Very poor customer care. Rude staff. Advertising happy hour every night until 11 pm on cocktails. When we asked about this and what the offer was , the staff were unaware. We returned to the sign to double check and were brusquely told was Fridays only. When we explained the sign said differently we were told to check the website which we attempted to do. At no point did the member of staff attempt to ask management to confirm or check this information. Just rudely said, he said it's Fridays only- referring to another member of staff. We left to go to another pub which was friendly and welcoming. Despite the lovely view and settings, we will not return

The atmosphere in here is really nice, relaxed and calm but the food is way overpriced. We paid £59 for two mains both of which weren’t even hot and one starter. The starter cost £10.50 for three tiny pork ribs which I think is a bit ridiculous. The chicken Kiev was a bit on the burnt side and was pretty tasteless and the chips on both of our mains were soggy and cold. They also add a 10% service charge onto the bill which they say you can remove but they shouldn’t be adding it on in the first place, tipping is optional.

Really nice pub. Food was fabulous. I had crispy duck salad and it was amazing. Wait staff were nice and friendly enough. Perhaps just need a little training on the basics. We shared a starter but were given no side plates. Wasn't offered new cutlery for main course. And not once asked if wanted another drink despite empty glass. Also not asked if everything was OK.

The service was professional (thank you so much to the person from the bar who carried our coffees all the way to where we sat outside in the sunshine) with plenty of staff serving in this very busy pub and so little time spent in queueing ... the atmosphere is excellent and so is the food ... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ... thank you!! xx

Great dog friendly restaurant, with warm and welcoming vibes, and great service. The food also came out within 30 minutes despite having the restaurant packed with people. The food is delicious and nicely plated. I’ve tried the mariner fish pie, and the mash on top is buttery, while the filling tastes like good quality seafood. The fish and chips are crispy and light, not oily at all. The portions are generous, but the price is slightly high.

We had a great Sunday lunch here. The food was really good, and a decent portion. Perfectly crispy on the outside roast potatoes and veggies were perfect. And proper stodgy puddings! The service was impressive too. The only criticism is a big portion of food like that needs more gravy, but they don't lose a star for that! We chose this pub for no other reason than its proximity to the Tulip Garden. But it's well worth a visit in its own right. I didn't realise the canal was close by so will definitely be back for a canal walk and visit the Hatton Arms again.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at the Hatton Arms. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome, and the cozy, historic atmosphere made us feel right at home. The pub itself is full of charm, with its exposed beams, cosy atmosphere - perfect for a relaxing drink. What truly made the experience stand out was the service. The manager runs an outstanding team, and his attention to detail and genuine hospitality was evident. He made sure everything was perfect, checking in with guests and creating a friendly, welcoming environment. It’s clear that he takes great pride in making the Hatton Arms a special place, and it really shows. This place is an absolute gem. Already looking forward to my next visit! Highly recommend.

The food here is exceptional - the best of the best, the chicken in the sunday roast was the best I've ever tasted, the pub's decor is elegant and lovely. My complaint and concern is that there is not an option to tip staff when paying - only through the service charge - which is unlikely to go towards the staff, and if so it's very little. It would be great to be able to tip the staff individually for their hard work.

We've always liked the Hatton Arms but haven't been for quite a while. Well the quality has certainly slipped! It was a disappointment, the Scallops were over cooked and not soft like you would expect, the steak arrived cooked wrong which was changed and cooked spot on, however the extra sides of veg that were ordered with the steak were left to go cold on the table whilst the steak was changed. The other dishes were ok. And I would definitely look at your coffee machine and have it set-up properly as the espresso was burnt and very bitter so couldn't be drunk. A genuine shame as this was once a great venue to dine at.

Hatton arms has always been a lovely venue, but sadly these days they are getting bit above their post in my opinion. Food is still lovely, but the portion sizes are excessively small, and prices 10-15% over the norm for similar establishments nearby. Drinks are also nudging towards London prices. There is also a few younger members if staff that are very rude and seem to always have an attitude with customers and a real sense that they don't want to be there. The fact they get a 10% tip automatically added to every bill seems to have made their service somewhat complacent.

Venue on first glance was lovely, nicely decorated and modern, however the food and drinks are overpriced and seriously underwhelming and found the staff unfreindly, unprepared and unhelpful. We were in a large prebooked party and upon arrival there weren't enough seats for us all even though we had booked a table. We were also all required to reorder, which is fine - but when it came to desserts 5 or 6 of us had to reorder as they had run out of 2 of the desserts, you would think the purpose of preordering is to ensure stock? I had the duck salad, and at nearly £20 i was severely underwhelmed, a chopped mix of veggies drowned (when i say drowned i mean it was literally dripping) in watery sweet chilli sauce with dry overcooked slices of duck ontop(no skin so not much flavour), there was so much sauce some of the other diners used it to dip their meals in! It didn't match the menu at all, so sign of mangetout, chilli/lime or plum sauce. My partner had the chicken supreme and the portion was tiny; again, especially considering the price! For dessert, we both had syrup sponge, which was of a neulear temperature obviously had been microwaved too long paired with lukewarm custard, really underwhelming again. For £80 for 2 drinks and 2 courses for the pair of us i was really disappointed.

No one in our group chose of it. The meal I personally had was nice bit fries and mac and cheese were warm rather than hot so edible for for a slow eater would have been cold before they were even halfway through. This is probably not helped by the fact food was served on cold plates. Be aware they add on a 10% service charge to the final bill. If in the area again would check the menu before visiting to make sure there is something everyone in the party would eat.

After reading all the great reviews I was really disappointed with the Hatton Arms. The services was so slow, I must say our waitress was lovely, the manager looked really miserable so I don’t know if it was just a particularly hard shift. I had to send my food back because it was cold when it arrived and because of how long we waited I’m guessing it had been sat under a hot plate for 20 mins or so. They brought me another one out but it was just okay, nothing special and considering the meal was £23 I expected a bit more. I asked for an espresso martini and it came with no coffee bean but lots of mint leaves in it. We paid £130 for two people and overall the food was just okay. Because we were staying local I went back the next day for a cup of coffee out the rain and the male manager who was in was in was just rude and horrible, again the wait staff were really lovely. The other thing was automatically adding the service charge to the bill, it leaves a bitter taste, I would have tipped our server anyway but that should be a choice. If it’s feasible time wise go to the cafe on the locks, the atmosphere is lovely, the staff are really friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious - way better than the pub and about a fifth of the price!

Our first visit we popped in mid week for a quick bite and the food and service were both lovely so we were always intending to return - we finally did today. The decor in the restaurant is lovely and nice vibe about the place. Today we had the Sunday roast share plate.. the quality of the produce was excellent, roast chicken ( one of the tastiest I’ve had anywhere) pork with crackling, roast beef slices, parsnips, carrots, roasts spuds, red and green cabbage, cauliflower cheese, stuffing and two huge HOMEMADE! Yorkshire puddings ( that’s very important- sick of being serviced frozen packet rubbish in restaurants!) & a gravy boat. All the food was very tasty, hot and good portion size.. we almost finished it all but not quite… really good value for money. Would like to praise our server, very friendly and welcoming - attentive and quite honestly just very good at his job.. wish I’d caught his name🤦🏼‍♀️ Definitely recommend and we will be back again for sure. My only recommendation would be to warm the plates for the platter ( I am being very critical here - it’s just a personal preference for Sunday lunch )

Really disappointing meal today. We went for my husband’s birthday and arrived 45 minutes early as it started raining so we cut our walk short. We were told to get a drink and they would call us when our table was ready, I told the lady where we were sitting. 40 minutes later, no one had come over so I went to speak to the same lady and she asked me my name again and then said to follow her. There were 5 tables or more free so we had been waiting for no reason and not sure she would have remembered to come over. We ordered the shared roast board and whilst it all looked lovely, it was all at best luke warm, even the gravy. The cauliflower cheese was hot, but just highlighted the fact that nothing else was. The kids meals were fine. They did offer an alternative meal, but with the rest of the family are already eating and not knowing if the second time it’s going to be any better, I didn’t risk it. A real shame as the quality looked fine.

Most pubs that charge in excess of £5 a pint (and many that charge less) usually don’t object to sampling the ale before parting with hard earned cash. If you don’t like it, you choose to sample another. If you do this twice, it is hardly justification to show abject irritation. However, the server (young tall guy with curly hair) was clearly irritated and felt at liberty to show it when my wife decided to try some samples of ale, and instead opted for a lager. The lager she ordered was thrust down on the bar in front of us with an obvious air of irritation. Hasn’t this young guy had any training in how to deal with customers? He made us feel very unwelcome with his bellicose demeanor. I suggest this bar worker reflect on the fact his wages come ultimately from customers and that he ought to show a little more patience In future. Additionally, practically every table on the terrace and in the garden was littered with empty glasses, crisp packets and cigarette ends. It wasn’t overly busy so I’m sure someone could have busied themselves clearing up. This pub could be great given its wonderful location, but it seemed on the shabby side compared to what it used to be, and, sadly, at least some members of staff need to work on their manners.

Due to a mix up with the booking (our fault) they didn’t have a table for 7 of us. Although the place was almost full the manager worked miracles and within 10 minutes he had us sat down at a table. The service was 1st class. The Sunday roast was delicious, the wine superb, the atmosphere buzzing. Thank you so much.

Went as a group of three to celebrate a birthday, we each had a burger and chips at about £17 each, with drinks and starters the total bill for 3 came to just under £90. Burger was Ok but not overly great, had to wait a long time for drinks -over 20mins for one pint as barrel being changed, you cannot order drinks at the bar - have to have them bought to you. They take 10% service charge automatically added to bill which is presumptuous. We all felt the same highly priced for average fare, it's a bit 'princes new clothes' syndrome As a one off experience with friends we accepted, but a nice out of town Wetherspons can offer great food and be far kinder on your pocket.

Good, honest pub without any frills. The staff are friendly, although the Guinness could be better.

Stopped here on canalboat, had a roast which was absolutely delicious, also had the Greek orange coke, which was outstanding. Fanstastic staff, great atmosphere, we will be back, what a gem. Would recommend to all.

Great pub for hearty pub food . Excellent value and service. The pies are best in area and rump steak good value. We go regularly and standard consistently good.
