Really enjoyed the food here together with the family!

Fantastic place, great food and lovely service. On the expensive side but a good shout for the special occasions in life! the tasting menue with wine pairings is a must! Cant wait to be back.

Here with the family as it the beginning of national lockdown, and wanted to go for something special, wasn't disappointed, food, service excellent. Can't fault it. Thank you for a great evening.

What a wonderful experience this place was and the staff were very friendly and attentive the food was fantastic, as a lover of fish i had a good fish dish here. Everything was fantastic and I'm looking forward to going back in the future soon.

A pleasure to be able to return to the White Peacock. As usual the food was superb and the whole experience was only marginally marred by the covid precautions. The staff ensured that everyone had a fantastic time.

We were really impressed with the service and menu. It was our first visit and a belated birthday meal, postponed due to restrictions.The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We couldn’t think why we had not been there before. It will now be one of our regular haunts.

Delicious lunch. Wonderful service. Superb wines. Felt safe (post COVID) and relaxed. Great to be back in this wonderful restaurant

I was invited to a trial night at the white peacock. I was really impressed by the attention of the staff when it came to social distancing and cleaning tables and chairs. I also saw they were washing hand all the time they were clearing tables. The manager was fantastic, I could see they were understaffed because she was running around nonstop . She did a great job being alone on the floor. The cocktails were delicious, especially the berries mojito. Food was good too, try the chocolate mousse with mushroom ice cream, it doesn’t sound good but it is! I was so impressed! Overall great experience, shout out to the front of house staff wearing a face mask in the heat and sanitising everything all the time!

Visited last night, and with what’s going on, we were the only customers present. So I am very grateful to the White Peacock for staying open just to serve us. The food was simply outstanding, as in MasterChef final class!!! I was blown away, especially 3 courses for £25 at such a high standard. The restaurant itself is lovely and beautifully laid out. The staff were really nice. Will definitely be back to make even more of it.

We had the most perfect evening as a belated 50th birthday present from my daughter. Started with relaxed cocktails which were amazing. Then we were shown to our table. At our complete leisure and treated to the most wonderful 3 course meal of the highest quality. The service was excellent from everyone. Thank you for a perfect evening.

We came here for an evening meal about a week ago and I cannot recommend it enough. The staff were lovely, friendly and approachable. The food was delightful, we both had the braised shin for a main and I could not fault it. The only improvement I could point out would be that the dining room was slightly on the chilly side but the staff made every effort to heat the room up, bringing a portable heater in etc which worked a treat. The cocktails and drinks were delightful too. I would highly recommend anyone to try it out and a huge thank you to the staff who made our experience the best it could be.

A wonderful 9 course taster menu, great wines and bubbly, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Really made the evening, waiting for the next surprise dish and wine to come out and savour the flavours.

This was my first vist to The White Peacock and the family were looking forward to the experience. We left slightly underwhelmed by the the evening. The surroundings are pleasent with the bar probably better decorated than the dining room which has a couple of places where the wallpaper appears to have been ripped......surely that could be fixed. The matre de was probably one of the best aspects of the evening, she was competent pleasant and attentive but the rest of the waiting staff were very young and inexperienced. After well made cocktails in the bar we settled down for our 7 course tasting menu (I say 7 course, actually it's six, then you are asked if anyone wants coffee or liquers for the 7th). All courses were nicely presented and looked good on the plate including the vegan option which my partner had. The wines also complemented the courses well. Unfortunately very few plates tasted as good as they looked, just lacking in flavour. The curried sweet potato soup left a taste of ash in all our mouths, none of us could finish it. A chicken terrine was nice but no better that that, whilst the smoked mackeral was served cold with a limp, uncrisped skin on it and a buttermilk and horseradish sauce that had no flavour at all. After a pleasant rosewater sorbet we had a pork dish that was the best of the set, three different ways of cooking the meat plus a nice five spice jus. A chocolate fondant was also nice without being out of the ordinary. The pacing of the meal had been good up to this point but the promised petit fours arrived 15 minutes after the coffee without explanation. To sum up, it could and should be so much better with just a little more thought in getting flavour into the food.

Went for a birthday dinner, had the la Carter menu and the veg option wasnt nice.For the price we paid sadly food wasnt upto standard. The complimentary bread was cold and was only given 1 piece each. Staff were lovely though, very polite. Hence the 3 stars, otherwise it would have been 1

My wife and I ate at The White Peacock in late November and both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The welcome and cocktails in the bar were excellent. The 9 Course tasting menu was varied and of very good quality. We went for the accompanying wine flight which was very good too. Unfortunately there was a slight mix up with the dessert wine and port, but this was rapidly put right and extra cheese supplied to accompany the port! Friendly, unpretentious staff and a reasonable price to pay for such good food and service. Stand out dish for us was simple but superb and this was a beetroot sorbet served with Prosecco poured over it. Hope to be back when next in Leicester

I felt compelled to write another review after reading some of recent reviews portraying a less than satisfactory experience.We have used The White Peacock for special occasions for many years. Most recently on Saturday night, we had the 9-course tasting menu with paired wines and it was everything we have come to expect.A welcoming greeting, excellent service, checking if the pace of the evening was to our taste, great food, with complimentary wines - the only returning item from our last visit was the dessert wine but if its not broken don't fix it.I can't speak for other people or other reviews, I can only repeat my title we have never had a bad experience, in fact only every good - so if you haven't tried I would suggest go and try for yourselves and hopefully your experience will be like ours have always been.

Valentines dinners would be expected to be a quiet and romantic event, time to spend with your partner with lovely surroundings, nice food and wines. When expectations don’t meet reality its very disappointing. The White Peacock in Leicester has won awards in the past, but these are old, and I am sure current performance in no way reflects those once held accolades.

What happened?! There used to be a time you’d be greeted as sir or madam, now it’s “alright guys?” at the door. When I pay premium prices I expect premium service, not the TGI Friday treatment. No elegance or charm at all in the manner of serving, I wanted what I thought was going to be a high end meal with fine dining service. The dishes, the drinks menu, the selection of wine and presentation were of a very high standard, just a shame about the lack of classic formality and peaceful ambiance. Sometimes people want to be treated in a way that feels luxurious and special.

We were booked in for a birthday meal for my wife on a Tuesday night and had more or less waited a year for this as they were closed on her birthday last year. We were a little niggled that the cost of the tasting menu on the web site was less than the menu that was e-mailed to us, but the night there more than made up for it. A 7 course 'vegan' tasting menu and all the courses were excellent. The service from Charlotte was exemplary and she even kept checking on us when it appeared one of her colleagues got run over by a bike outside. I don't think you could ask for more and we will definitely be back.

Our Valentine s Day was perfect! We were sat later than we were meant to but the manager told everybody they were running late and gave us a prosecco on the house. Once we were sat everything was perfect, the food was delicious and the front of house staff really worked hard to make our night special.

Reserved table for 2 on Valentine's night 2020 for 8.30 pm. Waited patiently and invited to table 1 hour later at 9.30 pm. Waited for further 15 minutes at table without any food. Minute nibbles served after further 10 minutes. By 10.0 pm no sign of food being served. Couple at next table who arrived substantially later then we did served with 2nd course of nibbles before us. No explanation given for extraordinary delay and no advance warning given that delay of 1.5 hours without food was to be expected. After waiting patiently my diabetic partner became concerned about the fact there was no sign of any food arriving. We were compelled therefore to leave to obtain a take away before it was too late. If the cause of this car crash experience had been shared with customers or if customers had been given the opportunity to cut their losses before wasting their evening a crisis would not have been turned into a disaster. It is to be hoped that this unfortunate experience is not repeated..

We opted for the 9 course Tasting Menu on Saturday lunchtime and were not disappointed.

Great meal, great service, great ambience

Looking for a restaurant to eat for the evening, the food here was amazing as was Charlotte. We had 2 courses and shared them between us. Scallops and the chicken terrine both fantastic, followed by monk fish and pork belly and cheek. As a random result of a quick look on here for somewhere to eat it was very serendipitous.

Unfortunately from start to finish, the service and attitude of the staff made the evening frustrating and disappointing.

Service was very slow Food awful no flavour very bland steak inedible and very small portions! Very disappointing as expected better

My daughter and I decided on dinner at The White Peacock downtown, worth a try but neither of us was impressed by the food. Quite pricey. Service attentive and excellent. Maitre d' rather pretentious and snobby.

Booked here for hubby’s 50th birthday and weren’t sure what to expect. What we got was a somewhat old fashioned dining room with amazing food and lovely service. The bread with herb butter was divine - sadly I didn’t get to taste the accompanying oil as hubby gobbled it all up before I got a look in. My beetroot and goats cheese starter was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten and the beef main was lovely with a good mix of garnishes (tenderstem broccoli, pea and parsnip purées and an amazing layered potato slice (I forget its name!). Hubby also enjoyed his cod cheeks and coley/crab main. Lovely dessert cocktail for me and tonka brûlée for hubby. The great food club discount offers a good saving on a quite expensive a la carte. All in all an excellent celebration lunch but for me, the dining room could do with a re-fresh.

First visit to this restaurant. Booked the taster menu based on previous positive reviews (4 of us). I’m afraid it wasn’t a good experience. The restaurant was pretty much empty (one table of two, one table of 5 or so in addition to us, quite a large room) so no atmosphere. Waits between courses became longer and longer - from cheese to the 1st dessert was over 40 mins, and counting - in the end we gave up and left. We won’t go back.

Booked in over the weekend for my sisters birthday. Had high expectations as we were regulars at Maiyango's and then then closed down and i'd heard the owners had opened this one.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Very friendly, lovely hostess who served us all evening, attentive without being over bearing. Food was excellent! All courses were delicious. Will definitely be coming back!

Excellent food. The menu has a few options from 2 course for around £25, a la cart about £35 and a taster menu at £70. Look for the deals in the week. Well worth the visit. Staff were amazingly friendly.

Four star rating mainly because of value for money. A three course menu is 32 pounds. The place has a nice atmosphere, is in a nice place in town, service is excellent. Food is very insta- ready, but the taste is less good than it looks. Looks and feel are fine dining, taste is more plain, but don't think it isn't good, it's just not do special. None of the dishes of my friends were. Still recommend, but don't expect to much.

Came in for afternoon tea. Service was great. Friendly and attentive staff. Manager Esme was a delight, helpful and made us feel comfortable and welcome. Food was fresh and homemade. Will definitely be coming again. Highly recommended!

This was my second visit at the white peacock. It was not busy to be a Saturday night but we didn’t mind. The service was very attentive and checked on us multiple times. The manager was very friendly and stopped at our table for a chat and have some feedback on the new cocktails ( we had blueberry gimlet and the cosmopolitan spritz which were amazing). Our visit to the White Peacock was for mid week lunch having seen that this restaurant is in the fine dining section of trip advisor, well as a fine dining restaurant goes this is well below par. Having been to fine dining restaurants all over the country and locally this is by far the poorest.

We have eaten here a number of times now. The food is very high quality and very reasonably priced. We have had the set menu mostly and the sea bass is delicious.

We had very attentive service and a very enjoyable and good value set menu for a relaxing Saturday Lunch.

Went here to celebrate my father’s birthday. Enjoyed it very much - good food and a pleasant atmosphere. We will be returning next year.

Great service in the bar , however in the restaurant....

My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant on a whim, hoping for great food. We were not disappointed. The food was both beautifully presented and tasty. i often fear with more high-end food that it will be very small portions and i will leave hungry, however this was not the case here as the portions were substantial and on the house bread is offered before your meal.

Despite the long waiting period the food was amazing. Really nice place along with kind staff.

We had been to see the testing place of Richard the 3rd and someone told us to go down New walk on our way down we spotted this restaurant .what a lovely surprise food fabulous and only £19.99 for two courses .The inside was beautiful and the waiter couldn’t do enough for us ,would recommend this place to everyone

I have no complaints with the quality of the food besides the poor options for vegetarians. The service however was not doing the food any justice, timing and knowledge of the menu was limited

From the moment you walk in you know you are in for a special evening. Although the menu is limited the quality of the food served was great with incredibly attentive service by well trained pleasant staff. Every aspect of our evening was superb.

Super lunch during day out in Leicester with my darling. The waiter was a bit over the top but we couldn’t fault his service, attentiveness and pace. The food here is always top class and, whilst not cheap, it not hideously expensive either. Five star all round.

My wife and I had a lovely evening at the venue with good and delicious food, good wine list, generous portions and an attentive and friendly service. The bar area is cozy and well decorated and best of all ... they serve our favorite beer: Estrella's Inendit! Why only 4 stars then, you might wonder? The wine glasses were a real disappointment. We would not have ordered the most expensive wine on the list had we known it to be served in 'pub-style' glasses (we ordered while seated in the bar area). But again, overall a great evening and experience.

We started with the chicken and mango terrine which was beautifully presented and tasted every bit as good as it looked. Our party of four had different mains; a fish dish, a beef and a vegetarian one. These were all equally as splendid and lovely as the next. The service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive. A very relaxed atmosphere. I would definitely recommend to family and friends!

I had heard amazing things about the White Peacock.

It was a good restaurant until all went downhill on Saturday evening, the meal was more than average for a place that we had visited several time before and for which we have at all time enjoyed. Saturday, it was certainly not the usual chef on the piano. The chicken terrine was more cat food than a terrine, the focaccia that is a soft fluffy bread was a dry, stale, crumbly wedge. The carrot soup well nothing extraordinary, the cod was ok, the chicken was too but no real flavours and the sweet corn were so over cooked they were tasteless. The dessert was bright green and looks like more a traffic light at the junction of London road. As for the ladies room, to avoid at all cost if you do not want to be put off your meal. Was it a bad night for the chef, I guess so as I said we went several times before and never had a problem. And please drop the “no problem” it is an empty word that does not mean anything. Extremely expensive for a pretty average evening.

We went there to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday and it was fantastic. The staff couldn't do enough for us bearing in mind that there were 16 of us and I made a mistake on one of the pre-ordered meals. From the moment I made the booking, we communicated several times by email, for confirmation of the booking, the menu, the type of birthday cake and dietary requirements etc. They were quick to respond and made the whole experience very easy and stress free, especially as it was meant to be a surprise for my husband. The food was tasty and looked good too. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we cannot recommend them enough.

Lovely and attentive staff, had the entire restaurant to myself for lunch. Starter and a cocktail were great, interesting flavors and textures. Main of (I can’t recall the exact description on the menu so let’s go with) vegetable tart with halloumi was very disappointing though - the puff pastry base was soggy and just filled with large pieces of carrot, broccoli and cauliflower, with the halloumi kinda draped over it. As the only booking they seemed to have for lunch that day, I wonder if they just didn’t have the usual kitchen staff on hand to knock something together. It was a shame as this place has great reviews otherwise!

Fantastic experience with some very interesting but delicious courses. The staff could not have been better, incredibly polite and you did not feel anything would have been too much trouble. The cocktails were lovely and I was just gutted that after eating the food I couldn't fit in one more!

Amazing Venue, hospitality and professional service. We had the nine course taster the pork and fish were excellent. The cheese dish not so good however they acknowledged constructive criticism with a positive manner.

We went to this restaurant for a graduation meal. The staff were incredibly attentive and the food was amazing! Being vegetarian, I was impressed with the quality and innovation in the food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and will be returning!

This is a fantastic place. Friendly, spacious with a fantastic atmosphere and of course top quality food. The beef was so tasty as was the heritage tomato consommé. I recommend the ‘Il Primitivo’.

We love this restaurant. The staff are excellent and the food is beautiful to look at as well as delicious. The attention to detail is very impressive. Basil flavoured marshmallows are surprisingly good. The portions are generous. The cocktails are made with care and taste as good as they look. I would definitely recommend the taster menu. The best restaurant in Leicester !

Had a lunch time meal sat outside on the terrace under the shade of a large tree, food was excellent, service was excellent, cost was acceptable, highly recommended and will be going back to try an evening meal.

An excellent dinner. A bit expensive but worth the money. The beef tartar is to die for. Everyone in our party loved their choices. Best food from our week back home in the UK.

Visited on a Saturday evening and wonderful welcome, pre-dinner cocktails and lovely feel to the place. Starters of mackerel, beef tartare and scallops were all amazing. Mains of Cod and Pork belly weren’t quite as good as the starters although the cod was beautifully cooked it just didn’t have the wow factor that the starters did. Crispy Pork Belly wasn’t. Good flavours but no crispy layer you would have expected rather a handful of Mr Porky crackles on top which are rank at the best of times. All dishes came with an extra empty jug so not sure if the chef forgot something, wasn’t clear. Could have been so much better. Waiting staff were very good, attentive and had a good level of service whilst not being overbearing. Fantastic bar and dining room area, would definitely go back but a little disappointed with the let down of the pork, a shame as could have been perfect.

Creative and tasty cuisine with excellent service - highly recommended

This is the first time I’ve been here and on first impressions it looks great. A warm welcome and the tables were well spaced out so as not to intrude with other diners. The staff were all friendly. The menu had some nice choices and the food was well presented and tasty. I had the bass which was lovely but quite a small portion compared to the amount of potatoes and the cost. Was disappointed when coffee arrived as there is usually something small and sweet to accompany it but no just coffee. Even in my local cheap and cheerful you get a mint with coffee and this was way more expensive. Compared to other fine dining restaurants we’ve visited I not as impressed as I could have been, there were just a few little niggles that stopped it being great for me. Different waiters kept coming to ask if all was ok and trying to take orders already dealt with by someone else. I would have liked a bit more time between courses as it all felt a rushed. It was a Saturday night and I expect they are very busy but as a customer you should not get the feeling that they are. It was nice for a special occasion but there are others I would prefer that’s not to say I wouldn’t return in the future.

Absolutely delicious, Scallops to start, Venison main and Creme Brulee for dessert, all completely delicious, cosy atmosphere and lovely staff too!

The white peacock is a truly fantastic experience three for the set price meal I went vegetarian carrot steak starter and it was fantastic the flavours were sutle and a truly sensational experience my main again veggie was a experience in flavour and texture I chickend out on sweet as I was tempted by the parsnip sweet but I went safe with the banana the food here is exceptional the staff are lovely achieving that ballance between attentive without us feeling rushed the place is lovely

We came here on Thursday night with no reservation and with high hopes, as we’ve always wanted to dine here, but somehow we’d not experienced the White Peacock yet.

Visited the White Peacock on a Friday evening in a group of 9 friends and we were all very impressed. Having arranged before our visit we chose from the table d'hote menu and drank the house wine and it was all of a high standard. The ambiance was such that, although the restaurant became busy, we could all talk easily . The staff were exceedingly efficient, friendly and pleasant and the service very good. Understandably this menu was not extensive but each plate was delicious, well presented and most enjoyable. Definitely would re visit

You walk in and are warmly greeted, immediately making you feel relaxed and at “home” - we opted for a 3 course meal, I had the carrot steak to start (who knew you could do such wonders with a carrot!) and the beef cheek accompanied by a blue beef fillet for the main. All the dish components complimented each other perfectly with amazing subtle flavours taking over the pallet - the beef cheek I could have eaten with a spoon, it was that soft and it just gives your taste buds an amazing beefy kiss as you eat it.

Fantastic night with friends. Great atmosphere and wonderful food. Greeted as we entered and given 5 star treatment! Esme the manager is AMAZING!!!
