Used to visit frequently when we lived closer and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We came for an early Mother’s Day bite to eat with two children and a baby. Staff were very attentive and seated us immediately. They helped manoeuvre the pram around and it was only after a few minutes we realised we’d been seated directly in front of the speakers for the live music that was about to start. I have no issue with the music as he was lovely but it did seem an odd time as it seemed most people around were wanting to watch the rugby or talk but it was ok and actually the baby wasn’t phased and the gent was very talented. We ordered two sharers at around £9 each and 3 of the light bites for £15.95 along with a round of drinks taking the bulk to arbour £49. A table were moved to sit behind us and had clearly been drinking all day, I have no issue with this but the noise from the women was horrendous. The screeching, the hysterical laughter and screaming was insufferable and only got worse. At 7pm I’d understand I shouldnt be complaining but this was 1630. Bearing in mind we’re in front of guitar amps and the baby was sitting happily, the moment these guests began screaming it was apparent we weren’t the only ones irritated but I appreciate this isn’t the potting sheds fault. We hoped to leave as soon as our food was finished and so when it arrived that’s when I felt really disappointed. Considering the price I felt it was very poor. The nacho sharer looked like it was a few tortilla chips chucked on a plate, spoonful of salsa, a small ration of cheese and shoved in the microwave. Sour cream blobbed on top and put it came, for £9 it is daylight robbery and there wasn’t much sharing involved. The halloumi fries although soggy, rubbery and and Luke warm were ok. The peri chicken strips were quite nice but the chicken pieces although nice the size was shocking, essentially one chicken nugget size portion chopped into 6 or 7 pieces. The sharing fries were meant to be bacon and cheese and first had just coddled together on a plate. They looked brown burnt and soggy and very sad. I struggled to find the bacon but again assumed it was the cheese and the microwave to melt it and out they came. Very unappealing especially for the cost which is a shame as having been frequently before we’ve always enjoyed this type of food with the children as a treat saving money from larger meals. I had to move our table to sit in front of the toilet to escape the screaming guests directly behind us and the staff were very he loudly in doing this. As soon as we finished we left because every time the screeching started the baby was upset. Bearing in mind again we’d say by speakers so that hadn’t been an issue as she was happily watching the performance until then. The noise and language from the guests was just ridiculous and I didn’t want to add further with upset children. The staff again were lovely and hardworking but the atmosphere was sadly ruined by the guests and the food. Probably wouldn’t visit again unless it was just a drink.

Another lovely meal at lunchtime today. Yorkshire pudding steak wrap with chips and the best gravy iv ever tasted. Great place lovely welcome and very friendly staff. Will be back soon.

Went on Sat 24/2/24 ttime was ok but ruined as there was a terrible live guitarist on. Killed every song. Not one person applauded him. Never again! Oh and was advertised as showing Six Nations games and England was on but yep, guitarist ruined that too. Why was he even there?!

Ordered gammon egg and chips. Was awful. Egg was overcooked with hard yolk. I commented on this and a replacement was brought a few mins later. Chips were poor, soggy and greasy. Gammon was just passable. No garnish, no peas etc and presented with no care. I was hungry after a long day at work so just ate it . How is it possible to wreck gammon egg and chips? I won't eat here again.

Lovely helpful staff, nice setting and overall a wonderful place to visit

Not very impressed, my wife and I went on Sunday for lunch only to find the outside heavily deposited with broken glass cigarette butts all over and empty bottles and glasses in plant pots at 12.15 pm. Then when we asked for our drinks we were told that that particular beer wasn't available yet. When we asked for a Sunday lunch menu which should have been on the table we had to ask 3 different members of staff who were all unsure and had to ask someone else. Not very impressed as it has only just reopened.

Went there on Saturday afternoon with another family, as a group we were 4 adults 4 children. Food was spot on and well presented. I rated service as 5 stars (according to our recipt our server was Nyx ) as they went over and above to make sure our party was welcome and properly catered for. However there could have been more staff on! The whole place had a fun vibe about it I'd definitely like to stay for a full evening at some point! Further edit I was very satisfied with our visit, would happily visit again. I only mentioned staff levels to be informative to the owners.

The food was expensive and poor Ordered a BLT and fries to share. No T in my half and 2 bits of streaky bacon in the whole thing. it cost nearly £10 plus extra for chips. Staff were lovely friendly and attentive but the food was poor Won't visit again

Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago…absolutely fantastic… I understand it’s fairly new to the menu, honestly, the quality was so good, perfectly cooked, chef popped over to ask if everyone enjoyed their meal, couldn’t fault it. Keep up the good work, Chris, Kate & Maisie

Interesting building with lots of different rooms (some warmer than others 🥶) Very quiet on weekday late afternoons/evenings. Staff were lovely and friendly - very attentive. Food is very average for the price. I wouldn't recommend the veggie pizza - undercooked vegetables.

This is a great bar, family all had a Sunday lunch and everyone enjoyed. Staff were all great, the cook came out to ask if all ok, a good cook who knows what is doing. Looking forward to next visit 👍🍻

Don’t bother with the bottomless brunch, waste of time and money. We were asked to pay for the brunch before we started, which was agreed but this took 15 minutes.. to process 8 people’s payments. We then we’re told we would have to wait another 5 minutes for our table to be ready (which was pre booked) There aren’t dedicated brunch staff so service was extremely slow and meant we only had 2 drinks each which is most definitely not a bottomless brunch. 2 people received their food later than everyone else as the chef said he didn’t have any more plates! We ordered extra chips and when they arrived we were a portion short and they were all cold.. when we asked they said the 3 portions were shared amongst 2 plates? There definitely was not 3 portions. They did replace the chips with fresh hot ones, however the chef stood and gave everyone at the table dirty looks! The bar itself is lovely and the bar staff were brilliant. The brunch was a complete let down and generally an awful experience.

We had an excellent evening cocktail making for my daughters hen party. The gentleman, sorry lots of alcohol/cocktails I've forgotten his name think it was Marius. Looked after us all so well and joined in the fun and laughter. Even after the cocktail making was over, he looked after us, making sure we were all having fun. Thank you again for making such lovely memories, highly recommend.

Food was tasty enough but not very warm. Nice chips but cold. Didn't say anything at the time because we had waited a while and we're starving. Place wasn't busy.

Enjoyed a decent meal tonight. After highlighting a gluten intolerance our waitress was very helpful. The chef also stopped at our table and highlighted which meals he could adapt to suit GF. I hope to be back again soon. Thank you.

Second time we have visited The Potting Shed and can honestly say the customer service is outstanding. It is super dog friendly too. Our daughter loved eating in one of the sheds which was a real novelty. The food was lovely and very good value for money. All staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to make our visit enjoyable. We will definitely be back soon. Keep up the good work.

Lovely little place that’s dog friendly. Our server, Nyx, was just amazing. Never had such a lovely experience with a waitress! Food was tasty. Me, my mum and our dog had a really nice time! Would highly recommend to visit and if you can, get Nyx as your server!!

Really nice pub in Northallerton has loads of offers 2 for 1 cocktails deals on food. Several different beers on tap including there own Amber Ale.

Bar staff and those waiting at tables were great. Had the burger with blue cheese in Yorkshire puddings; bit of a cheese surprise; and the iceberg lettuce made the pudding a bit soggy (nice chips though); but my friend's posh fish finger sandwich was very underwhelming. Over battered fish; she literally poured out a small piece of cod from one of them. But it was the affectation of customer service that was most disappointing. Not sure if he was a manager, didn't introduce himself and when we shared our view about the meal he just said that it was difficult to reimburse us as we had already paid for the meal. Erm... if you are the manager you know that's a standard process. No offer of desserts, or a drink. Perhaps he wasn't really the manager: he didn't seem to have any authority or power, or imagination about how we could leave as satisfied customers. We'll never know. Won't return.

What a lovely bar, great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, thank you Adam. Definite return visit next time I'm in Northallerton. Second visit today, I admire and like the originality, the ambience, the decor and the staff. Once you know where the loos are, you can be entertained all day.

We got 4 pints told the Manager it did not taste nice it was flat .He say it smells ok? .put it down sink .Then say if we like another pint it was £15.and we were Drunk. We had Travelled down from Sunderland had just got of the Bus this was 1 pint .He then phone Police. He was not nise Manager. There was 17 men age 60+ we are not kids .

Great tasty food lots of choice, great location in the heart of Northallerton

Very disappointed with the lunch we had. Mostly of it was just warmed up. Pie very poor, chicken kebab was just lettuce chopped up, 1.5 cherry tomatoes and 5 strips of cold chicken on a cold flat bread. Tasteless. Could see the chef but couldn't see any cooking,saw a fridge and microwave. Quite strange really when they are on view and not having pans on cooking good food.

We came a couple of weeks ago and ate in a side room, Nyx was Brilliant and looked after us so well...our meal was delicious 😋

Popped in on a return journey home to York today. We were greeted straight away by staff and advised it was table service. The food was fab! My husband went for the Shed Burrito which is steak with horse radish sauce wrapped in huge Yorkshire puddings and served with skin-on chips and a bowl of hot gravy! I loved my beef burger but should have opted for my husband’s order. Staff lovely, attentive and quick. Will pop in again for sure. 🙂👍

Good venue and decent food. My only gripe is that when I asked a member of staff about the hazyness of my beer (which was your own brew) he said it could be the end of a barrel or a new one just gone in. Sorry not the right reply. When a barrel is changed surely you should pull the new one through to get rid of the dregs not just put it on and let it work itself through. That's what I was taught when i worked in the trade. My second one was far better. Clear and tasted better too.

Went to the Potting Shed on Friday night (12/05) For the first time as a group of 4. The atmosphere and decor is really vibrant, with live music and an excellent range of beers, spirits and cocktails. The staff were attentive and friendly (special thanks the Nyx for the personal and quality service) and it's nice to go to a venue with not only security on the door, but enough space inside that you can find a table or space without being packed in like sardines! There is even a private pool table room available for a small deposit behind the bar - will definitely be back again soon!

The little Waiter asked me to wait whilst the card transaction went through, as if I I was about to do a runner. Unprofessional and belittling.

Friendly staff and great choice of beverages. A little expensive but that's a part of going into these trendy bars I guess so pay up or go to the workmans club 😜.

Marius is amazing! (Northallerton) So happy and helpful! My chicken wrap was lush - the actual flatbread was really soft and the Bourbon BBQ sauce was yum! Had a fab day and drank many much cocktails haha

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Really quick service and excellent food too. Really good that they give a discount for blue light card holders which keeps us coming back again and again. We had the posh fish finger sandwich and sweet potato fries, cheese and bacon burger, the gnomes revenge burger which was huge! And the amazing shed burrito with beef which was cooked exactly as we liked it, and had delicious gravy that we all had to dip our chips into! The Sunday roast is lovely as well and we will be back again in March for our second mothers day lunch here 😊

We attended as a party of 12 for a mix of bottomless brunch and afternoon teas. Great communication before hand. On the day, WOW! The afternoon teas were amazing. Lots of delicious food. Very tentative staff. Marius, fantastic work and thanks for looking after us so well.

We came for bottomless brunch and had the best service from Marius! He was very attentive and cared for our needs! He was also very considerate of my pregnant fiancée making sure she knew which alcohol free drinks she could have and encouraging her to try new ones which she enjoyed! He made lots of jokes and kept us all laughing!

The food was edible, nothing special but the customer service was good. It did not look very clean when I looked down on the floor, there were bits of food everywhere. We had to move tables. This surprised me, as it had just opened for lunch, so this must've of been from the day before.

Waited 40 minutes for our food to come one pizza one burger there was 3 tables in after the 40 minutes wait one burger come out and looked round and the chef was picking the bacon of my pizza walked out waste of time no wonder there is so many offers on because they are struggling if you want a nice meal at half the cost go across the road to weather spoons

Great old building that’s been converted to this pub so lots of different rooms and doors to various places. Which can be nice if you want a quieter time and get a side room that’s an option if they’re available. It’s table service which was nice, our waitress would did very well and was really polite. The food is good, eaten here a couple of times and it’s a good standard Pizzas are nice and have some decent offers at certain times. Really nice outdoor area which is good in the summer. Great for a late night drink as well but gets busy.

Had a work get together here today in a private room. Staff were great. Food was served to all of us in good time and we were looked after very well. Big thanks to all including chefs Jake and Paul and a big shout out to the chap taking our drinks orders (sorry didnt get your name) but your service was spot on. Thanks guys 👍

The staff here are fantastic. We turned up on Sunday without booking and they accommodated 12 of us for food and drinks even though the pub was very busy. Lovely food and excellent service. Highly recommended

Nice venue and asthetics. Friendly staff. Food ok - we went for the posh fish finger sandwich which was a small amount of disappointing (fish fingers were posh but not the bread!). I don't know if this is unfair but it's just how we felt.

Just been for lunch. No lids for teapots, no salad cream, still waiting for ketchup… BLT came with no tomatoes, clue in the name… 3 out if 4 meals came the the fourth six minutes later. The food was not good, poor girl waiting on the table was lovely but very inexperienced

We just had an amazing night out at the Potting Shed. Super friendly staff who are always willing to go the extra mile. I must give a special mention to Marius who is always welcoming and ensures that you have whatever you need. Really nice place to eat out in the daytime, not the cheapest but nice food. They used to do meerkat meals 2 for one which was good value and don't think they do it anymore but could be wrong. There's a 2 4 1 pizza deal mon to wed and they do a blue light card discount which is not advertised but certain it's 10 or 15% any thing helps I would pick the buck at the moment as they have a pizza and drink deal on but love a trip to the potting shed. They are dog friendly to which is nice

Visited today and once inside it was a nice place to have a meal. Service a bit slow and the waiter serving other people even though we only had half of our meal!!!. The meal we ordered was 2 x mixed kebabs and chips, the meal itself was nice but plate was full of salad, honestly the meat was non existent. 2 x small pieces of lamb kofta but the chicken was 3 x very very small and extremely thin pieces, not even the size of your little finger!!!!! For £13 each I found it very poor value. If and a big IF I returned I would definitely try something else but first impressions count and I am pretty underwhelmed.

Grace was really good. We were quite a large and indecisive group and she dealt with us really well. She was really patient and efficient. Food was fine and drinks were standard. Love the atmosphere in the garden and this is a regular of mine whenever I visit northallerton.

Lunch was posh fish finger sandwich which had hardly any fish fingers! Limp lettuce and too much dry bread. I am still waiting for my tartar sauce

Staff were so lovely, friendly and efficient. Dogs are welcome and Grace our waitress got our dog some water straight away. Food was delicious and came out fast. Would definitely recommend this place if you are wanting a great lunch.

Despite the fact that online pictures of the menu showed gluten free options. We arrived there and were met with unsurity on whether they cater for it or not, the waiter initially thought they might have a gluten free menu, but came back and basicaly told us that anything we ordered we'd have to say what would have to be taken out of the meal, i.e burger without the bun, but they can't do gluten free food and anything we ordered would likely be cross-contaminated. I find it insulting they have made this change as being coeliac isn't a lifestyle choice, but they had a vegan menu - which is a lifestyle choice.
