After a long day spent moving homes managed to get a very late supper here with just minutes to spare. Despite our late arrival we were made to feel welcomed - the staff were all friendly helpful and efficient. Meal choices and drinks quickly ordered and we sat back to enjoy a well earned drink. Our meals arrived very quickly all very fresh and quite delicious. My liver was beautifully and perfectly cooked. Hubby has fish and chips again freshly with ‘home made’ chips. We were offered desserts but reluctantly declined opting instead for coffees. A lovely way to finished a long day. Would recommend and hope to return again soon.

My wife and I own a number of pubs in the Harrow area. Looking to add another one to our portfolio, but in the countryside, and having been advised by a brewery rep that this pub was for sale, we chose to make a “ secret squirrel “ visit to check it out. The parking in the village was impossible, so we were pleased to see two cars finally leave the pubs own car park. Before we could reverse back up the high street a grey Land Rover beat us to it , but took up both parking places. I politely spoke to the owner of the Land Rover as to why he occupied both spaces. His reply was an unintelligible mumbled grunt, so I continued to back out of the car park into the High Street where we waited for a space to become free several hundred of yards away. As we then walked to the pub we saw that the Land Roger driver was waiting for us. We went in through the front door, he went into the side entrance. My wife and I then considered what to drink, only to find that the man took up position behind the bar. He then loudly accused us of being rude to him and became aggressive and evil tempered. He told his staff to not serve us and an argument then ensued. He ejected my wife and I from the pub. It is surprise that this landlord needs to sell his pub ; needless to say, my wife and I won’t be buying it !

I've frequented this fine establishment for over 25 years now, and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and people each time. The current owners and staff are absolutely brilliant, as is the food and liquid refreshment choices. Heck, if you want it, they'll brew a cup of tea for you! No loud music, no noisy fruit machines, just a great atmosphere. The walled patio area out the front is a real sun trap, and the garden out back is family friendly. Our well behaved canine friends are generally welcome too. Friday evenings are the busiest. If you're looking for a Sunday lunch, best phone earlier in the week, as they fill up fast! Note that Mondays it is closed. Well, they have to have a day off too, and deservedly so!

Went here for lunch, as it had been recommended. Service was very slow, and when our meals arrived they looked fine. We had both ordered bacon and cheese burgers. Area. Neither burger was fully cooked and was very pink except for a very thin outer brown. To be fair we were not charged for either meal and only paid for our drinks, but I don't think we shall be visiting again.

After a long walk at Stowe gardens we were looking for lunch and happened upon this lovely old country pub with minutes to spare before last orders for food! Jo put us at our ease, recommended the pies and poured us two pints of a guest dark mild called Ghost train. Seated at our table, we took in the low beams and cosy nooks in the room, while receiving a warm welcome from the regulars. The beer was delicious, and the pies (one steak, and one lamb, red wine and mint) were to die for! Shaped like pork pies, homemade pastry crammed with meat and delicious gravy, and served with chips and cabbage, with a full gravy boat on the side.

Hadn't been this way in around 20 years and fancied a look. My word! The beer choice was superb and the lunch just perfect. The landlady - I think that's who she was - was welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We had classics and they were cooked superbly - nothing poncy, much relief - just good homecooked food. The sausages were amazing (and I make sausages for a living so am hard to please) and the steak burger was a stunner! Simply made with a good thick slice of bacon and cheese on top with a lovely red cabbage slaw. Top job guys and see you soon. Oh and by the way this pub is just the sweetest wee place ever - a smashing building.

Went for a Sunday lunch with my family and was pleasantly surprised by the look and feel of this pub. The Sunday roast menu was very limited - beef or pork. We asked for the beef and for it to be on the medium to well done side. The food arrived very fast, but it has to be the most flavourless roast dinner I have ever had! The vegetables were completely bland and tasteless, roast potatoes pale and woolly and the beef was rare, in spite of our request. The portions were generous, but quite frankly I didn't want to eat it all and that's very rare for me! The price was average for a pub but all in all very disappointing. Most pubs do a good job of Sunday roasts and you can't usually go too far wrong, but we won't be coming here again.

The Wheatsheaf has been open since the 1700s, and the most recent landlords are giving it a lot of love and attention. They have several independent ales on tap, which is a big plus factor. We've had a vegetarian ploughman in the past which was really nice, but today for lunch we had vegetarian mint and pea soup which was very good and served with chunks of fresh bread. The garden in the back has plenty of space for families to enjoy being together, and they advertise a trivia night on Sundays. Full of real country character.

Lovely pub with a great garden, a large group of us visited on a Saturday evening to celebrate a birthday. Most of us required food but unfortunately were told that most of the food on the menu had run out. The only explanation given was that they only did Roast dinners on Sundays and were only using up what they had got left. We asked for a coffee and was told there would be a fifteen minute wait and quite frankly wondered why we had bothered, as when it arrived it was lukewarm and the milk curdled when added to the drink. On complaining the waitress replied well the milk shouldn't be off but there was no offer of a fresh cup. The food for those who did manage to order some was fairly average and about normal pub price. Sorry but would not use this pub again for food.

Very Poor Sunday lunch would not recommend !!We visited the pub on Sunday at 1.30 , the lunch menu is small, but that’s fine as Sunday lunch is more about roast dinners I guess, we were advised that the soup was already sold out even at 1.30, so we skipped starters. We ordered two roast belly pork from the Sunday lunch menu, it arrived in good time, however from that point it all went wrong .The roast potatoes were uneatable, a chain saw was needed to cut them , they had been cooked in a most unusual way and the skins had formed a hard outer shell sever millimetres thick (maybe baked in the oven and not pre boiled, let get cold and then fried ???), the other diners must also have had the same problem as plates of uneaten spuds everywhere. The vegetable arrived in a small bowl with water in the bottom and the cabbage was cooked to be mushy. Also everything was covered in black pepper ??? . As it was pork , we expected stuffing, None to be found, a little unusual ? Most decent pubs now include Yorkshire pudding with all roasts, however not the Wheatsheaf. The Belly pork was nice, could have been a little more cooked as it was a bit tuff for that cut, the crackling however was spot onThe Apple sauce was out of a jar.No one bothered to ask if we enjoyed the food, in fact we did not see any service, even thought they were not busy , plenty more pubs nearby that offer a great Sunday lunch, Wheatsheaf is to be avoided !!

Having read recent reviews about the friendly staff and noticed on The Wheatsheaf's own website an invitation to contact them regarding allergy advice for their menu, I decided to call them to discuss their ability to cater for my daughter who has food allergies. I couldn't have been more disappointed with the response from the member of staff I spoke to. Not only did he fail to make any effort to understand the nature of the allergies, but he couldn't have been less interested in speaking with me, or trying to provide anything that could be described as customer service. It's disappointing to say the least that this business suggests it's happy to talk with you about these issues, when the reality is somewhat different, let alone their lack of compliance with their duties under the Food Information Regulations. Needless to say we'll be eating elsewhere.

We went to The Wheatsheaf in July, and I just can't stop recommending it. Super friendly staff, amazing place, wonderful garden and delicious, tasty food. We are coming back to the pub in October to celebrate an event with some friends, and I am seriously counting down days.

New management was a surprise as this pub seems to changeover each year. Regardless we've always had good family meals here and have always had a good gluten free selection. On this visit the salads were especially delicious. We will be back and hope the current owners (since Jan 2015) make a good go of it. Keep in mind that reviews before Jan are not necessarily relevant to current owners.

Have always liked to call into The Wheatsheaf when in Buckingham but had not done so recently as things had not been good, thought we would try it again after reading online that it had new owners and was again a great little pub, we were not disappointed has been given a new lease of life, friendly staff and a great lunch the steak I had was just so good. Highly recommended. I read only one recent bad review from a person calling themselves Doll 1965 this review just cannot be genuine from it's wording I can only conclude that this is a deliberate attempt to harm The Wheatsheaf business for reasons that I can only guess at.

We visited a few days ago, hadn't been to eat there for years. Conservatory was a little brighter, and the place looked like it had had a freshen up. Pleasant enough staff. Food was not good. Burnt offerings, poor selection, not home cooked desert - chips with everything. Was really hoping for more, had ear marked for big birthday celebration coming up. Now not going to go ahead. Oh dear what a shame.

Had the freshest whole plaice I had eaten for a long time. Went with a group of 12 and everyone's food looked great. Service was excellent, prompt, professional and friendly. And it was all lovely and clean which given that it is an old thatched building with lots of nooks and crannies, was a miracle. It had been a favourite local pub for several of us 'in the old days' and everyone was delighted to see it back in great form under its new management. Busy too so do book!

Praise be as the Maids Moreton Leisure Centre is back on track after the somewhat underwhelming efforts of the previous inmates. Have so far only eaten there once but I have it on good authority that all is well on that front ; the beer is excellent and changes rapidly for those with a desire to try many different brews ( I must admit I stick to my favourite siddypockay ) and it's so nice to see happy , smiling faces behind the bar. Just one word of caution - be careful to get the landladies name right as otherwise it can cause some confusion ( doesn't it Susan ?)

We went there for an evening meal and every thing was fine .The only down side was the meat pie. A small jug of gravy on the side would have bumped up the score.

Have been to this pub on occassions over the years but tried for the first time today with new owners. Sunday lunch was very good but perhaps too ample for us as we could only manage the two courses. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. Good choice of beers. We will return.

I was delighted to discover the Wheatsheaf has re-opened as I used to go there quite often. So I took my boyfriend there for his Birthday lunch and was delighted to discover that the lunch was utterly yummy. My fishcake starter was wonderful, he had the steak pie which I liked, too, and my chicken liver salad was unbelievably good. It was great to see it open again and the guys were most charming, will certainly go back there as it's also not far to walk to. Great pub, glad it's back open.

I too am a local and tend to drink here more often than I eat. However I was treated to a wonderful Sunday roast recently (booking essential) and can also recommend the weekday menu. At the moment it's not extensive but everything on it is proper, home cooked food with meat from the local butcher. The owners, Brad and Jo, have exciting plans for the future, too. I'm an ale drinker and there are always at least 4 ales available, a couple of regulars and a couple of interesting guest ales too. Trouble is, they sell so quickly that often they've changed by the next time you go in. At least that ensures the beer is always fresh!Children and (well behaved) dogs are welcomed and if you go on your own there is always someone willing to have a chat. Oh, there's also free wifi so your teenagers can keep snapchatting, or whatever. All in all a lovely atmosphere.

We went for dinner here wanting to try somewhere new. The place was packed and the service was still brilliant very friendly and helpful. We had a starter and main course, portions were a good size so much so with our health appetites we had to pass on pudding but we did get a look and they looked as good ad the first two courses. The quality of the food was really good obviously fresh and cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back.

This is our 'local'; but as stated by previous reviews, had found visiting an unpleasant experience under the last couple of management teams. The new team were welcoming, the food (home made burgers) were spot on. It's not trying to be anything other than a good village pub.

Like other reviewers, we visited The Wheatsheaf under previous management and didn't really enjoy it. The owners were, well, odd! Now the pub has a new team, who are warm, welcoming and friendly. In addition they are dog friendly, having their own, so our Max was very welcomed, we were even encouraged to eat in the pub rather than in the garden as the weather was a little chilly. The menu is short but varied and the food is very tasty. We recommend you visit, and enjoy the food alongside the company. We will definitely be returning!

Popped in with a few friends and was instantly greeted with the warmth of this wonderful old pub. The real ale was fantastic, the person in charge of the cellar definitely knew what they were doing. For our meal, I had the steak pie, it was perfect, and not mass produced or from one of the wholesalers. Home made from raw ingredients. Just about fitted a pudding in, as the portions were extremely generous, and not at a high price either. Nevertheless the quality was outstanding. I look forward to visiting The Wheatsheaf again soon.

Popped in on a journey home and was curious following news that it was often fully booked. No problems being served on a Thursday lunch time. We had real pub grub in delightful surroundings. My liver and bacon was perfectly cooked and seasoned, my husbands pie was a delight. We have visited this pub under previous menagements but it was a pleasure to see the interior so cleanly and freshly presented, no wonder booking ahead is sound advice!

Four of us had lunch today at the Wheatsheaf after friends said the place has been given a new lease of life since it changed hands earlier this year. They were right: we all enjoyed our meals very much: they were tasty, the stilton and steak pie was particularly praised as was the liver dish. We all then managed a dessert: all were excellent and served with a choice of cream, custard or icecream. The pub's interior is very cosy in winter: open fires, low headroom and beams aplenty. We ate in the dining extension which is light and airy, overlooking the garden at the rear. If you want a good pub meal in pleasant surroundings at sensible prices then try the Wheatsheaf: it's the best for miles around.
