward to coming back again.

Welcoming staff. Nice toilet and good room. The floor creaks and the fire door in the hallway towards the small elevator has to be kept shut as its door slams loudly. Cracks under the door facing the hallway must be covered to reduce noise from the hallway. Nice starting point to experience not only the old town, but also other good neighborhoods in Hastings.

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals were all fine and well presented although the evening menu was a bit limited with "no specials". We had dinner there for both nights. Breakfast was very good and the price for a cooked breakfast included toast, tea/coffee. Hotel guests get a 20% discount on breakfast prices if they add it to their room. We opted for a sea view room which was on the 3rd floor unfortunately, the windows were not that large. The room was of reasonable size with a nice bathroom. The hotel has a nice veranda at the front with outside tables/chairs looking across the road to the sea and pier. The hotel does suffer some noise from the main road outside. It is not far from the centre of Hastings. Overall we were very pleased with our stay at the White Rock Hotel and it was excellent value for what we paid. Certainly, would definitely go back there again on our next visit to Hastings

Had lunch there today. I had the ploughman's, normally served with crusty bread. My husband's ham platter. Was the same. ( One slice of thin ham).. Instead was given slices of what seemed to supermarket bread. My grandsons sandwich, the Same. It was dry, certainly not the standard of last summer that's for sure. Won't be eating there again

I WILL NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN!! had an issue with the housekeeping so reported a complaint to the manager. 2 managers happened to storm into my room at 8pm, saw there was clearly an issue & the first thing they said was “well im concerned your eating in our rooms”. WOW! so rather than acknowledging the problem & apologising, you’d rather defend yourself & throw the blame on a guest who has spent quite a bit of money at your hotel. lifted my things from my bed while i was in the bed, then stormed out whispering..extremely unprofessional! walked past the manager as i was leaving the hotel & was given a very dirty look & a shrug of the shoulders? how do these 12 year old adults become managers?! when approached again i was again told that the issue was my problem. they also have a policy to not change the bedding ect when it is purely stained..what else are they not servicing in these rooms? the light shades are full of dust! dont make the same mistake i have this hotel is not worth you opening your wallet for!

Came here last year and couldn't praise it enough recommended it to everyone..... what a difference 12onths makes ! Stopped for lunch. Not so good anymore. The Stilton ans Broccoli soup was hald the amount and tadted tinned. The bread which was crusty bloomer before hand been replaced with cheap sandwich loaf, and dry all around the edges ! Same with the fisherman's platter..... ok at best. Staff are still pleasant though and helpfully.... Can recommend any more though ! 😢

Such a shame to score so negatively on this - could have been a lovely breakfast today if the member of staff 'looking after the restaurant' had actually wanted to be there. it was apparent to us from arrival when she failed to so much as turn around let alone acknowledge us with a. pleasant 'good morning' - first rule of hospitality surely is to be hospitable. The tables were a mess, nothing tidied away and rubbish on the floor - weren't sure where to sit - so just found the only table vaguely ready for a customer. Breakfast itself was fine - nice in fact - just the experience soured by a lack of pleasant professionalism. I did go to the hotel reception on leaving to see if I could get the Managers details as I assumed they would like the feedback, but despite ringing the bell, nobody came to attend the desk. Shame, as such an iconic building in a lovely location - but unfortunately there was no sparkle here on this occasion. We were not guests and simply went today for a special breakfast as they advertise the restaurant as open to non residents.

I very much enjoyed my stay there. Lovely hotel, good location, great service and warm and welcoming reception team. I liked the large bathroom, light bedroom and comfortable bed. I was not crazy about the pillows and their room service menu could have done with a soup, a burger option and maybe fish pie…it was mostly sandwiches and salads! Nice copious scrambled eggs on toast…I had a really lovely stay there! Breakfast menu named after their staff which is a lovely touch! One negative: poor wifi from the rooms!

Avoid!! Let me say this first. If you're happy to wait 15 minutes to get a drink, then the view you get whilst drinking is really quite superb and with that goes all the positives I have to say about the White Rock. **As you're guided up the ever narrowing staircases upon arrival, the hallways you encounter on each floor look like scenes from the Shining. I asked the night porter "is this building is listed?" and he said "It should be!" The room: Incredibly loud. When someone walked past in the hallway the noises were deafening and sounded as if they were coming from all directions. The bed slanted and was all extremely uncomfortable. Thankfully the heat in the room was enough to distract me from the uncomfortable bed. The shower was okay to be fair. The Service: The bar staff are dithering and when it gets busy the 3 staff they have seem to magically turn into 1 member of staff as the other 2 go out back and on their phones. When i was eventually served the service was adequate. We were booked in for 2 nights at £99 per night and after the first night we decided to check-out. When checking out i wasn't even asked why I was leaving a night early. My guess, they have people check out early all the time and they're just used to it.

We have been going to the White rock for twenty years, we normally go for breakfast on Sunday morning and for an early dinner sometime in the week. We have become increasingly disappointed. The place desperately needs maintenance, and is dirty, some of the cobwebs in the bar have become old friends! The staff are a mixed bunch. They mean well but are poorly trained and led, the owner on a Sunday morning often wanders into the restaurant stands around eating a bowl of cereal, however busy the staff are he never lifts a finger. We finally had enough a couple of weeks ago only three tables full in the restaurant and the staff just wandering about. It took ages for the breakfast to come, we had to chase them up twice, they forgot my wife's order and the toast was stone cold, my beans had a skin on them where they had sat on the ' pass' for so long, the plate was swimming in water from the undrained poached egg , We asked to see the owner (they don't bother to have a restaurant manager/supervisor), we did get a refund but her attitude was it wasn't her fault - couldn't get staff - sacked the chef - etc. She said if we didn't like it don't come back! This place has gone so down hill! A few months ago they even changed the sauces to a really cheap tasting one. So we take our own bottle of HP. We won't be going back until they clean the place and get their act together

We would recommend this hotel. It was situated next to the western end of Hastings town centre which made it a nice stroll all the way to the old town. Sheets and bathroom towels nice and clean. Bedroom and bathroom were very clean. Plenty of sockets in bedroom and well spaced apart. Powerful spacious shower…just the thing to wake you up in the mornings bed was so so comfortable and for me that sufferers with a crumbling spine it was heaven itself. The hotel is very tired. Rooms are on the drab side. Carpet tiles in bedroom need replacing as they are lifting. The tea and coffee facilities were poor and not replenished. Got supplies from foyer. The staff working the bar were totally uninterested in serving. One in particular girl looked so unkempt with her loose hair that looked like it hadn’t seen a brush or comb in weeks, chipped black nail varnished bitten nails and no smile or welcome. Had to wait along with a couple of other guests to be acknowledged as 3 of the staff were finishing their conversation, then you be greeted with a “yes what do you want”? Lemonade pump giving out soda then bar not having back up bottles…we shouldn’t rely on machines! Hotel menu unappetising to read was just a copied piece of well worn & torn paper shoved between a loose band in a folder. Will admit that the food served ( not at breakfast ) was cooked lovely and was hot unlike the breakfasts which were luke warm! And swimming in water…see photo And coffee was burnt. Toast came out of the kitchen a good while after food delivered. Lounge chairs very dated and drab. Television in room volume kept going up and down on its own. Good picture though and plenty of channels to watch.

An old, but lovely hotel. Friendly owners & staff. My room was spacious and my bed was comfortable. Could have done with a few more coat hangers, but everything else was fine. The breakfasts were delicious. The cafe/bar was a reasonable area to eat & drink, if a bit short staffed at busy times & some staff members were very slow to offer to serve me. The sun terrace is a delightful place to sit in the sun & enjoy a drink & a chat with friends. It also occupies an enviable position on the seafront right near the pier. I even had a pigeon who visited me most days, he'd sit on the window ledge, outside my room, looking at me for a while & then fly off. lol! I must also just mention that I think it was HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL of the owner's wife to shout at & belittle him in front of staff & customers in the cafe/bar one day. I was shocked & horrified at what I heard & saw!

Such a shame that this place has gone downhill from previous visits. We holiday in Hastings twice a year and used to find the hotel a wonderful place for meeting local friends and relatives. But, this latest visit was diabolical. The tables on the terrace needed clearing when we arrived. Our food order took ages to appear and twice we sent one of us to see where it was. When it eventually came it was not served all together and when our 4 orders were on the table every dish was stone cold. We sent the chips back to the kitchen but they were soon returned....luke warm. This place has really gone down and I understand there is a lack of waiting staff. There appeared to me a lack of someone in charge. Such a shame.

What a great place to stay and so convenient for attending the theatre right next door!! I must say I loved the look on the female receptionist’s face when I walked in to enquire about parking! I had just been to a local make-up artists and had driven to the hotel already fully made up as Dr Frank-n-furter ready for attendance of two productions of the Rocky Horror Show. Once parked the second Make reception appeared oblivious to my look and professionally booked me in and personally escorted me to my third floor room. Although somewhat dated in appearance and impossible to move around the room quietly due to the very creaking floorboards it was perfectly adequate and comfortable with the only draw back being negotiating the numerous narrow stairways back down to Reception in my stilettos!!

The function suite was well-suited, being made up of two inter-linked rooms on the ground floor and close to hotel services including cafe-bar and reception, as well as the spectacular terrace overlooking the beach and pier. For presentations, there is a 50-inch, wall-mounted TV screen as well as a PA system which we didn't use. There is also a dedicated buffet area where refreshments can be laid out during the event. I went with some friends for a couple of drinks and sat outside which faces the seafront. It was a nice stop off to take in the views and have some refreshments. The prices were reasonable too.

Ubicación, comodidad y sobre todo atención con nosotros a pesar de no saber inglés siempre nos trataron excelente y sobre todo me encantó que reciban personas con mascotas y estoy muy agradecido con ellos nos vemos después.

Only come here for a drink rather than stay, it's on my route into town but it's a must stop for a quiet drink overlooking the seafront. Would give five stars but getting served sometimes takes a while for such a small number of customers.

Went for a Sunday morning breakfast. Pleasant staff, good views of the beach across the road. Food could have been served hotter. Great poached eggs.

Just went here for lunch whilst in the area. Good choice of food, nice areas to eat both inside and out on the front overlooking the sea. Very friendly bar staff and quick service

Little Jill breakfast, coffee, tea, fruit juice. Cooked well, very attentive staff, couldn't leave a tip because I'd paid by card. They pulled a blind over us outside to shade us from the sun. Great atmosphere, lovely views, nice food, great start to the day. Anything we asked for whilst staff were passing, they sorted immediately.

Friendly staff and usually great chips. Have had to edit my review as over the past 3 or 4 visits the quality of the chips has dropped. Now seem thinly cut and over cooked. A shame really . Since my last report I'm afraid the last of portion of chips have dropped in quality, smaller and over or undercooked. This. Has happened since a new member of staff joined so won't use them again.
