Not worth it! Run down, unfriendly and many more places to explore in this lovely town. A blot on the landscape. Go elsewhere.

Lovely little pub, great atmosphere and prices! It has small but perfect pub garden out the back with a screen to watch sport

Awesome traditional English pub! People and staff were very welcoming and friendly! We had a great time meeting and talking with the local people from the town and learning about Alton's history.

Bar staff very friendly and polite and after my first visit they remember me and what I drink which makes me feel wanted and not just another number, the management are friendly and welcoming and are always ready to talk. The security is top notch making me feel safe at all times making me feel safe, I love to drink and socialise there because the patrons are always willing to talk to me and I feel better as well because nobody judges me bt my disability, I would recommend the white horse to everyone for a good and safe time, I hope tobe returning as much as I am able to. God bless everyone there.

Absolutely despicable pub. I saw a large man very drunk and they kept serving him. Then when he needed an ambulance because he passed out face down drunk. They refused to call one because of their reputation. Avoid at all costs. Money grabbers and the owner has had an affair with his sons girlfriend. Says a lot about them as people. No duty of care to their customers. Avoid avoid avoid. I will not be returning. It’s a shame because it use to be a respectable place.

Situated opposite the Wetherspoons which may account for the prices. Wetherspoons must be one of the most soulless pubs I have ever been in. The White Horse had a lovely atmosphere and helpful and friendly staff. Prices compared to Wetherspoons so why go there. Beware though, if you don't like T.V. screens with constant football then this is not the pub for you.

Me and my wife visited here over the bank holiday weekend and it was so welcoming friendly and great value we went back twice more, showing sport and such a lovely atmosphere and the locals were fantastic. The landlady was so helpful they also have a meat draw on the Sunday at 7pm and you get a raffle ticket with every drink you buy, a great proper pub.

I am writing to put a certain post here correct, the post accusing the landlord and landlady of being racist is way off. I was in the pub at the time the two gentlemen came in 15.10 on Christmas Day and had been asked to drink up as they where shutting, which was fine as everyone deserves to spend time with their loved ones. They asked for a drink but rules are rules and the pub was shutting and no time was the landlord racist or rude to the gentlemen, just bad timing and to accuse them of being racist is out of order.

Went in there on Christmas day with friends. It was in the afternoon. Pub was full of people. But we were told that they are closed and so is the bar, even though I saw customers being served. The only reason they were closed was because we were Asian. It was pretty upsetting. Hope the racist MF reads this.

It was football on TV I guess but stood at the bar for about 10 minutes waiting to be served. Seems locals took full priority and not even acknowledged we were there. We just had to walk out. With management and staff skills like that we will not be back.

Since discovering this pub I’ve had several great evenings at the White Horse. The bar staff are friendly, the beer is kept well and the atmosphere is good. The managers are welcoming and helpful and often organise entertainment such as a band or DJ at the weekends as well as a traditional meat draw on a Sunday afternoon. Highly recommended!

Had a great afternoon/evening here. Stayed longer as had such a lovely time. Friendly, helpful bar staff, especially the 2 young men. Nothing was too much trouble. The managers made us very welcome as new customers. The entertainment was fab! The regulars sure know how to enjoy an evening here! Can’t wait to go back. Thank you!

I have to say, if the Ivy House hadn't thrown my dog and me out, I shouldn't have found this pub. It was a wet Saturday and we were in need of shelter. We, my dog and I, had a hospitable welcome and I enjoyed a very good pint of Pride. The dog rather enjoyed the crisps. We will be back.

My party of 20 people were delayed by an hour and a half, but the pub very kindly rescheduled us for later and fitted us in. There was a pre-order on the food, but even so everything arrived on the tables within ten minutes of our arrival. The food was excellent all-round: ample, tasty and fresh, yet modest in price. The staff were amazingly well-organised and welcoming too. Plus, the hamlet-setting is idyllic, on the edge of the High Weald AONB.

Despite the board on the outside of the pub, this establishment does not do lunches!! I didn't particularly care for the attitude of the 'bar maid' - very rude - so I wont be going back.

Very friendly, casual pub. A cider and lots of beers on tap. Nice, comfortable indoor seating and a few picnic tables out front as well. The classic English pub facade makes sitting outside quite lovely.

We stopped for lunch at a time when there were only a few other customers. The young man taking our order didn't seem to know what he was doing. 45 minutes later, we asked where our food was, and were told it would take another 20-30 minutes. No reason was given for the delay. We asked for our money back and left.

I went to this pub to try an evening meal, wasn't sure what to. Think when I walked through the door as its a very old building and you just never no what to expect. But the barmaid was very nice and friendly so I had the chicken with baked potatoes and some beens followed by chocolate fudge cake with custard, all freshly cooked non of the processed rubbish just good food and would definitely reccomend this place.

We went for one of the midweek roast events and what a disappointment it was. There was a very lukewarm welcome when we arrived and we were directed to the table with a point of the finger. The food was served quickly and just plonked in front of us. There was no asking what we’d pre-ordered so two of us got the wrong meals. This was rectified when we told them. It was hot but was very mediocre. I think my lamb died of old age. I couldn’t cut it, it was that tough. The potatoes were OK, the peas were peas that had once been frozen, carrots overcooked, the gravy was like water, the parsnips were OK and the saving grace was the cheese sauce on the cauliflower/brocolli. The Apple crumble was nice but again just plonked in front of us. The custard was lumpy. How much was all of this? It was a whopping £25 a head without so much as a jug of water on the table. It was daylight robbery. We wont be back.

No longer a pub - it was closed down months ago and has been undergoing a lot of construction work. There is local talk of it having been purchased some type of medical conglomerate.

I booked a table in the restaurant for a special occasion. On arrival we were told that there was a half hour wait for food. We were fine with this as we understand it was a busy time with it being the fireworks night locally. What we were not prepared for was the unfortunate attitude of the supervisor when we complained to her about it being an excessive wait of one and a half hours for the food. She did not care at all. She was smirking . The food was very nice. But the supervisor did not care that the lateness of the food caused us to miss the fireworks night locally. We thought 2 hours prior to it was adequate enough. Had we been told there was over an hour to wait for food we would have cancelled our booking. I am sure supervisor will not care but we will not be returning. We can overlook food being late but will not overlook the poor attitude of this supervisor that clearly did not give a hoot and actually smirked when we told her we had missed the fireworks.
