Staff were lovely and good was amazing! Had a Sunday Duo dinner and the food was out quickly with great service. Millie was very helpful and all staff were very accommodating and friendly. Would recommend !!

Had a great night with friends watching the rugby. The landlord Craige was fun and attentive, taking the time to speak to the customers. All the staff behind the bar worked hard and couldn’t do enough for you. I would definitely recommend this pub to friends and family.

Very rude bar barmaid when I went there on the night of Sat 8th March. The pub itself was great. Large, decent selection, very a happy atmosphere. The barman was friendly too. Sad how one person's bad attitude can ruin a pub. I'm gutted. This is my first ever "bad" review...

Tried this place for the first time ever, we thought the food was very good and also the service excellent. Visited on a Sunday evening, seemed very quiet, bar a group of what seemed like locals enjoying themselves, we sat by fire which was nice touch. If your after fine dining head elsewhere. But for good quality well cooked hearty pub food, this is a good place to try. Thank you to all staff, and well done chef...we will return at some point

On a Sunday lunchtime this place is buzzing with families. It feels community oriented with solid british sundau roasts. Yummy!

Plenty of car parking spaces. Reserved a table which was ready for us when we arrived. Friendly service at the bar when 5 of us ordered drinks. Food was well presented and well cooked.

Myself and my 2 sisters visited the white lion in westbury on trym on Wednesday 18th December 2024. . We all work for the NHS and this was a rare get together as our shifts often clash , so this was a special time for us. We’d book in advance and arrived in time . It was very welcoming and busy as it’s the time of year for Christmas party’s. We ordered our food and asked to use our blue light cards, because of the bad WiFi signal none of us could access the QR code , even though we had proof on our phones of the card, we were told they needed it for Tax purposes. Our food came and from the get go it didn’t look appetising. My sister had lasagna which was swimming in juice , and looked like it had already been served and taken back , the garlic bread was as hard as a house brick . My other sister and myself had scampi , which was overcooked and hard , the peas were hard and cold and the garlic mushrooms we had for starter were swimming in fat . The young lady came and asked if the food was ok . We said no, and repeated what I had described above and we were told “it always looks like that “ we were very hungry and ate it anyway , we didn’t want to spoil our day by getting into a confrontation. We’ve eaten here before and it was ok but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt , and it was dreadful . All I can think is that those coming in just for food and not a Christmas party had to take a back seat . I never write reviews but feel we should bring this to your attention so you could possibly work on these points and improve. Unfortunately we won’t be back again .

What a lucky find. Chanced on this place by pure luck on a weekend in Bristol. I've been to a few ember inns before but this has to be one of the best. The place was fully booked when we arrived this morning but they soon found us a table. They didnt have a breakfast menu but so pleased we asked if they did it. Full English is very generous, great value and the staff and chefs were friendly (it was no trouble to do us the bacon well done). Definitely worth a visit if you're local and fancy a quality breakfast for a good price and friendly staff.. Thanks very much to the white lion.

Had a 3RTR Cambrai celebration meal. First time here, food was excellent, so was the service can not fault it. The bathrooms were fresh and clean. Carparking was plentiful, except a very sharp turn into it and quite steep.

Always love the food here. Today I had avocado and mixed grain salad and added a chicken tikka kebab. It was so tasty, I would definitely order again. Prices are so reasonable too.

Booked the table in advance online and received an email reminder shortly before the visit. The White Lion is set in a beautiful location, and we parked opposite by a small green. None of the stupid registration business - simply free parking. WOW .. What a lovely place to visit ... The pub was warm and welcoming, helped by the wonderful Christmas decorations. The windows especially looked fab. The staff were friendly and quickly saw us to our table .. We opted for table service, and it wasn't long before we were enjoying our drinks choosing from their mouthwatering menu. The food was top notch .... The roast dinner was a proper plate full and the pie incredible ... What a pie ! .... Will be going back for that alone :o) I hope the photos do justice ... Unfortunately, the desserts were so tempting that I forgot to take a photo prior to tucking in ... So just imagine that blackberry and apple crumble as a whole round tart ( Not some skimpy slice you get elsewhere !! ) ... It literally melted in your mouth ! Yummy ! Highly recommend a visit - ( approx £13 - £14 main / £5.80 dessert ) - We will be back :o)

Did rate this pub highly but a recent visit Oct 2024 brought the score down to 2 stars. Food very basic and small. One meal was cold and had to be reheated. Old review: Good pub food in relaxed atmosphere. Small beer garden. Staff are always polite and friendly. Car parking available but limited to three hours and VERY IMPORTANT: you must enter your car details on a screen at the bar. No reminders in the pub but you can get extension on 3 hours - just ask at the bar.

10/10 the food was great and to top it off found my self a new fav elderflower drink was absolutely amazing ! Definitely going back for another one of those .! Lisa the bar lady was so lovely made great conversation even though she was rushed of her feet made me feel very welcome. We managed to get a table last min by calling and the gentleman on the phone (made net elderflower drink ;)) was very approachable and kind.

Wasn't great missing sharing nachos missing sping onions nachos gravy and it was for sharing 12.99 chicken no garish 5 99 plus delivery and charges £23 abit experience for the cost of food

Food was lovely! However it was all brought out at different times and so some people were already finished while others were waiting. Would also like to point out (while I know this isn't the pubs doing) that there were people going around the tables outside asking if they wanted to buy any ham or cheese - most likely stolen from the local shop. This is more of a heads up and was mentioned to staff on the day.

Fancied a nice roast. Potatoes were aunt Bessie’s!!! Do not go to a pub to pay £14 for a roast for frozen roasties. Veg was the portion size I would give to my 3 year old grandchild. Veg was barely cooked. Parsnips I got 1 thumb nail size pieces. Have eaten here before not an issue but defo won’t be back for a roast. Quite disgusted to be honest. On plus side dessert was delicious. Warm chocolate brownie. Pub was cold also had to keep my jacket on

Met up with friends for lunch. I had the chicken, bacon and avocado wrap with fries. The meal was so good. It was an open wrap, which was unexpected, but it certainly went down well. Some of the other meals were the lasagne, rainbow lasagne and half roasted chicken - there were complements all round. We'll be returning soon.

The staff are amazing,we use the white lion every Wednesday nite,we normally book under Dave withes,but last nite Dave had dinner with his family members,so we booked under my name,the food is very top notch,that is why we book every Wednesday,there is 1member of the bar staff stands out,I call her the Wednesday nite girl.

Went for lunch with my sister today. We both had an Avocado Salad with grains, very tasty and fresh - very crisp lettuce - and beautifully presented. My sister has a bell pepper allergy and the manager consulted the chef to adjust her meal with an alternative as the grains incorporated chopped peppers. A very delicious light meal and reasonably priced. The coffee was good too and a friendly pleasant atmosphere for lunch.

Nice food. Pleasant atmosphere. Only complaint on a kids meal the chips come covered in salt, a little rub down fixed this but still a lovely lunch.

Great visit to this old favourite - don’t get to visit as much as we’d like these days but it’s always top of our list if we are in the area. Great team always working so hard, food really good and atmosphere warm and friendly.

Have been here many times. Georgine behind the bar is always friendly and helpful. I recently had the crispy chicken, and it was delicious. Perfect for families and pets, great atmosphere and incredible service. Beer garden and car park very specious, and full of lovely locals and occasional passer byers with great attitude and lovely chats.

Popped in for lunch to celebrate our granddaughters birthday. Good service and the food was excellent.

Very unimpressed service hardly saw any staff. Sunday lunch poor at best tiny cubes of veg mare cabbage then anything else. Frozen potatoes which were hard in the middle. The gammon was so fatty I had to leave most of it uneaten. Waiter tried to scoop up drinks before we had even finished them. No finesse food just dumped on the plate looked terrible .if your thinking of Sunday lunch my advice go elsewhere .
