It would be hard to think of a better all round pub in the centre of Thirsk than the Little 3. It is a very smart and tidy pub in the traditional style; with its music evenings it provides a bit of entertainment; and on non-music nights it is a perfect local pub. The service from the two young ladies was friendly and professional and we always enjoy our visits here.

Went to the Little 3 in Thirsk for a night out to see a band play. It was a lovely evening - the pub is hospitable and the outside beer garden area is fine. But there was a weird problem. I ordered a Bacardi and coke - my date said she could taste no Bacardi. She was right. I ordered a second one, this time without ice. Same thing. No taste of Bacardi, no smell of Bacardi, nothing. I was quite sober as I was driving. And my date always feels the effect of one, let alone two, Bacardis but was feeling nothing at all. I checked with a third person, a guy who was also sober as he too was driving. He also could not detect any Bacardi at all. Now, it may be that all three of us were mistaken - I should perhaps have ordered a neat Bacardi on its own to check what I was actually buying. Could it be that the Bacardi as sold is being watered down? I don't know and don't want to be unfair to this pub. But three adults, none of whom were drunk, were unable to detect any Bacardi at all in two successive Bacardi & cokes. Make of that what you will.

Although the Little 3 might seem like a bit of a modern name, the pub is a splendid example of an old traditional pub with huge wooden beam and nooks and crannies aplenty; and according to signage it was originally called Ye Olde Three Tuns. The service during our visit was top class and the beers were also very good. This is certainly one of the best pubs in town and I can say from a previous visit that the music nights are also very good.

With a modern sign declaring the place to be The Little 3 you could be excused for assuming that this is one of those very fashionable micro pubs. The reality is that, whereas the owners might indeed have modern ideas re stocking a changing variety of real ales (along with the usual lagers, ciders etc), this is a wonderfully traditional pub. It is a very old building with a fine array of ancient, wooden beams and pillars, and the furnishings and decor are decidedly of the old-style, traditional boozer. As such, it is probably the best looking pub in town, and it is also quite a large pub with a few nooks and crannies downstairs and additional seating above. And getting back to the ales - the ones we had were top class, as was the service, and the pub has a really nice atmosphere. They also host live music and, by chance, there was a very good rock act on when we visited. Suffice to say that, although our intention was to sample a few pubs in town, we stayed here and had a super evening. Says it all really and, music or not, this is a super pub.

Visited here for a drink and food, but there was no food on a week day evening and found the place fairly empty, possibly due to the lack of food. We would have eaten but were informed that food is no longer served. However, inside on the walls there are many meal offers advertised for other local restaurants - weird. This was disappointing as we enjoyed our food on our previous visit. The customers behind us in the queue walked out when they heard that food was no longer served. The bar is full of character and nicely decorated inside. It was clean and well kept. That said it was uncomfortable because it was cold outside and the heating needed adjusting for the open door. Who knows how cold it will get in winter! We sat with coats on to keep warm.

First the good bits. This is my local and I visit A LOT ! The staff are great, the food spot on and the twice weekly music nights are great and well supported. They have a great selection of real ales all chosen and cellared well. The reason for the poor rating is their new wine list which has gone from fairly expensive to overpriced, given that this is a local pub. Their new standardised group wide wine list now sees a very poor house white not charged at £18.95 which is simply over priced. When I gave feedback to Andrew, the new manager he didn't seem to care, and I am not sure he passed this up the line. Similarly, mentions on Twitter have gone un-answered. So, go for the food, beer and music, but avoid the house wine. It's a shame that they don't seem to care anymore when given feedback.

We dropped in for a quick meal before watching live misic, Hope Newtons Innocent, who were absolutley great. Back to the food review: Sam, the manager, told me about an off menu item that head chef Graham had prepared for him earlier. This was a chicken burger made from pan fried chicked fillets that had been covered in a spicy flour coating, with bacon, cheese and some grea crispy chips. When asked if I could try this off menu item, the simple reply was yes! The dish itself was great and needs to appear on the main menu soon...... My wife had a chicken millanese in a herby coating with a tasty home made tomato sauce served with a rocket salad and crsipy new potatoes. Having pinched some I will order this on my next visit.

We arrived on NYE for a meal and evening with our friends. Looked in the bar for them but decided they must have already gone up to the restaurant. The bar was quite busy so we started walking upstairs when we were called back by someone who I presume was the manager. He called us back telling us that we couldn’t just walk upstairs like that! Were we booked in? What was the name? We told him who the table was booked in. At that point one of our friends came down to ask about the glass of Prosecco that was on the menu as being given to us on our arrival. He snapped about that too! To be honest I used to love this pub and was there very regularly when it was first taken over by West Parks. The beer garden has been the draw as always a great sun spot. Also the meals were always delicious until it became a Tex Mex. We visited less then so very disappointed at this... why not say hello or an excuse me would have sufficed. Myself and friends had a great night out at the little 3, there was a band on called the 4 possibly apologies if incorrect. The band had started later than advertised I believe it was after 8:40 when stated it would be 8pm which was no problem to us ladies as we had had a few by this time, there was a chap at the bar who seemed a little cross at this I believe he may be the boss which i totally understand his annoyance with the band to run a great business which this pub is and to advertise a band for 8 and them starting well after I would be annoyed also. But even after this mishap we still had a great night and all the staff are amazing even better they have prosecco on tap which is a massive thumbs up from me.

One main meal on the entire menu that is vegetarian. Butternut Squash pasta.... it’s not like in this day and age vegetarianism is an unheard of thing.

Called I. On the off chance yesterday as was let down by another pub in Thirsk. Very warm welcome by staff, lovely meal, amazing value the 2 for £20 with a drink. All our party (6) enjoyed the food and drink and it really made our day enjoyable before going to the races. Definitely recommend and we will be back!

What a surprise !! I have eaten here on and off for years and at best it has been inconsistent where food is concerned , however this visit has been lovely the food was brilliant ,so please keep this chef .give this place a consistent reputation so we can all recommend and give us a choice in Thirsk and not the Angle at top cliff

Visited here with family. Wonderful bar staff, wine menu and outdoor area. We ordered from the lunch menu and unfortunately had to return my £8.50ish sandwich 3 times. Personally would never buy food here again because of how they tried to rectify their poor offerings but I will visit again for the lovely atmosphere and selection quality drinks.

Convenient town centre location, excellent outdoor area for a fine day, good beers and an interesting and wide ranging menu. The day we were there the manager had left and had not been replaced and it showed. It is the little things that let places down. In this instance plenty of tables outside but I had to clear glasses away myself. A nice raised decking area covered in glasses, cobwebs and bird droppings - should be cleaned every morning even if there is no manager to keep an eye on things. Sage and squash ravioli was badly cooked - it looked as though the pasta had been warmed through by frying in the sage & oil dressing so the ravioli had crisp edges - sorry that's not the way to do it. Pleasant guy behind the bar but please give us the cutlery, tell us where to get it or bring it with you when you bring the food - saves me a long walk to get my own. Get the details right and I would be happy to return.

My dad and I had lunch in the huge outdoor area of the pub, staff were very friendly, food was lovely and great value for money. We had the Thai fishcakes and the steak and ale pie with a drink each...£20! We were also joined by a very friendly dog from the barbers next door...Clipper :)

Staying in Thirsk on a sunny Saturday evening. Sat out in the beer garden which isn’t the most picturesque in the world but was sunny & pleasant. Fine range of local real ales which seemed to be well kept. Menu was slightly different from your usual pub fare with dishes such as duck confit included. Plenty of pub favourites too (though pie unfortunately off the evening we were there). Food perfectly adequate - very much better than your average pub chain but without being really special. Would definitely go there again.

Had lunch here on a glorious day recently and was blown away. The menu was only on it's second day according to the chef when I spoke to him and it was such a change from the run of the mill pubs. Yes they do steak pies and fish but they also do unusual food for a pub. I had confit leg of duck with Toulouse sausage and cassoulet! In a pub? It was wonderful and I shall certainly return. Pubs/chef's like this deserve to be patronised and I wish them well, I'm not often in Thirsk but will now consider returning more often, please visit you will not be disappointed.

I have eaten at Clark's for over 25 years but now I will never eat here again. I am sick to death of the staff being rude and lazy thus resulting in poor hygiene and poor food. I ordered a chicken tik
