Have dined at The White Hart several times and enjoyed the atmosphere of a real Pub Great above average food reasonably priced As I didn’t have time due to a delivery from John Lewis at home I had a quick pint and ordered a take away sandwich Wow what a feast. Served with real locally made bread to order a real feast I ordered at the bar but I understand you can order from the Village Store attached to the pub Never disappointed with food at the White Hart

Lunchtime meal at this rural pub / restaurant in Sherington. Been there several t8mes and on each occasion received a warm welcome and great service from the staff. Enjoyed a two course meal, which included Thai Red Curry / Sea Food and Mussel Linguine / Chicken Burger, with chocolate tourte & chocolate brownie for desert. Good food and good value.

Myself and my mum, dad and daughter came for a Sunday roast for Mother’s Day. Just delicious! The best roast dinner you will find. We had turkey, beef and the nut roast. Huge portions, lots of veg and everything cooked well. My only complaint is that I was too full to have a dessert! The others managed it and enjoyed those too. We even got a little bunch of daffs as a Mother’s Day gift when we left. Good value and friendly staff too. We will be back!

Wonderful pub, food and staff. When we arrived the pub was super busy which speaks volumes. The staff were lovely one of which was working her first shift (you wouldn’t have know) as nothing was to much trouble. The food was amazing as was the service. Will definitely be back. We took our pup as checked they allowed dogs when booking. I would recommend booking. The fire was roaring & the place was lovely and warm. Super well priced & great portion sizes

I am a 72 year old lady who met a friend for lunch and was asked to remove my car as it was blocking the managers driveway. I had to park out in the street as the restaurant car park was closed due to works. I explained to the waitress that I had left the house driveway clear but if it was a real problem I would move it. She said its okay for the now. Towards the end of the lunch this woman (who turned out to be the Manage'rs wife came over and very aggressively shouted and pointed her finger at me and said if I did not remove my car within 10 minutes she would not be responsible if it was hit by her Range Rover. I tried to explain that I had already spoke to the waitress and said that if it was a real problem I would move it. However I did not get finished my explanation as she stormed out through the back of the pub! I did then go and move my car but I was left very shaken and asked to speak to the Manager and was told that he was not available but I had seen him two minutes before dealing with a small tractor with a fork lift on front who was delivering turf and had managed to get into the driveway before I had a chance o move my car!! I thought it was terrible that the Manager would not come and speak to me and I will never be back there again and neither will my friends having, been a number of times in the past. I took a picture of the space I had left and there is plenty of room to get into the driveway!!

Really lovely pub. Nice menu good range. Big plate of food. Very tasty but unfortunately not very hot. Waitress was very attentive but didn't seem to happy to be in her job. There was a big table in so noise levels did get pretty loud at one point. Luckily it was sunny so we were able to finish our post lunch drinks outside. Would return for sure. Good vegetarian options. Disappointingly small car park and with the opening of the village bakery amd farm shop its going yo be even more difficult to park.

I popped in briefly for a quick bite to eat, and I was greeted by a grumpy looking fella. Which he took my drinks order, which he sorted rather quickly. However he did see i had a young baby with me, yet he did not offer to help me carry the drink. Which I think is rather rude. I shortly settled into the back of the pub, and had a lovely young waitress which took my order of a panini and a bowl of chips. Well it was a huge disappointment and expensive for what it was. When the waitress took my plate I complained about the food, and made a comment on how awful the chips were and most definitely froozen. Which she agreed they are froozen and just walked off. Most definitely will not be visiting again. Such ashame as all the other reviews gave such high hopes.

The quality of the food and value, were both good. There restaurant was fairly quiet, but even so the service was rather leisurely. As we (a party of 6) had met up for a meal with no time pressures, this was fine, but anybody in more of a hurry, or with younger children, may have found this rather difficult. Cold drinks are on the expensive side, especially wines by the glass for the quality served.

Friday evening meal after a long drive down south, we had been looking forward to visiting after a few visits last summer for drinks in the sunny garden. Food was ok. Starters were ok, but nothing special, my squid was tough and tasteless. Mains , Pies, local Chubbys Ham, and Thai Curry , all the main elements were good, especially the Ham and the Steak Pies, but the curry was bland and the chips were a real let down, Waitress had said, hand cut, twice fried and chunky ... I'm sorry, but they were probably frozen, very disappointing, how hard is it to get chips right. I mentioned it when she asked if everything had been ok. Response was a shrug. Not the best.

We came here as a large group in a private room to celebrate a very good friends 60th birthday and I was overall impressed with both the service and the food.My wife had a delicious prawn and crayfish cocktail to start while I enjoyed my duck spring rolls - man sized portions as well which was refreshing in these days of nouvelle cuisine portions. Most plumped for the various Sunday roasts available, my wife had pork while I was greedy and went for the mixed turkey, pork and beef option. The beef was a little tough but it was excellent apart from that, ample veg and a good cauliflower cheese which always improves a roast for me.Desserts were a slight letdown, both the apple and caramel Betty (??) and the sticky toffee pudding were average. We’d definitely return to try other things from the menu, it’s a typical country pub and has a nice atmosphere in the bar as well.I wish they’d switch the hot water tap to the right way round in the gents, I washed my hands in freezing water until I tried the wrong way (right) and it was hot.!

My wife and I visited the White Hart for Sunday lunch as we had read some good reports. The first positive impression was that not only was the pub full of diners but also that the staff were rapidly clearing tables for the next set of diners. We, like most people around us, had already decided to try the roast dinner and when we noticed that not only could you have a choice of Beef, Lamb, Pork or chicken but also have a trio we decided to try that option. The food was fantastic but once you had the various vegetables (lots of choice) and the Yorkshire puddings the event turned into a version of Man V Food. The result was a very satisfied pair of diners and we did then share a dessert (again a great selection and it was hard to resist). The staff were all brilliant and very well trained and the overall experience was first class. We noticed there was also a new lunch menu about to be launched and so we will give that a try in the future.

I’ve stayed at the White Hart now on a number of occasions when I’m working away from home in Milton Keynes. It never fails to disappoint and the food offered is good value for money. I must admit I’m always very partial to the pies they have on offer. Then there is the breakfast which is always cooked to order, fresh, and plenty of it, always using local sourced produce. The staff are great and always go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Finally the rooms are very clean and comfortable and great value for money being so close to central Milton Keynes. We and another couple stayed at the White Hart for one Saturday night as we were in the area, visiting Bletchley Park. The rooms were good and there were some thoughtful touches, in addition to a great selection of pod coffee and tea bags we had crisps, which made a change to the usual biscuits. The bed was very comfortable and a fan had been provided, due to the hot weather. We also had a small fridge in our room, which was not immediately obvious but when found was great to keep a bottle of water in (which had been provided - not 'bottled' water, a bottle that had been filled with tap water). We had pre-booked a table for dinner in the evening which is recommended as it appears to be very popular. There was a good selection on the menu and portion sizes were generous. The food was delicious. One of us had a gluten and dairy free requirement, which was advised prior to booking. Whilst the menu does not specifically indicate gluten-free options we were advised that food could be made to meet the requirement. Breakfast has to be mentioned....the selection made it extremely difficult to choose....so many great options! Again, delicious and very well presented. Would thoroughly recommend staying at the White Hart. One last comment - the staff were so friendly and accommodating, which really enhanced our stay.

Concur completely with the previous posting.Wife and I visited at lunchtime too and had the ploughman's. More or less the same contents except we had a single slice of bread. Quite thick, warmed but given the amount of butter, we could have done with it being sliced. The wooden platter the meal was served on was so narrow, we both spent a lot to time picking food off the table. We had half a pork pie each, the cheese which really tasted like a prepack and agree, for the price £7.50, really felt it was extremely poor value for money.3 real ales (I had the guest at £3.40) were better priced but the J2O equivalent at £2.20 was a poor relation compared to the larger brand. All in all a disappointment.

Feel a bit gutted only leaving 3 stars because the hotel room, service and food has been outstanding. What lets this place down is rude locals who seem to run the outside car park area.Arrived on business around 5pm and although there are car park spaces clearly marked out.. Locals sat outside stood in the way to stop me parking as there is also tables and chairs outside in the same area. Ended up parking down the road. Then sat outside myself, doing some paperwork.. And the locals literally decided who could park in the hotel car park or not by pushing their chairs back and blocking cars coming in. Felt completely unwelcome and ended up going to bed early Great food and service but the management need to decide whether the outside area is a car park or the "locals area" and enforce whichever decision they make. Wont be coming here again unfortunately despite it being a great hotel.

Small pub/restaurant, friendly and good service from the young staff BUT the room where we were seated was very overcrowd-it was a good job there was only three of us as it would have been impossible to seat four, we had to move to allow people on the big table behind us to get in or out.The large party behind us were noisy and very loud, possibly in a vain attempt to drown out the terrible pub "singers", who were absolutely dreadful. Why did the landlord have them?!Good potential but I will not be back to find out more.

It's a nice little local pub in a gorgeous little village.Good selection of cask ales and wines, nice local clientele, all villages should have a pub like this.

Saturday night and we fancied tapas! Rather than go to our regular venue, La Tasca, we decided to revisit the White Hart as we hadn't been there for a while. We got there, waited for a table, sat down and looked at the menu...That's funny, we thought, we'd checked the website and tapas were definitely on the menu but not in the pub, so I asked. "No, sorry we haven't done tapas for over a year now."As it was past 8.30 we decided to stay although nothing on the menu was leaping out as something to try. My partner went for the salmon tagliatelle and I was tempted as another diner had this and it looked pretty good. However, I asked abut the southern fried chicken "Can I have a piece of brest please, I'm not too keen on fried chicken legs""No problem" said the waitress, "you actually get a few pieces, it's very popular" so that's what I ordered...After a short wait my partner's tagliatelle arrived, I tried it and it was very nice indeed! We waited... After about another 5 minutes my meal arrived and what a delight - two chicken legs and some part of a chicken that had ribs but very little meat on it - I was not overly impressed.I pointed out that my partner, who'd nearly finished her meal was still waiting for her mixed salad to arrive. The waitress disappeared and came back after about 2 minutes, she needn't have bothered, the salad had been covered in olive oil, something neither of us were particularly fond of. I realise this is just a matter of taste but couldn't the dressing be served seperately? After the meal, most of which I left, the waitress asked the obligatory "Was everything OK?" I said the pasta was very nice but I wasn't too happy with the chicken."Oh, that's a surprise, it's one of our best sellers" she replied."It might be if you liked chicken legs, something I expressly said that I didn't want""Oh, sorry. Do you want to see the dessert menu?""Ah, no thanks, we'll be on our way!"All in all, this was a rather disappointing evening and I doubt that we'll be back in a long time.

Had another very nice Sunday lunch yesterday with the family. The portions are generous and the beef is really tender. The young waiting staff are helpful and attentive. This typical village pub has a good atmosphere and a wide choice of wines and beers. There is a large restaurant and also a snug where meals are eaten. It is at the top of the vilage on Gun Lane, off Church Road. They also have a seperate building for B&B. Highly recommended.

Nice pub to stop at on a cold January day with its lovely fire, although don't sit too near it.The sandwiches are fine but for an extra £1.50 you can have soup which normally alone costs £4+It is a bit tucked away as the last twice in the village we only found a closed up pub & never noticed The White Hart so you will have to look. Also a few rooms available to stay if you wish.

The food, and service is consistently good here. No matter when we come for lunch, everything is top notch. Perfectly cooked, fresh, and delicious. Such good value, always decent portions. I totally adore the chips, and just cannot avoid ordering them, ever!!! Keep promising ourselves that we will come over for dinner, and we need to make that happen-very soon!! If you haven't visited, you really should!

We use the pub regularly for beers, cider and wines, there is always an interesting real ale to drink (usually one from Hopping Mad in Olney and a few others). We have also used the pub for a large birthday, a family reunion for 25, shooting lunches for 30, et cetera..... in 5 years of regular use we have been astonished at the ability of the team to manage every occasion, from the Beer and Sausage Fest through to the simplest lunch, and the rooms are excellent, and we have small children who love running around causing chaos, I could go on. If you want a gourmet high end gastro-pub meal then maybe that is still stretching it a little, but really we consider ourselves very lucky indeed to have it.We live in Sherington, but I have tried to offer no bias in the review and it is not at the request of anyone connected to the pub. Read my other reviews if that doesn't convince you!

This is a place much praised by real ale fans - and rightly so. A well-kept and interesting selection of craft beers which I'd sampled on a couple of earlier visits. But this was my first eating experience - and a disappointing one. The food was OK and certainly seemed fresh. However, the surroundings were tired and fairly scruffy. Needs a fair bit of tlc.

We've only been here a couple of times before (and probably a year or 2 ago if not longer) and each time had an excellent meal. This time was a special occasion with friends - 4 in total.First there was one dish not available, then after 2 of us chose prawn and avocado cocktail there was no avocado. Then no potatoes bravas (it's a pseudo tapas menu). Later something else wasn't available. I can only comment on my 'house' burger which was the driest old thing I've had in years. No I didn't complain - it was a special occasion and would have been inappropriate. One of the beers was at the end of the barrel and became undrinkable as I went down the glass. A comment to the staff was barely acknowledged and I'm pretty certain the barrel wasn't changed. Finally, we were significantly over-charged with someone else's food on our bill. It was my fault for not checking more closely. To their credit when we returned the next day we were promptly refunded. What used to be a measurably-better-than-average, 'restaurant that sells beer' has morphed into a village 'pub that sells food'. I'm sure if you live in the village and fancy a cold lager or bottle of wine with a couple of 'tapas' dishes, you will probably be happy with it, and in those circumstances we would too. Regrettably for us, it was a place we chose to eat expecting a lovely, restaurant-quality meal. I'm afraid we won't be back.

The White Hart Restaurant is in the historic village of Sherington, near Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, England - well, The White Hart Inn describes it better for me. It's more than a restaurant because there is accommodation and this place is just what I think a village inn should be like. It was comfortable and relaxed with friendly staff and there were local draught beers as well as the usual beers and other beverages. We chose to start with bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar for dipping. A nice touch was the little dish of olives that accompanied this - and three different varieties of bread. I love sea bass and don`t get to eat it very often, so I was delighted to see it on the menu. It was lovely: tender and flavourful, as was the varied selection of vegetables that came with it. For dessert I ordered a crumble with all kinds of berries in it that came with custard and was pleased by the idea of presenting the custard in a little dish separate to the crumble itself. The fruit in the crumble was just sweet enough - I would say hardly any sugar and didn't need it as all the fruits had a great taste and there was some sugar in the crumble topping. We had coffee to finish off a pretty well perfect meal, in my opinion cooked, I heard, by Chef Giles.

Home alone.. well of course with Mr Wentworth.. yet not with Mrs Fitz.. she still in her homeland.. home tomorrow!! Yay! XSo decided to treat meself to a Sunday roast in a pub.. naturally this can pose a problem sometimes.. trying to find a good un.. no mickeywave nor boilin the bag.. first three pubs I tried.. nopem no good.. it’s great when you can see what others are eating first!.. so in true fashion made my excuses and left..Few phone calls to some pals.. and a call to Father to get on some digital research and I have arrived.. The White Hart in sherington, bit of a bugger to find.. yet In a quintessential English village.. and it’s busy.. with helpful staff.. it’s busy yet in a nice vibe way.. man they must be making their cashola.. and having just paid 14:50 gbp.. for a roast beef lunch *nd a pint of Lion IPA.. it better be good! XOk it’s arrived.. looks good although could do have done with the beef being a bit rarer.. like much rarer.. yet I suppose you gotta be careful in the suing culture these days!Horseradish sauce.. given to me in an unopened jar.. don’t people have horseradish here..??Anyhoo.. unbuttered veg.. fresh yet no butter? Or even some oil? Really? You ever tried eating veg like that.. feck! Still I had two carrot pieces and half a bit of cauli.. just to show willing..Was it a winner? Well I am happy it’s done what I needed it to do.. and done it pretty well.. would I have it again? Possibly.. yet you can’t beat Mrs Fitz roasties.. in fact next weekend am on it.. weather dependent of course! (it’s hard eating an English roast lunch in the heat! X)Am waiting on the dessert.. if you gonna treat ya-self.. well..Decided on the summer fruit crumble.. not bad.. too hot though.. !!Total bill? Just shy of twenty English pounds.. worth it? Not quite L’Oréal baby

Loved this quaint village pub and the warm welcome from the staff. We had Christmas dinner for 9 and the food was excellent - well presented and very tasty. The only disappointment was there appeared to be only 1 waitress and as the restaurant filled up, she was run off her feet! However she was very charming and helpful and did a great job looking after us.

We were looking for a place for a good roast beef locally and had enjoyed many a good beer and festival at the White Hart. The beef was thickly cut topside, not expensive but also barely cooked and and so chewy we left most. The gravy is an atrocity, has probably never seen a roasted bone or vegetable in it's life and was more or less lightly thickened flavoured water. The Yorkshire pudding was edible but not worth of a second mark. Back to school, maybe, for the chef unfortunately.

Would have been better going to McDonalds...... we went to the cafe here at 12:30 on a Friday and it didn't look busy. Waitress who took out order advised there was a 30 minute wait on food which would have been fine however, after an hour we were still waiting. When the food finally appeared it was clear that some of it wasn't fresh, peas were hard, beans congealed and toasties were hard. Food didn't all come out at the same time and there was no apology from the staff. Shame because the actual garden centre is lovely but next time we will either go to Frosts or elsewhere.

Typical pub which has only modernised a little so still has the true pub atmosphere. Gone is the smoky environment and considerably brighter than the old days but still recognisable as a pub with staff of the ‘old school’. Good range of food though and on this visit we had the most delicious Lasagne which was served with an excellent Garlic bread and nice salad. Add a bottle of wine, couple of deserts and the bill of £56 was not bad at all.
