Barkers Department Store Coffee Shop in Hambleton

Staff were very polite and helpful. Cannot fault the service. However, the cooked food was lukewarm for both meals and then went cold within minutes due to cold plates. One chicken casserole and the other was pork stroganoff. Obviously we could have asked for it to be reheated but I’m not keen on reheated pork and really it should have been hot to start with; perhaps food thermometers should be kept in the dishes to keep tabs of the temperature. This might have been a one off but disappointing.

Would just like to thank faye who helped me with my 1st masectomy bra.well wasn't what i expected,i was so nervous.But thanks to faye she made it easy and made me feel so comfortable.thank you for that faye.i will be back

Great place to spend an hour or two, Two restaurants, toilet facilities. Cookwear, Gifts for all occasions, menswear with Boss, Gant, Diesel, Barbour, Le Croc, Super dry, Levi's. Women's wear with Joseph Ribkoff, Ralph Lauren, Ted Baker, Hobbs, to mention a few, but many more brands or labels in store. Also have to mention the helpful and friendly Staff who help with your shopping experience. It's a traditional store with traditional values.Worthy of 5 Stars and prices to suit all pockets and purses.

Visited the Bistro 82 for breakfast. Full vegan English breakfast & Pancakes with fruit berries & Maple syrup. (there are other topping options). Staff lovely & very helpful.

Good to still have an actual shop to shop in. Although, they had wrong prices on shoes. They actually cost more than the ticket price. As previously said, nice shop to visit.

Very disappointing coffee. Did not taste nice at all. Instant coffee would have been nicer. Had this with a cheese scone which was really poor too. Tasteless and stodgy. Not sure if they are made in house It’s a shame that a simple good coffee and cheese scone is not a high standard

Barkers at Northallerton is jewel in the north Yorks crown. Massive range of everything at great prices and seasonal sales. Really helpful staff that go the extra mile. Our favourite store.

Day trip to Northallerton. Spent quite some time in this shop. Plenty to see. Clothes, gifts toys, perfume, shoes. A restaurant as well. Well worth a look .

Confusing layout with multiple entrances/exits. Kitchenware is cramped and hard to navigate. Staff are friendly and helpful

Purchased mother of groom outfit, shoes , hat and bag from phase 8. Staff were excellent advising on accessories and bring different colours and sizes. Would highly recommend 👌

A wonderful place to shop for everything you may need and in one place. The staff are friendly in every department and they all excel in giving good customer service. The restaurant is a great place to eat too.

Good old fashioned quality shop.

Where has the beautiful children's section dissappeared too?? Visited today to find that this section of the store has almost been reduced to nothing. All the lovely clothes, feeding items, matching bags, towels etc reduced in stock or no longer sold. A few brands of toys left and more jellycat upstairs as well as down. Nothing in Northallerton now for children, years ago barkers stopped trading Clarke shoes for children, now obviously no need for clothing either. So sad to see half of this area now replaced with household gifts. What a sad sign of the times to find that this has happened....... Not much left now to buy as gifts for presents for children....... Dissapointed to see the changes and not a good move at all!!

Brilliant staff lovely quality products

I've always liked Barkers. It reminds me of the old-fashioned department stores my mum used to drag me around when I was a nipper. Although I didn't relish the prospect all those decades ago, I've developed an appreciation of such a fast disappearing establishment as I've matured. My wife and I live a fair distance away, but we've visited many times over the past 30 years. I'll always remember my wife buying a Phase 8 dress for our oldest daughters wedding in 2007. The choice of products available is impressive, and I've always found the service to be equal to it. Our family will be unwrapping numerous articles on Christmas day that have passed across one of the many counters.

Had a very pleasant trip into the store yesterday. The lady working around half 4 ish on the men’s fragrance section was so attentive and a real credit to the store, unfortunately I didn’t catch her name for a proper shoutout! I left feeling very well looked after, will definitely be back when this aftershave runs out.

An excellent large department store has a vast amount of clothing and accessories, the restaurant serves delicious meals, we'd definitely call again when in this area

Nice store expensive goods and a nice cafateria where we had a bite to eat.

Staff lovely, bacon bun disappointing, bun didn't seem that fresh , bacon didn't taste as it was cooked to order, which is why we go to the bistro rather than the cafe, weak tea, of course I should have said at the time , but didn't, have been before on many occasions , maybe a one off.

A great ‘old skool’ department store. Good sized Menswear department. Friendly staff from the second you walk through the door. They always do fantastic sale. Shops like this are dying out and it’s important to keep them on the high street. Always a great shopping experience.

Over priced no wonder retail parks are doing well

Called in for coffee and tea plus cake, have to say that the cappuccino took an age to make considering all the staff stood around chatting but I was not expecting a third of a cup of actual coffee and three quarters frothed topping, usually get it the other way round. The cake/ biscuit did not taste fresh, certainly seemed as though it was “pre-weekend”, the only plus was the nice pot of tea, cannot see us rushing back here.

Came here shopping and dining with the wife. Probably best described as the Fenwicks of Northallerton, well-regarded dept store

Nearly £9-00 for this? It is a disgrace! How can you justify the cost of 6 chips and a Panini with hardly anything inside. I always have had a Panini in the café when I am in town and over the past few months the salad and coleslaw has disappeared and the price of what remains has risen substantially.

I visited the restaurant at this store for the time today and was impressed at the gluten free options. Main courses, soups and desserts. I will definately be visiting again.

Good quality store. Actually two stores in Northallerton, one department store and one furniture store. Both with restaurants. Sale now on.

A favourite store of mine, I love it. There aren't many good department stores left, but Barkers has come a long way and evolved into a very successful business, having this store in The High Street and their Home Store, which is wonderful, on the edge of town. You can get most things here from cosmetics to greetings cards, children's items to footwear, menswear to threading, jewellery and more! They have 3 places where you can get something to eat and drink and the Home Store also has the Treetop Restaurant. You won't find run-of-the-mill here, but you will have a fab time finding that special item or two! Lots of very helpful, friendly staff too and plenty of parking!

Nice place, good food, but seriously disappointed with the toilets........2 ladies toilets, one was broken and apparently has been for some time and had to go up lots of stairs to get to them. Where is the disabled facility.....totally non existent. In this day and age this should not be allowed!!!!!

Well stocked store. Never been before. Decent mens clothing section

Went shopping with my sister we chose quite a few pieces of clothing. The assistant chose to take what we had to put aside while we carried on choosing. When we got back to the counter with a few more items the clothes that were set aside had been removed and put back. We asked why and the assistant said that they were closing in 20 mins and someone must have removed them. I was very upset with the ladies attitude towards the problem who just seemed to want to go home.

Self-service resteraunt good quality homemade food . steak pie ,lamb stew/ shank ,lasagne and newly introduced cumberland sausage delicious. all excellent value around £13.50 The Bistro also on the upper floor at the front, is table service; really good food at good value prices.our favourite is the steak sandwich. Fish and chips good

What a fabulous department store! So lovely to see what appeared to be a thriving shop. A huge range of pretty much everything, and actually better than the big names we all associate with department stores on the High Street. Really friendly and helpful personnel. A great spacious restaurant / coffee shop too!

Barkers is a very good department store with an excellent selection of upmarket clothing brands and accessories. Just had breakfast in Barkers Kitchen, very good breakfast, nice and hot, price includes tea or coffee which you can ask to be brought to you at the same time as the food. The restaurant has a good ambiance, plus nice views and toilets are always spot on. Also, Barkers also have a large furniture store about half a mile away which is also well worth visiting.

Has a bistro; does breakfasts. Big breakfast is huge and delicious. Loads of tea too. A little more expensive than some, but worth it. Very large store. Easy access from main street. Handy parking even though Wednesday Market occupied much space. Lovely place to shop. WHSmith had both birding magazines; what's not to like?

Lovely shop, great cafe (love the prawn sandwiches). Great selection of good quality items, including clothes just like department stores used to be. The slightly out of town Barker's furniture store is worth a visit if you want a new sofa or other bits for the house, good cafe there too.

I can only praise all of the staff in Barkers , they are always so welcoming and pleasant as well as helpful if you require any information on a product , they go beyond what you would normally expect . We received our new furniture yesterday and even down to the delivery team the service is outstanding , Thank you to everyone . We Love shopping at both Barkers home And Barkers Northallerton and can’t wait till our next visit , highly recommend both of the cafes and restaurants too . Carole and Brian Straughan

Decided to try the bistro for breakfast instead of going into the main restaurant.What a lovely experience,so relaxing,slightly more expensive but well worth it. Could not fault the breakfast or the staff .

One of the few department stores still left. Has a lovely restaurant and cafe and the service of all the staff is what you would expect of a high end store. Obviously not a cheap store as it sells designer wear and accessories, but the sales are often very good. Lovely department for cookware, glasses, crockery etc. too. I travel more than 25 miles to shop here.

Had lunch here.. service poor. Drinks served after food had arrived and they didn't bring hot water which was requested. Staff miserable.. need more training.. 😫
