Star & Garter in Warwick

Took our Warwick University son for a lunch and it was perfectly pleasant and well priced. Good choice of food including a wide specials board amd good things for vegetarians. The courgette fingers were very good as was the crab and leek tart - excel met fat chips too but can you please get some Tabasco in? The staff were very friendly

Lovely and welcoming staff. Good choice of foods including vegetarian. Food wasn’t so great but customer service was excellent. Atmosphere was good but bit crowded. Family enjoyed the Sunday dinner but not so great. Lovely interior and there was some discounts for some.

I NEVER go out to eat Sunday because I’m good at making my own thank you and no pub can match a home cooked roast and all the trimmings! Well. I’m here to report that the amazing Star and Garter has proved me wrong. Service was excellent, the floor staff happy and laughing, clearly great team dynamics fostered my a good manager. Service was prompt, the specials advised and orders placed. Food arrived promptly. Duck starter was excellent. But it’s the roast dinners that take centre stage. A very generous portion size of the meat of your choice. The roasties were perfect. I’d like to mention is dispatches the vegetables though Lovely buttered cabbage and leeks perfectly cooked with just the right amount of bite, roasted root vegetables and the cauliflower cheese was to die for. The icing on the cake was that exactly at the point I’d popped the last piece of potato and Yorkshire pudding into my mouth, slightly disappointed that I still had plenty of meat in my plate, that a waitress appeared at my side asking if I’d like more potatoes and another Yorkshire pud, the size and lightness I’ve not seen before. I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. A truly wonderful experience so thank you to all the team at the Star and Garter in Leamington 👏👏👏👏 I’ve never been so happy to be proved wrong.

My husband engaged his unfortunately mine wasn't very warm. They took it away and replaced it and warmed the sauce. Still not really hot.

First time visiting and won't be the last! We went for a midweek lunch and had such a warm welcome. The food was delicious -.steak and ale pie, burger and chicken schnitzel highly recommended. We will be back!

Great food. Poor service. Too many servers not doing anything. 10min wait for meet and greet having arrived at allocated booking. Service like a greasy spoon, throw it on the table. Very expensive for the experience,

The food here is very good and the manager and staff are excellent but our meal was completely ruined by unsupervised rude kids using the pub as a playground and jumping on and off the stairs to the toilets which were next to our table which was not only a health and safety hazard but also meant that we couldn't relax and eat our meal in peace. We did notify the manger but it seems the pub can't do anything to curtail this behaviour so we certainly won't be back.

Food’s good but I prefer it for a drink

Good food at a fair price in a lively atmosphere. Prawns as a starter were standout.

I’ve been going here for fifteen years and in the past it’s always been very good. But not today. It has clearly changed hands and the previous friendly service just isn’t there any more. Now it is just an expensive, unfriendly bar/ restaurant. The food is good (did I mention expensive) but the service is dreadful. It’s just not worth it anymore. Another good British pub that isn’t going to last much longer.

We came with family having been before and greatly recommended we had a bad experience one meal sent back pie burnt very hard said it will be a 20 min wait unless I had another choice opted for burger 5 mins later replaced with red uncooked burger sent back offered another said to late evening ruined a refund of my meal only other family had a ok meal but the evening dining ruined not recommend a return

I booked the Star n Garter in leamington 2 weeks in advance online . Arrived at the said time . No table ready , waited 10 mins to be seated. They then proceeded to eject some people from a table and then dragged 3 tables and pushed them together to squeeze our group of 10 people in next to the main entrance/ exit. The tables were sticky. Ordered drinks and the waitress brought the wrong drinks plus 5 more drinks we didn't order to our table . I have no complaints on the starters. When we asked for mains , it took over an hour for the Christmas mains to arrive, which were Luke warm and far to small for a Christmas meal. Service was shoddy to say the least , cutlery was just dumped at the end of the table. To add insult to injury , they presented us with the wrong bill , trying to charge us for 22 people when infact there was only 10 people in our party. It then took 3 attempts to get the correct bill. This is an accurate account of the night.

Lovely setting, lovely welcome, great service from friendly and attentive staff, dog friendly in the bar area and best Sunday roast! Every individual part of it was delicious! We will definitely recommend and definitely will be back soon 😋

Lovely foodie pub with a good range of wines and beers and a seasonal menu with plenty of delicious options

Went for Sunday roast and thought it was very average. Sent back our drinks as they were flat also sent back our paid side of cauliflower cheese as the cauliflower was raw and certainly didn’t resemble a good cauliflower cheese. Roast meats were the best bit, all veg was very undercooked.

Went for a Sunday Roast and was unimpressed by the cleanliness (sticky, dirty table, and cobwebs) and service. We were really excited but probably wouldn't go back, it really wasn't worth the cost.

My husband and I visited for a last minute roast without a booking at the busiest period of the day on a Sunday - we were warmly welcomed and seated at a cosy table, and waited on by the kindest, most enthusiastic staff. A delightful experience from start to finish, with scrumptious food. Looking forward to our next visit, thank you so much team for making our visit so lovely!

Arrived on time, shown to table, waited 5 mins and had to ask for menus and drinks, not a great start. Steak was nice but small, few chis and pile of rocket for £32, over priced. The special Muscles dish was again small and they did mot taste fresh, overall a disappointing evening with underwhelming food

Popped here today after work , amazing service , and the food was beautiful . The owner made us feel welcome and comfortable, and nothing was too much trouble , would defo recommend and would come again . Sunday lunch was delicious! The staff are all very friendly, welcoming and very efficient. It's clear that customer service is important to this business and that the staff are happy in their work. The food was really good, very tasty home made soup for starter and then full roast beef dinner - everything was spot on. The added touch of being offered seconds of roast potatoes and yorkie puds was the icing on the cake. I'd definitely recommend a visit!

What a gem! Fabulous lively atmosphere in this bustling, warm, and well lit venue. Great welcome, super attentive landlord and staff with live music. For my first visit to any hostelry in the town, this was great. Excellent tapas and extensive collection of non alcoholic beers. Recommend all day long!

Absolute Gem in Leam We had a large table booking on a Spanish themed night and both the venue and the food didn’t disappoint! The staff felt like one big family , dancing, smiling and enjoying the Spanish vibes whilst serving, exceptional food. The drinks were flowing and the room was filled with the vibe of the live band.. Mambo Jambo .. The well managed, welcoming venue, the staff at the Star and Garter, the band and good friends made a memorable night … Defo recommend 🙌

Great atmosphere and good beers

Visited on a Friday night in a group of 10. Fantastic welcome and quickly seated with drinks. The menu is great with loads of options so it was hard to choose. Onion bhaji scotch egg was popular and very good. Delicious food and a very good atmosphere but most of all the service and staff are brilliant. Always checking we had everything we needed and topping up drinks orders.

Fabulous high quality meal at a great price! (Currently 2 mains for £25)

Ate here on a Thursday night with my wife and two friends. Starters, mains, plus £100 of wine plus extras drinks. Service compared to a few years ago was pretty lax. £50 bottles of wine opened and plonked on table; friendly service but felt like they had better things to do than make us feel special; food-wise, langoustines main looked great but everyone was really hungry still as it was a really small dish. Steak was well cooked and tasted great. Overall, the meal wasn’t cheap and felt like it had moved to pub service with only ok food. Shame really.

We’ve eaten here twice and both times did not disappoint! Lunch on a Saturday with a few drinks was delicious and made us want to try their Sunday roasts. Sunday roasts are a bit thing for our family & we’ve struggled to find somewhere that we all love. However, Star and Garter have succeeded in this! Potatoes were crispy, meat was tender, veggies were delicious and the Yorkshire pudding was spectacular. We all finished off with a pudding (not something that we would usually do!) and these were all lovely too. Most definitely will be back, especially for Sunday lunch!

Food was no where near the standard we expected after reading up on most recent reviews prior to our visit, admittedly it was after 3pm when we rocked up and maybe the cuts of beef and pork that we we served up were the dregs especially the pork which my partner had and was very fatty. The cabbage was well undercooked along with the root vegetables which were soggy and not roasted. We're not ones to complain as a rule but when you're paying out what we were charged then you do tend to walk away very dissatisfied. Staff were lovely though but I think the chef needs to up his game when it comes to Sunday roasts.

Whilst visiting Leamington we were searching for a dog friendly pub/restaurant. The Star & Garter was recommended. WOW! What a find! The food was superb..Lemon Sole and Onglet steak were both delicious. Well cooked & beautifully presented…we couldn’t fault it. Cheese board was first rate. Service & attention to detail was excellent. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back!

Dreadful food, I had a cheese burger, it was so overcooked it was like eating a piece of carpet, owner gracefully knocked off the price of one beer from the menu, no thanks, my advice, walk past this place

I had a drama this morning, being temporarily separated from my dog. Erin joined the dots and found a way to reunite us while another team member looked after me with a complementary cup of tea. So kind and richly appreciated.🙏🙏

Had Sunday lunch for a large family gathering and we were looked after very well indeed. Food was plentiful and the traditional Sunday roasts a popular choice were very good. Service was attentive and coped very well the numbers and variety of orders. Separate room with balcony worked really well.

Visited for Sunday lunch for fathers day and I couldn't fault any of it. The hugely attentive service on arrival, the quality of the food and the reasonable price and super dig friendly. Loved it!!

A great pub with good atmosphere that also does good food. There is a varied menu which caters for all tastes and requirements. The staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating which makes the service very good. I had the prawns on sour dough for starters which were delicious. We also had a baked Camembert which was nice but rather small to share. We all had the roast beef and the choice of how we wanted it cooked was excellent, 3 of us had pink and one well done and it was delicious. The cauliflower cheese is a great accompaniment. I have to say bringing extra roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings was a nice touch. It was very busy which did mean the service was a little slow. If you are in the area it is well worth a visit

Absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch! Wow 🤩. Roast beef was cooked (pink) to perfection and served with all the trimmings. They even came round the table to see if anyone wanted extra roasties or yorkshires. What a lovely touch and one I’ve never experienced. Cauliflower cheese was yummy too. Waiting staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. Can’t wait to go back!

We had a fantastic meal today. There were 6 of us and we all had a great time and great food. The food was excellent but the service was a cut above. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. With a special shout out to the maitre ‘d who went out of his way to make us feel welcome and special

I brought my Great Niece here for her 16th Birthday treat as she loves a good Sunday Roast. I asked for extra time at the table as she likes to eat slowly and a lot of places only allow you 1 hour to eat. We both really enjoyed our food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My Great Niece "Absolutely loved that restaurant" according to her mum! 5 Star rating from both of us on this occasion, I am sure we will be back again soon!

Best Sunday roast around. Trio of meats outstanding

Just popped in as an afternoon meal and we could not of come back any more satisfied than we are!! Service was next to none a super friendly Gent dressed in a bright blue shirt could not of done more for us and what an upseller he is lol my partner originally ordered the rump cap at 22 pound but the chef had Wagu in and was going on the evening specials, he was offered to up grade and the wagu came in at 35 pound but OMG worth every penny melted in the mouth and cooked to perfection. I had the Chicken schnitzel with garlic butter and it was so tasty. 10/10 all round. Thank you for a great experience.

A pub with traditional food but in a nicer setting

This pub has really nice food - its my second time eating here and I’ve been impressed both times.

Visited in December for work xmas do. Our booked table was delayed by around 30 mins (not their fault, the party before ran well over time), but we were well compensated with some free booze. Food and service was fabulous and great value for money. The Team did a great job of looking after 30+ of use whilst the main pub downstairs was HEAVING BRAVO Star and Garter team. You did not disappoint 👏 🙌 👌

I went there on Christmas Eve. Good experience.

This place is a fraud. A table today with at least 5 and at times 8 folk were largely ignored unless we hollered for attention or went to the bar to try to get noticed. Food was good but not 20 quid good. The food though is a sideshow to a venue that has zero interaction with its customers. Really disappointing.

We had our staff Christmas party at the Star & Garter and everyone commented on how amazing the food and staff were! The atmosphere was fantastic and really got everyone in the festive spirit! Special thanks to Sian who made sure we always had a full glass!
