The White Horse in Chichester

Have had Sunday lunch twice here in the last couple of months and both times the food was superb. There was a group of us the first time and I think we all had something different. The table went silent as everyone concentrated on eating! The Lamb Shank was so tender it fell off the bone. All the roasts came with well cooked vegetables and crispy roast potatoes. Second time round I tried the Steak and Ale Pie. I was expecting flakey pastry and an oven proof dish that you can never get the pie out of - it was nothing like that!!! Instead the beef was encased in thin pastry on top of a bed of mashed potato. Full of flavour. Absolutely delicious. The pub was busy. Lots of locals. The service efficient and attentive. I believe the pub is under new management and they seem to have got it right by keeping it a proper pub with good food rather than turning it in to yet another gastro pub.

WE had eaten here with friends a couple of months ago, felt it great value, and had enjoyed it. So back with the same friends for a two-day early Christmas Lunch ..... BIG MISTAKE .... menu very much the same but quality of food very poor, large helpings smothered in thick brown gravy, single vegetable with sausage and mash (?mash so creamed it must have come from a packet?) and "cottage pie pie" = pastry casing round minced beef) Enough said about main course, desserts (3x"cheesecake" - no resemblance in taste to modern or trad cheesecakes, thick chocolate toppings etc - 1 x 2 scoops vanilla ice cream, came with lots of ice inside and definitely not smooth). SO BEWARE - Prices have risen dramatically since our previous visit - our food with small drinks cost over £100. One of our company wonders whether this place intends being a pub/boozer or a gastropub.

As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by bar staff. A great choice of beers and 2 of my favourite lagers on sale. Everything was explained, how to order food etc. We sat in the garden, and what a great place to be. Even an outside bar for their busy entertainment evenings. Seating for probably around 100 outside. But the best highlight was the food. Just a simple sandwich, Brie, bacon and caramelised red onion on toasted bread. It was brilliant! With chips and cole slaw. Here I am 3 hours later, still filled up. I would love to visit again, but I'm not local, about an hour or so away. But if ever I'm nearby I will call in again I truly recommend you try it. Perfect drink, perfect food and perfect service from perfect staff. One more thing...I don't do reviews...but this place deserves it.

We have been coming here for a few years because the pizzas are quite nice but unfortunately the last experience was not good. We all had tummy upsets that night and I was very sick with stomach cramps. Of course we can not prove that the cause originated at the pub but we just read the negative report from the food hygiene agency and suspect that this is more than coincidence. We have also found the staff can be quite confrontational if we try to complain. We will probably give it one more try in the future but this will be last chance saloon as far as we are concerned.

Terrible pizza and service. The pizza was burned. I had to ask several times to get a jug of water and some ketchup. The bottle of ketchup came almost empty and I asked for some more ketchup and I was told to wipe the table and someone bring it to me. That never happened. I will never go and eat a pizza there again or any other food. That was on a Saturday afternoon lunch time. The pub wasn't even busy at the time. Also, I did not understand the idea of putting on one or two slices of pizza only one ingredient, like olives or like ham.

As a pub it seems like most village pubs. Was friendly with dogs welcome. We had Pizza which looked OK but was so salty. It was not good at all. Disappointing.

We walked from Midhurst to The Whitehorse, about a mile.Lovely star filled sky. The pub was busy a good sign. My beer Abbot Ale was great, the service friendly and welcoming. We ordered two pizzzas and that’s when it went wrong. The prosciutto looked and tasted like Tescos ham, the mozzerllo cheese was cold and the rest Luke warm. We ate it, we paid and left. £36.30 for two poor pizzas, a nice pint and an orange juice. Disappointing

Booked a table for 8 several weeks before visit and there was no table for us when we arrived. Landlord admitted he had taken the booking but not put it in the diary. Really not impressed and saddened that other bookings were clearly more important as there were tables that hadn’t turned up.

Lively gastro pub with a decent menu. Great for Sunday lunch. Broad range of roast dishes - beef, lamb, pork This is a popular haunt. Lots of families with their dogs. Option to sit inside or out. Good range of beers and a limited but good wines.

Part of a post wedding party which was mainly held outside in the garden under a marquee. Thankfully it was a beautiful autumn day although there were plenty of patio heaters around if needed. Food was pre ordered pizzas which were decent. Good well kept beer. Friendly staff. Not much not to like!

This place deserves it's good reviews. The young staff were welcoming and friendly and did a first class job. Fish and chips were top notch and one of the best pizzas (outside Italy anyway). Highly recommended.

Visiting here is always a pleasure. This has been my go to pub for many a year now. Recently, the management have launched this pub into 2021. Here you can expect to find fantastic food cooked by an Italian family who know more about good food than all of West Sussex combined; their wood fired pizza oven adds even more character to the food. Couldn’t recommend more. The staff are well clued up, accommodating and friendly. We were fortunate enough to be served by Ollie and Izzy and they made our evening very pleasant. Drink selection is vast and tasty. Weather ale, larger or gin drinker there is something for everyone here. Set in a fantastic location, this should be your first stop in the lovely town of Midhurst.

Read the reviews about the amazing food and booked a table for dinner - glad we did, the food was awesome. There was a fascinating 50:50 mix of people here. Half were people like us - on a break in the heart of the South Downs and looking for some excellent food in the area. Tables reserved, dressed for a nice dinner, clear expectations of eating at a quality country pub. The other half were local tradies in for a few pints after work. They loudly ‘effed and jeffed’ throwing round all of the sexist and homophobic bants you’d expect from the lads sinking a few after a day’s work. Genuinely amazing food. Staff were lovely. Fascinating mix of clientele.

White Horse Easebourne is slightly off the main road near to Midhurst. Very nice location and a very old pub with a garden. It was quiet. Service was easy, very pleasant and everything came up at the right speed. Food was good, and a good size. Recommend. Mains over £10 with all up cost of £56 for two with drinks and service.

Two words ‘boar tagliatelle’! The new menu at the White Horse is just a bit different from what you might expect from pub food. It has been meticulously drawn up with a leaning towards Italian style cooking and the freshly made pasta really is absolutely heaven. The choices are broad in terms of variety but not overwhelming. What I really think is going to be unique is that the White Horse is now an ‘everyone welcome’ local boozer with an excellent menu, something missing in this area until now.

Went in after a walk round the polo fields and had the pea risotto.when it came I didn.t find any peas. It was alright but wouldn’t.t rush back for it. On another table a man had sausage and mash maybe a veggie sausage and mash would be nice. Excellent service but chech your bill before paying as there was a drink on mine that I didn.t have.

As we were staying at the Cowdray Lodge we walked into Easebourne for an evening meal at the White Horse, we were welcomed by the staff and had a lovely table by the inglenook fire, whilst there was full compliance with the restrictions it was done professionally and didn’t effect the great experience and enjoyment of this wonderful quaint pub which has loads of character. The menu was varied and catered for all tastes, the food we choose was fabulous and the service throughout very good, would 100% recommend a visit if your staying in the Midhurst area

Dropped in for a drink and sandwich Sat lunchtime. Sandwiches with obviously homemade coleslaw were really delicious. Service excellent with really cheerful young lady and the barman also very welcoming. Will visit again to try other options on the menu.

As a group, after a walk we ended up at the pub for a drink and food. Standing at the bar being ignored by staff eating pot noodles and taking painkillers forgetting drinks we had ordered. We all ordered food after waiting more than an hour ( it was not busy), we sent 4 of the 6 plates we orded and we didn't manage to eat at the same time. Its such a shame as we normally have great food and service from here.

Have been hearing mixed reviews about the White Horse recently but I can't fault the food or service last week. Ollie greeted us with a smile and was our waiter for the evening. He was quick to take our drinks order and ran through the food menu with us. The food was delicious (particularly the Risotto), hot and well presented. A great evening. Thank you.

Popped in for a drink after a walk. Welcomed at the garden entrance due to Covid restrictions, lovely friendly service. The pub has also had a substantial garden makeover and looks very smart indeed. A great addition.

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch, served quickly and the beef was absolutely amazing. We will definitely return.

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast (beef and vegetarian), plus a burger and children’s fish and chips. The food was of v good quality, served hot and within a reasonable wait. The staff were excellent, the pub was made COVID safe and was working well (despite a busy car park, it didn’t feel over busy). It was our first visit, but would go again. Although we didn’t use the garden due to the weather, they looked to have a great set up.

This review covers a lockdown delivery of 2 delicious burgers. Hot, very well cooked and very yummy. Highly recommended delivery to your home if inside 5 miles and free if you spend £20mor over. Well done WH team.

Stopped in here for a spot of lunch after walking around Cowdray Polo fields. One of the main reasons for popping in here was that they are dog friendly, very dog friendly. We settled for a sandwich each, one beef and one chicken both of which came with fries and slaw. If the quality of the sandwiches are anything to go by then we will be returning for a main meal soon.

Stopped here after a walk around Cowdray Park with the dog.So glad we stopped here after many dog walks. Pub is a traditional pub, hard to find these days and with a warm welcome. Only had sandwich for lunch, but wow! Best sandwich we’ve eaten in a pub! The beef and chicken were both perfect!Very dog friendly pub, which is great!Can’t wait to come back and try something else on the menu, fish and chips also looked delicious and looking forward to the summer for a drink in the garden too.

Had a great quality pub dinner here with friends; well presented meal and good portions. Well stoked bar and enjoyable relaxed atmosphere in the pub. Would definitely visit again if in the area!

The meal was great, the freshest fish and chips i have had in years and years!The atmosphere was jolly, it was the night G.B. left the E.U. and there was a party atmosphere in the air!The service was not bad at all, so there were no complaints from any of us!

Came in this evening optimistic about the Burns night Menu. For starters the Flaked Salmon poached in whiskey on a bed of salad. It was absolutely lovely and so refreshing. Then the big reveal of the main course; Venison, haggis croquettes, cauliflower purée and a whiskey side. Also comes with a side of neeps, tatties, slow roasted leek and courgette in butter. It was in fact the best meal I’ve had and all guests agree. The most delicious flavours, caring presentation and wonderful sauces. You could not improve that dish in any way. All guests were taken back at how marvellous our lovely meal was. Everyone agreed that this wasn’t just the best meal we have had here in this pub, but the best meal we have ever had in all our time venturing out. It was outstanding, I must thank all kitchen staff of whom who made our meal out of this world. All front of house staff on top service and topping the drinks up! Great evening. Thank you.

I've visited this pub four times over four years and I have now seen the standards slip away. Management clearly don't care, the bar staff are for the locals first and foremost. Expect to be ignored or have locals served before you even though you're at the bar before the swearing, smirking and scruffy man who is cracking jokes with the girl who is serving. It's a bickering and backstabbing place where you can overhear them all talking about each other including the "spoilt" owner. Not a nice place anymore or environment that now looks like a working man's pub.

I had several meals at The White Horse whilst staying locally and as always it’s a winner as far as atmosphere is concerned delivered at the hands of a wonderful team. The White Horse very much feels like the heart of the community. Welcoming and nicely turned out. A great place to meet with friends for a drink. Its mission is clearly to be a good pub with consistent food. Not a gastro pub, but having said that I really like how they have themed food nights and always changing specials. It most certainly isn’t a stagnant menu. The soup and steaks are particularly scrummy. It’s a bonus that food is served at almost all sittings.It’s cosy in winter (with a log fire) and conversely has a fantastic seating area outside for long summer nights. An excellent option if you’re passing through on the A272 or for a Sunday Roast.

We are lucky enough to have this lovely local pub on our doorstep. The welcome is always warm and the food and ambience great. This is a perfect venue at all times of the year - but especially on a cold day by the log fire! We had a wonderful lunch. Delicious starters of a mini baked Camembert and Bourbon glazed pork belly, followed by roast beef and roast lamb - all perfectly cooked and served. The wine list offers lots of good choices too. A great atmosphere and a friendly mixture of locals and visitors. Dogs are always welcome too! Thank you to Dean and his lovely team!

Stopped at The White Horse for one nights Brit Stop in our Motorhome. Lovely pub, gorgeous food and friendly staff. Real locals pub and very welcoming. Will definitely return.

We popped into The White Horse on our way home for a bite to eat and a pint at lunchtime. The pub looks lovely from the outside with lots of character. Inside we were greeted in the most friendliest and warm way we’ve ever experienced (and we’ve been to a lot of pubs!) The guy behind the bar was fun, helpful and seemed to genuinely enjoy his work which made a real refreshing change. We ordered a pint each and went to a table to look at the menus we were given. We both decided on a sandwich and when they arrived they were absolutely divine with the best chips and homemade coleslaw. The other customers were chatty and friendly and we instantly felt at home here. We will definitely return.

Lovely staff, but the landlord was very rude, made us feel uncomfortable. From what a local said itsl was because we are foreigners. Whatever the reason, we definitely won't be back and won't recommend the place.

Shocking behaviour by staff, turned up at 10:40 with myself and 3 friends only to be greeted in the car park by a waitress in the car park saying saying we’re are shut and we responded saying we only wanted a quick drink for her to respond “I couldn’t care less”. Very rude customer service and would not recommend to anyone. Showed up late but still before closing hours, disgusting behaviour.

Hold your breath as you go towards the door as all the smokers sit as close the door as they can, ignoring the “smokers corner” further up the garden. The garden has apparently had an overhaul with a special evening in the spring to “open” the garden. Well the surprise was that the garden was a mess, long grass, rubbish and glasses having been abandoned on tables for more than one evening. The only decent area is the paved part in front of the door with so many tables squeezed there that I had to keep getting up to let others past to get to the bar door.

Owing to a bad weather forecast, this week we decided to revisit one of our favourite pubs. So after taking a leisurely stroll around Midhurst in windy conditions with I hasten to add a light drizzle, we ventured onto the White Horse at Easeborne.

After their recent refurb and change of staff, this little gem has become the best pub in town. Great beer, amazing food by the wonderful Gary and a lovely team of girls behind the bar. Midhurst’s new centre of pub culture. Be sure to visit if not for food, then for a drink in their fantastic beer garden.

We live locally and regularly visit for drinks and/or food. Have always loved the pub and the atmosphere but the food has been hit or miss in the past but we have persevered as it’s a lovely pub and local. However, I don’t know what has happened recently but the food has been absolutely fantastic the last couple of times we’ve been in! Can’t wait to go for another meal!

Starters all ok, however two couples in our party had ordered the sharing platter which on the menu included lamb kebabs, charcuterie meats, arancini balls, olives, soda bread and chilli jam. When they arrived the lamb kebab consisted of one small meatball on a stick, bearing in mind this is a sharing platter and no arancini balls. It was only when we pointed out the obvious missing food we were told that they had run out of both the kebabs and arancini, it would have been far more professional to admit there was not enough food and ask one of the couples to choice another meal, not try and split the amount left between two. So if we hadn’t made the waitress aware we would have been charged the full amount, she did return from the kitchen and said how about a portion of ribs each instead, would have appreciated this offer before the meals got to the table. Plates cleared, no offer to see desert menu or coffees etc. Will not be going back.

Since first coming to Midhurst in my Pony Club days the White Horse had a bit of a stigma and even in recent years it struggled to find its feet but ladies and gents that coat has been shed and the phoenix has risen. The White horse is now fab and delivers on many levels, go and give it another chance.

Great meal, in relaxed setting. Dog and family friendly. Well priced, home cooked food. Good service. Friendly locals!

Don’t know what’s happened but lunchtime today was the best. Roast Lamb Sunday lunch has to be one of my top Roasts. Bar staff very helpful and accommodating. Excellent job by everyone, 5 stars well earned!

I had booked for a 40th birthday lunch with the family. There were 5 adults and three children. When we arrived, the table inside was ready, but the weather was warm and sunny, unexpectedly, so we asked if we could sit at a suitable table on the terrace under an umbrella instead, The staff were very welcoming and said if we decided to go inside they would keep the table for us.

We stopped here for a drink as a family after visiting Cowdray. Asked for a pint of IPA (3 pumps). No there is no IPA. OK, I would like a glass of Chardonnay. Sorry no Chardonnay either! Ok, what Rose do you have - only Pinot Blush. We decided to all have this only for it to be warm. Packet of crisps £1.50. What a joke! Suffice to say we won’t be back.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at The White Horse during the week. We sat outside, as the courtyard and garden are real sun traps. The whole of the White Horse has been refurbished - both inside and out. It really is a success. The inside very light and bright and fresh and the outside has been newly paved with a new smoking area/tables/planters and Woody's Bar. This is a converted horse box and used when the pub has live music events. We had a great lunch - there is a wide selection on the menu and specials board, catering for all tastes and appetites and making use of seasonal/local ingredients. The wine list is very good too. There is an excellent choice of wines by the glass and the price of bottles is very competitive.

Nice pub with good atmosphere and nice food. We went for Sunday lunch. The menu is small but attarctive with several different roast available. We order one roast and a vege disk. Both were first class, nice cut and nice veg. Bar also had a good selection of beers; staff were friendly. I would not hestitate in going again or recommending.

My husband and I visited last Sunday for two roast dinners. The new refurbishment looks amazing - the whole outside area has been transformed and it is much brighter and better decorated than I remembered from previous visits. Our roast last week was delicious - up there with one of the best I’ve had! The beef was beautifully rare and plenty of it. creamy rich cauliflower cheese, crispy spuds, fluffy Yorkies, colourful veg drizzled with delicious rich gravy. Perfect. We decided to visit again today and bring along our friends, having been so impressed the previous week. Unfortunately the roast we were served today was completely different - the meat was like a dried up bit of leather, a strange almost orange sauce dribbled over some hard cauliflower. The Yorkshire puddings tasted stale and the gravy was bland. We left rather confused and can only conclude the contrast being down to a different chef. That being said, the service was friendly and efficient, but it is such a shame that inconsistency is letting this pub down as it could be a gold mine

Despite having booked a table 'on line' they did not have my reservation but managed to fit us in. My wife and I ordered the broccoli soup with stilton glaze and insisted it was 'piping' hot which it was not! The stilton was a congealed lump at the bottom of the bowl. The rib eye steak, I am told, was excellent but the salad lacked content. Unfortunately I ordered the French burger - the only thing 'french' about it was the two strip of Brie that had been placed on the meat. There was no garnishing and the 'slaw' was a mass of something. The enormous plate of chips were nicely cooked but far to many. The menu choices were not as we had previously experienced at this 'pub; and the reason we went!

Stopped here on our way home from Bristol. We were looking forward to a pub lunch but we're disappointed with the choices on the menu. Nothing vegan and only one vegetarian dish which was ok. My husband had fish and chips which he found poor, the chips are those awful reconstituted potatoe chips that always taste dry. Fish was ok apparently but the batter was poor. Sorry white horse we'll probably not call again

On a weekend break staying in Midhurst, we booked The White Horse for an evening meal. It was well worth the 15 min walk. Full of locals, with very friendly welcoming staff and excellent food. The green lipped mussels in particular were amazing.

Went for Sunday lunch with 3 others. I had not been here for a few years and was pleasantly surprised at the changes.The decor is much improved,so much lighter and the menu offers a great range of choices. I went for the bucket of fried chicken with bbq sauce, home made slaw & fries. Absolutely delicious ! Even came with a little water bowl to clean your sticky fingers! Portion size was perfect too . My companions all had the roast,which looked amazing. Dessert was a scoop of hazelnut ice cream, so rich & creamy. The staff are lovely and friendly too . Very reasonably priced and excellent value for money. Cant wait for my next meal there and I won't leave it long. This place is a gem

I have to pass this pub everytime I go home it has never had the best reputation, dark dinghy, miserable management on the occasions in years gone I had been in there it wasnt the best experience.

The food for last night and tonight was exceptional, tonight’s Steak goes into my top 5 Steaks of all time. Cooked to perfection, tender and a taste beyond belief! Amazing job by the Chefs.

Not the friendliest pub I’ve visited. Went with 2 children on Friday night visiting for Easter weekend. You will wait a long time if you think there is table service - ok fine, can get over that. But ordering food and drinks at the bar, young rude immature bar girl serving has an attitude and would benefit from learning manners. Charging £10 for 2 kids orange and lemonades (had initially asked for 2 kids fantas) was a little too pricey to swallow and when asked to explain why, the attitude was that of a stroppy, entitled, argumentative teenager.

Called in here for a light lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. Lovely welcome from young lady behind bar, we sat in the apparently newly refurbished patio outside, all very comfortable. Food excellent and plentiful at a very reasonable price. What a find! Will definitely be back when in the area.

Went for a drink and a bite to eat. Pub was pumping. Great atmosphere and staff very friendly. Great mix of people there and all enjoying themselves. We had a big group and all had something to eat. Food was good. Only issue was we were charged a large group surcharge which we were not told about beforehand. Other than that would recommend this as a great place for a drink or a meal

Really lovely food and a friendly atmosphere. Couldn't fault the monkfish scampi, fantastic chips, piping hot and just the right amount. Great service too and nice to see some recent refurbishment plus it looks like lots going on to improve the outside space. Can't wait to return.

If the traffic hadn't been so bad queueing into Midhurst, we wouldn't have found this charming pub at Easebourne where we popped in for lunch.

Found this gem by chance while travelling from southampton to London. Got in just as food was about to be stopped, and we enjoyed some of the best scampi ever. Good pint to round off. Very helpful to lost travellers. Thank you.

Hats off to the chefs yesterday, there was a big party in for their christmas dinner and then 11 of us came in for steak night. 11 ribeye steaks cooked to absolute perfection. Big thank you to the chefs. The pub has a warm friendly atmosphere and wonderful staff.

Warm, cosy, used by locals which is a good indicator. Both cooked food and sandwiches on offer at lunchtime. I've got into the habit of looking for the cleanliness rating sticker by the front door of places where we eat and couldn't find one on show here which I find worrying. The food to ages to come but we were chatting so it didn't matter, I wouldn't come here though if I time was limited.

The pub is a very friendly place. Made very welcome, we were a group who had just been on a walk around the countryside. We had a very good lunch, the meal all freshly prepared good value. Would definitely go there again.

My family recently moved to Easebourne and we went to this cosy pub for an early evening meal. A real pub experience with lovely atmosphere. Some other people only had drinks and a couple were playing dominoes, whilst we enjoyed our supper.

Hearty Cooked food and sandwich selection, good beer and wine. Friendly and helpful service. Always busy when we went. would recommend as a countryside pub experience. Reasonably priced.

The White Horse is a lovely family owned pub in Easebourne. The staff are very friendly and efficient and you can be assured of a warm welcome. There are some great wines and a good menu, which changes on a regular basis and includes a Specials Board. Worth visiting.

My family and I planned to go for Sunday lunch and then head home but we ended up staying all afternoon!

Lovely building and location. We booked a table, the menu seemed unclear of vegetarian options and not a huge choice. Weren’t sure if it was table service or you had go up and order, would be good if there was a sign to tell you. I had a really expensive salad, nothing special. However the meat dishes my friends had looked better value for money. We had deserts and they were great!

We had the Sunday roast lunch which was plentiful, tasty and had a good helping of vegetables too. I had the pork roast and the crackling was well done. I would definitely come back for another serving next time I am in West Sussex.

We met friends here for a rainy Sunday lunch, having prebooked a table. The food and atmosphere are amazing, and the kids were well catered for as well. The roasts were delicious, we’d definitely recommend The White Horse.

We chose the Sunday lunch pork roast with all the trimmings. There were ample tasty vegetables to accompany the roast meat. The portions were generous. The service was friendly and the overall ambience was very pleasant.

Nice pub a short walk from Midhurst. Sat outside and had a good roast beef. The ham egg and chips was also excellent. Dog friendly inside and out with a resident golden retriever although it didn't appear to like cysclists!

Just had lunch in The White Horse and enjoyed a taste of Spain with the glorious sunshine and the most delicious Paella to be found in England ! A great little pub with a young and friendly staff . Certainly worth a visit .

We visited this restaurant for lunch some time ago and as we were in the area we decided to have dinner. Lovely atmosphere. loads of people eating drinking and being just happy - maybe iy was just because it was a Friday night. The staff were good - pretty, young and efficient. We found the 'starters' to be very good but were a little disappointed in the 'specials' for the main courses. As always loads of chips but a food salad. My wife found the burger a little lacking in taste despite the garnishing and I found the chicken chunks not really to my liking but all was well cooked and nicely presented. The lovely fog and other diners made it an overall happy evening.

I rang up to only to find out dinner service soon closing so they suggested I make my food order over the phone. We finally arrived and our table and dinner was ready and hot. A lovely warm welcome.

We loved the outside area, with woodburner and good company. Menu and food great. ( the portions are BIG). Friendly landlord and staff. Dogs welcome. HIGHLY RECOMMEND - an honest pub -,LOVE IT Great for everyone

My husband and I had completed an 13 mike hike surrounding Midhurst, it was about 5.30pm and very little was open, we found this pub on Trip Advisor. Although they didn’t start serving till 6pm, the bar manager, told us the chef was in the kitchen preparing and could accommodate us now, as we were very hungry! Fantastic food, I had a delicious large serving of risotto, my husband had a pie and was equally satisfied, good portions lovely service by the bar manager and atmospheric log fire, have booked again for this week-end even though it is an hour away from where we live!

Visited as a group of 4 on a Saturday lunchtime. We were glad that we had booked in advance as it was very busy. Despite that service was good and very friendly.

We had a really tasty lunch here sat out in the sun. I had a beef and mustard sandwich with skinny fries while the others had chicken chunks with sweet chilli sauce and fries. I washed mine down with a couple of pints of Timotthy Taylors .

WE were going to Cowdray House for an Antique Fair and decided to take lunch before our visit. I have passed by on the A272 many times but never thought of checking this place out. What a find.

Just experienced lunch with 2 friends from Rustington and was totally satisfied with the excellent home made Steak and Ale pie with mash and peas. My wife and one of the friends had the Mushroom and Pea risotto and were over the moon and the other lady had Salmon with teriyaki noodles and said it was superb.

Lo que un pub encantador y amable! Tenía un fantástico almuerzo aquí con magnífica comida y únicamente un servicio excelente. Tenía la sopa de guisantes de la ofertas especiales junto con los calamares. Ambos eran impresionantes. Todos tuvimos diferentes platos y todos eran tan sabroso y con una gran relación calidad-precio. Lo recomendaría!
