Crown and Anchor in Chichester

We fancied a light celebration lunch. We turned up on spec and were seated next to 4 very loud ladies, they were obviously having fun but boy they were loud. We were moved to a quiet window table. We ordered fish snd chips and a pork belly. Both were good but the fish was without doubt the best i have ever had! Delicious crisp batter and tender fish. And I struggled to finish the generous portion!

Delicious fresh fish dishes with traditional options such as fish and chips but also more unusual dishes on the specials board. From our window table we enjoyed the stunning views. The service was friendly, courteous and super efficient. Thanks for a fabulous lunch.

Lovely country pub, really nicely decorated inside, great food, decent veggie options. Only criticism came when a shot of Moretaine was spilled on me by the waitress, but never mind. Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely food, great location, superb for fish

Second time we have been here, love the haunch of venison, atmosphere and staff are very attentive. Great for dogs too.

Wonderful lunch and they coped very well with 13 of us and a dog (including some feisty 5yr olds).

Delicious! Had the octopus, scallops and haddock and chips. Chips were the best I’ve ever had Icecream underwhelming. Service (amie) impeccable!

We’ve been to this lovely spot many times, and even had lunch here with our family after our wedding ceremony! Always a lovely atmosphere, whether it’s a lovely day to look out over the harbour, or a chilly winter evening to snuggle inside in the warm. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and knowledgable about the food on offer. Food is always great, and the seafood is especially well done - as are the desserts!

Really helpful with my food allergy, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended!

We love the pub, best scenery and setting in the area and generally good service. Unfortunately, on our last two visits the food has been below par. At the weekend I ordered steak (£28) and found it to be tough, perhaps not a great cut of meat as it appeared to be cooked well. The chips were also dry and felt like they had been sat waiting for a while before serving. My wife ordered scallops which were OK, but underwhelming taste and presentation. For the price you would expect better quality, and given the setting it is a shame the food seems to have done downhill. We will visit again, but only for a drink....

This is a fantastic venue with great food and service!! Loved everything about it. Reminded of some great gastronomic pubs in the West Country in the past that are rarely replicated today.

A really lovely evening to celebrate a birthday. Exceptional staff and service. Delicious food, well cooked and very tasty. The pub is very cosy with real fires and pretty lights inside and outside. We aim to come back regularly. Nice to see it so busy on a Wednesday night - testament to its quality. Good prices too.

Brilliant as always. When we have guests, going to the Crown and Anchor to watch sunset is a must.

We did not book and took a chance that there would be a table available. After being seated straight away, we went to the serving counter to a choice of 4 delicious roast meats. Everything was hot, the dishes containing the veg were full to the top. The veg was cooked perfectly. Excellent meal, and very attentive staff. An excellent choice.

Lovely restaurant - gorgeous location by the water. Really lovely interior and staff really friendly. I’ve just given food 3 star as not that special and the cheese board was so terrible. Just a few chunks of cheddar and a tiny slice of Brie, some shrivelled stalks of celery and then about 10 loose grapes to fill the plate - not good at all. Really let the meal down

Came for a 19th birthday meal. Positives - some lovely dishes inc shellfish stew, Sussex smokie, and prawns starter were all amazing. However a real shame to have one of the party (who is 18) asked for ID (which they didn’t have on them) when trying to order a beer to go with their meal. Perhaps the rules are open to interpretation but it felt unnecessary at a family meal. Service was slow, considering it wasn’t very busy on a Tuesday night. And service charge automatically added to bill. Yes we could dispute it but it adds an awkward moment at the end of what’s supposed to be a celebratory evening. Felt a bit ripped off.

It is a very nice place if you love seafood, otherwise there are not many alternatives. A little overpriced for the catch of the day, but the friendliness of the staff definitely makes this little hiccup.

Best pub in the area for sunsets and beers. Inside this place is lovely and cosy. Outside it overlooks the harbour and has the best sunsets. Order at the table via the QR code and snag an outside seat with some fish and chips! Cracking

This wonderful pub is constantly improving. The new menu with its fish focus is excellent unbeatable position and really great staff.

Nearly didn’t go when we saw it was a Youngs pub. Glad we did though - food was good, staff were nice, location (and view) is fantastic.

Genuinely enjoyed it all!! Just back from Normandy with lots of seafood eaten, the Crown and Anchor was every bit as good and better value! The service was excellent, credit to Youngs for running a great pub!!

Well we were very much looking forward to eating here. Arrived just about found a table on this nice sunny day. Bought some drinks and then told by waitress they're no longer serving food because they can't cope!! Laughable! Go there on a sunny day and the chances are they can't "manage" the demand.

Lovely pub in a stunning setting with good food and service. We had a long wait between starters and main but once we mentioned it, it was quickly resolved and an offer to amend the bill immediately made.

We had a very pleasant experience at this waterside pub, good beer, good food and great service, just a pity that the parking can be difficult but that's because it's so popular.

Beautiful pub, especially on a sunny evening. Wonderful outside area with outdoor bar and views over the water. Inside is cosy and the food is excellent. Dog friendly in the garden and lots of seating available. Parking limited but can park on the road too.

This venue is set in beautiful surroundings with stunning views. The service was excellent with well trained, friendly and attentive staff. The food was delicious and there was a very interesting drinks and wine menu. A bit on the pricey side but worth it due to the location, quality of food and service.

A lovely location by the quay. The food was good, our fish tasted fresh. Service was very swift- our starters were swept away at speed and we were in and out within an hour but we had coffee on the front patio afterwards to extend our stay. When booking online it would be good to receive a confirmation email. Otherwise a pleasant Sunday lunch, to be recommended.

This is our go to place on our way back from wittering to London . Even better in the summer when you can look out over the harbour.

Fabulous fish, great wine menu and lovely setting.

We have been coming to this pub for years and the standards have slipped big time. Arrived Saturday afternoon, it wasn’t even that busy like it normally can be. It’s not exactly reasonably priced but usually you wouldn’t mind paying that for good food and service but today we did not get that at all. The waitress was so miserable and rude, she plonked some overcooked chips in front of us and went to walk off. I mentioned that the chips are normally thin with Parmesan cheese and truffle oil not thick. She then replied that’s indoors and walked away. There was no offer of condiments or cutlery at all so I approached her at the food hatch where they seem to be cooking this food. To find her moaning about me to the girl behind the counter. I ask for condiments and she replies “they are over there on a stand, but most of them are on tables you can find them” There were no sauce bottles on any station which I had to search for and all the sauce bottles that were on peoples tables were also empty. Chips overcooked and very small portion for your monies worth. I then watched her treat all the other customers the same way. She took a plate of a pile of overcooked fried food to a lady plonked it on the table and walked away and then we witnessed the lady she served having to ask for cutlery and condiments to another waitress. It was clear to us all that this waitress does not enjoy her job or cares about her customers and the girl whom I’m not sure is a chef cooking in the hatch needs to learn how to cook chips.

This pub is a MUST visit when in the area of Chichester. The waiting and bar staff were just so friendly and so professional. The food was just tip top, lemon sole was the best I have ever tasted. Fabulous waterside location and great ambience with attentive staff. The food was good and well presented but it lacked the wow factor.

Excellent dinner for four ! Offered the bay window so we enjoyed an amazing view of the sunset. Plaice and Lemon Dover Sole excellent ! Samphire and cauliflower cheese very nice extra , great service

We have been to the Crown and Anchor lots of times but this one was not good table was far to small and cramped for five people and we all thought that the food was not so good as normal and slow service.

We had a fabulous meal at The Crown & Anchor. With a perfect view we enjoyed a platter of exquisite seafood along with a fabulous bottle of wine. The service was amazing. We would highly recommend this pub/ restaurant

Absolutely beautiful location and, the staff were lovely, friendly and, extremely attentive. It would have been perfect if there had been more of a vegan/vegetarian selection. And disappointed that there was so very little selection other than seafood. Would have been nice to have seen a chicken dish or, a lasagne for example. I know it was by the sea but, a lot of people do not like seafood. The pub/restaurant was very busy but, this did not hinder any service.

Delicious food with a wonderful view, and incredible gluten free batter! Portion sizes are deceptive, they were very filling! There was a mistake in the menu pricing which has hopefully been fixed by now, and it was a little frustrating as the app didn’t work. Not fully wheelchair accessible but otherwise a very lovely atmosphere.

Rare gem of a classy pub based restaurant specialising in a sea food based menu.

Not a bad place to go; the food is very good and cost effective, but the drinks are not, which led to quite a high bill. Just be wary of how much you drink here and you should be alright.

No food just beer this time, place is always rammed especially when the holidays are on.

It was a busy night and staff were under pressure but food was a very long time coming (delicious when it came).

So very enjoyable. The wait people were perfection and the whole feeling was they really know what they are doing and know how to run a good, busy restaurant.

Lovely walk from Chichester marina to Dell Quay and finding this little pot of gold at the end. Perfect. If you haven't experienced the Crown And Anchor give it a go.

We had dinner on 28-August. The food was very fresh and everyone enjoyed their dishes. They sat us at a table so we could look not the pier and water. I highly recommend going to Crown & Anchor if you are in The Witterings.

We have been here many times and the food has been excellent. However, on this occasion, generally the meal was good but, my special, which was a Skate wing, gave me a sensation like the smell of ammonia. Hopefully, there will be no after effects.

Excellent evening and as ever the staff were excellent. Food perhaps suffering from post bank holiday blues! But still jolly good.

Beautiful location with delicious seafood

I was kind of confused because the food was expensive but the portion was small and almost cold. Fish tasted good but the rest of the dish had no seasoning at all. The service was good and the outside area had a nice view.

Amazing spot next to the harbour, and you can park along the road. It was very crowded but we got a table super quickly as most people go for drinks. Very windy! Only thing is there are no vegan options

Booked online but they didn’t have reservation. Told by austere hostess we could have table for 90 minutes only and then table was filthy and sticky and everything was tatty. Didn’t get chance to try food as left. Pub was highly recommended but clearly so popular not interested in customer service.

By golly this place is busy, and rightly so. An eclectic interesting menu served well, in a buzzing restaurant in a beautiful location. Book a table you will not be disappointed.

What a hidden gem. We had a recommendation to go here and we weren’t disappointed. We had Fabulously fresh day boat fish n chips from the salt shack on the outside terrace soaking up the wonderful sunset. As it was the evening it was time for a couple of sundowners, so we decided on a glass of beaver town neck oil or two.

Beautiful and lovely water side pub with great view. It’s a great place to enjoy time with family. Outside area have separate bar and it’s nice in sunny days. We ordered fish and chips, Fish was fresh and delicious but the chips served cold. Car park was little bit challenging. Staff were welcoming and friendly.

The waitress was very good, friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu. The haddock and chips were 10 out of 10! Delicious! 6 out of the 7 of us dining had fish and chips.

The Pub is right on the waterside. Lovely friendly atmosphere and the service is excellent. Parking is not very easy but well worth the visit for absolutely superb fresh fish, cooked with care and innovation.

Great little Pub on Dell Quay, parking is a challenge, be prepared to park on the road and have a walk to the pub, the food is good if expensive, for what you got and it is a pub! Why can't eating at a pub be affordable? The atmosphere was great and it is in a lovely location, I think it would be great on a winters evening when only half the world is there.

Really delicious food and very friendly and helpful staff. I always feel very conscious and anxious when we travel as we have a young child and a slightly anxious dog so feels a bit like a travelling circus at time. The staff here made us feel extremely welcome, moved us to a bigger table when it became available and were all round super helpful and kind. Food was also delicious. Stunning location and we made friends with the other very friendly patrons.

Quality of the meals didn't quite live up to the price. On the other hand this is a delightful pub in a unique and spectacular location and is extremely busy as a result.

Used to love this place when it was a pub... now an expensive restaurant. Pint of peroni was £7 and wasn't chilled correctly...Informed member of staff and his reply was "well it is hot today." Totally unacceptable answer.... GET A NEW CHILLER...
