No phone signal so had to use free WiFi but not the best and roast potatos were very good (too hard ok outisde) but all other food was good.

Great carvery. Piping hot. Which is very rare. Big bug bare of mine. Hate cold food. This was red hot. Will definitely be back. Spoilt for choice on the menu. Can't wait to come back

People are really friendly and helpful, the sandwiches are nice but the carvery is dire.. cold, bland and dry like it was old and reheated with a hairdryer.

We have been coming for a long time but last 3 times, the food has not been great. Went yesterday, told the waitress that whilst the King Prawn Fajitas were delicious, advertised on the menu as "King Prawns", the prawns were small shrimps, hard, chewy and tasteless like small frozen supermarket prawns. No feedback after we complained. Been going for years but won't be coming again :-(

Called on spec, not been before but will go again. Staff friendly and efficient. Service speedy. Food presented well, especially smoked haddock meal which i thoroughly enjoyed.

Called in as haven’t been for years for some lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Gone downhill since last visit. Service extremely slow, lager poor, food just about edible. We ordered beef sarnie which was tasteless not even real gravy. The gammon was fatty and chips were hit and miss ….. defo one off the list for a return visit.

It’s been a firm favourite with us for years but today every single meal was sub standard and it’s really put us off. Won’t be returning

this pub is a lovely place to go with family and friends if you want a proper meal out because the meals are really worth it and they are really worth the price that you pay and the desserts are fantastic and worth the price also and the staff are super friendly including a staff member named Kacey she is absolutely fantastic and she is really friendly so I hope kacey sees this review and I would recommend this pub 10 out of 10

Had Sunday dinner been before but today wasn't very nice at all also bought takeaway dinner got medium dinner to be told while getting dinner i have to pay for large dinner if I want takeaway even though it was for a child there were no signs up saying this the staff were clever and rude when I said I asked then paying I wanted a take away dinner nothing was said then don't think I'll be going back again

Had dinner here mid-week. It was okay, nothing more, nothing less. Not sure about the bad language that was being allowed and the smoking in the door way.

A fantastic carvery that's excellent value for money. First time visitors without a reservation but we will definitely be back. Absolutely suburb.

Good prices, good portions and a great friendly atmosphere, I recommend for evenings with family, friends or if you fancy a sneaky one on your own on way back from work.

Rustic pub feel from the outside, nice beer garden and large selection of beers and spirits. The food is very poor as in my opinion there is too much going on so the simpler dishes are suffering. Is this a carvery or a gastro pub? I don't believe it can be both. Such a shame as the venue is lovely.

The Sunday carvery is absolutely epic - great value and food is delicious, staff are friendly. Only gripe is how busy it gets sometimes but it's a testament to how good it is. Has a big outdoor play area for the kids.

Food was average for a carvery , didn't really get much meat compared to.other carvery places, but was still a enjoyable nice meal . Staff nice and polite always a busy place so would book a table .

We love it here! Usually get carvery but sometimes do order off the menu. Me my mum and gran all devoured our food. Great value for money, polite and helpful staff. Never a problem here! Keep up the good work! :) xxxx

Chips were great. Chicken wrap was more sweet than chilli. But tasted good if you like sweet chilli chicken

Popped in last night for some fodder, absolutely amazing, the staff was great, food was big healthy portions, taste fantastic,only drawback was the heart burn but that wasn't anything to do with the food of the restaurant lol I need to learn how to control myself, beef rib and duck dishes are ones to go for in my opinion, will try the t bone next time, prices are on the cheaper side of average. Thank you very much, we should pay you visit more often

Value for money. What I'd class as going out for tea rather than going to a restaurant for Dinner. Was quite noisy.

Went for 1st time today , anniversary meal . I had lamb chops , mash n veg . Generous portions, I 3 lamb chops, 1x was undercooked and other2 over cooked? , had to leave them in end , only ate mash because I was hungry, covered with gravy tasted better, without tasted like powder with hot water added , broccoli had weard taste , very disappointed as heard only good things , too much on menu , husband wants to try carvery, I'm undecided.

The family met up for lunch and this was an easy place for us as I live in Gateshead and my Daughter in Manchester. We found this on Google and it was like hitting the jackpot. I visited on Sunday 2nd June to find the place packed inside and out in glorious Sunshine, we had a booked table but we're allowed to change it to outside so grandkids could play in the very well stocked play area. The food could not have been better with myself getting the carvery which at £13 for a large plate was well worthwhile. A choice from 4 meats and a delicious looking steak pie. I settled for beef and pork and both were cooked to perfection and full of flavour, tge while range of vegetables were plentiful and again cooked to perfection with a choice of 4 different gravies. The family settled for a mixture of burgers and chicken salads and all of us were very satisfied. The bill for 4 adult meals 2 kids meals and drinks was £60 and worth every penny

This was okay. A bit cold and not somewhere where you might want to take children that know what bad language is, but otherwise okay.

The service and pub atmosphere is fantastic it's a lovely spot to go for a drink. I was a little disappointed with the food I think maybe too many menu items have affected the quality of the food but still enjoyed my meal.

10/10, carvery was absolutely spot on. Very busy day but managed to get a carvery within 10 minutes of arrival. Prices very good value for money. Would of happily paid more.

A party of 10 enjoyed an excellent dinner on Saturday 20th April 2024. As far as I’m aware everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was excellent. We were twice reminded of the time the carvery finished, in case we wanted to partake of it. Good food, nice drinks and helpful polite service. Couldn’t fault it. Hope to return soon.

Popped in for a meal while on a weekend away to York. WOW - lovely venue, great staff and the food was absolutely amazing and well worth the money. Will definitely eat here again when back up this way. Excellent value for money and a great experience 👏 👍

Called in cobbler during the week and had 2 lovely carvery’s as always the lager was lovely and the staff first class . We were too full to get a pudding 🍮

First time visiting, nice location with large car park, lots of lovely and friendly staff. Food was delicious only negative for us was the swearing kids on the table behind us when the football was on and the parents were no better

Went for a meal but found there was no food except crisps after 6.00pm. The place looked clean and the staff were helpful. Disappointing that this pub does not sell food after 1800 hours.

Excellent food at a reasonable price

Very busy good staff well organised and great atmosphere. Food hot in some cases sizzling. Definitely recommend this as family venue it also has a play area and highchairs for little ones.

Why do you have to pay £1.00 for a portion of veg? The meat was tough, it wasn't 'brasided' long enough. The prices have shot up, I know we are in a cost of living crisis but every other eatery offer veg as standard. 3 dissolusioned customers who wont be back.

first time here and boy was it busy - I can tell why, the food was great - had the 16oz rump with onion rings and was cooked very well - sunday dinner was good and all food were good portions. will definately be coming again. 5⭐️ from us.

Attended an organised function (Burns Supper) and was very pleased with the whole event, the food, entertainment and the welcoming atmosphere of the place led to a very enjoyable evening. Large car park. There is wheelchair access though moving from one area to another could involve going outside to come back in another door as there are some steps between rooms.

Went for a meal in the evening and it was terrible. 8 months ago I couldn’t fault it and loved the steak. However, I found a hair in my stater that was a few inches long and my burger was like something from a low league football ground. My partner’s pasta dish was covered in oil and the side salad looked brown and tired. Won’t be going again…

Visited The Cobbler in December the week before Xmas. We booked a table a few days in advance as we knew it would be busy, especially given the time of year. Four of us opted for the carvery. This was cooked to a very good standard in our opinion on our visit. Three of us also had a sweet and this was also very good. Both dishes were good value for money. The drinks were also priced fairly as well. I live locally to the Cobbler and I know it is popular and can get quite busy at certain times. Pleasant and polite service from staff while we were there and it was very busy. Almost every table taken and some large parties of diners. Very good Christmassy atmosphere. We will be visiting again in the future.

Lovely Saturday afternoon spent watching the football, a couple of pints, food, good service. I even managed to keep my top on as requested by the sign at the front door for all patrons (male and female). From what I saw, all other patrons had followed suit as well. Thank you

Very good carvery every day and good atmosphere.

I had the large fish and chips, which wasn't very large, not a bad size but not has advertised unfortunately. The chips had been cooked in mucky oil making them taste of the mucky oil. The fish batter was still soggy and not fully cooked. The fish wasn't the best either, not the flakey lovey white flesh you'd expect. The batter had lots of oil still in it when pressed the oil drained onto the plate. I was told that this was the place to be for food but unfortunately it wasnt this time well not for me amyway. My wife had the carvery and it looked beautiful and she said it was too I only wish that i had had it instead of the fish.

Had not been for a long time, however, not disappointed with the whole experience.

Alhoewel op de buitenmuur "restaurant" staat is dit de perfecte plaats voor een uitstekend "barmeal". Je bestelt namelijk zelf aan de bar (of kiest voor hun "carvery") en dan wordt het wel aan de tafel gebracht (carvery is selfservice). Een voldoend ruim aanbod aan lekkere voorgerechten, hoofdgerechten en nagerechten aan degelijke prijzen. Je krijgt voldoende tijd tussen de verschillende gerechten. De huiswijn is goed. Opgelet wel, als je de "Yorkshire Puddings" als voorgerecht neemt krijg je een gigantische portie van 5 superlekkere "Yorkshire Puddings" met heerlijke gravy, dus als je nog een hoofdgerecht wil verorberen ... Je boekt best wel van tevoren als je zeker wil zijn van een tafel.

Had the carvery today and I was very disappointed the mash was watery the mushy peas wasn't even cooked right to make them mushy the stuffing was like porridge not even a little bit of crisp on top from the oven. It was like water had just been added to a stuffing mix and just put straight out. Not very nice at all. The only thing I really enjoyed on my plate was the pie and it felt like I didn't get enough of that considering I got the larger plate. All in all service was good and the atmosphere is pleasant but the food leaves much to be desired considering this is my third time there and every other time was beautiful. What has changed?

Just visited for first time after reading really good reviews not impressed at all . I ordered fish baguette which was nice then beef baguette which was so dry and asked for a little bit of gravy and was told £0.95 unbelievable.if I’d have bought hot beef sandwich gravy was free and was 0.20 p Dearer than my sandwich.the salad was off too won’t be visiting there again and staff so unhelpful

Had the carvery, it was ok! The mash was ok but the rest of the potatoes had a strange taste! Couldn't even cut the roasts! Would go again & try something different on the menu! Not sure on the youngsters waiting on, not over friendly & it we felt like we were being rushed! Theres also a mirror on the wall which one lad was messing with his spots whilst he was waiting on plus some of the girls doing their hair, not really acceptable when their serving your meals!!!!! Hence the low stars! Bar staff very friendly though!!

Scrappy potatoes, chips, veg was dry, meat was dry and salad bar was old. We explained to the young waitress who did not respond other than to remove our plates and cultlery. We watched the server pour fresh food into the old dried food and then mix it together ready for the next customers. We sent an email to complain both to the Facebook page and company email, both were ignored. The Facebook shows that it has been read. Really disappointing.

Excellent carvery, well priced, enough for the best eaters.
