Good quality home cooked food at a reasonable price

Been in the pub today with my family. I ordered a warm chicken and bacon salad. It came with a dressing on, which I didn’t ask for and never had n the salad before. Totally ruined the meal for me, I couldn’t eat it. It would be better to ask , or indeed put some in a container on the side. It’s the first time I’ve been in there and not had a lovely meal.

Attended for a club presentation evei. Choice of beer was limited in the event room so had to keep walking round for beer from the bar. Only stout they had was nitrogen cold Guinness. Not the best choice when you have ossett brewery beers within a few miles.

A lovely warm welcome on a cold day for us and our dogs, ideal for our rendezvous with friends and after we'd all walked around grounds at Nostell Priory. Great choice of food including some smaller portion options an so reasonably priced, all served quickly. Dogs got some treats too. Wish it was our local. Good service and a friendly welcome is so often a rare thing but makes a big difference. We all live over an hour away in different directions but I'm sure we'll be back at some point. Thankyou!

The Scottish lady who is the manager is what hospitality is all about, kind, warm helpful knows her locals and wants to get to know new guests. Rest of the staff are like her too and the food is beautiful 😍

Good hearty food, I had braising steak with mash veg and dumpling, it was So tasty. Staff very friendly and down to earth, lots of very well behaved dogs in the bar too. Definitely my new go to place, well done All. My hubby had the XL meat feast type meal and loved it.

Great beer garden and nice location for a Summer drink, but don’t bother with Sunday dinner if you’re vegetarian or vegan, we called to check there was an option which was confirmed and it says veggie option on the menu, but it’s just a main without meat, no substitute which was very disappointing and a poor effort! 👎🏼

Can't comment on the food as I've never eaten here, but it's very popular for food, indoors and out so must be good. Very friendly staff. Beautiful building, great grounds. Amazing atmosphere. Could do with an update internally with decoration and toilets. A mirror in the Men's would be appreciated, but overall a really friendly and picturesque atmosphere and location. Dog friendly. Disabled access from the side door, not the front which has steps.

Tea her was lovely. plenty of choice and a warm welcome. this place has a great outside area too. we had a perfectly cooked steak and a double chili burger with the best onions rings! we were so impressed we booked another table to bring our family. The drinks are good too.

We stayed here in our campervan on the way back from a race meeting in the Midlands. Staff and service was excellent, despite arriving late for food they provided us with a great meal and fine beer. Good area for campervan or motorhome parking, plenty of space. Family run business, certainly highly recommended.

Lovely place,everyone enjoyed the buffet. Good choice if drinks, though a few dirty glasses. Would mostly recommend apart from the DJ was just far too loud for the size of the room.

Popped in for a beer on the way home on May Bank Holiday weekend, as the roadside pubs in Ackworth were packed. We thought that being only just off the beaten track that The White Horse might be a little quieter. It was busy, but not packed and plenty of room in the well appointed beer garden. Friendly staff, two cask beers and choice of lagers and ciders on tap or in bottles. Beautiful place for a pint on a warm, sunny day.

11 of us ate here for my mother in laws birthday. Plenty of choice on the menu from steaks to Sunday lunches. Lovely food, attentive staff & very good real ales. All in all a really nice venue & good value. Well worth a visit.

The White Horse the last time I was in this pub was 60 years ago, service and food excellent loved it. My grand father, Mother and Uncle's lived in the property behind.

Been a couple of times now for meals. The gluten free alternatives are fantastic, been able to get a 3 course meal that isnt the usual gf options is what sets the white horse apart. Having tried different menu options the food is always upto a fantastic standard always leaving me full for hours afterwards. Friendly staff and a warm cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended but call for a table on weekends as gets busy

This is a very nice venue for the loud locals. They are the most important people. Everyone else needs too listen to them. Food average, staff lovely. I won't be going again anytime soon. 😬

Called in without booking at lunchtime, luckily we got a table. The service and food were excellent and I would recommend anyone to pay this pub a visit; although I would suggest booking ahead if you want to eat as it is a popular hostelry. We will definitely be paying another visit.

I visited the White Horse with my wife midweek and was impressed with many things, firstly they are totally dog friendly, the bar staff and everyone working there were so friendly and accommodating, they have an excellent selection of drinks and good real ales, together with excellent food. So, we decided to call again for Sunday lunch with three friends and our small dog. Table reserved as per telephone booking, staff very friendly and welcoming. Sunday lunch is excellent with plenty of choice, generous portions of meat, good quality and variety of vegetables, the yorkshires were lovely. Good choice of homemade desserts, and just an allround brilliant sunday lunch. The staff all friendly and helpful, we will definitely call again and again.

We live fairly local and have been meaning to try this pub for ages as we also like the look of the weddings they host so wanted to check out the food! The staff were so friendly, we ordered braiding steak and dumplings, hot beef baguettes and kids nuggets - all was really fresh and tasty! Everyone enjoyed, very generous portions and really good value. Lovely drink selection too couldn’t fault it. Can’t wait to go back and bring the dog as it was very dog friendly nice to see all the lovely pooches! X

We booked a table for four at lunchtime. Good idea as they were nearly fully booked! Good choice of drinks at the bar, and wide range of food on the menu. Mainly pub classics, including a range "from the grill". There is also a specials board to add to the choice. Our food was delicious and delivered quickly. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant

Dropped in today for a beer ,had a beef baguette with onions and gravy it was grand ,good pint warm fire nice atmosphere and really lovely staff ,will deffo be going back quite a few times ,good proper pub 👍

Excellent 3 course Xmas meal for, 21 of us from our local walking groups. The food was hot, freshly prepared & excellent quality & value. So, so much better than the Xmas meal I’d had, at Bagden Hall the previous Saturday. We would all thoroughly recommend The White Horse.

A little gem, a traditional pub within a lovely setting providing plenty of outside seating with lovely far reaching views. A warm welcome with exceptional traditional home cooked food at extremely good prices, expect a good portion! You won’t be disappointed, they can also cater for larger parties ( wedding receptions ) or any other celebrations. Would most certainly recommend.
