Lovely spot overlooking estuary. Busy service. No parking left so had to park up the road. Service was very slow between courses. Starters of mackerel and short rib delicious. Scans main was disappointing as tasteless. Thought it expensive lunch for what we had, paying for the location

Sadly on this occasion wasn't brilliant. Having booked online all confirmed and that was fine. Had a table for 4, stuck in a corner, scorching radiator right next to us and couldn't open a window. Noisy as very busy, which is nice to see but couldn't chat to each other as so loud couldn't hear each other. Sadly the batter on the fish was very greasy and slightly over done. Scampi was nice insides, but over done too. Ended up we ate and left ASAP as it was uncomfortable being so hot, we all felt sick. Shame but that's how it was.

We normally love this place but unfortunately last nights meal was below standard e.g. the lemon sole was half the size it would normally be (but not half the price) and the mackerel pate was poorly presented. On a positive note the service was excellent. I’m hoping the standard of the food will returns to normal!

This pub is a quintessential British pub. I was visiting the area from the America but am from the UK. This pub has a personality and super friendly staff and a great vibe. Great wine list and the beers are solid. The menus are engaging and seasonal. Went 3 times in 4 days. The views across the quay are priceless. Loved the fresh oysters, scallops and the crispy fish and chips were a 10.

Delicious meal early evening on Saturday. Family meal to celebrate 90th. Polite and efficient service from the whole team. Delicious food with, despite previous comments, quite generous portions. Had the Octopus salad starter and Short Rib main with Treacle Tart dessert. All washed down with Harvey’s Best (never been keen on Young’s…sorry). The setting of the pub is beyond perfect. It must be glorious outside in the summer…must return!

Crown and Anchor Dell Quay Food was great, but it took far too long to receive our food, just under 50 mins between starters and main. A couple had turned up after we did and they managed to get their starters and main before we got our main. The table adjacent to us had complained that their food had turned up cold and the stake was rubbery, which was taken away. The lighting was poor, could hardly see the menu. I left with a headache due to having to strain to see. We where sat next to a window and my partner was cold throughout our visit. I have visited here on numerous occasions and this has been my worst experience by far. What should have been a memorable valentines meal had turned out to be memorable for all the wrong reasons. Very disappointing

My wife and I were greeted with a warm smile and welcomed, shown to our table and Emma greeted us and introduced herself and took us through the menu and specials, whilst we were deciding Emma brought us some sparkling water and took our order. The starters arrived oysters chilled and rib hot. The place was very busy but we were not rushed or left waiting and we felt that Emma was in control and cleared our plates and brought out the main course crab and lobster linguine which was well presented and tasted excellent (good choice). Upon completion of dinner my wife had ice cream and a rendition of happy birthday from the staff as it was my wife’s birthday. It was a lovely experience with a good atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent food and worth every penny. We will definitely be back.

What a shame ! Visited at the weekend with my family as had previously had drinks at this venue so thought we would give the restaurant a go . The food was a disgrace not even the quality of a fast food restaurant, and portion size a joke ! clearly there’s no quality control or expectations with what comes out the kitchen . I will detail more in my email to management. As a chef myself I wouldn’t have served food visually in such a poor state ! We complained at the time but as to not ruin the evening didn’t bother returning food .

Very hard to fault. Great location looking over Chichester Harbour. Great service from friendly, efficient team. Great food. Vegetarian option of Spinach and sage "patty" and mushrooms was particularly good. The pub was packed and I suggest if you go at the weekend you book well in advance. We only had one round of drinks and mains and puddings so our bill was not by any means large. Prices are what I would classify on the medium to high side. But you do get a quality meal to go with it! Definitely recommend.

Love to google and find somewhere we haven't yet adventured to. What a beauty of a find!! How we haven't been here before I do not no. But after a cold, wet and windy walk around chichester Harbour with the dog we found the crown and anchor pub and it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in and was welcomed with a warm and friendly hello from who was going to be our server called Josh. Offered us a couple of seats and then asked if we would like a bit more space and sat us on a 4 seater table, which to me seemed to be the table of the house with an absolutely beautiful view of the quay and a view into the open kitchen which was a delight! The food did not disappoint either. The only little issue I could raise is the chickpea Caesar salad should have left off the yellow of the lettuce. I know it's all good to use but I'm a restaurant and sometimes it can have a slight bitter taste could have easily been avoided but using the green leaves and adding some more chickpeas wouldn't go a miss. But other than that the Caesar sauce was delicious and the scoth egg was lovely with an almost jewel of a yoke center in it. The braised Featherblade was delicious and melted in the mouth. I had the mussels and in a bacon and beer sauce which I have never had before, defiantly would recommend and definitely will be coming back in the summer. So to Josh, Sachi, and the chef and owners, Thanks for a lovely lunch and we will definitely be back again soon!! X

We ordered from the January special menu which was short but well chosen by them and at a cost of £18 for two courses, very reasonable. I had the smoked mackerel pate on sourdough to start and it was tasty but rather dry. For my main course I had the featherblade and mash - my goodness it was really great. A generous slab of beef with delicious mash and a rich slightly sweet sauce. Definately go there again.

We have been a few times now and liked it very much, however today the service was very slow. Two of us had the January special, but one person had to wait over an hour and a quarter for a main course which was frankly very disappointing. There seemed to be only 2 people on duty in the kitchen as well, with sporadic visits by other staff members. Aside from that it was so cold inside!! Your colleague said that radiators were on and the fire was on, so we moved to a table nearer the kitchen but it didn’t seem to make a lot of difference. When you’re waiting a long time for food as well it doesn’t help. Having said all that, when the food arrived, the feather blade beef was superb!! We’ll come back again I am sure and hopefully things will be back to normal again.

This restaurant (I won’t call it a pub) deserves every accolade it receives. Adventurous British cuisine, heavy on fresh fish and beef, is an absolute delight. Upon entry the lovely smell of wood fires fill your nose and, as it is winter, you just feel like, “this is the place”. And you’re not wrong. Whole sole was divine. Scotch egg, fish pate. The passion fruit martini. I could go on. Wonderful.

We arrived on a very wet and windy evening. Parking was difficult and after trying and failing to find a space in the pub car park we reversed out and left our car on the road - not clear if we were allowed to park there. Might have been easier in better weather conditions and without two grumpy kids in tow. The atmosphere inside was lovely. Warm, bustling, cosy, and lovely nautical artwork on the walls. We sat next to the kitchen which was strange at first, but interesting and a bit like a chef's table. Kids both had the burgers which seemed fine (though I wonder how many parents like us had to scrape off the green (avocado?) puree from inside the burger). Nice touch, but probably not too popular with the kind of kid who orders a pub burger. Husband had the scallops main which was nice enough. I ordered the cod cheek scampi. Unfortunately this was a bad choice. The coating was so thick, hard and dry, that I couldn't really taste anything inside. Can't imagine anyone would enjoy that dish. I saw other dishes going past that looked great, so I think I was just unlucky with that one. We shared a shortrib starter which was delicious. I'd recommend this place, but give yourself extra time for parking and don't order the cods cheek scampi!

Firstly what a lovely pub, been here many times over the years and always a favourite, Every other occasion we’ve have been it’s be fabulous! The food is one of the highlights. We came in for lunch, Friday afternoon and sadly left disappointed. We had a few appetisers, bread olives, anchovies, which were fine. For mains we had the smokie, a fish burger and a beef burger. All unfortunately very underwhelming, considering the prices, service was slow although pleasant. They did try and rectify with a free dessert, not really helpful at that point. Working in hospitality myself I understand the pressure of a busy service, and also the climate of the industry with rising prices, hard to get staff etc, sadly I feel all independent business that have character charm and passionate owners working within it will fade away, this is a bad review but will still give 5 stars as, business need support! Hoping to visit again soon.

We had a meal there today with a large table of 9 people. We were extremely impressed with the food, the service and the ambience. Ticked all of the boxes for us and can definitively recommend, thank you

Best food we four have had out for a long time. Three of us had the lamb with couscous and one of us had the salt beef broth. Pure and simple extremely well cooked and presented good. Great staff and good service from all Our bill was very reasonable and we are delighted to have such a super pub doing what a pub should do. I would give six stars if I could.

Absolutely awful atmosphere, staff were extremely unpleasant, food was cold and had no flavour, wine was like water, will not be going back and we are locals, such a shame as such a lovely old pub.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Attempted to visit this pub for food after seeing the menu online and a food hygiene review in the window. Greeted by a bunch of farmers inside asking what we want, we said we were just waiting to see if food was being served. He said ‘nah no food at all here’ and the bar maid said ‘nope just crisps and nuts’ with an attitude, the other customers laughed us out the door. Very unfriendly, unprofessional and quite frankly rude behaviour from both staff and customers. Do not recommend at all.
