Relatively new patrons have taken up residence in this little nook of a pub. We have frequented for a chilled pint on a few occasions, but thought we would try a bit of food. Their secret beer garden set on a hill is an excellent place to chill on a lovely Summer’s day. Now, as the saying goes … I’ve made more hot dinners than … well … you’ve had ‘em! So, I can say with some expertise in the matter that this Sunday lunch was superb, well-portioned and home-made with good attention to detail. The options on offer were pork, turkey and beef or you could have all 3, which was my choice. Melt in the mouth meat, tasty seasonal veg - just everything was faultless - finished off with 2 desserts - a lovely apple crumble and ice cream and spotted dick and custard yummy!! We deffo think we’ve found a new watering (and eating) hole! The price was definitely comparable to other pubs in the locale. Give it a go, we really think it’s worth it.

Just had lunch here. Wadsworths 6x was excellent. Simple pub grub but well cooked and presented. Clean and friendly. Give it a try. Only given 4 stars because it was very quiet. Will be back.

Had a cracking Saturday night at the Victoria. Friendly bar staff, nice IPAs and beers and a Bluetooth juke box with what ever you want on it. An extra star when you put the fire on

Nice little friendly pub down a quiet lane in Westbury on trym.

I think the new owners need to re look at the quality of the food offered. My daughter had a burger which had nothing else in it at all - no sauce, no salad. Just literally a burger and bun. Given the high quality of food across the many competitors in the area, it needs to be much better. Also the marketing - people don’t want to go to an empty pub so putting posts on the local Facebook community page saying things like “where is everyone tonight?” is actually a major turn off. I’m sure this could be a really lovely pub but need some regular locals on board to start the positive jungle drums going. Word of mouth counts for a lot.

Website clearly states 11pm closing but on a recent visit with others, we were told to drink up at 9:50pm as closing at 10pm. This is so annoying when taxi has been pre-arranged. We all know about manager's discretion, but what about customer service and satisfaction. On our way out we mat four others who were about to walk in but warned them off. Won't be back. With so many pubs closing down, how can you offer a poor service like this.

Two managers, Shelby and Jess are personal friends of mine, tonight was the first time I've ever visited and I really enjoyed it.

After trying various pubs in the area we tried The Victoria for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. Friendly service and amazing food cooked to perfection. Would thoroughly recommend! Only criticism was that the pub felt a little cold.

Great to find the Victoria open once again, and run by a lovely, welcoming family too. Beautiful big plates of Sunday roast (one beef, one lamb). Really enjoyed our meal and the warm stove.

Seems like a nice pub, but on the occasion we visited the waitress wasn't particularly helpful and the vegetarian roast dinner was disappointing.

Sunday lunch with my folks.i had awsome roast trio of meats which although was not on menu the helpful staff provided for me. My mother ate all her vegetarian roast, which is almost unheard of. All in all a lovely county pub Will eat again

Went in for a couple drinks and some food on Friday night, did not offer children's menu which was advertised on the website. Limited menu with a few dishes not available, unhelpful bar staff. Seemed far more worried about setting up a karaoke night than anything else so ended up leaving and getting a takeaway,

This hidden gem offers good food and a warm, welcoming and cosy atmosphere. Parking is a bit tricky but well worth making your way to this traditional hostelry!

9 of us went here for a late lunch last Sunday and we were all very impressed with the food, the hospitality and the atmosphere of the whole place. It was one of the best roasts we have had for a long time and the staff could not have done more to look after us.

Our family was back in Bristol from London therefore we chose the Victoria for drinks as the pub is under new ownership / management, which opened in November. The atmosphere was nice & friendly and had a lovely country feel to a town pub. We were so impressed we are going back before Christmas with a large group of friends.

This pub in the old village of Westbury-on-Trym has suffered a chequered history in the past few years, under several landlords, but I'm so pleased to say that the new landlady Karen has restored it to a welcoming local with a lovely atmosphere. We ate here with friends and thoroughly enjoyed the food, sensibly priced, and with friendly service. It only reopened a few weeks ago, but I'd recommend booking a table if you want to eat, as word is spreading about how good a pub it now is...

The last few years have destroyed this pub with a long trail of useless management. I believe Karen has the right ideas and knowledge to turn the Victoria into a successful pub worthy of its position as the top pub in the village. The premises are now clean and welcoming. The staff are attentive and polite. The food offering is excellent, there's plenty of choice, there are menus adapting for the ever changing seasons. The ales are in good condition, with an expected offering, no complaints there. Karen is looking to make the Victoria the pub of the community. It's now down to the community to re-engage with the Victoria. I have a long history in the licensed trade and don't think you'll be disappointed. It's now over to the locals.

Only just noticed that the Vic is NOW a non doggie friendly dog pub. Don't they know that a lot of the local residents are dog owners! Not wishing bad luck but they have to pull out something special to pull that off. I know for a fact a lot of people we know won't be in there. Didn't the new owners do their research, so perhaps they should re-look at their rules.

Thankfully the pub has reopened under the care of Karen and her team. It's early days, but the business cannot survive without local support. The pub as a good selection of real ales lagers, wines and spirits. There was a free taster session on Friday night (8th Nov 2019) for their new menu. Excellent!

Visited as recommended. Major problem is parking. Had to park 5 minutes walk away. However, young man behind the bar was pleasant and efficient. Gòd was ok but, as driving, could not really as.ple the beer.

Very friendly and excellent service. Nice quiet garden . We had chilli Nacho's which were delicious and plenty for a light lunch for two. Dog friendly too!

Got to be honest, I had a fairly naff cheese sandwich which I could have done better at home. The chops were good though and the beer passable. Average is being generous.

Group of 14 (plus two dogs) visited for drinks on a Saturday evening.Told we had to move as tables needed for diners.No body else eating in the pub.This the second time we have been moved on by the rude landlord and staff.. Won't be going back there again. Rubbish Elvis music...

The manager of this public house is not welcoming or friendly he hides behind his staff. We were celebrating with family and friends a birthday, we booked a table but not necessarily for eating. We were given a table, however after we told the staff we were not eating the tables were taken away for others to use even though the pub was not full, we had to stand up obstructing others. This quaint pub deserves a better standard of service for its local residence, our experience is this public house is deserving of a less than terrible rating.

14 of us booked a table in the pub but didn’t say we were eating, we arrived at 7.00pm and was told we had to order food by 8.00pm, when we said we weren’t eating they removed the tables we were sitting at, they said these tables were for other customers. We had to stand around the toilets where it was like an obstacle course. This public house is small and can’t cater for large groups either if they are eating or drinking only. This is the second time they have told us we couldn’t take up a large table unless we were eating it also happened Christmas. The owner is not friendly and most unwelcoming we will not be visiting again, terrible. This pub do not even warrant a terrible rating it’s worse.

Poor quality burger was off smell like rotten fart

Living in Westbury-On-Trym, we are fortunate to have several pubs to choose from for a drink and spot of food. Over recent years the Victoria has had more bad times than good - having several changes of management. I wish they had a better choice of beers, not being a fan of Wadworths (but I am sure others are) and this may be one reason why it is not 'our local'. Anyway in recent months we have been walking that little further from our home to visit 'the Vic' for a drink and this evening we decided a first try of the new menu was in order as it had been recommended by some friends who are part of the Vic regulars. I had the mushroom stroganoff and my wife the Venetian liver. We both enjoyed our food and it was good value. The service was excellent and friendly and felt personal which is not always the case. The atmosphere in the Vic was very pleasant and (based on recent reviews) I thought the music choice was good. I wouldn't have wanted it any louder, my wife thought maybe a 'smidgen' quieter but that could have been to do with the fact we selected a table by the lovely fire, which I think may have been under a speaker. Anyway it was a really nice evening, and we will be back to try other things on the menu very shortly.

Lovely pub and always enjoy my visits here, highly recommend the Sunday roast. Staff are always polite and friendly, especially Sam, who has arranged for the defibrillator to be installed outside the Vic and is just what Westbury On Trym needs. Well done Sam, and thank you to Steve for having it at the Vic.

We went on Christmas Day, such a lovely and welcoming atmosphere. Knowing that it was only open for drinks it was a pleasant surprise to see pigs in blankets and roasties on the bar. Our little girl was also welcomed too and we will indeed be returning in the New Year

Came here for a meal with some friends. The initial process was bad due to an old companion. But the meal was very good. We enjoyed the burgers, the drinks were a somewhat reasonable price and the pudding was decent. I'll be coming here again with my friend.

Seeing reviews locally thought must give it a try, as a local pub, and was really impressed with the lunch served on hot plates a nice change, the food excellent quality , and quantity. As husband and I booked for 2.30 a nice time today there where not too many people, but I expect it could be a bit difficult to have conversations if very busy, slightly disconcerting as the sound system was a bit loud however we where sat under the speakers. It was very cosy with the log fire on and the Christmas tree lit.

Our first time in The Victoria for a meal, and I must say it was an excellent roast and the service was very good. Will definitely retirn

Friday night has unnecessary loud music with dj who could not care less that the majority of people are there to converse with each other.
