Wonderful food,& a great atmosphere. Staff & landlord first class.

The staff worked hard here to provide an efficient and friendly service, even during a busy Sunday. The food was excellent and whilst the bar isn’t quite as comfortable as the dining area, it’s the same great food and friendly service. On Sunday they have a special menu and a simple pricing structure. The yorkie with onion gravy as a starter was a highlight. Highly recommended.

Good food, great service. But a bit noisy, but definitely go back.

The last time we came to Stillington, we had such a delicious meal at Sue and Phil's pub. This time, we stayed at one of their cottages. What a cute little place with everything one might need and so clean and tidy. We have really enjoyed our stay. Soooo comfortable! A big thank you to Sue, Phil and their daughter! 😃

As the other reviews say, a great place to stop and eat and drink. My stake was the best I've ever had, and on our second visit the Sunday roast was excellent. The landlord told me that it was the chefs last day, after 35 years. You will be sadly missed. 10 out of 10 for everything. Let's hope the new chef keeps up the standard. We will return

We went here twice whilst on holiday. We had visited 4 years ago and it was just as good as it had been there. Very friendly landlord and staff. Great choice on the menu and specials board. Delicious, hot, reasonably priced meals. It’s very popular so it’s best to book a table in advance.

We stopped here on a whim with a party of 6 and fortunately they were able to cater for us. The menu choices are great and fresh home cooked. The wait time on the food is a bit longer than mainstream pubs but once we started to tuck in, it was obvious why. All plates were cleared by each party member. My steak was quite possibly the best I have had, with fresh home cooked chips and fresh peppercorn sauce to top it off. I would definitely consider a return visit if I am in the area. The staff are very accommodating and helpful, which added to a fabulous visit. Thank you from us all. Our party returned for a second meal this week and again the food was amazing. Highly recommend if you are in the area. It's worth booking as this place fills up quickly.

Ate here as a group of 4 adults. Everyone’s food was well presented & delicious. Pleasant atmosphere with good service, off street parking available. Nice seating area behind the pub but the seating is a little wobbly & in need of repair.

We have visited this pub several times, another visit is on the cards very soon. This pub does great food, so good you have to book in advance to get a table. They even have their own White Bear beer, well worth a try if you’re a bitter drinker. So please don’t tell your friends, I have enough trouble booking a table as it is!!

We went for Sunday lunch - one meat eater one vegetarian one fish lover. All had great meals - everything home cooked perfectly. Service great - very friendly. The menu is different every Sunday but always good.

This place is a little gem. The staff are second to none and so friendly and helpful from the second you walk in the door. The food and drink is of absolute top quality. Lovely friendly family atmosphere and a great venue. We can’t recommend this place highly enough. Looking forward to a return visit very soon.

Lovely looking typing country pub. But once sat at table I was cold as they left front door open, I had to eat my meat with coat on, as did many other diners. Price reasonable. Staff friendly and helpful. Ordered fish and chips, chips had been overcooked and looked like they had been warned up and didn't taste that great, the batter on fish was uncooked in places but the fish inside was really nice. Our table was sticky and needed cleaning, I think the staff were very busy though and were doing their best. Bit disappointed, alright for a couple of drinks.

Great pub ! The food our table ordered was a success with everybody, I had the Lamb Henry which was gorgeous and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Choice of beers at the bar is good, the staff are very friendly and work hard to please and get meals out quickly, we look forward to our return sometime soon.

This family friendly pub is everything you could want from a village eatery and pub. Full marks from me!

The people working there were just so kind. Valentine’s night, family of four with two under 8years, no booking, not a problem. They all went above and beyond; taking an interest in us, giving ideas as to where to visit, delicious food and drinks, great service, engaging with the children, just being so lovely. Even a lollipop at the end of the meal for the little ones. Such a lovely, chilled atmosphere with very kind staff. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area but even more so if you have children with you. If we are lucky enough to be in the vicinity again, we know where to come.

The White Bear is the yard stick that all other such establishments should be judged by. The value for money, ambience, liquid refreshment is second to none.

what a Gem … we were on holiday in the area and popped in for a evening meal, it was beautiful, proper food, cooked well, and presentation on the plate was A1, service was really lovely and really worth a visit but I imagine they fill up quickly so a call ahead would be advisable .

Good service and excellent food for our Anniversary meal. We were staying at Huby, the next village and we're definitely impressed with this place. If you are around, book in and give it a try.

What a wonderful place. The atmosphere is so cosy, food is delicious and staff are so kind! My partner and I stopped by on our way back from exploring the local forest with our little corgi and felt very very welcome. Amazing experience. We will certainly be coming back.

Visited the WBI whilst on holiday in the village. Really friendly and welcoming pub - a warm welcome from both the landlord and the locals. Food was excellent and the local beer kept me entertained for the week. Highly recommended.

Beer with the milky consistency from the halcyon days of Tetley's when it was brewed in Leeds in the 80's. Great value too.

Excellent food and very friendly and welcoming

Just enjoyed my Sunday lunch with a party of 5 - 3 adults and two children aged 3 and 5. Recommend their poached haddock fillet and fruit crumble. Was also able to get a pint of bitter - their own beer.

This is a fantastic pub with a good choice of beers and great food. I love the Sunday lunch choice, which is changed weekly. The bar area is dog friendly and my dog Oscar is always given a great welcome by the staff. I would recommend this pub but also recommend that you ring up to book.

Lovely village pub. One room serving top quality food the other is a proper tap room. Great pint of Copper Dragon best bitter. I'll have to bring a driver on my next visit, 1 pint is not enough when you fancy a session. Staff are super attentive.

This is a great village pub with good food and a proper local welcome. Custard's not up to much though. Everything else was brilliant.

Passing on the way back from Helmsley and thought I would stop off and see if they are serving food as it was getting on for time, and yes they were and so I ordered drinks and food and what can I say I'm definitely going back there it was amazing so friendly and food was delicious only wish I lived near it would be my local top marks!

What a brilliant find! A lovely cottage, clean, spacious, comfortable. Everything you need in the kitchen, cooker, microwave, dishwasher. Free parking right outside. Very wheelchair friendly, slight lip at front door easily negotiated. Walk-in shower. Lovely food in their pub next door. Very quiet at night. Great base to explore the area, 20 mins drive to York.

Me and my boyfriend had an amazing dinner, really good service and food. We highly recommend it and we hope to go again.

My birthday lunch was disappointing as were the food choices my friends made. Quite a good choice of vegetables but the gravy was tasteless. Nice homemade mint sauce saved the day. Sweet choice doesnt change much from one time to another. Have had very nice meals in the past. It was quite a busy Friday lunchtime. Not sure if there was a staff shortage.

We stopped off for dinner and the welcoming host found us a table immediately. The drinks arrived quickly then our order was taken. No sitting around waiting to be noticed like in other pubs we visited. The food arrived beautifully presented and delicious. The tempura prawns are fantastic. I had the Cajun chicken strips were great as was my partner's steak. Great place with great food.

Really well home cooked food, staff friendly, super with 1 guest in the party had dietary requirements these were accomadeted for without any problems. Many thanks white bear stillington 5 star meal

Service was good, the pork medallions, steak in the steak pie were dry and not very tender.

The White Bear is always a great experience, the staff are really down to earth and friendly and the food is always fantastic.

If I could leave negative stars I would. My experience is they are not dog friendly. The owners are rude. Insensitive and thoughtless. Food is pretty standard. Not a pub if go out my way to visit. Not likely to go back

Great place. Went on a Sunday and had a lovely Sunday dinner. Good choice of real ales. The place was clean, the staff were polite and friendly and there seemed to be a good atmosphere in there.

The Staff are wonderful in that they are so friendly and efficient. The food was excellent especially if you suffered with a food allergy.

Definitely recommend food.

We have stayed in this beautiful village for a weeks break. We found the gem that is The White Bear. Phil Sue and team made us very welcome. The food has been fabulous. Great portions and beautifully cooked. Sue’s home made desserts are not to be missed. The local White Bear Bitter is a great pint. Creamy and slipped down too easily. Thank you for your hospitality. Had an amazing time phill and sue are so welcoming and accommodating the a accomodation was spotless the beds so comfortable best sleep i have had for awhile and food in the pub delicious highly recommed the white bear

We went two nights for an Evening Meal and they were Excellent. The Staff were very pleasant. So busy.They deserve to do well.

Had a table booked for 7pm decided to go over for a drink first and as we had a little dog was told we had to sit outside in the rain until the table was free. The table was tucked in the corner of the public bar where all the locals were staring at us. I asked if we could possibly sit in the dining area when I was abruptly told no! Can't comment about the food because we didn't stay for any but if it is anything like the attitude I wouldn't bother. If you have a dog don't bother as they are not dog or human friendly for that matter!
