No volverá pronto

I visited with my friend who was staying with me. We were on the whole highly impressed with our visit. The waiting staff were friendly and helpful even though they were rushed off their feet, my beetroot and rhubarb tartare was delicious together with a mixed salad. The two downsides were the wait for our starter, a Fritto Misto to share and that when it did arrive the batter on this was way too heavy - it should be both light in colour and density but ……on the plus side .the whole sardines were extremely flavoursome. I opted for a scoop of mango sorbet to finish which I could see sitting on the shelf by the kitchen for some while, I eventually asked for it and to be expected it was fairly melted when I finally got it. These issues did not detract from our visit, we would visit again.

Views and aesthetic are covered elsewhere. As for the food: the battered fish (gf) was far below my top ten pub fish. The amount of actual fish was relatively small, the batter over cooked and too crisp and the batter recipe poor. Ive had far better. Also too many dogs indoors.

I booked The Crown & Anchor for my husbands Birthday. 12 of us had lunch in the private area over looking the Quay. We had the best time. Location was amazing. View from our table of the Quay was lovely. We went outside after lunch and spent a glorious afternoon and into the early evening watching the tide and the sun go down. Lots of friendly people all enjoying the sunshine and gorgeous location. The staff were attentive and very relaxed. The orders and food were all done with ease and a smile. It was just an amazing place to celebrate. We were there for more than 8 hours and even then didn't want to leave ! Thank you so much to the whole team there. We will be back Heidi & Garry

Very very disappointing experience. Sea food platter tastes like it just came out of the fridge - too cold and flavourless!! Probably the other dishes are great - however this is super pricy for what it is… Flavourless seafood to say the least! I can easily get better seafood from the Fishmongers for half of the price. Pretty sad that they have an opportunity to serve good seafood ( pub by the sea with great atmosphere) but decide not to do so.

We came to The Crown and Anchor to trial following its reopening. It was very disappointing although our waitress Izzy tried to be as accommodating as she could. We had a table at 7:45pm and didn’t get the first attempt at our mains until 9:45 which had to be sent back. There were antisocially long delays for everything although strangely they were quick to offer more wines and drinks (££). When the mains finally arrived the sides were undercooked and the Flounder was absolutely tiny with no meat. We were surprised they could include it on a menu that small as it wouldn’t be enough to feed an infant. We sent this back and asked for a different fish which took a further 20mins therefore the 3 other mains were eaten before which made for quite a disjointed and unenjoyable experience for all. For a restaurant specialising is fish and charging the prices it is we expected much better.

Throughly enjoyed my steak and the onion bhaji was inspired. Felt dish prices a bit steep with a lack of choice for non fish eaters. Interesting variety of sides, not sure if some could be had as small plates. Our friends also enjoyed their meals. Portion sizes good. It was an extremely busy night, leaving long gaps before courses arrived. Kara our server did an admirable job to keep us smiling. A different seating place next time, continual stream of people back & forth to access loos. Normally steer away from Fridays due to busyness however this did seem more so than usual. Overall an enjoyable evening with tasty meals.

It’s a shame to be writing this as I’ve heard so many good things about this place. I was watching all the burgers go by which looked amazing, so I opted for a fish burger. £18, it wasn’t too bad but the ratio of batter and fish was a little disappointing. The fish should shine through with glorious batter but unfortunately the fish was lost. Tasted ok but could do with being more fish for sure. Beef burger was said to be nice from my friends opinion. Looked great. Lute warm chips but it was busy so it’s understandable. The main issue for me was what was said to be a salad with smoked mackerel. Also said to be a main but my honest opinion is it’s more of a small plate opposed to a main. The size of it was actually ridiculous! There was a piece of smoked mackerel laid upon 3 pieces of tomato which didn’t equate to a whole tomato and 6 cut new potatoes which equated to only 3 whole new potatoes with the fish sat on top. Now I know costs are going up and possibly portion sizes slightly smaller, to deal with the general cost of things going up, but jeeeez guys!! That dish really shouldn’t be on the menu as a main. Honest opinion again, more veg please. I shared the salad with my partner alongside sharing the fish burger and after sharing the salad into half it looked like nothing on the plate. Do hope this helps you guys to adjust the amount of salad considered on the plate so others don’t make the mistake of buying it and being disappointed like me. Would’ve had a photo taken but I tend to only take photos of food that deserves it.

Noisy as very busy, which is nice to see but couldn't chat to each other as so loud couldn't hear each other. Sadly the batter on the fish was very greasy and slightly over done. Scampi was nice insides, but over done too. Ended up we ate and left ASAP as it was uncomfortable being so hot, we all felt sick. Shame but that's how it was.

I've visited this pub on and off for the last 45 years and I have seen a lot of changes...... most generally for the better. It's in a beautiful setting and so like many such places can become a victim of its own success. At peak times It's crowded, wait times are longer and the food can vary in quality. However, having visited 4 or 5 times in the past month I'm completely in love with the place once again. Any niggles are soothed away by the lovely staff, the rustic charm and the wonderful outlook. My advice..... go off peak and enjoy.

A couple had turned up after we did and they managed to get their starters and main before we got our main. The table adjacent to us had complained that their food had turned up cold and the stake was rubbery, which was taken away. The lighting was poor, could hardly see the menu. I left with a headache due to having to strain to see. We where sat next to a window and my partner was cold throughout our visit. We had a lovely meal with great service in a warm and cosy atmosphere. Couldn't fault it.

My husband and I visited hoping for a more homely atmosphere from Worthing but this we did not meet. The very kind waitress managed to get us a quick table for 2 which we were very grateful for but the food was not great and made us both quite poorly.

I hadn't been to the C&A for many years so was looking forward to going back. My plant based burger was fine although a bit messy/slippery but it tasted ok. My Mum's fritters were fine too but my Dad's pork belly was not great. We also waited far too long for our food (around 1 hour), due to the fact that they were busy I think, but it was a shame.

Myself and a couple of friends booked in for the January set menu on the 30/01 and it was absolutely brilliant. I have been for the occasional bite to eat here, however to have a three course meal was brilliant. All three courses were superb, especially the braised beef. The quaility was very good and for this food to be on a set menu for the price we paid, I can only say good things. The food was complimented by the brilliant service from the waitress staff. Will be back this month for the same as have not stopped thinking about that beef! Thank you

Such amazing food, the service was great and the views were 10/10. The scallops especially were unreal! Had a lovely blonde waitress on Sunday, didn’t get her name but she was brilliant! X

Very hard to fault. Great location looking over Chichester Harbour. Great service from friendly, efficient team. Great food. Vegetarian option of Spinach and sage "patty" and mushrooms was particularly good. The pub was packed and I suggest if you go at the weekend you book well in advance. We only had one round of drinks and mains and puddings so our bill was not by any means large. Prices are what I would classify on the medium to high side. But you do get a quality meal to go with it! Definitely recommend.

We love it here. It's a weekly hotspot! Staff are friendly and helpful . A relaxed environment. Food is valued for money and tasty too. This time we visited, it was louder than usual. That's because it was so busy ! Didn't wait long for food though.

Absolutely awful atmosphere, staff were extremely unpleasant, food was cold and had no flavour, wine was like water, will not be going back and we are locals, such a shame as such a lovely old pub.
