Thyme Restaurant Premier Inn Thirsk in Hambleton

We had a great stay here, just one night but we took advantage of the meal deal for dinner and breakfast, it was superb value. The hotel was clean and comfortable, just a few minutes from the motorway and the staff were lovely. Definitely recommend this place, we'll use it again when we're in the area.

We were a bit wary after reading previous reviews, but our fears were unfounded. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was good value for the price (4 x meal deals). Shame about the feral children at breakfast but that's down to bad parenting.

Nice stay. Had trouble streaming mobile phone to TV, it did work eventually. I would like to see Netflix YouTube etc available nowadays. Room a tad too warm, cannot opening the window and no air con. Staff lovely. Great breakfast.

It's all about the beds. A good night sleep and back on the road.

We stayed here recently and as always the rooms were spotless, the bed was very comfortable and the place was quiet all night. The staff were excellent and very friendly, a little disappointed that there is not a bar here, so can't get draught beers and not ideal to sit and have a few extra drinks, although we did linger with a glass of wine. We were looking at booking again in August but looking on the website I noticed that the free parking we enjoyed will be no more from 19th July as the car park will now be managed by an outside company called YourParkingSpace and they'll charge £8 per 24 hours. Very disappointing, I will be staying elsewhere this time.

Lovely hotel to stop at travelling down the motorway. Rooms were fresh with perfect ambient lighting for comfort. Stopped by the restaurant for dinner and it was nice enough, staff are lovely.

Fantastic stay, excellent staff members, it’s a very smooth operation throughout, as always great breakfast.

Very handy location, great breakfast choices, lovely staff, nice restaurant or there are plenty of takeaway options within a short distance of the hotel and an Aldi directly opposite the entrance. Premier inn never lets me down when working away.

Nice and clean great room bed is large but slightly uncomfortable TV and WiFi, Breakfast is good,bacon could do with being cooked longer as I like crispy bacon the evening meals are nice but basic fayre

The hotel is fairly new, the staff on the whole were friendly and helpful. The hotel is quite a way from town and there's nothing nearby apart from an Aldi. Most Premier Inn hotels I've stopped at in the past have a a proper restaurant attached like a brewers fair. However, this hotel had an odd little restaurant, no proper bar area, and it was open plan, opening into the reception and front door area. The food on the whole was really substandard. We arrived last Monday, 25/7 and was looking forward to eating after having looked at the range of food. I asked for a steak to be told they didn't have any..... Not a good start, so opted for the katsu curry. This was in fact the best meal of the week!! We didn't eat there on Tuesday. Wednesday my daughter had chicken wings in a bbq sauce which was Stone cold in the middle and had to be returned. She then had a cheeseburger which was absolutely dripping in grease. The plate was covered in it. Very unappetising so that was returned. I asked for houmous for my starter to be told they didn't have any, so ended up with chicken gourjons. I managed to get my steak finally, a sirloin as they still didn't have any ribeye. It was cooked OK, I asked for blue cheese sauce, my favourite, it came in a lovely small pour jug. It was Stone cold, tasted horrid, I asked why it was cold as never had cold gloopy blue cheese sauce, to be told that's how it comes. So that didn't get eaten. Finally our last meal was Thurs night, I asked for King prawn linguine. It came out with 3 prawns on the top, and they were totally overcooked so much so I struggled to chew them. Why didn't we eat elsewhere I hear you ask? Well our car broke down and was in pieces in a garage in Thirsk. So we we're literally stranded there for 2 days before we could get a hire car. The food on the whole was a bit of a let down. I wouldn't recommend eating there. I appreciate most of it is precooked and just warned through but they even got that wrong. The chefs were quite young in age, in fact most of the staff I came across were under the age of 35. I'm not sure how much training the chefs had but I really wasn't impressed. I certainly won't be visiting this hotel again.

Help. send in Gordon Ramsey. very long wait for few customers. One gave up and was seen returning to the hotel with a sarnie from Aldi.

We didn't expect fine dining and our expectations were met. Adequate for the purpose that it was designed. No complaints. The bright point was our waitress, Olivia. Cheerful, warm, helpful. Well done.

Brocolli soup was a bit watery. We then waited for over an hour for our main meals, which were OK. It seemed as if a lot of diners were being served at the same time after a long wait. We’ll be staying here for 3 nights but we’ll be eating out tomorrow and the day after.

Tasty and presented with care , we definitely eat here again on our future travels between Kent and Scotland

Very helpful staff. Our room was a good size, clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking. It's about 20mins walk into the town and there's an Aldi store just across the road.

Most of breakfast food was cold black pudding swimming in grease bacon dry beans like warm eggs snotty or hard yoke best thing of all breakfast was the sausage only thing hot on plate I was very disappointed but so hungry I ate it but wouldn't recommend it at all

Lovely stay, plenty of parking at back and couple of minutes drive to Thirsk village.

Rooms are clean, tidy with a modern feel and staff are welcoming. Haven’t had the food in the restaurant, however went in there for an evening drink and felt the prices were expensive for what they were. Over £4 for a 330ml bottle of beer I felt was a bit steep.

Restaurant is hit and miss. Inexperienced staff. Not told that they had run out of pineapple when I ordered the gammon meal. No drinks menu to check range and prices. They still advertise a hawaiian burger which also contains pineapple Hotel is directly opposite an Aldi which no doubt sells loads of tinned pineapple One day it was a " no bananas" on breakfast choice, next day no yoghurt.

Brilliant as usual ,all you would from a premier Inn .

Excellent hotel, very comfortable, clean very good beds, restaurant on site good staff.

Clean, staff are really friendly and good. Nothing too much trouble. Good but basic 'pub grub' type restaurant. About a mile walk from town centre, so good location. Ample parking. Can't think of a negative. 2nd stay not as good. Paid for evening meal in advance only to be told on arrival no food until half 8 (after 7 hour drive). Had a real early start next day due to a funeral so wasn't able to eat. Gut on check in desk didn't even apologize. Why not contact us to advise in advance? Why bother with the advanced booking if you still can't manage even when you know dining numbers.... Really poor.

Checked in a little while ago and the twice we have spoken to the receptionist she has been as miserable as sin.Jody you want to take a happy pill and smile now and again. I have stayed at lots of premier inn hotels and this reception is by far the worst .

Slow slow slow...words cannot explain how slow the service is in this restaurant...I stay in premier inn hotels every week and have never experienced slow service like this inane other restaurant....2 team members trying to serve a full restaurant ...numerous wrong orders being delivered to customers without any apology....it took 30 minutes for a dessert to arrive ...its obvious that no one is taking on board any of the feedback which is being offered from patrons of the hotel ...sort this out guys

Stayed 1 night and would definitely stay again. Check in and access to the room was smooth and easy. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious. A lovely quiet location, so perfect for a restful night.

Lost a star due to the "free" WiFi, it is God awful, buffering on a 360p YouTube vid.

Great base for Thirsk Centre, staff are fantastic, food is fantastic and rooms comfortable and clean.

We only had breakfast and a light option from the room service menu the previous evening. Both were very good with plenty of options for my gluten-intolerant partner.

Clean, attentive staff, good location.

Average but not the best. Breakfast £10.50 each. Admittedly as much as you can eat but honestly how much can you eat? Therefore went to local Wetherspoons where two breakfasts plus hot drinks cost less than one breakfast here.

Just ate in this restaurant really poor service, long waiting time food luke warm,had to send my meal back! But to top it all the chef kept licking his fingers when arranging food on the plate, Not Staying For Breakfast

Hotel really clean and new, don't eat in the thyme restaurant if possible no proper bar, food and service horrible. Get your order wrong and dirty wine glasses.

Room was great, not overly impressed with the food we had there unfortunately, my wife had chicken and was under cooked and a little sloppy, I had chilli con carne which went down ok but next day I was visiting the toilet a little too often

Quiet, clean and best of all a good night's sleep.

Ideal location for my expedition to the North Yorkshire Moors but the inn's air con blew out freezing air and couldn't be repaired for the four days I was there . The TV had to be continually retuned.. a much spoiled experience when I am used to a more excellent bstay

Last minute booking after traveling down from Aberdeen, was able to book a room, staff very polite. One member of staff came in to help due to short staff. But really good service

A friendly welcome, clean room and a good night's sleep. Located within walking distance from Thirsk. Breakfast was a great start to the day. Enjoyed the experience and rest.

Always loved a Premier Inn. This time however, not so great. The bed wasn't up to usual standards. Mattress made my back hurt, pillows were rubbish and the duvet was so heavy it was annoyingly uncomfortable. Everything else was grand, the cleanliness, the staff and the breakfast.

As you would expect from premier Inn good accommodation and good food. Enjoyed our stay after a long day of driving

Hotel was fine, restaurant was a shambles though.... No coordination and a seemingly lack of leadership from anyone. The staff just looked lost, I lost count of how many orders they took to the wrong table, actually tell a lie it was 6 times but I suspect a lot more that I didn't see

Pleased to write this one, we booked this Premier Inn very late on the day we stopped over. The staff were very helpful, nothing was to much trouble. We were allocated a great room. Thank you team Thirsk..

Eat elsewhere very poor menu , was told by the waitress a full menu was on for evening meal this is why we decided to stay in the hotel . Very limited menu with things not available when ordering , long wait for food only to arrive looking like a 5 year old had just dumped it on the plate . Burger bun was hard served with about 12 skinny chips. Breakfast was worse hardly any food available on the hot counter had to wait didn't dare ask the chef for more bacon would of took ten mins to find the fridge very slow . Not sure where they found this chef from but seriously he is letting the restaurant down .

Been up visiting family and decided to stay at the Premier Inn. What a fantastic stay. Beautiful, clean rooms and nothing too much trouble for the friendly housekeeping staff, reception and manager. Would highly recommend a stay here.

My husband and I booked to go here for a couple of nights break. It wasn't really the hotels fault and the staff were very nice but there was no TV in room due to a main mast being wiped out by a fire ? Again not the staffs fault but it would have been nice to have been informed when we booked ( as apparently it had been out of service for months ) I know it may sound a bit sad but we just wanted to explore the area in the day and chill in our room at night and watch a film or anything and relax. The restaurant was limited on food and the gentleman basically told us not to bother as most things would be microwaved and there was limited staff to cook it. I know usually these places are stop overs for ppl travelling and it was our fault really for expecting more but having stayed in many Premier inns in the past you kind of know what to expect but this one didn't deliver what we wanted unfortunately at this time. No blame to the staff just a poor experience for us. We only stayed one night and then came home to our own TV and I cooked our dinner... haha the small things eh !

Great place to stay if you're visiting the surrounding area. Rooms are clean and as you'd expect a Premier to be. I would suggest anyone wanting an evening meal to make a reservation when you book your room, likewise breakfast. Don't just think you can get in when you arrive, they get get booked up pretty quickly and it isn't a very big restaurant. For breakfast it gets v.busy around 8:30 - 9. The staff are all brilliant and will help you with any problems you may have.

Unfortunately very noisy bed. Nobody followed covid rules in the restaurant. TV didn't work our room but did in restaurant.

A modern, very clean hotel on the edge of Thirsk. Would have been 5* but for the 15 minute stroll into the old market Square.

Massively let down at the restaurant, despite an email and a phone call to enquire on gluten free we arrived late on a Sunday to be told they couldn't do gluten free! So where are we supposed to eat now after driving 40 plus miles. Very unhelpful

As you'd expect from Premier Inn, great for the overnight stay at a great cost.

Well run hotel. Sadly affected by brexit: beer supply food supply and waiting for parts to fix lift.

A fairly new hotel and everything still looks a feels good. The staff are very polite and helpful. They are right on top of Covid and a credit to the industry. This was a new stay for us but always use them up and down the country

Been before and rooms are clean and comfy. We had no TV this time due to an ariel catching fire! Not staff's fault. The restaurant was also on limited menu due to staff shortages. We preferred to eat in Thirsk.

Absolutely beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. It is so well looked after. With it being new it is very modern. There is an Aldi straight opposite if you need anything. We stayed for 2 nights and had great sleeps both nights. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was lovely. Our favourite Premier Inn is and has always been Huddersfield North. We stay in a lot of Premier inns. But Thirsk is now up there with the Huddersfield one and we are already talking about visiting again. X

Children were thrilled with their "night before a house move" hotel stay. No problems getting them to go to bed!!

Don't recommend this hotel as the windows can't be opened - a major design fault during this Covid pandemic!!!

Nice and clean, friendly service and excellent breakfast. The only downside was the very reduced menu in the evening. There were just a few microwaved meals available.... nothing freshly cooked - not even chips! It was a bit of a disappointment after a late check in especially as the hotel was too far out of town to be able to just pop out to get something to eat. Shame really.

Rooms good quality. Staff friendly and helpful. Wifi rubbish unless you pay extra. Menu was limited during our stay due to supply issues but what we had was good.

Room was nice and clean but food in the restaurant was abysmal. Absolutely dreadful, pir piri chicken looked like cat sick, the worst meal I have ever had in my life. Asked for ice-cream for dessert to be told that they had none, so ordered chocolate brownie and low and behold it came with ice-cream. Bar staff had never heard of lager and lime, don't know if that is a regional thing

We couldn't fault our stay at this hotel. Our rooms were ready earlier than expected, the staff were most welcoming and our room was spotlessly clean. Excellent parking area, very comfortable beds and a lovely breakfast. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Would thoroughly recommend this Premier Inn and would definitely stay there again.

Easily accessible and staff are great which is why we gave 5 stars. But housekeepers need to check the showers as the pink stuff in the grout is body fat. Needs to be cleaned better for a new hotel.

We have just returned from a short break here and loved the location and free parking. The hotel is a 5 min drive from the centre of Thirsk which has some good places to eat- I'd recommend Italian retaurant Bianco and the fish and chip restaurant White Horse Cafe. The hotel provided a list of local restaurants too. This is an ideal location to explore North Yorkshire.

Good quality Premier Inn, friendly staff. Experienced a fire alarm when there at 2.30am disappointed by the evacuation process and control the night staff had over guests, more training required. Restaurant has very limited food options and I'd suggest eating in Thirsk (this is due to Covid restrictions)

Don’t try to order dinner at 8pm haven’t booked already despite the restaurant being nearly empty I was refused and offered a takeaway that I would need to collect from The bar area at 9pm! customer service in these difficult times sadly lacking!

Staff were friendly and beds were great. Rooms were just too warm to sleep comfortably. Aircon only goes down to 19 Centigrade, which is just too warm through the night.

We had an accessible room which was good. The downside was it was close to reception so we could hear them cleaning reception between about 3 and 4.30 am. Its not their fault, covid is making things difficult

It was a nice clean friendly hotel. Shame the surrounding area is such a mess.

New hotel very spacious and clean just outside main town. Make sure book breakfast slot on booking rooms as all was available when arrived was 7am slot on a Sunday so went to spoons in the town.

Not the best experience. Some lad was playing football in his room above us. Had to phone reception to sort it out, which he did at 11.00PM. Was offered another room at 10.30! What!, we were in bed (in a disabled room) What about sorting out the football fanatic upstairs?

This is usually my go to hotel when visiting the area and has been for the last 5 years. I would state that although it’s the ‘new style’ the hotel opened in 2016. My visit this time was a really bad experience. My room, 112, had a very strong damp mould smell that seemed to be coming from the bathroom. I would have asked for a room change but had to jump on a conference call immediately and then head out. Overnight my asthma was triggered and I struggled which I can only put down to the damp issue. But my real disappointment was breakfast, I booked a table for 07:15 and arrived on time. I was sat and ordered coffee and pastries, not been sure on what I fancied I thought I’ll finish my pastry and then see how I feel. I was asked 7-8 minutes later if I had decided which I replied not quite yet, the response I got was verbatim ‘well do you know what time you will be ready’. I did retort back that I didn’t know there were a time restriction on breakfast. To which I got back we’ve got lots of guest coming for breakfast and will need the table. I had been sat down less then 10 minutes and the attitude I thought was appalling. The restaurant was pretty empty and I didn’t quite understand the urgency. I was then not approached again, I gave up after waiting 20 minutes as I had to be on the road. I do feel the manager was being pedantic after our conversation and made the point. So I’m essence I made for a full breakfast for a coffee and pastry, I should of gone to Starbucks.
