The White Hart in Surrey Heath

Had a really lovely time at this beautiful pub. Obviously, with it being in Chobham, I did kind of expect a certain snootyness (no such word I know, and no offence to Chobham residents :o)). But there was none of that at all. Beautiful pub, easy to find, lots of parking out the back. The food was incredible, the service even better. Absolutely spot on. I would definitely recommend.

We had Sunday roast which was nice, roast potatoes tasted a bit like frozen or pre-prepared ones but I guess it is difficult to do anything else if they want to have these ready for orders at any time of the day (we were 6pm so a late slot). I’d give the roast 5 stars but down to 4 because if that, and then down to 3 due to overall price. Puddings were mediocre as they often are in most restaurants. Overall sting in the tail is this place is an over average pricing, and the on top of that is an automatic 12.5% service charge. No mention of who get that either - the business or the waiting staff? No mention of it being optional. So that was an £18 tip for a table of 4 that had 4 mains and 3 desserts, had one drink delivered to the table. and was there about an hour, I was a bit confused why the place was almost empty when every other place we had looked to book was fully booked for Sunday (this place had tables at every time slot right the way through Sunday evening). Now I think I know why, people probably think I the food and decor is nice, but don’t like the bill.

Fantastic! We look forward to returning. Food was delicious, the service was quick and friendly and the prices were very fair. ‘Proper’ sausages for the kids meal, not fake ones and adults mains were delicious. The Arctic slice for pudding was the highlight! The waitress looking after us was so kind and friendly with our son, I didn’t catch her name but she was great and her favourite colour is blue, if that helps work out who it was to pass on our good wishes! Just such nice smiles when we arrived and it just got better. We simply needed a break from driving but what we got was a jolly nice lunch. A "wonderful" risotto and salad and a fine baked camembert. Just the job!

My boyfriend and I had a lovely 3 course meal here this evening. Good portion sizes, great quality, variety of choices and very friendly, efficient service. I’ve lived locally all my life and never been here but definitely will be returning!

We had a pre Christmas lunchtime turkey roast. The meal was hot but the size of the meal was small. The place was far from busy. That should say something. The sweet was good but small. Overall £30 for 2 small courses was overpriced. The inclusion of a service charge is wrong. You will lose trade, looking after your customers is paramount

God this place is over priced and their starters are shocking , £8.25 for 4 prawns and half pitta bread ?? Waitress needs a pulse, doesn’t speak to her customers?? Waitress week before was brilliant, courteous, friendly , couldn’t do enough for you . More cars in their car park than actually in the pub? Food is bland no flavour and well over priced . Save your pennies go up the road .

As usual a good warm welcome here at the White Hart, and that’s so important. One of our selected choices from the menu wasn’t available but what we did choose was delicious. Fish ale with poached egg, fried halumi, green vegetables and French fries. Barman knowledgeable on the gins available which is always a good sign. Friendly service nice relaxed atmosphere. Had not visited for years, passing on our way home from Gloucester. Late lunch. Friendly welcome, and choice of what area to sit. Opted for the restaurant. Ordered drinks, which came promptly, and were required, refreshingly so. Rather tired so just chose a mains. The Crab Linguine was superb, good size portion and plenty of crab. He ordered the wild boar pie, the pastry was 'soft' but lovely flavours, and nice vegetables. The lemon tart was to die for. Superb. The service charge 'again' which now appears to be the norm. WE did check that the 'staff' do get this, one has to, some manager/owners do not 'share'. Parking area behind, which is a a bonus else no idea where to park in this busy area. Hopefully will come again.

The White Heart saved my father's day blunder when a booking elsewhere didn't register correctly and they made no attempt to help rectify their error. After having such a horrible customer service encounter there and trying to find another location quickly, Tom the barman was an absolute delight. He greeted us warmly and without hesitation suggested a few places for us to dine, making sure we had ample space to enjoy our meal. He made great Ale suggestions for my father and really went above and beyond for us. Our waitress was lovely, had plenty of time for us and was an all round great staff member to interact with (unfortunately forgot to ask her name!) The roasts were fantastic, the lamb shoulder fell off the bone and my dad was ecstatic with how good the quality was! The mixed roast was equally amazing and highly recommend both meals. Moreover the quality of the Ale from the lines was spectacular and the fact it's all local was even better! The offering of good quality low and non-alcoholic IPA and larger was a lovely surprise as often there is only Becks Blue to choose from in small local establishments. Thank you so much for welcoming us and treating us with such amazing service! We will no longer be attending the establishment we had issues with, we have been regular customers there for a number of years and the experience we had, coupled with the warm inviting atmosphere The White Heart has, was more than enough to convince us to drive the extra ten mins for our regular father and son meals/drinks. Thank you so so much and if you're considering this venue, without a doubt you won't be disappointed ☺️

Firstly, the beer here is great. The White Hart is justifiably in the Good Beer Guide. Our meal was first rate. I had the Cauliflower Milanese, which is the best veggie meal I have ever had out. It was a Cauliflower Steak in a crispy batter on a bed of linguine. Very tasty. My wife had the small plates - crispy squid, patron peppers and prawns pil pil. All three dishes were outstanding. The service was also excellent. It wasn't cheap but I have no hesitation in recommending The White Hart.

Really buzzing on a Friday night, mostly locals. Good selection of cask beer and great selection of wine by the glass. Food offering looked tempting (bar food and restaurant) so will return another time for that. Dog friendly.

We stopped on our way home from Wisley Gardens. Late lunch/early dinner on a Sunday. It's nice to have a pub that doesn't just focus on roasts on a Sunday. We ordered a couple of starters to share, they were all fantastic. We had the trout paté, crab salad, deep fried brie, chicken wings and padron peppers. Very nicely presented and so tasty. The pub was fairly quiet when we arrived around 4-5pm. They had no music playing which we really appreciated. It was so nice (and unusual) to be able to enjoy a nice meal out without blaring loud music. Staff were friendly and the service was quick. A very nice experience and we will definitely be back!

Being gluten free you very rarely get a handmade gluten free Yorkshire pudding. And this one did not disappoint! I would most definitely recommend! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and we will definitely be returning!

Five of us went to this pub yesterday for Sunday lunch. We had a lovely meal, and our server, Adam, was very friendly and professional. Our sitting was at 3pm (the earliest available for us, as we had booked late). A good sign, though, to know that the restaurant was buzzing. We shared a prawn starter which was delicious - My husband had a mussels starter. While tasty, he was thinking that the mussels would be inside their shells. They were in a batter, sort of "nibbles." Everyone had a roast dinner but me. I had a Fish Curry. All of our dishes were very good. We then had a brownie dessert which was decadent. Again, shared. When we were doing all of these "sharing " starters, desserts, Adam brought extra plates and was very patient about all the "kafuffle" that goes with sharing. We had a great experience - We ladies did not like our coffees (just "regular" ones and did not drink them. A very nice woman (Sorry, did not get your name) -came back to discuss, and said the coffees had been made fresh. In any event, we did not drink our coffees, but they were taken off of the bill. I would have given 5 " marks" -but a few tiny disappointments. The coffee was grim. We will definitely go back - And I recommend this pub. Lovely interior, friendly staff (thank you Adam) and the food was good. Loved my Fish Curry ! Adam said that he thought I would like it !

Went with friends Saturday evening for dinner, we had booked thank goodness, it was very busy when we arrived we have never been before and missed entrance to the car park, the bar area was busy when we arrived and couldn’t find anyone to let them know we had arrived, not the staffs fault it where the door is positioned, although it was really busy our food was very good and came out very promptly, all food hot and presentation lovely.

Very Nice Pub, comfortable seating, country surroundings. Reasonable priced food, Good Service, Small portions on the light menu. Not rushed just right for our catch up.

Went for Sunday lunch as a party of eight, service was warm and welcoming, we had a good size round table in the back. I had rare roast beef and it was beautiful, two of our party had the crispy beef salad, one had bream, one fish and chips, and three fish cakes. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The ice cream is lovely and those that chose the small pudding option enjoyed the warm chocolate brownie and ice cream with their coffee. Service was attentive without being intrusive and we had a lovely lunch. There were small children at some tables, they were obviously made welcome by staff and I would happily take my grandchildren there.

We enjoyed our lunches, really pleased that they offered smaller portions. I would say in my opinion that the food is good value for money. The restaurant is very cosy and comfortable. We were looked after very well and didn't feel rushed and we do like to natter and catch up with the gossip. A very pleasant 3 hours in delightful surroundings

We had the use of the dining room upstairs and the services of Rach - who gave us a 5* one-woman-show performance! Great evening with very good food and a superb selection of beers available which enhance its village pub roots. Lovely place to come winter (roaring log fire) and summer (outside tables available next to the beautiful church).I'd definitely recommend - and will come again soon.

I love this place. They have in my view struck a difficult balance between drinking and food. Because they've kept the bar area it's a good place for meeting people or just hiding from the family. It's also good for a meal.

My wife and I are regulars in The White Hart and have been for many years. Having written a review before I will say that nothing has changed my opinion. Unlike many pubs it has retained its pub atmosphere whilst having a very good restaurant. The staff are welcoming, polite and efficient and the food is excellent. There is a good selection of wines and beer. As well as the “House” beer there is choice of beers from local breweries selected by the manager who knows his beers. For those who do not know the area it is in the centre of the village with a good car park. The village atmosphere is enhanced not only by the locals and their dogs but by the local cricket club to the rear and the church on one side. In the winter there is a welcoming fire in the bar.

service was excellent, we were looked after by the supervisor who was great to chat to and quick to bring us water, answer any questions we had about the pub. Me and my family ate and the chicken pie was to die for!

Excellent meal at The White Hart. Three generations of family celebrated the holiday season and enjoyed great food, excellent servers, and lots of time to renew family ties. Pub was busy but we were served attentively by friendly staff. Excellent evening and rated 10/10 by all!

Six of us met here for lunch today as we have been doing on a regular basis over the years and the food has varied greatly. Today I can only speak for mine and my friends food as we ordered the same. We ordered a tartlet as a starter. We couldn’t tell from the taste what was in it, I could see spinach but nothing else. It was very bland and dry. Our light bite main course was mushroom risotto which was actually quite tasty but presented on ice cold plates so soon became cold. The waitress apologised but did not appear to report back to the kitchen. There were no complaints from the others but no compliments either. We all decided to have a starter and a light bite and with a couple having the small desserts and coffee and the bill with drinks came to £26. The staff are always really pleasant and we will be back as it is a convenient meeting place but hope next time the kitchen has upped their game.

Great service but poor menu. Unfortunately the menu doesn't show what is vegetarian/vegan so I had to ask. She checked for me and there was one suitable main which I didn't fancy so had the hummus starter and chips. Chips were good but not really what i want for a meal out. The hummus was ok but presentation was rough and the bread cold and tough ( my advice to the chef would be to try the hummus and flatbread at pizza express..surprisingly the best we've tried). As a vegan I don't expect a full menu but really this was not good. However, our waitress was lovely and got some warmed up bread..

We'd not been in here since Bluebeckers days. Very impressed with both the menu and the quality of the roast meats and veg. Super desserts and excellent service at a very reasonable price. Well done to all the staff thank you.

Thoroughly enjoyable Sunday lunch. Made to feel very welcome by bar staff who offered us the choice between a drink in the bar or going straight to our table. We chose the former and the staff were again really helpful in advising my wife which gin would best suit her tastes from their choice of over 40. I had a really nice pint of Tillingbourne Falls Gold.

Had lunch today and although I hate to write a bad review the lunch was absolutely tasteless - I had mushroom risotto the rice was a soggy mess with no taste at all and the mushroom were not much better, I wasn't paying for lunch or I would have sent the whole meal back instead I ate the mushrooms and left all of the rice, when the waiter collected the plates he didn't even comment, pretty poor service not to. Sorry chef you need to sort this out for future customers

Seven of us lunched here for one of our get-togethers. We arrived at intervals but were all there by 1. Two of the party had starters which arrived at 1.45. The mains then arrived some time after two. We were not asked if more drinks were required at all. Desserts were eventually offered, and we left at 3.15. It took some time to pay...having asked for the bill with desserts. We enjoyed our meeting but would have appreciated more attentive service. The food tasted good.

We visited for a birthday lunch, all had different starters and main courses, all were delicious and we were almost too full for dessert - just one person managed to eat a dessert. Good choice of wines and excellent service. My only complaint would be that the Ladies loos are upstairs.

We stopped off for a late lunch at about 15.45. A large car park at the rear so no issue about finding a space. A very warm welcome even though we had never been there before. The menu is on par with other Brunning and Price pubs and, personally, I love their draught bitter. Food was served very quickly and professionally. Overall, a great experience. We have lived in Chobham for almost a year now and have sampled all of the local pubs, which luckily are all wonderful. However, this is our favourite. The staff are polite and attentive, the range of drinks is excellent (especially the gins) and the food is always good. We have eaten here for breakfast, lunch and dinner on too many occasions to count, used the bar, bijou garden area and restaurant and will keep coming back.

Decided to give it another go, despite poor experience end of last year. Sadly no better; Menu limited, Food poor in taste and appearance, Amateur service. Wont be going again.

New in the area we were recommended three of the eating establishments in Chobham, and were delighted with our first choice, The White Hart. Despite not having booked on a very busy Wednesday evening we were warmly welcomed by Hervé who proceeded to find us a table for two. Drinks followed quickly after delivery of the menu and we chose our dishes (main course only). The crispy shredded beef salad comes very highly recommended readers. A delight! Hubby's curry of buttered chicken was a tad too spicy for him but afficionados of buttered chicken will love it. All polished off with a coffee and min pud. The sticky toffee pud was exactly the right size. All reasonably priced. Despite the continuous flow of diners we were well and promptly served. All in all a great dining experience in a restaurant full of atmosphere
