We were on a weekend break in Warwick and needed a place to eat for dinner. Found this place on the Internet and booked for that evening. Could only fit us in at 8.30 pm but we'll worth it. was amazing. Place was busy with both diners and drinkers. Don't be fooled by the journey through the housing estate, just follow the directions and park in the small car park and walk to the front of the pub on the canalside.

We were going somewhere else but couldn't get into our usual place, so we thought we'd try the Cape. Let's say we shall never go anywhere else again for a Sunday roast - it was outstanding! We all had the mixed roast, which was great value and just fantastic. The cauliflower cheese side was also great. We would have loved to have dessert, but there was no way we were fitting in after that dinner; we ate every scrap! We will definitely return!

A review to correct the record from the response to my wife's review from the owner recently. I feel as though this comment to respond has been written out of a knee jerk reaction to defend something where unfortunately you made the miscommunication and mistake in the first place, which could have easily been prevented. My wife never swore at Tom in front of many customers that's incorrect. We were frustrated that Tom didn't make it clear to my wife when booking our table that it was only dog friendly in the bar only and not the restaurant. When my wife asked "In here?" out of shock, Tom sarcastically replied with "It's a table isn't it?" So clearly this was thought to be an acceptable table, which we didn't think it was. Other customers had left their pints on the table before we even sat down for a start. The table we were given was in a very busy and cramped bar area and wasn't suitable for my Mother-in-Law's Birthday celebration. We couldn't even hear ourselves speak to each other let alone relax and enjoy a meal together. Also to correct I never apologised on my wife's behalf, I said "it wasn't suitable for us on this occasion due to the lack of space and noise in the bar area, sorry'. I didn't apologise for my wife so to correct that point also. It's disappointing that a response to the feedback is defensive and wasn't treated in a way to resolve things for potential new customers.

Exceptional Food and Service at The Cape of Good Hope I recently dined at The Cape of Good Hope in Warwick and was thoroughly impressed. Situated by the canal, the pub’s setting creates a relaxing and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a casual meal. I opted for the Greek Mixed Grill, and it was outstanding. The dish featured a generous selection of meats, all cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and packed with authentic flavours. The sides were equally delicious and rounded out the meal beautifully. It was clear that great care had gone into preparing the dish. The service was impeccable. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and friendly, ensuring everything was perfect without being intrusive. It’s rare to find a place that balances quality food with top-notch service so seamlessly. The Cape of Good Hope is an absolute gem in Warwick. Whether you’re dining with friends, family, or just looking for a solo treat, this pub delivers on all fronts. I can’t recommend it highly enough! Rating: ★★★★★

Drove half hour out of our way to this pub after seeing pictures and reviews on line but was left bitterly disappointed. Barely any parking due to pub being in a built up residential area and 10-12 parking spaces with 'strictly no parking' signs scattered everywhere else. Sat outside but table/floor hadn't been cleaned properly from previous diners and area quite cramped. Pulled pork tacos were sloppy and barely luke warm so only 1 was eaten fully. Burger looked good and v well presented but the bun was over done & 'crunchy' rather than toasted slightly and chips were far too salty. The Pork/Chicken Soulvaki skewers were mediocre at best and v underwhelming. Really disappointed and gutted we made the journey.

Came here on three consecutive nights for dinner while visiting Warwick. Our accommodation was 100m away, so it was perfect to visit after busy, tiring days doing touristy things! Firstly, you need to book online! This place gets really busy and cannot guarantee food if you don’t. Thankfully the lovely staff were able to accommodate us when we hadn’t booked on the first night, although we ate quite late. Our second night was slightly disappointing as none of the fresh fish options were available. Nevertheless, the available options were good. Just left, had a wonderful experience! My partners 50th Birthday! The food is amazing, cooked beautifully 😍 We both had steaks well done and no one minded, we often go to places and they moan about our preference but not here! The chips are lovely, peas, mushroom, gorgeous grilled tomato with a lovely side salad, we just cannot fault it and we're fussy! Our son had the beer battered fish and chips and he loved it, none of us left a thing on our plates 😋 The dessert was also delicious, I had the apple tart, partner has the seasonal crumble, both with custard which was done perfectly and our son enjoyed the salted caramel ice cream. We will be back! Many thanks for a lovely experience 😊 👍👍👍 Prompted by Google to add update and as it happens I have a slightly NEGATIVE update ☹️ Since the first review we've had several different meals here and loved it BUT last weekend was not good at all! We were put in the bar room for the first time as opposed to the dining room and it was very raucous! Fine for a bar room but not to eat in! We couldn't talk to each other without shouting and certainly couldn't bring the little one in there with all the effin and jeffin! Also the meal....we all had the Fish & Chips, usually get a fantastic piece of fish, but these had been on a diet, and along with batter had been severely cremated! Leaving the tiny amount of fish inside next to pointless 😕 Another issue they seem to have is condiments left empty, so not being checked and some of them with lids broken, the table was also filthy and I had to wipe it. The above is unusual for them but it needs mentioning as it has put us off a bit, we don't mind spending extra there for decent food but we didn't even get that 😬

Didn't ask how the food was after we got it. They were very busy, it was Sunday late afternoon. Roast lamb wasn't tasty unfortunately, whole meal was quite bland. The side of crispy potatoes we paid extra for were the highlight. Crumble was piping hot with no warning, apple and pear, more pear than apple, again bland and loads more crumble than fruit. Chocolate cake asked for twice to be heated and served with ice cream. It wasn't sweet sadly, felt like a waste of calories. Maybe it was both of us because the reviews pulled us in. Wouldn't return. That type of meal you're upset you paid for.

We visit the cape of good hope today with our dog who is the most gentle elderly Labrador. The minute we walked through the door a jack Russell that was behind the door launched at our dog and bit his face. Most shocking of all is that the people in the pub including the bar staff actually sided with the owner who’s dog bit ours. (They were all clearly friends). Someone actually said that we should ‘expect it to happen in a pub that allows dogs’. Bottom line is our dog is friendly and theirs isn’t. If your dog is vicious then you should be taking precautions such as using a muzzle or maybe not hiding it behind a door ready for it to pounce on the next dog that walks through the door. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG THEIR

A fantastic lunch! Gluten free fish and chips! Although no gluten free vinegar, a good size of beautiful battered fish and plenty of chips with mushy peas! An extensive menu with a brilliant specials board! Celiacs well worth a visit! 👍

Our party of 3 booked a table on 23/03/25 for a Sunday lunch booking the table on line I advised one of the group had a nut allergy 2 of us ordered lamb shanks and 1 roast pork with a side of cauliflower cheese the waitress took the order and asked if any one had any allergies I advised her that my friend had a nut allergy and that I had also recorded it on the online booking When the meals arrived we were all delighted to see our plates we shared the cauliflower cheese and was about to eat when a very nervous waitress came and asked if any one had a nut allergy as there were nuts on the cauliflower cheese All 3 meals were taken away and apologise given unfortunately there were no replacement lamb shanks left which was very disappointing I had beef and my friend had Cornish shepherds pie with a massive pile of greens and my friend was able to have the pork she originally ordered we also had a portion of cauliflower cheese, Unfortunately the replacement meals were not good and I ended up taking them home for my dog we didn’t have to pay for our mains due to the allergy mix up it was a nice jester but unfortunately we did not enjoy are experience and it could of been very detrimental to my friends health We did enjoy Harvey he was a ray of sunshine very friendly and professional he made us all smile
