Popular village pub part of the Peach pub chain which has several in Warwickshire. We did not have a booking but they were able to seat us. An old pub but modern decor. Service friendly and attentive. Good menu choice, which varies by season. Vegetarian choices. Both enjoyed our food, we will be back.

3 visits in a week due to the excellent customer service and fabulous menu. Lived in village 12 years and visited multiple times since Peach pubs taken over. Can really feel a difference with atmosphere, food & staff. Navine & Jacob in particular. Thanks to all, looking forward to trying the Christmas menu:

White Lion is an absolute gem of a gastropub, a place where rustic charm meets refined taste in a beautifully restored setting. Walking in, you’re immediately enveloped by the warmth and character of the space—there’s a palpable sense of history in every detail, yet the entire place feels refreshingly polished and elegant. It’s not just a restaurant; it feels like stepping into a thoughtfully crafted experience. The service? Impeccable. Every staff member seems genuinely invested in making your visit memorable, striking that perfect balance between attentive and unobtrusive. They move seamlessly, anticipate needs before you’ve even thought of them, and all with a welcoming friendliness that feels both professional and heartfelt. It’s rare to feel this well looked after without a hint of pretense. Now, onto the main event—the legendary Sunday roast. It’s no exaggeration to say this might just be the pinnacle of comfort dining. The roast itself is flawless: tender, perfectly cooked meat with a golden-brown crust, alongside all the traditional trimmings elevated to new heights. The Yorkshire puddings are crispy and airy, the gravy rich and savory, and the vegetables cooked to perfection, retaining a freshness that’s often missing in classic pub fare. Each bite feels like an indulgence, like this is exactly what a Sunday roast is meant to taste like. White Lion isn’t just a place to eat; it’s a place to experience. With its stunning decor, exceptional service, and food that feels steeped in both tradition and passion, it’s the kind of restaurant that doesn’t just meet expectations—it redefines them.

If you look at google the photo is an old one as the pub as recently been done out so no breakfast as the chalk board says but they do morning coffee from 10am. On a recent visit found the place very nice staff were polite and accomadating food was all good no complaints. Their is a large room off the main pub for large parties of around 20 that can be closed off. The pub has arond 100 tables so plenty to choose from inside and out with garden and patio area.Toilets may be a little hard to find but they are clean and to a good order. Also dog friendly so good for walkers and people just dropping in.Not much more as i can say but a good pub and i had a good experience their so go along enjoy or not if you dont go you will never know.

Such a beautiful venue, it completely surprised me how lovely it was. The staff were spectacular helping us select a table, helping us move when it was too sunny where we were sitting, providing real support and insight into the menu, uneven offering me blankets because I'm a baby. The food was fine, though not overly amazing. I wouldn't let that stop you though it was a lovely afternoon, in such a gorgeous back garden.

Wow! Called in for a drink on our way home last night. Hadn’t been here for a long time. We were blown away by everything. The refurb inside is stunning. Super friendly staff and a huge, beautiful garden area. Husband had a beef and ale pie with mash and veg. I had the Camembert and bread with absolutely divine marmite butter. Wasn’t going to have a pudding, but sounded, and was, absolutely delicious! Our waitress Navine, was incredibly attentive and informative. She took the time explaining special dishes. Also, the history of the pub and the the themed, upcoming nights planned. Thoroughly enjoyable evening. The setting, the food and the company all made for a perfect evening. This is definitely a new favourite.

We have been coming to this place for many years - as it changed and evolved. Alas our recent experience of Sunday lunch was disappointing. The roast beef plate was uninspiring. The vegetables were so overcooked that they all tasted the same. The presentation was basic - for a small plate priced at £21.00. We ordered a side of cauliflower cheese. This used to be a delicious dish in this restaurant. It was inedible! Can’t describe it except to say that it was as if the cauliflower had been shredded and baked in a sour cheese sauce, covered with breadcrumbs. The result is unimpressive. I’m sorry to be writing v such a negative review but for the amount of money they are charging, I expected much much better food! I hope they can sort out the quality of their food soon.

This did mean there was a bit of a wait for food to come out. But it was worth the wait, every dish was delicious (and we are quite picky and judgy when we eat out!). And staff were really kind and obviously doing their best to give good service on a busy evening. The setting was lovely too, dining outside. Thanks for a great evening!

I was down in Lemington from Manchester and did a little research to find a nice dog friendly pub for Sunday lunch before I headed back home and found the White Lion..I was in fact with my new kitten and the weather was not as good as promised. I had booked an outside table as no in door tables were available. The thoughtful host found a lovely table inside away from other dog owners which was a great start. I ordered the special 3 meat Sunday Roast. The meal arrived promptly and was delicious. I was also surprised when the host popped over with extra Yorkshire puds and roast potatoes. I had also been offered extra gravy which being a Northerner eagerly accepted. As I enjoyed the meal with perfectly pink beef So much I found a little room for an apple crumble. Not disappointed. Even the cappuccino was good with a side of smarties. Overall, a splendid experience and my only criticism is that it is too far from home to become my go to Sunday lunch venue.

We have visited the place for the first time. It's very well refurbished. Lovely pergola outside. We have been greeted by a friendly staff. We have ordered our dinner there. The drinks were quite nice. My partner ordered a chicken terrine for the starter which was nice. However, we have been disappointed by the mains and the children's meal (very basic burger, no veggies on the side). My partner has ordered a veggie burger with fries and I've ordered the crab. For the price, we were expecting more for the presentation as well as the sides and taste. The fries were not great. The food was ok. I was also very disappointed by the Tarte tatin as it tastes burnt caramel. We might come back if they make some improvements on the presentation, the portions and the sides of the meals. But at the moment, we will probably come back just for drinks but not for food.

First time we had been here in a long while and it is still a fine pub, nicely decorated and a good ambience. The staff were accommodating but were a little off-handish. Service was good and everything came out together and it was hot. The food however seemed a bit bland and expensive for what it was, especially the Schnitzel and the Celeriac and Mushroom Wellington. The Gammon and the Duck were a little tastier. The Monfish tempura was very disappointing for the price. Ales and Wines are good. Not a bad local pub, but the food has been a little hit and miss of late. We came recently, and the courgette fritters were greasy, the roast was a little cold, and a few other diners had cold food. We arrived without a booking on a sunday afternoon and were seated without hassle and ordered food. Our roast dinners were delicious, and the service was great. This could of potentially been a 5 star review if it wasn't for 1 thing that really pissed me off. On the specials menu, they had a side order of crackling as an extra. I had ordered pork, so i decided to ask for it. When it arrived, it tasted like some kind of fake frozen substitute, almost like the pork scratching snacks you buy from behind the bar and not real crackling from the meat that was cooked on the day.

This review is not about the food, it's about a unbelievable incident that we encountered. My wife called to reserve a table for six as we wanted our pet dog to join. She got a reservation at 7:15 and got a confirmation sms on her phone. When we got there, the lady at the counter told us she could not find our reservation and she could not have any additional booking that night. A gentleman came along and told us a woman called a short while ago asking about the pet friendliness policy but she hung up before making the reservation. We were then being offered a table right next to the bar. Five minutes later, my wife arrived and showed the confirmation sms to the lady. She said we might have mixed up another restaurant, White horse instead of White lion. That's both interesting and creepy! If the gentleman is telling the truth, my wife would not have finished the reservation and could not get the confirmation message. If the lady was correct, how would my wife received a message from a restaurant she had not called and therefore would not have her phone number. If my wife did call White horse instead of White lion, who was talking with the gentleman and asked about the pet friendly policy? The most sensible scenario would be: my wife did called White Horse about the pet friendly policy and coincidentally, their policy is the same as White Lion. And at the same time, the gentleman at the White Lion received a called from a woman asking the pet friendly policy and wished to reserve a table for six but hung up before making the reservation. I felt sorry I had coused the trouble at the White Lion because they seemed to be very busy at the moment we entered. I felt embarassed as we were asking too many questions and making a fuss. We should have visited White Horse even if we had no idea what it was, where it was and how their food was. At least we got a true and responsible answer.

What a beatiful place and what a disappointment. Great looking menu but that is where it ended. Two of us ordered the salt beef sandwiches with chips. one had fish goujon sandwich and one had the pork belly with chips. The diner with pork belly was very happy and the chips looked and tasted excellent. The two salt beef sandwiches came without chips. When the chips arrived they were very undercooked and tasteless, a total contrast to the excellent ones with the pork belly. In hindsight we should have sent them back. The salt beef sandwich was salt beef with a bit of what looked like red cabbage on top. No mustard mayonaise and no pickle. They were totally tasteless as were the fish goujons. More miss than hit at this place. I wouldnt return.

Over priced in every way. £27 for a £10 (retail not wholesale) bottle of wine. £20 for fish and (few) chips. Lamb pavé that was over cooked and tough to cut. Extra half Yorkshire pudding (flat) and roast potatoes provided - despite being requested no extra gravy was forthcoming. Tiny slice of salted caramel cheesecake with spoon of cream - £7.50! Absolutely nothing here you couldn’t get more of and just as good at a Toby carvery (or similar).

A fantastic venue for dinner and a beautiful side room overlooking fields. However we were shown menus and then just left for over 20 minutes, no one came to take a drinks order or show us the specials menu board. Having walked and spoken to a server to ask for a bottle of wine, we were still just left when it was brought to us and no one came for the food order. Having spoken to staff again another server who was very polite and pleasant took our order. The food was very nicely presented and tasty although the crab starter was two small blobs of crab amongst the salmon both of us were surprised and expected more crab. Our main courses were delicious and the Chippie tea artfully wrapped in paper for an authentic touch. The orzo looked and tasted amazing. Ordering the cheese for dessert for one of us and asking for a liqueur coffee as well for my girlfriend there was sadly a 10 minute wait for the coffee to arrive after the cheese was served. Again delicious cheeses with very pleasant chutney and biscuits. The staff are friendly, polite and personable but sadly tarnished our overall experience on the night by their lack of attentiveness. Such a shame as visits to another pub in the group nearby has always been brilliant.

A great relaxing catch-up with friends today. Friendly service and flavoursome food. I had a very tasty fish cake, others said their meals were good too - fish and chips, smoked salmon ciabatta, fisherman's basket, piri piri chicken burger, chicken pate. Pudding didn't disappoint either - triple chocolate fudge cake and ice cream, Panna Cotta with summer berry compote. Good service, good food, good value. I'll be back. Another visit today. It didn't disappoint. Again friendly service, delicious food and relaxing atmosphere. Delicious whitebait and marmalade bread and butter pudding. Again, good service, good food and relaxing atmosphere. And good prices. The Anchor never fails to deliver - delicious food, friendly, efficient service and a cosy atmosphere. Well done

I’m a regular in Almanack! Really like the place! Modern, clean, friendly staff, nice food… Everything is fine except one thing… The portions. I have breakfast and brunch all the time and the portions are so small!!! First time I had pancakes I thought they was a mix up and brought me a kid’s portion. 3 tiny pancakes, 3 bites…. Thought it was a joke! Quantity is disproportionate to the price! Such a shame because it’s a great place.

Cosy modern pub near to Jephson Gardens. Plenty of space and not a bad beer selection. There are food options though I didn't partake.
