We stumbled across the Wheatsheaf back in July while staying down the road. We popped in for drinks (lovely cask beers and a quality wine selection) and ended up having Sunday roast. Wow! Lamb was perfect and the cauliflower cheese is a must. Proper gravy too and very generous portion! We loved it so much that we came back a few days later for curry night and to watch England in the Euros! Again, generous portions and really fresh flavours. Made to feel really welcome and given one of the best spots to watch the game. While there are a couple of screens showing live sport, it's easy to avoid as the restaurant area is quite large. Can easily have a quieter spot with no TV distractions if preferred! Very dog friendly, treats available at the bar, nice doggy friendly garden! We loved the place so much that we decided we must stay for a few nights to experience the B&B. So glad we did! Gorgeous room. Light and airy, period features, comfortable bed and a really stunning bathroom. The shower is superb. Breakfast was spot on, nothing was too much trouble, whether it was a full English, an omelette, eggs benedict and so on... also lots of fresh bread, croissants, fruit, fruit juice and so on. Also, the coffee is delicious! Linda and Peter were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed for 3 nights and would've liked to stay longer. Friendly, welcoming, homely, lovely food, live music on the Friday night - just the perfect spot for a long weekend away. We will be back! Thank you, Victoria, Rob & Lady!

We (family of five) enjoyed a delicious meal here this evening. We were advised on arrival that there were one or two large tables ahead of us so there might be a delay but our drinks arrived promptly and I didn't find the wait for our meals to be any longer than I would expect for freshly cooked food. My husband had the fish and asked for some curry sauce to accompany it. The sauce looked homemade and was apparently very tasty as it disappeared quickly long with the rest of the plateful, despite being a generous portion! My two youngest sons ate from the children's menu and were very happy with their sausages and pizza. My older son and I tried the burgers, mine a beef burger and his a chicken burger, both accompanied by a hearty helping of delicious coleslaw and chips. I wasn't sure I could fit any more in but when we were asked about dessert and saw the menu, we couldn't resist. Everyone was very happy with their selection and although they were a little more than I would usually expect to pay, (£8 each), we certainly got our money's worth. Mynhusband was particularly impressed with his sizable slab of bread and butter pudding, and my older son's apple and blackberry crumble almost defeated him! Service was friendly and efficient. It's probably a good job we are here on holiday and don't live nearby or we would be seriously out of pocket coming here all the time!

We all independently chose the smoked salmon baguette-lots of salmon, beautifully fresh bread, accompanied by a big pile of crisps and coleslaw. Too much for some of our group, doggie bags needed for a further meal! Very friendly staff member (on her first day!), a great lunch.

We came across this lovely pub when we were hungry! Had a wonderful roast beef, not the cheapest, but was the best roast I had eaten for a long time. My husband even managed a dessert. A really lovely glass of pinot too, I should have asked what it was. The staff were friendly and chatty, the sun was out so we ate in the garden, what more could you want on a Sunday afternoon. Thank you

This review is based on a lunch and a drink, The welcome very friendly and accommodating, we chose soupenof the day, tomato and basil with a side on chips and the Salmon and cream cheese baguette which came with coleslaw and crisps, I have to say the presentation of the baguette was outstanding and the flavour was the same, the soupe was hot and not too basil heavy, the chips were nice a crisp. All this with a pint of IPA and glass of wine came to £39.15.. Good value for money thankyou

Utterly delicious! I had the best fish I’ve ever had which was very surprising as it was in their catch of the day burger. It was such a generous portion that I could barely finish it all. My husband is GF too and the kind owner who served us told us her husband was gluten free so they try to provide everything with a GF option which is rare! This made for a very relaxing dining experience! The kids meals were also free (I think because it’s half term) but were very generous portions as well and the sausages were homemade and absolutely delicious as well. I wish we’d have had space for pudding because the options looked like the perfect accompaniment to some unique and wonderful quality pub grub! I wish we were local enough to come and try the whole menu!

We took our Dutch family here for Sunday lunch today as we wanted a traditional Roast dinner in a traditional English pub. We were delighted with our meal, it was absolutely delicious in every way. The pub itself is charming as were the staff. Having lived in the area for 2 years we’ve tried a few of the local pubs for Sunday lunches and this gem is by far our best experience. Highly recommended!

Seen trip advisor recommended so gave it a try. Visit was a Friday night which had entertainment. The guitarist was amusing and played brilliant blues. The music did not spoil the meal. The menu was basic, but don't let that deter you. The home cooked curry was lovely with large chicken pieces. The steak pie was brilliant - chunky steak and rich gravy with fresh veg. Wish I'd had mash instead of chips. Thoroughly enjoyed the pastry too. Staff lovely. Well worth the drive - definitely recommend.

My only comment would be to have the fire in the dining area lit for that real cosy pub feeling.

We have now stayed here on two occasions and are very impressed with the accommodation and the welcoming staff. Our room was quite large but it stayed warm despite the time of year. Everything was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was cooked to order and was very tasty. We ate twice at the hotel during our four night stay and were impressed with the quality of the food. There were few people in the pub when we were eating which took away some of the atmosphere that there might have been but there was a roaring fire to keep us company. Our only complaint was the cost of a glass of wine: that did not compare favourably with other pubs and restaurants that we visited in the locality.

Booked the Wheatsheaf for Sunday Lunch to give it a try as we'd never been before. Atmosphere was typically "pub" which was nice. We ordered Traditional Sunday Lunches - one Beef & one Lamb. The Beef was good but the Lamb was well overcooked. The worst part was the roast potatoes and the poor selection of vegetables - cabbage and carrots. I don't know when they had been cooked but the potatoes and carrots were dried out and had a skin, typical of being sitting under a hot lamp. For £21 and £19 for a main course, I would have expected something better.

Had a wonder meal here, even Impressed the exceptionally fussy father in law! Food was beautiful, portion size defeated most of us, and clearly all homemade. Reasonably priced for the quality, and the service was really lovely and friendly. Will definitely return.

Had the most amazing steak that I’ve had in a long time. Not a lot on the menu appealed to me and there were no specials that day but will return for the steak alone if the one I had is anything to go by!

A lovely friendly pub with good food and helpful staff that nothing was to much trouble and helpful with disabled parents needs.

A quaint pub without pretentiousness with good sized beer garden. Probably lacks some atmosphere, in a lockdown setting, but quite buzzy. Service was friendly. Ribs were generous and tasty. Steak was supposed to be medium, but was overdone. Menu was pared down, but it was ordinary pub grub in good sized portions, and was just not enough to inspire a return visit for food other than sandwiches.

Two of us went for Sunday roast at 6.15pm,which can sometimes in other establishments be a hit and miss time, being later in the day.Not so at the Wheatsheaf, the Roast Beef was faultless and everything was piping hot.....also very important. The service was first rate too, really helpful and welcoming.Dessert (Chocolate Orange Dessert) was delicious too.....and good size portions.Would definitely recommend, and we will return.

We really like the food here, we travel up to Norfolk every few months and since first finding this gem of a place, we come back quite frequently. The food here is constantly good & service is also great. Fully covid secure but my one complaint (only now that it’s winter) as it’s a one way system you have to walk along the road to get back into the car park. In the summer this was not an issue but it’s very dark so some lighting would be benificial or some better signs on how to get back to the car park, if there’s an alternative route.

Our doggy was with us and she was really welcomed at the Wheatsheaf and even offered her own water if needed . We had burger, scampi and halloumi burger for our dinners and dessert was an ice cream with espresso, pistachios and amaretto. The food was amazing, atmosphere was lovely and the staff were friendly and attentive too . We will be returning in the future . Well done Wheatsheaf and thank you for such a lovely evening xxx

Ate here after finding out they did Sunday roast late into the evening. The pub is following Covid restrictions an was very busy but we managed to get a table and the food when it came was plentiful and delicious.

After reading the positive reviews on TA, we contacted the Wheatsheaf to book to stay there. We emailed and spoke with Linda, the owner who was most helpful and arranged our 2 nights stay most efficiently. We stayed in the Crimson room situated on first floor with a side window view overlooking the front of the pub and partial garden. The room is spacious with just the right amount of furniture. There is a kettle and a tray of tea, coffee and hot chocolate refreshment and complimentary cookies!.The room and bathroom are kept clean. Due to Covid19, there is no room service, however, they replenish the toiletries and refreshment tray. We dined in at the pub restaurant on our first night, and we were looked after by the 2 staff very well. So glad there was curry on the special board that evening as we chose chicken madras which came out of the kitchen piping hot and spicy served with rice and mango chutney - delicious. We also had the antipasti platter which was amazing, so much choice of cured meat, cheese and chutneys. After the two main courses, we were stuffed, and could not manage any dessert. We did have a double JD and a liqueur coffee. Breakfast is served between 08.30 a.m. and 09.30 a.m. and Linda keeps everyone happy and well fed. She came round with a trolley with a selection of cereals, yoghurts and juices and cooked breakfast is ordered off the menu. Tea, coffee, toasts and jams are provided too. We both had the full English breakfast during our stay and they were plentiful and yummy. Something to look forward in the mornings! All in all, we have enjoyed our staff at the Wheatsheaf and Linda and her team ensured that every guest is well taken good care of and the service is excellent. We could not have stayed in a better place during our visit to North Norfolk and the Wheatsheaf is ideally located in a charming village, within easy travelling distances to Sheringham, Cromer and Blakeney. We highly recommend the Wheatsheaf for a stay over, food and drinks, all in one place. The Wise-Ones24th October 2020

I organised an evening meal for my father in law melvyns 82nd birthday , on wednesday 21 october 2020, at the west beckham wheatsheaf , as it has been a much liked venue in the past, and were not disappointed . The pub under new management were very welcoming and the food was excellant , my wife is a vegan , and often gets overlooked , however her tuscan bean soup and focaccia bread was delicious . The owners /staff were very friendly , and we felt very secure despite the current covid situation in the country, can highly reccomend , thank you , Richard .

Second visit, very good staff, room was clean and comfortable and only £32 , buffet breakfast £8 ( thru Expedia), right on the sea front, yards from the promenade. Car park is at the rear of the building, £6 per 24 hours.

I've just had a cod special here, you get a lovely size piece of cod, chips and mushy peas or curry sauce for £6.60/70 I think it was. It was the most delicious piece of fish I've had for a long time, the batter was light and crispy, the fish skinless and so tasty, the chips were delicious too, curry sauce great too. Everything piping hot and presented in a box so easy to eat in the car. The service was fast and very friendly people. I'll be back for more. 😊

Clean and tidy, staff very helpful and friendly, with a wide range of drinks, both beers and wines as well as spirits. Food portions were good, and it was hot and freshly cooked. Will be going again.

A stunning place in a stunning location, let down by mis management, no food available on the menu, which I read is the norm. Not satisfactory as we were residents who didn't want to travel outside of the pub. 30 seconds walk to roys, which was ideal on a shopping trip. But the food when it did arrive was tepid! And not very enjoyable...but the icing on the cake was when we sat there for three hours and witnessed the young barman who truly did not smile once...not a welcoming sight for customers!
