I absolutely love this pub and the Thai food is just the best. All staff members make you feel extremely welcome and it's a very clean establishment.

First time having a Thai menu although there was a traditional English pub menu. The young man was brilliant and the Aussie lady behind the bar was a credit to the pub. Food was amazing and service great. Highly recommend.

I booked 18 people for Thai food over the Easter bank holiday, we had an absolute blast, Alice and her team were amazing, the Thai food & drinks were 5*! So happy this pub is now come back to life.

Last weekend i celebrated my 60th here, the Thai food was amazing, and my 60 guests enjoyed it too, we had part of the bar reserved for us, along with the outside area (The Courtyard) it was just perfect the friendly staff did a fantastic job and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting similar, thanks to Alice and her team 5*

A refresh has brought this pub back to the community, a real pleasure on a Friday evening. Welcoming, fresh, comfortable and the Thai food was incredible. We’ll definitely be back!

The White Horse hosted my 60th birthday party and Lisa and Richie worked hard to make it a fantastic evening. All my guests had a great time. Food was party snack food, but everyone had positive thigs to say about it. Thanks so much for making my evening so memorable!

The hosts were most welcoming, friendly and very attentive. The food was lovely and well presented. Overall a most enjoyable meeting before a wedding rehearsal.

I came here with a couple of friends for a late lunch on a Saturday. We booked in advance but we’re surprised to be the only ones in there, so atmosphere could have been better. Menu looked great although we were disappointed to find after having taken our orders that the kitchen was only doing pizza, maybe this was limited covid service though. The pizza was delicious and huge but just hadn’t realised this would be the only option. Avoid house white at all costs though!!! The staff were friendly but seemed quite confused and unsure, maybe someone’s first day. The lunch didn’t detract from our day out but I would try somewhere else if I came back to Chorleywood.

Met friends here as a halfway house after driving past it for years. Had no particular expectations but the service was very attentive and although menu is not that extensive we all ordered pizzas and they were extremely good. In fact the best I can remember eating in this country. Desserts were also top notch.

Excellent atmosphere Great customer service.A must to visit when in the area. Great food! From the moment I was greeted at the door I felt at home. Hope to come back soon.

Had a fab evening at the White Horse last night. I had no idea they had a lovely hidden courtyard - it’s totally covered, with excellent heaters, and it’s been decorated really nicely. On what was a cold and miserable day, we weren’t cold at all and we had a really great evening. Family feel to the pub with really nice owners/ managers who really looked after us. Fab pizzas too! We will definitely be returning.

Met up with friends to watch rugby. What a friendly welcome and great service all afternoon. The atmosphere was very relaxed whilst still observing the rules we all need to follow. The pizza was excellent. Will definitely be back again soon

Lovely pub, great food and service, cant fault anything, since we live in Spain we loved the Spanish tapas on the menu, which had something for everyone, the pil pil was very authentic, will definitely be coming back,

Last Sunday, a very wet lunchtime four of us went to the White Horse for the first time, Menu was very good and interesting, not the usual roasts, but burgers, tapas, pizzas and more. Nice décor and pretty outside too, which I shall look forward to on warmer days. Very welcoming staff & management and yes we shall definitely be back for more.

Although I have lived in Croxley Green for many years, and driven past The White Horse many times, last Wednesday was this first time I had ventured inside. I was with my wife and daughter, and we called in for a drink and some lunch. As soon as you step inside the pub, there is a cosy and friendly feel to it. It was a sunny day, and so we sat out in the lovely courtyard area. The staff were friendly and helpful, and when we saw the menu, there was plenty of choice. My wife and daughter had a “build your own” pizza and I had the hoisin duck wrap - and both were delicious. I often judge a place on the state of the toilets, and these were spotless and modern. I would certainly recommend this pub, and my only regret is that I don’t live closer ( within walking distance), as this is just the sort of place I would love as my local pub. However, I will definitely be back.

Had a couple of recent meals here. Tapas menu is very interesting, well priced and very tasty. presented on nice salads with lovely dressings and parmesan shavings. also has lovely flatbreads and flavoured breads and the pizzas are very authentic, delicious and well priced. Nice pub atmosphere, well decorated and friendly

Hostess greeted us with usual smile welcome. The food is extremely tasty and very reasonable..The service is fast and the food is always freshly cooked. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they all seem to be a very happy team.

Last minute friends get together which turned into a great evening. We all ordered various dishes from the tapas menu. When the dishes came out they were all hot, delicious and good sized portions. Service was excellent as was the wine and the company. The outside back patio area of the pub has had a new look and is now much more enclosed and cosy especially as it was raining when we visited. All in all a great choice and a great success.

We were fortunate enough to win a voucher to have lunch at this establishment at a local charity night. We're in our 40's and frankly, it's a rare opportunity to get out as a couple so we were quite excited at the prospect of having an hour or so together with lunch and maybe a mid-week lunchtime glass of wine.When we arrived, we had a warm welcome and were presented with a good Italian/Spanish menu. Lots to choose from and we ended up with a blend of pizza and tapas. What struck me was that we clearly hadn't just stumbled into a local pub, but we'd found somewhere a bit different. The owners clearly had a local connection. They knew the area and they really cared about it. They've invest time and effort with the local schools and charities. The voucher we had wasn't just a lucky find but a genuine example of a local business meeting community where it matters most.We can't recommend more highly. Not many places where heart meets good food. Give it a try

Despite the disappointment of England loosing to Wales, we had a great afternoon/ evening in this well run, welcoming, friendly pub. The service was fast and efficient, the set up thought out well with plenty of screens for viewing the match. We had an assortment of pizzas, all very tasty and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back.

Visited The white horse whilst waiting for my son at a party. Very welcoming, staff were very friendly, nice menu selection to choose from and fast service. Very buzzy place, busy to full, but some seating available. Have never been here but will re-visit.

New ownership. Very cosy with log burning fireplace. Richie was busy in the kitchen - non-stop cooking and Lisa and Courtney serving us. The Tapas dishes flowed continuously for 45 mins until all 72 dishes were served. Everyone was delighted with his meal and all orders were served correctly!!We had a wonderful time. We provided our own entertainment without objection from the landlords. Well done Richie for for running a tight ship and turning this pub around for the enjoyment of all of us. Cheers. Was looking for a quick lunch, nothing involving multiple courses. The White Horse is the nearest pub, but hadn’t been in there for years. Food was astoundingly good. Prices astoundingly modest. Beer choice excellent. Staff friendly. A great ‘rediscovery’.

My wife and I wanted to go for a pub lunch yesterday, and decided to goto Ricky to a pub I knew about, of course I forgot where it was got into a row with the wife as she was driving and then we kept driving in the A404 and then got stuck in more traffic and so my wife has another go at me - totally justified,

Had a family visit for the Tuesday night quiz and we all had a course or two. I had a pepperoni pizza and it was very good, The welcome was warm as well. I will definitely return.

The drinks are the cheapest in the area and the food is fresh and very tasty. The staff are also very friendly and helpful

I am sure that this pub will be incredibly popular under the new management. We had such a warm welcome, the food was absolutely fantastic and the roaring log fire was just what we needed on a cold day. The pub is immaculately clean and also very characterful. And so tastefully furnished

Needed a quick lunch and received a warm welcome from the lovely Lisa and talented chef, Ben.

Just popped in for a quick snack & a pint half way round walking on Chorleywood Common. My first visit since the new owners took over and I was impressed. Friendly and warm greeting at the bar and a nicely kept pint of Aspall's cider. The warm ciabatta sandwich with brie, bacon and walnuts and a side salad was very acceptable and reasonably priced. Sensibly, they've separated the sports watching area from the eating and drinking area. It wasn't the weather for sitting outside, but the garden area is interesting and should be fun in the summer. I'll definitely be back another time or three!

I had dropped my son to do his consortium test at St Clement's Dane's school.

Not sure about this place when we arrived because of the music and TV screen, however pleasantly surprised by the dining room and the music was turned down when we requested.

We stopped for a quick drink and stayed. All afternoon. Friendly knowledgeable staff great food especially the pizzas . I highly recommend this pub for catching up with friends or a lazy afternoon reading the newspapers

We came off the M25 at Chorleywood because of an accident and decided to stop at the White Horse for lunch as it looked inviting. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the pizza was extremely tasty and best of all the toilets were sparkling clean. A really good place to go for a pizza lunch.

Came to the pub to see the relaunch last night and what a great night good luck too the new people great job ,especially the prosecco and raspberry gin .

At last the White Horse has got back to being a pub, with a good bar selection of beer, lager and spirits. A very reasonably priced selection of light snacks and ample proportioned meals are also available. The decor is quite new, with open plan and snug areas to have a drink or dine. Certainly I've enjoyed the open fire in the main bar in these cold winter conditions and when summer comes there are 2 out door areas with table and chairs to enjoy.

A little reluctant when my husband and I decided to come for dinner last night but I am glad we did. The pub now has a new manager and staff who are very welcoming. The menu has changed and now has a lot more variety. The portions are huge and delicious! The Gate down the road has some competition!

I went again.....as i thought my response might of been a little harsh first time around....food was better....place was warm...fire was on...and background music was playing...well done

I hear lots about people wanting a lovely cozy welcoming local environment with good quality food and drink and hospitality well look no further than the White Horse in Chorleywood as Stew and Jacqui are first class hosts their staff are wonderful and the food is first class all in a lovely quirky setting.I think the blackboard over the fireplace says it all Meat like it used to be in a pub like it should be.This little gem is well worth a try.

New managers are really lovely and welcoming. There is a fantastic warm log fire. Food was fantastic.. served quickly and really tasty good quality food.Easy parking. Highly recommend this pub!Also they do warm baguettes in the day... beef, pork, turkey and stuffing.. perfect for these cold days!!

dinner for 3 was good. Its quite a large restaurant and was very busy on the night we were there. Good food.

called on Saturday with family .what a lovely pub staff were really nice very relaxed but really helpful .Our orders were taken quickly food arrived after about 20 mins and everything was cooked to perfection I will definitely be back .Thank you to everyone who made our night out so enjoyable.

After getting lost on the way back from the airport the family and i were getting tired and hungry. We found this lovely pub and pulled in to have adrink and abite 2 eat. I had the half chicken roast with all the trimmings, it tasted amazing the whole meal was fresh and the portions were agood size. The staff were friendly and helpful, we didnt have to wait long for our food to be brought out. Im glad i got lost in away because i never would have found this good old fashioned pub with no loud music and great friendly service. We will definitely be back soon.

Our first visit to Chorleywood and we stumbled upon a lovely pub called the White Horse. A friendly bearded gentleman behind the bar, relaxed atmosphere and excellent food at a reasonable price.I am sure the locals know what a great place this is already and I heartily recommend this establishment to people passing through.

No background music other than from the kitchen!, it was also cold inside!.....£16.99 for roast beef....and you expect more than aunt bessies potatoes, yorkshire puddings and parsnips....to top it of the veg was rock solid.....its a shame last people left as it was excellant.....on the plus side it was clean, friendly server and there was plenty of gravy :-/

We popped in to the white horse a few days ago because a friend had said new owners have taken over,what a pleasant surprise to find the new managers were such a lovely friendly couple. We ended up staying for quite a few drinks and had a great time with them and there customers.we then decided to eat there . The food was excellent.i will be recommending the white horse now to everyone.

No prior notification, saw a couple of removal vans outside the other day and today found the doors locked with a notice attached saying that they have closed...

The owners of this pub create quality food with friendly service. We have visited many times and have enjoyed every visit. Dog friendly helps a lot .

Menu looked interesting but only wanted a light lunch so I ordered a ploughman's, this was the most unusual take on a ploughman's! A slice of brown toast (toast! I expected a hunk of brown bread or a crusty roll which would be the usual offering), a small thin bit of cheese which was so rubbery and tasteless, ham and two slices of Apple, and a small pot of piccalilli. Charge for this : £7.95! My husband had a tasteless fishfinger sandwich, also over rated and expensive.

The place is starting to look scruffy. The table was sticky. The service was poor. We didn't get all that we ordered and when I asked for what was missing the waiter went away and said he would deal with it. He forgot. When we asked for dessert we were told that the cook had left. Couldn't they bother to get something from the fridge or freeze-dried even ice cream? Then had to find the waiter to ask for the bill. Then had to find the waiter to pay for the bill. Dogs running around at 10pm...I will not be going back.

Visited The White Horse for a quick bite to eat. My girlfriend and I wanted just something cheap and cheerful. We both opted for a sandwich light and the cheapest thing on the menu, for me it was a little over priced in there. Quite dark also and didn't really have much atmosphere but overall the food was ok.

Table booked for Tuesday night but pub locked and dark when we arrived. Scruffy notice on the door saying opening times had changed despite large notice outside saying open Monday to Fridat

My husband and I had dinner here last night which was nice enough. They have an offer for burgers on Thursdays but unfortunately this starts next week. We paid £13 for a chicken burger which in my opinion is extortionate but seeing they have the offer starting next week it will be better value for money. The girls behind the bar serving were helpful and friendly. The only thing I would say is missing is the lack of choice on the dessert menu. I was hoping for a sticky toffee pudding or chocolate fondant, something a bit more indulging than what was on offer. We actually walked over to The Gate for dessert so hopefully they take this on board and add an extra choice. We will be back!

Since my last review of the white Horse I/we have been visiting on a regular basis and I must say it never disappoints. Service is friendly and food consistently very good.There's definitely a good buzz in there now and it's nice bringing pals from outside the area to my local pub.Still my only gripes where the point is lost is;1. Better quality serviettes (I know it sounds daft but it gives a place such a good feel).2. That service charge which always nags me.Keep up the good work...

What a find! Took our daughter, son in law and their two kids here for an evening meal. The menu looked a little pricey but Boy! was it worth it. No microwave stuff here. All made from scratch and to a very high standard. One of the best pub meals I have eaten. When the huge hamburger came for our 13 year old grandson, I thought he would never manage to finish it. Wrong! He never stopped eating until it was all gone. I could not get a good strong bitter and we did not try the wine but I would still happily recommend The White Horse for the food, the service and the friendly atmosphere.

Ate there with some friends following the refurbishment. The interior is much improved and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing. Dry and over cooked fish, dry and overcooked potatoes etc. None of us were particularly impressed with our meal. Much better food elsewhere.

Decided to take the boys and dad to the left cal under new management the staff are really friendly especially the GM who worked with one of my favourite Michelin chefs Jason Atherton. They have a SA chef who's food is great I had the fish and chips and minted mushy peas and the boys had steak, dad had the salmon and roasted vegetables and all were great. Will be back again soon thanks for lucking after us Andy and the boys

I just wanted some tea and nuts. This cost £5, the most I've been charged anywhere. The service was friendly. But the nuts were awful, with so much salt on them that they were totally inedible. They were also a bit stale, and served in an old tin. There was no offer to reimburse. Not a pub for the occasional visitor, I feel.

We booked for a Saturday evening on the day for the family. The staff were welcoming. The food and the menu refreshing and tasty. Good beers - at the time Redemption, which I have not seen outside of E.London before.They are welcoming to dogs. We were provided with a dog menu for the little fella as he was envious of a nearby dogs bone. That kept him quiet for the rest of the evening.All in all great find.

This pub/restaurant has turned around nicely since the new guys took over a year ago or so. Very friendly manager and staff. Good to see the football TV screens and screaming kids have gone. Lovely little local.

We stopped on the off chance quite late on a Saturday evening, and although it was busy, they were able to find us a table for 2. The menu was excellent, and our food choices were both delicious. This is definitely one to recommend.

Came here on a whim, and had an incredible meal. Main course haloumi burger and apple pie. I highly recommend. Really great pub food.

Stopped off here for a drink and a snack on our way back home. Very nice bar staff, and the menu was brought to us at our table (why weren't menu's already on the tables?). Pint of beer, large glass of wine and two fish finger sandwiches, which were quite tasty. Bill way £25.43 for this, why? They add a 12.5% service charge!! This is a pub for goodness sake, albeit quite a pleasant one. I tip when I think the service warrants it, walking across a bar with two plates of sandwiches doesn't! Won't be going back!

My wife and I went for a drink & a snack, over £25, 1 sandwich each & 1 glass of wine + a pint of beer. 12.5% service charge! Will not be going there again. Often go to another Greene King pub cheaper food & real ale £3 a pint. Gratuity optional.

Great food, beer and service at this friendly pub. The burgers were particularly good, consisting of home made char grilled burgers with a range of interesting toppings. They are served with excellent chunky chips (crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle) and the rest of the menu looked fine too.The beer selection was good for a Greene King owned pub.

Absolutely delicious food and very good service. Every course was exemplary and so tasty. Will definitely return for more of the same. There is a delightful patio garden which will be idyllic in warm weather.

A nice find. It’s quite cosy, but not overly intimate and had a good selection on the menu including a special St Georges’ Day menu which was a nice touch. The food was very good with everyone enjoying all three courses. I really liked the selection of drinks as well, not just the usual suspects. If you’re in the area worth checking out

I went for lunch, had soup of the day (basil and tomato) and a fish finger sandwich. Soup was freshly made but lacked favour (like a tomato had been pureed) but was ok, the sandwich disappointing; lots of bread with a few birdseye type fish fingers, I couldn't taste the fish. In a gastro pub I would expect home made.

Fantastic place, very clean, airy and most of all staff are so lovely and courteous, excellent customers service totally unlike its neighbour The Gate which is the worst place. Very nice menu, food and service is Second to None. Totally enjoyed lunch after a long drive from the Yorkshire. Well done. Keep up the good food and service. See you again soon.

We stopped for a coffee here and it was lovely. the bar is cosy, the barman was friendly and attentive. The toilets were very clean.

I have lunched at the White Horse a further 6 times since my first review in February. Each time I brought family or friends with me, recommending the gastropub, especially the pan seared calf's liver. Everything excellent until my recent visit on April 7th. We were seated beside a table with a couple of young mums with 2 or 3 extremely noisy children aged about 5. There was another table of young mums and children near the log fire who were all sitting and talking quietly - no problem. We asked the waiter if it was a special children's day but apparently not. The noise in a small wood floored room with low ceiling made it impossible to hear ourselves speak. Another couple got up and left. The experience completely spoiled our lunch although the food was as good as ever. Perhaps we should have expected the waiter to ask the mothers to keep their children from shouting so loudly. GM Karl was not on duty. A difficult situation but I hesitate to recommend again. Incidentally there is an e-mail booking system but don't use it - no one replies!!

Agree with other reviews, this is a real turnaround. Food is excellent and service is getting there too. Burgers were top quality. Worth another try if you were disappointed when they first opened.

Came twice in the same day..once for drinks and then later for dinner to take advantage of the burger Tuesday deal.The staff are really friendly and accommodating, and the food is spot on, particularly the halloumi burger! Lovely atmosphere and overall, a lovely country style pub.Would recommend!!

Second visit and it doesn't disappoint. Friendly welcome from Karl. The menu has enough choice to suit various tastes but not so large as to question the freshness. Most food is sourced from the local area.We had calves liver with mash and veg - tender, melt in the mouth texture with a wonderful jus. My mother had the creamy salmon gnocchi which was tasty with plenty of perfectly poached salmon and gnocchi cooked exactly to the right consistency. Portions are generous so we just managed a mango sorbet and stem ginger ice cream. Service was friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. The interior is warm and bright. Highly recommended.

Went there for Sunday dinner, really good lamb shank & all the trimmings. Staff were able to suggest drinks etc with the food menu. Had Toffee Honeycomb Sundae for dessert, very good.Great pub, with a good atmosphere and good range of ales.

went there recently for a Sunday lunch given it is under new management. Impressive food made on the premises with a great service and management that really cares.The food came across as "home made" and none of this put it in the oven ready made meals served by many of the pubs....like the one across the road!We are vegetarians and that was not a problem. They even went out of their way to make a veggie gravy.

Never eaten in here before but have wanted to since it's refurbishment by the new owners last year. Finally got round to booking a table for Sunday lunch earlier this month. Decor is refreshed with some nice finishing touches. Staff very friendly and helpful. Starter of goat's cheese mousse and beetroot was heavenly. Looked like something from a fine dining restaurant and tasted as good as it looked. Some of our party had burgers, all said how good they were. I had roast beef and all the trimmings, which was very nice. They had run out of my chosen dessert but put on something similar instead, so I had that. Very nice but probably a bit too sweet for my taste. All in all, a very good lunch and would both recommend and dine there again.

This pub was absolutely heaving on mothers day. We had lovely roast dinners, and for dessert chocolate ganache and creme brûlée. The service was great and made special with a small bad of chocolates for all the mothers on the table. Also previously been in on a Tuesday night for burger night - fab!

Known this inn for over fifty years. Now it has new management and menu good food wine and beer and friendly service. Oh and greeted on this cold wet day with a nice coal and log fire
