I ate here on consecutive nights during my weekend in Blakeney, since my first visit was excellent in almost every respect. The waiter was very helpful when I complained about the sticky table, explaining that it was due to over-use of sanitzer and moving me to another table with a glass top. My simple haddock and chips was perfect. Thin crispy batter, a generous helping of tartare sauce and deliciously minty pea puree. On the second night the starter of smoked mackerel pate and the seared tuna and cucumber salsa of the mains were similarly excellent. But the bed of couscous was drenched in a shoyu-based dressing that was inedibly salty. I do not mean just a bit salty. I mean heart-attack salty. A professional chef should obviously not make such a simple error and at the very least should taste their creation before passing it for service. I duly complained (though did not just send it back as I should have). The waiter deleted the service charge without my asking, but I left gasping for water despite having eaten barely 10% of the cous cous. On reflection the waiter should have apologized and returned it to the kitchen themself. The incident marred what would otherwise have been a 5-star review.

Another 'boutique' type of business, which basically means nothing. Half a pigeons breast (more like a quarter) cut up finely with a few extras (basically 2 small mouthfulls) just under £10 - I wus jizzled! Mediocre service with a discretionary 'service' charge on the bill. I would have questioned payment of it but paid so I could write this revue. Why do businesses think so highly of themselves when they really do not meet that standard? I was not impressed with any of my food, but having made the choice......

Menu looked good so our family booked for a Friday night. Table was good and the pub respected our booking wish for a corner table which was nice. Decor is good and welcoming atmosphere. But the food was at best average, and generally overpriced for what it was. On the plus side the braised rib was decent, but the butternut squash curry was more like a soup with a few (I’d say 8 or 9) small dice-sized cubes of butternut squash. Poor given that it’s not an expensive item. Would have expected better. It wasn’t a bad meal overall, but we all left feeling it should have been better.

Been coming here for ages so booked for Easter lunch. So disappointing. Food was below average, cold and congealed. My friend’s pie was swimming in a pool of watery sauce. Clearly cooked by someone who doesn’t give a damn. Slow service. During lunch, a pair of cleaners wandered through carrying cleaning stuff and a bag of bathroom rubbish! The furnishings are ripped and worn. It’s like no one cares at all.

1st time staying here, though we have eaten here a few times, our room is super cosy and cute. Lovely furnishings and looks like it's all been renovated. Friendly, helpful staff. Dinner tonight was very nice. Mama got the haddock which was a whale of a fish that hardly fit on the plate! I had the beef blade. We were too stuffed for dessert, even though the choices were yummy, so we went for a Bailey's Coffee, which was made perfectly to our taste! (Best Bailey's coffee I've ever had btw!) Look forward to our beds and a second night tomorrow. Recommended

We visited this venue early evening during a break in the area. It is quite large and offers accommodation on site. It is modern and well cared for, the staff are friendly and attentive. Because of its popularity I would suggest booking before considering dining as we observed the bar fills very quickly with guests enjoying pre dinner drinks. Worth a visit.

We had been here before shortly before Covid and it was an excellent experience. However our recent visit was quite the opposite. When arrived in Blakeney the quay carpark was full and it was a hot sunny day. At about 12:30 we entered the White Horse, we were then very surprised to find it completely empty. After a while a rather disinterested member of staff appeared and we ordered some beers. At £5.50 a pint for a local beer we found that expensive, but the real shock was when we went back to buy two packets of crisps at £2 a packet! When we queried the price we were told that it was correct. We sat in the garden, which was also empty of customers, drunk our drinks and left. We had intended to eat there but could only imagine that the meals were also excessively priced, so we did not even bother to look at the menus. We are here for two weeks but The White Horse is crossed off our list of places to eat and drink. I suggest you save yourself some time and do the same.

Popped in for a drink late afternoon, not many customers and no one behind the bar. The man who turned out to be the barman was on the customer side of the bar, chatting away with someone and looking at a laptop, took quite some time before he bothered to get behind the bar and serve me. Then £8 for a glass of standard wine, that’s nearly £3 more than the other pub nearby and more than the Blakeney Hotel just round the corner. So, not good service and very expensive wine, won’t be back.

We stumbled on this place because we saw the sign saying they had a car charging point. As we were on our first long distance trip since buying an electric car, we were greatly relieved to spot this. So, we charged the car - just a bit - and went in to have lunch. What a treat! Very good food and cheerful service. We both had the lamb rump. This was tender and tasty and served pink as we like it. Only later did we discover many others had recommended this place on trip advisor. Quite right too.

This week while dining a number of venues are using the new camera onto QR code on the table and I was surprised the White Horse hadn’t switched to this or at least offered it. Does make things more efficient than trying to find or waiting for the busy waitress at the end of the meal. (Globe in Wells & Cliff Hotel Gorleston)

This was our first visit to the White Horse restaurant and it was well organised with regards to the Covid-19 situation. The crab linguine main course was really poor, as the pasta was well overcooked and then dish was watery when served. The crab meat was also questionable as it left us feeling slightly under the weather the following days. The starter and dessert were fine, chocolate brownie is definitely a great choice. Service was good. The lager had a peculiar smell which was off-putting but the gin was nice.

I was disappointed with a limited menu in part my fault I was expecting a supplementary specials board but there wasn’t one which left our choices limited. We were given a table in the conservatory which was fine on arrival but with both doors open it became rather cold our table was adjacent to the double doors constantly getting up to close the door after someone left was getting a tad tedious and frustrating. Towards the end of our meal I went to the bar and asked the young man in charge if we could be moved to another area due to it being chilly I personally didn’t think it would be a problem looking around there was only two other tables in use, the young man quickly replied - no I have no other tables that have been sanitised/cleaned now I’m not an authority on the cleaning of tables but I assumed a cloth and antibacterial spray would suffice to do the job, feeling not like a valued customer in these strange times I paid our bill and left - we had a further table reservation for Sunday Evening which I have today canceled a nice venue but sadly on this occasion the customer service was non existent

Decided to book a table here for Sunday lunch as Blakeney was at overflowing point (it was August) and the menu looked to have a good range of local dishes.I ate a Thai crab cakes dish which was very well presented with a nice balance of flavours. I then had traditional haddock and chips. The portion size was generous. I have a good appetite but couldn’t finish it all. I may be in the minority but I still feel that going down the American route of portions that are too large doesn’t benefit anybody, especially as everything else in the restaurant is leaning towards something more chic.My wife ate an excellent Cromer filled crab and then a very good salade niçoise. The local crab dishes in particular are high quality. The only minus points personally for me are the fact that the chips that came with the haddock were already salted with sea salt and it was too much. Secondly, and probably imposed from above by Adnams and the management and staff were trying their best to make it work, there was an overly complicated ordering and payment system using a QR code on the table and mobile phones. I can see the logic as it is designed to limit contact for staff, but most of the people eating either couldn’t or didn’t want to make it work which meant that the staff had to come to the tables anyway to explain. Don’t let that put you off though because the staff are very helpful and worked through it with everybody. Two starters, three mains and two glasses of wine plus some soft drinks came out at £90 which is about what you might expect in this corner of London-on-Sea.

Visited this pub many times but left feeling a little disappointed after this visit. Sat in the small but pretty garden to the rear. I ordered the Greek meze dish. The chicken strips were very overcooked and dry, the lettuce was yellow, suggesting it was old and not the freshest. Hummus was tasty though but I felt that the dish wasn’t really worth the price(around £17 I think). That said, my son’s fish and chips were fantastic. Staff were also friendly and organised. So a bit of a mixed review really, maybe I just ordered the wrong dish.

On our second visit we just wanted a quick drink as had a sleeping baby...we were met with a very rude woman who pointed us down to the bar area..we explained we were only having a quick drink and didnt want to lug the pushchair down the stairs...she said the seating on entrance level (already up three steps!) was fully booked for eating..we asked to sit at one of the tables until the reservation arrived but this was declined. Booked a table on a Saturday night. The restaurant is very bright and lacks atmosphere. The menu is OK but the food on arrival was generally tasteless, unseasoned and one of the meals was so poor they agreed to take it off the bill. The service was poor with the waiting staff being both unable to explain what was on the menu or what sauce was supplied with one of the meals.

The White Horse is popular pub situated near the bottom of the High Street, which makes it a convenient place for locals and tourists alike. We ate here twice during our stay and found the staff friendly and efficient on both occasions.

After a long day we were looking for an early dinner. We eat outside as we had a dog. Water for the dog was a plus. Fish and chips was average compared with others in the area.

I love this pub and it’s food, but tonight they excelled themselves! We had rib-eye steak, dauphinois potatoes with smoked bacon (more subtle than you think), wild mushroom sauce and seasonable vegetables. Cooked to perfection, loved the way it was presented to show you how it was cooked, (I had rare and Carey had medium/well). Our last night and really glad we made this our last stop. Cheers!

Blakeney is such a lovely little place and the white horse serves as the nicest, cleanest steadfast pub in the area. Offers a fantastic selection of drinks from Adnams & more. The food is also very good, although not quite fine dining.. does the job for a reasonably priced meal out. There is also a beer garden that is great in the sunshine!

We usually eat here when in Blakeney, and have always had a great meal. I admit that this is only once or twice a year, and on this occasion we again had an excellent meal. We arrived at about 12.30pm and were met by a pleasant staff member. As it was a reasonable day, we opted for the sheltered court yard, and we were brought menu's etc.

For Christmas we received some Adnams vouchers from our daughters which we decided to put towards a weekend away to celebrate our anniversary. As we love Blakeney area we managed to book a superior double at the White Horse. We arrived early and luckily room was ready so we ordered some sandwiches which we ate in their conservatory room.

Modern decoration and relaxed atmosphere with a very attractive outside terrace for fine weather. The menu was varied with plenty of seafood and the meal was very pleasant. However they have a very strange approach to customer service. We were not allowed to open a tab for drinks and our food order. When our meal was brought to the table the waiters could not take orders for additional drinks but we were told to order at the bar. Had the pub been busy it would have made for a very cold dinner! We asked for a jug of water to be told the waiter could take the order but we would have to go to the bar to get it ourselves.

Busy and friendly pub, where we stopped for a meal on a Monday evening. Sadly both main courses we were wanted to order were sold out by 7.30pm (& as you have to order at the bar this only becomes apparent when you've spent time making your decision, which is doubly frustrating). They told us they'd been extremely busy - but at the height of the summer season I would have expected a pub which is part of a chain to be prepared for busy nights and stock up accordingly. The food we did have was fine, but we enjoyed better meals elsewhere in Blakeney.

A pastiche restaurant designed to cater to the passing tourist trade in Blakeney while masquerading as a gastro pub. It's awful. Over branded (is anything NOT by Adnams?) and utterly lacking in authenticity, flavour, or any reference to local ingredients. This is North Norfolk, absolutely overflowing with great local ingredients. The White Horse was once a good reliable and authentic place for pub food. It has been overstyled and stripped of character. It lets down Blakeney but worse it cheats its customers. The service was entirely robotic. When asked how our meal was, we replied that the service was ok but the food was terrible. 'Good, Thank you and have a good evening' was the vague response which about sums it up.

We visited this pub on two consecutive nights & both nights there was no crab & no spicy beef & not all available ice cream flavours; very poor as this is meant to be a good restaurant/pub but is obviously under new management or not being run in an efficient way. Very disappointed. Why not print a daily menu so people will not be disappointed, it was only 7 at night both nights so not exactly late dining.

In one of the busiest periods of the year - a sunny summers day in the school holidays - this place doesn’t serve food after 2.30... The chef was asked by the manager to provide a sandwich or something but refused. The best he managed in the end was two scoops of ice cream in a bog standard pudding bowl... It’s not as if he had been busy earlier on because the place was virtually empty and I’m not surprised.

We arrived in eager anticipation of a nice dining experience. We were rather underwhelmed by the menu and did contemplate leaving and going elsewhere. However with Cromer crab on the menu we decided to stay. We thus ordered a chilled bottle of white to share. The waiter subsequently brought this with only two glasses out of 4 required as in his words too many people had been ordering wine and they were waiting for a dishwasher programme to finish (The restaurant was in no way full and in the middle of the peak holiday season should be able to cope with the influx of additional customers). When the missing glasses were delivered they were hot and not the ideal way to enjoy a crisp chilled Sauvignon Blanc. Still we had the crab to look forward to but this was not to be as it was off the menu as it had not been delivered that day. I would have preferred to be informed on that before ordering drinks ( we would have certainly left). Our second choice of food was then served. All of us agreed that the chips were underdone. In addition the table top was sticky. We were then offered the dessert menu but on being handed it we instead received the breakfast menu. With such careless attention to detail we decided it was time to leave feeling rather discontent with our time there. Very disappointing.

We came here on the first night of a four night break, weren't sure what to expect, we tried the earl grey lager which was light and refreshing and I had the humous, absolutely delicious, followed by sea bass with samphire. A fabulous meal, couldn't fault it, a nice relaxed atmosphere and a very enjoyable evening. One minor gripe, the waitress failed to inform anyone about to order that one of the dishes was no longer available.

We had dinner by chance as it looked nice from the outside, really enjoyed the food service was good (ish), the staff seemed to be mostly students but were attentive on the whole. It could be a bit disturbing in the conservatory as you get people moving to and from the garden area but for what we needed at short notice it was fine.

Visited here on our recent stay in Blakeney and it does what it says on the tin. If you like the Adnams brand then this is for you. We didn't eat here as wanted to try different places for a change, but some of the food that came out looked good although in the half hour we were there we did notice 2 dishes were sent back as they had come out cold! As soon as we walked in and sat at the bar we were asked if we were eating there which is always a bug bear of mine, If I want to eat there I will ask them or book ahead, it makes some people panic as they are in a strange environment and being English they feel obliged to stay and eat, PLEASE pubs don't do it, it can have the opposite effect and people wont return. The beer was ok, again over the last decade or so Adnams like many brewers has become so mechanical in its brewing process that although they will tell you different, the beer is not as good as it was purely because of the mass production they do now, saying that it is still as good as most and better than many. A bit lively on the price side of things £4.00 a pint which is fairly standard (cheaper than in Southwold where they brew it, work that one out),but the spirits and mixers seemed expensive to me. A lady ordered a gin and tonic and a pint of Mosaic and it was around £11, like the old days of Marks and Sparks everything is own brand (gin,Vodka,Whiskey) and that includes the wine. Nice and comfortable and clean though and service was pretty good and staff friendly.

Have popped in occasionally and had the most delicious pie and gravy. Was in the area Saturday and thought a lovely pie and gravy will go down a treat on such a cold day. Saturday luch time, no pies on the menu, just a very basic baguette, omlette, baked potato menu, really disappointed. Should have guessed, very sparse of dinners. Ordered the egg baguette, to be told a minute later 'we can't get hold of any eggs'. So all the omlettes were unavailable too. I've just been to a farmers market down the road that's full of eggs and pies! Cheese baguette ok, very cheap colesaw on side( sorry being really picky now). It has changed hands and don't believe the menu online, we won't be going back.

Wow what a find. the best place to eat for miles around if you have dogs with you as it is very dog friendly. We went for Sunday lunch and sat out on the covered terrace next to the lovely garden.
