Have been to this pub on a few occasions over a forty year period. Old canal side traditional pub with excellent drink choice including real ales. I had the screaming Mexican nachos and my wife had a burger. Nachos were disappointing as the whole thing seemed to have been microwaved far too long and lacked much taste. The burger was at best ok. Perhaps we just chose the wrong things on the wrong day.

The food was excellent, a large choice of all types of food on the menu. We had a platter to share, black pudding scotch egg to start with. Gammon and Egg, tacos and Moules Frites for mains. All were delicious and a very good portion size, hence no dessert. A must for anyone in the area.

Came here on three consecutive nights for dinner while visiting Warwick. Our accommodation was 100m away, so it was perfect to visit after busy, tiring days doing touristy things! Firstly, you need to book online! This place gets really busy and cannot guarantee food if you don’t. Thankfully the lovely staff were able to accommodate us when we hadn’t booked on the first night, although we ate quite late. Our second night was slightly disappointing as none of the fresh fish options were available. Nevertheless, the available options were good. The third night was perfect, all fish options available and again, great service. A really good selection of cask ales and craft beers. A lovely canal-side location. Highly recommended.

Drove half hour out of our way to this pub after seeing pictures and reviews on line but was left bitterly disappointed. Barely any parking due to pub being in a built up residential area and 10-12 parking spaces with 'strictly no parking' signs scattered everywhere else. Sat outside but table/floor hadn't been cleaned properly from previous diners and area quite cramped. Pulled pork tacos were sloppy and barely luke warm so only 1 was eaten fully. Burger looked good and v well presented but the bun was over done & 'crunchy' rather than toasted slightly and chips were far too salty. The Pork/Chicken Soulvaki skewers were mediocre at best and v underwhelming. Really disappointed and gutted we made the journey.

Just left, had a wonderful experience! My partners 50th Birthday! The food is amazing, cooked beautifully 😍 We both had steaks well done and no one minded, we often go to places and they moan about our preference but not here! The chips are lovely, peas, mushroom, gorgeous grilled tomato with a lovely side salad, we just cannot fault it and we're fussy! Our son had the beer battered fish and chips and he loved it, none of us left a thing on our plates 😋 The dessert was also delicious, I had the apple tart, partner has the seasonal crumble, both with custard which was done perfectly and our son enjoyed the salted caramel ice cream. We will be back! Many thanks for a lovely experience 😊 👍👍👍 Prompted by Google to add update and as it happens I have a slightly NEGATIVE update ☹️ Since the first review we've had several different meals here and loved it BUT last weekend was not good at all! We were put in the bar room for the first time as opposed to the dining room and it was very raucous! Fine for a bar room but not to eat in! We couldn't talk to each other without shouting and certainly couldn't bring the little one in there with all the effin and jeffin! Also the meal....we all had the Fish & Chips, usually get a fantastic piece of fish, but these had been on a diet, and along with batter had been severely cremated! Leaving the tiny amount of fish inside next to pointless 😕 Another issue they seem to have is condiments left empty, so not being checked and some of them with lids broken, the table was also filthy and I had to wipe it. The above is unusual for them but it needs mentioning as it has put us off a bit, we don't mind spending extra there for decent food but we didn't even get that 😬

Wasn't a fresh clean pub. We walked in from the car park entrance, not sure if there is another entrance. Was cosy inside the part we were in, staff were polite and service was quick. Didn't ask how the food was after we got it. They were very busy, it was Sunday late afternoon. Roast lamb wasn't tasty unfortunately, whole meal was quite bland. The side of crispy potatoes we paid extra for were the highlight. Crumble was piping hot with no warning, apple and pear, more pear than apple, again bland and loads more crumble than fruit. Chocolate cake asked for twice to be heated and served with ice cream. It wasn't sweet sadly, felt like a waste of calories. Maybe it was both of us because the reviews pulled us in. Wouldn't return. That type of meal you're upset you paid for.

We visit the cape of good hope today with our dog who is the most gentle elderly Labrador. The minute we walked through the door a jack Russell that was behind the door launched at our dog and bit his face. Most shocking of all is that the people in the pub including the bar staff actually sided with the owner who’s dog bit ours. (They were all clearly friends). Someone actually said that we should ‘expect it to happen in a pub that allows dogs’. Bottom line is our dog is friendly and theirs isn’t. If your dog is vicious then you should be taking precautions such as using a muzzle or maybe not hiding it behind a door ready for it to pounce on the next dog that walks through the door. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG THEIR

We visited this pub while on a canal boating holiday (it is right on the canal side) on two consecutive days. The first evening we just had a couple of drinks from their fabulous selection of often locally sourced beers and spirits (though, given the relative locations I was a little surprised and disappointed not to see Nelson’s Distillery represented). On that visit we booked a table for a meal the following night. The pub has a lovely real pub feel and an atmosphere that encourages good humour. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and give the impression that they genuinely enjoy being there. They are happy to provide mouthful samples of the many beers available to help you decide what you would like. The pub side of the venue really cannot be faulted… which sets slightly too high a bar for the restaurant. When we took our table for our meal we were presented with a menu with a great many enticing sounding dishes plus a list of “specials” from which to choose. Once we had made our selections we ordered at the bar including a bottle of white wine. The wine was presented in a clear bag which was a quirky take on the ice bucket but it was rather too warm and the ice in the bag was insufficient to cool it enough. Requesting another couple of scoops of ice and adding a couple of cubes to our glasses alleviated the problem. When our food arrived it was well presented and generously proportioned and it tasted good - but only good. Given our experience in the pub the previous evening and from reading the website we had expected fabulous but the food fell short of that (for example, my seasonal veg was on the salad side of all-dented). It is a real shame as we were left feeling that with a simplified menu the food could easily live up to the promise of the pub and website. All that said, I’d still come again if I were in the area again.

After a day of descending the Hatton Flight of locks (21 of them), there was no way I was going to cook. We decided to go to the Cape of Good Hope for a meal and drink. We both chose fish and chips and oh boy! we were not disappointed. The fish was very fresh and encased in a Hook Norton beer batter which was very light and crispy. The chips were skin on and the crushed peas with a mint flavour were excellent. To complete the plate was a portion of tartare sauce and a seared lemon wedge. The portion was a bit too large for me but hubby polished his off. All in all, not disappointed at all with our food and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the pub.

Got to be honest the pub looks a little run down from the exterior but having read the good reviews I’m glad we stopped by. Lovely, home cooked, fresh food. The Mexican loaded chips were lovely & the scotch egg very tasty. The kids meals, although a little small for our 10 year old grandson, were home-made too. We also had the Cajun chicken baguette, which had a lovely chargrilled flavour but couldn’t really taste the Cajun seasoning. All in all a very enjoyable lunch & I would definitely recommend.

L'interno molto caratteristico, non grande ma molto accogliente. nonostante fosse tutto pieno siamo stati serviti assai velocemente. This is a lovely old traditional pub. It was clean and well laid out and there is plenty of parking. The staff are friendly and warm and the beer and wines are good. The only downside was the food. Our fish main was overcooked and my starter was swimming in oil/butter, not nice. The prices here are restaurant prices rather than pub grub prices but the food does not match the price. Either improve the food or reduce the price.

I’m a regular in Almanack! Really like the place! Modern, clean, friendly staff, nice food… Everything is fine except one thing… The portions. I have breakfast and brunch all the time and the portions are so small!!! First time I had pancakes I thought they was a mix up and brought me a kid’s portion. 3 tiny pancakes, 3 bites…. Thought it was a joke! Quantity is disproportionate to the price! Such a shame because it’s a great place.

Popular village pub part of the Peach pub chain which has several in Warwickshire. We did not have a booking but they were able to seat us. An old pub but modern decor. Service friendly and attentive. Good menu choice, which varies by season. Vegetarian choices. Both enjoyed our food, we will be back.
