We recently organised a company event over two days at the Wheatly Arms. We were really impressed with the level of service we received, from the initial booking of the venue to the helpful service over the course of two days, ensuring everything ran smoothly. We were also very happy with the choice and standard of food and rooms too. We wouldn’t hesitate to use the hotel again for corporate events and meetings and thank all management and staff for their attentiveness.

Such a welcoming, comfortable hotel. Excellent, peaceful room, delicious food and a comfy bed - what more could you want? Even the dog was well catered for with treats, blanket and a special menu!

My friend and I had a lovely 2 course dinner this evening and the staff were absolutely wonderful, particularly Theo who went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Thanks guys! Will definitely be back again!

The most enjoyable time at the Wheatley this evening, as always Theo (our server) was lovely and so attentive. The manager Andy made sure that the atmosphere was welcoming and fun. The food was lovely would 10/10 recommend when in the ilkley area!! The best pub without fail!!

We stayed for 2 nights with friends over bank holiday., the hotel is due for an upgrade shortly however this not detract from us having a great stay. Good food in restaurant and very good breakfast. Friendly attentive staff and free parking. Perfect location for seeing the Yorkshire Dales and Ilkley which is a great small town.

Comfortable, tastefully furnished hotel and rooms. Available private balconies make it extra special. Super menus at breakfast and dinner. Staff always helpful. Andy, the General.Manager, was very helpful in sorting out the complexities of a voucher scheme we had got, with a highly un-customer friendly website, Buy- a-Gift. Don't! A really good and memorable stay.

Haven’t been for a while as last visit was disappointing but heard there was a new manager so thought we’d give it another go. Didn’t stay so can’t comment on bedrooms but the restaurant needs a make over. Grim carpet and stained upholstery. The carpet in the stair to the toilets is frayed and very dirty. The toilets also need a refurb. Food was ok but pricey. Wine list is expensive.

A fabulous stay for 2 nights. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food coming out of the kitchen- well done to the team in there! 5 minute taxi into Ilkley for more choice if you want, but the Wheatley has a great wine list and possibly the best pint of Dizzy Blonde I’ve ever tasted! Can’t wait to visit again at the end of the year when the big refurbishment is completed! Thanks to Andy and Victor and Lisa for looking after us this weekend!

I can’t fault this wonderful hotel at all , my daughter and myself booked to stop here after a afternoon tea canal trip at skipton for my birthday. All I can say is wow what a truly wonderful hotel in such a quiet peaceful area , was no noise or traffic while we here at all apart from the beautiful sound of the birds singing. Our Room which was number 8 was spacious and bed was massive everything we needed was in the room down to bottles of water and milk in fridge as well as a tray with all that’s needed to enjoy a cuppa in your room biscuits went down a treat thank you , toiletries in bathroom where luxurious and smelt wonderful , the hotel was well looked after and spotless not a sign of dust anywhere. Staff couldn’t do enough for us and as for the Breakfast well it was wonderful was even offered a choice of what eggs did I want so I opted for a poached egg which was cooked to perfection. Was informed that If we came again the hotel would have had a massive makeover which I’m really shocked about because in my eyes the hotel was perfect . Will be intrigued to see how the new decor and makeover will look like but hope it doesn’t loose its old quaint character. Thank you The Wheatley arms for our fabulous stay . Will definitely stop here again if in this area .

Had a lovely meal here and stayed for their Tuesday quiz, which was great fun. The surprise nibbles at half time were excellent. Would recommend.

Hotel & room had lovely decor & felt really clean. Nice touches in the room, milk & water in the fridge. Breakfast was very hot, I hate luke warm food. Gave 5/5 as couldn’t find anything wrong. Will definitely stay again.

Another fab stay at a Robinsons pub, gorgeous room with nice little extras such as milk & water in the fridge. Breakfast was included & this was lovely & hot.

Room was overpriced for what we got and was a little tired in places.

Wonderful hotel to stay in with great location for walking into town. Quiet street and no noise from the pub downstairs. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, from check in, the man that noticed my husband’s empty beer glass to the lovely lady at breakfast. Everyone was so cheerful and happy. The food was delicious every night and the room was comfortable, not quite as luxurious as we thought it would be, but the bed was very comfortable and the shower room was lovely. Didn’t want to leave but will be back again

Well this was a lovely find and not disappointed. Everyone was very friendly, polite and accommodating. Room was a good size with a bath and very clean. The place was easy to find on the sat nav and had a large parking area. Dinner, pudding and breakfast was excellent and can't fault the very busy hardworking staff. Look forward to going again.

Staff, food accommodation amazing....First class.

Went with the family to the Wheatley Arms for Sunday tea a couple of weeks ago and we had a lovely meal. The service was very good and the staff knowledgeable about the food. Good atmosphere. Seen the menu has altered and looking forward to trying the new dishes out!

The Wheatley Arms is a lovely place to stay - our room was comfortable, attractive and well-equipped, and we were so pleased that it was also dog-friendly. Staff were great too. The food was OK pub food, but at both dinner and breakfast items on the menu were unavailable (and we were only told when we tried to order them, rather than being told as we looked at the menu) - it would be better to have a shorter menu of available things.

Have been to the Wheatley many times and always had a good meal and service. However, disappointing average tonight. Booked a table for 4 in advance for a special occasion. However, when seated, only 3 chairs around the table, waiting staff didn’t notice and took ages to sort. Given poorly lit table in a room with large group bookings so very noisy. Most of the menu items were out of stock across all courses so limited choice. Food was good but nothing outstanding in terms of portion size or presentation. Service was average and generally lacked attention to detail. Wasn’t asked if we wanted coffee. Left feeling underwhelmed which was disappointing.

I stayed at the Wheatley Arms while moving house. The inn offered a lovely, peaceful retreat with an excellent breakfast menu.

I hired the function room for my 60th birthday celebration and all my family stayed overnight. The function room is lovely and the buffet food was excellent .it was a great night and the bedrooms were all luxurious and very comfortable. Everyone had a great night at a lovely venue

Can I just day how wonderful this hotel is. We were so looking forward to staying however we set off on Thursday 8th Feb 2024 and when we were 45 mins away at Harrogate we had to turn back due to bad snowy conditions. We had paid for the hotel in advance and even though they weren't obliged to refund us they made a full refund. We look forward to Easter when we can book again and stay. Thankyou

Called in for lunch. Unhelpful staff ! Just said menu is over there , asked about the lunchtime menu. Answer - we aren’t offering it today ! Then they said pie & pint over there ! Not helpful or friendly! We live locally and like to support local businesses but never again ! Had issues before when the tried to over charge us , charging for individual items not as a 2 course lunch deal !

Booked for a triple celebration, birthday, retirement and wedding party, had to rearrange, due unforseen personal circumstances, Victor, the manager, and his staff were all brilliant, buffet was amazing. I had so many compliments from my guests on the food and venue. Will definitely be coming back.

I would 100% recommend The Wheatsheaf Inn Brigsteer as the staff, rooms and welcome was outstanding. The breakfast and evening meal was also to die for. The chef was absolutely amazing, his food/cooking was delicious. I don’t often compliment others but honestly the chef, food was outstanding. Each staff member including the chef went above and beyond to make our two night stay homely and perfect. They also made our dog feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much to ask. I highly recommend this place and I most definitely will be returning soon. Thank you for a great two day break away.

Good food friendly staff lovely surroundings good value for money

The food was delicious. Only gave a four as we didn’t get served drinks very promptly when we arrived, so we went up to the bar ourselves to get drinks despite being seated in the restaurant.

A deceptively spacious pub and restaurant, I chose the Wheatley as the venue for an old friends reunion. Booking was easy, although the requirement to book menu choices in advance required some chasing on my part, and the whole evening went off smoothly. The staff were simply brilliant, striking the right balance between attentiveness and interference, whilst the food offering was likewise superb. We will return.

Wow! I was shocked at how much this place had deteriorated since I was last there! For a Friday night, where it would once have been heaving with people, it was very empty. I had a steak pie, and when I cut into it, the gravy gushed out! There was hardly any steak in the pie! The chips were DIVINE!!! I waited at the bar, possibly 5 or 6 minutes, despite being the ONLY person waiting to be served, while 3 waitresses were having a chat to a guy with a clipboard, that looked like he could be their manager? Another guy behind the bar was counting money, and I was COMPLETELY ignored! When I asked if I could get a drink, the waitress replied, very begrudgingly, that she was 'busy with a customer' !? She did serve me then, but was clearly very irritated by the fact that I'd asked for a drink. The stairs down to the toilet area are DISGUSTINGLY grubby - they are literally black and gritty. Not a great experience service and food wise, but being with a good friend made up for it. I doubt we will go back!! Oh, and the car park had not been gritted - it was very icy and dangerous to walk on! Avoid folks!

Absolutely fantastic place, went for a meal. Staff were so happy to help, nothing was a problem. Food was lovely, great selection of beers, wines and spirits. Will definitely be back, it felt very upmarket with the service but very warm with the ambience and decor.

Stayed with friends for a weekend visit to Ilkley. Hotel was lovely, set in a quiet residential area, it had plenty of of free onsite parking. The public areas had a lovely friendly warm atmosphere. Rooms were very comfortable and well equipped and the breakfasts and evening meal we had were very tasty. Most importantly the staff were all super friendly and happy to help with any query. Would definitely stay again.

We come down to the Wheatley Arms on a regular basis just so we can relax, enjoy the food and the atmosphere

Had two nights here at the end of October in a room right at the top; it was very quiet and by the time we'd checked out we were somewhat fitter. The room was good with lots of attention to detail. Dinner was excellent, and the breakfast menu very good. Only quibble was that on the first morning breakfast service from two gentlemen was somewhat grudging. Not wanting the very substantial full cooked breakfast we asked for 3 or 4 specific items, but were told we should state which items we didn't want - "because that's how the kitchen works". Well maybe they do, but they aren't paying, and frankly I've never heard that anywhere else. The second morning, with a different team on, it was much friendlier. It's a lovely area, but unfortunately the weather wasn't great, so we didn't get the views and walks you might hope for on better days.

I'd been longing for time off and hoping I'd love The Wheatley Arms (you know how it can be touch and go when you just pick a hotel and hope!) and relax and I did: elegant yet homely, tempting food to everyone's taste (omnivore, vegan - everyone catered for), everyone in the team headed by the warm, funny and charming Carol could not do enough for us (plus extras like the caramel wafer in the fridge which greeted us on returning from our days out!) Will be back again and again, thank you so much for such a recuperative and relaxing break - home from home.

We enjoyed a very nice evening meal in celebration of my father's 87th birthday and with family guests from the USA in comfortable surroundings and attended to by the very welcoming and accommodating team. They were very helpful in providing all menus available as we had gluten intolerant and vegan members of our party. The team who looked after us ensured we had a very special evening. Thank you!

Celebrating a birthday with family, two of us had the Wheatley burger which was delicious, one a ham and leek pie and one the sharing board. All the food was fantastic and lovely 5* customer service from Emma. Also... the candles Emma sells in the restaurant area are amazing!

A very nice welcome from the staff - especially the young girls who were great. We were taken to a room by the terrace which was ok but we prefer the main restaurant. It was nicely busy with a number of groups. We would have preferred the roast beef but the waitress checked and it was medium/ rare and we prefer rare. The lion of pork was good ( slightly dry ) and the vegetables, potatoes and Yorkshire pudding very good. We had to ask for the stuffing and apple sauce but the waitress quickly made good. A substantial portion and no need for a dessert. One concern are the steps to the toilets - they are very dirty and the carpet is worn in places. The steps and toilets do need attention.

Called in for a much talked about roast diner between friends, we was not disappointed, the service was excellent received by Amile and Nigel, the beef and pork was delicious served with lashings of gravy. will definitely return and highly recommendable

After lockdown we have made a few visits to the Wheatley, and each time we have been disappointed with something.Food I ordered arrived burnt (dried up fishcake that had been kept warm because it was cooked too early). Beer that is awful (according to my friends).Management that are rude.Incorrect bills.Heaters outside never seem to work.I don't hold out much hope for this pub, especially in these difficult times. Been here a few times since it's reopened - food is always great and service is friendly and quick. Also in a great location just a little ways from Ilkley Moor but out of the way of the busy main town in Ilkley. They've put in a number of COVID measures (e.g. plenty of sanitiser around, disposable menus, screens etc.) so feels clean and safe. It's a big pub so plenty of space between tables but still feels comfortable and cosy. Would definitely visit again!

My friend and I had arranged to have a coffee at The Wheatley and when we asked for a cake or something similar to have with it the staff were quite bemused and even offered us a breakfast! Eventually we were offered croissants, which were served warm and delicious but didn't come with a plate to eat it off. When we apologetically asked for a plate, and more milk to add to the sparse amount already offered, we were met with a less than friendly attitude. The catch up was lovely but the service was indifferent. What is needed at The Wheatley is a really good manager who would keep a watchful eye on his staff and make sure they were constantly offering good service. Otherwise customers will drift away and go elsewhere.

Been a regular here for a while and the rest of the staff are lovely. But to be honest the General Manager is the rudest person in Ben Rhydding. Cannot wait until they leave.

Having been here for meals quite a few times we were looking forward to the usual good food and service , unfortunately this was not the case on Sunday evening .The food was average and service slow and non existent at the end of the evening .A Pate starter turned up without the chutney , trying to get the attention of a waitress was impossible even though the restaurant was practically empty, i eventually had to go to the bar to let them know , we also needed an additional fork and had exactly the same problem . Turn around of the courses was extremely slow . We had to remind the waitress to bring the dessert menus , the coffees arrived before the sweets , the waitress assured us the sweets were on route , they never came ! Eventually i had to explain to the restaurant manager what had been going on , he was totally oblivious to the whole situation, and to be honest not too bothered , we cancelled the Sweets, paid and left . They forgot to charge us for the coffees .Its a shame and not sure what is going on at the place , i do not think you can blame Covid, there seemed to be enough staff on the floor , it just needs someone at the top end to get a grip on things and keep an eye on how things are running . Not planning to rush back !
