We found ourselves available as a family so thought we would try our local club’s facilities. We were welcomed by Jan, who had set out a table and immediately felt relaxed and at home. The food was of a very high standard and presented well. We will be returning with the rest of the family for Sunday lunch and will be making this our go to location. Life is all about the people, so Jan did a lovely job at making us feel welcomed. A quick shout out to our neighbour Lisa, who showed us to our table 👌😁

Held my 60th party here.great service ..polite helpful staff and good food ..opted for Buffet. I am not a big party person so was not experienced in event management..the Newcastle golf club team provided a great service and were very professional. All the team supportive and keen to make the night special ..children were welcome. Great venue for family and friends to catch up and help me celebrate. A memorable night. Many Thanks

This is one of the harder reviews to write. So much was absolutely spot on. Quality. Almost everything as it should be. So perhaps they were having an ‘off’ day. My friend and I tried a ‘Westlands Breakfast’. The chef did a first rate job. We loved the bacon and sausage. The egg and hash browns were amongst the best we have had (and we have had breakfast together for quite a few years). But …. There were no tomatoes ? A quick response was that they hadn’t been delivered yet. Which was a first in umpteen breakfast reviews. No real apology, and more expectantly no offer to replace with an extra sausage etc. Mine did not have any mushrooms. My friends did ? Again a non- committal response of ‘You said you didn’t want any.’ Not true. No offer to get some (Had they run out ?) or replace with something else. The menu states a choice of egg, scrambled, fried or poached. For health reasons I always ask for poached. I only realised when then they arrived, fried, I hadn’t been given the choice. Toast, I prefer brown. Again no choice. It was run of the mill white. But normally you get 1 slice, here you got 2, and it was thick sliced, which was appreciated. And the butter was not the rock hard you sometimes get. Unusually, no one asked, ‘Is everything OK ?’ On the other hand, what was there, was really tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and felt comfortably full afterwards. My friend commented that unusually there were 2 teabags in the pot, rather than the more common one. Plus a jug of hot water, which too often, elsewhere, does not happen. I, for one, appreciated the coffee pot instead of the more common basic cup, which means you then have to re-order for a second cup. The downside was not having English (I mean Potteries) cups and plates etc. (This review was written within 10 miles of the main pottery manufacturers). So much, and in fact probably the default, shouted ‘First Class’. But today it did not deliver. Perhaps an infrequent’ off day’. But I can only say what happened to me.

Went with a group of friends on a Friday evening. The restaurant has recently opened to the general public. The bar was welcoming and friendly where we enjoyed some pre-dinner drinks before being shown to our table. We pre-ordered our food prior to the evening. The food was delicious, well presented and the waiting staff friendly and professional. The menu had good options and catered for those with different dietary requirements in our group. I would recommend the black pudding scotch egg to start, followed by the belly pork and the Bakewell tart to finish. In the summer the patio area looks lovely with great views of the gold course.

After booking the back function room for a Wedding for 2 days (the wedding day and the day before to 'set up') with less than 2 weeks notice we found out that they had double booked and cancelled on us. Has Nick the Landlord any idea what kind of stress that is going to have on any couples memorable day!? Have you any idea how hard it is with such short notice to find anything at all available. Most venues being booked up for at least a year! Thanks Nick, nice one. This was in July this year and moreover the only reason we discovered this total f**k up is because we phoned to check on the arrangements!

Long wait for food but it was busy. Thin chips were tepid and tasteless. Breaded chicken was ok. Lovely cafe and shop but food today let it down.

This pub is glorious. Jess, Adam and the staff team are the tightest of tight-knit bands. They've all got each other's backs, and new staff become part of the team and "get" the culture in the blink of an eye - it must be infectious! The beers are lovely. The food is home-cooked magic. In summer, the walled garden is a sun-dappled sanctuary from the bustle of life. In winter, the twinkling lights and open fires warm the soul. We love the New Bowling Green!!!
