Popped in for a couple. Friendly staff . Little quiet but was good

Very rude service. Was kicked out of the toilets when I was in need of the toilet despite buying a drink. Very disappointing experience and will not be returning. Hopefully their staff learn their manners and develop into more polite individuals. Also the coca cola was warm and stale. Overall if I could give this pub 0 stars I would.

Great performance area upstairs in the theatre with a lovely bar on the ground floor for pre show drinks, friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Had some great nights at this pub over the years. Recently, the best nights there have usually been the open mic on a Wednesday evening, which features some brilliant performances from local talent and, on occasion, even some from further afield. Highly recommended.

Always good before the football

The bartender was impolite because I wasn’t a local. She acted like she couldn’t be bothered. She was too involved with her mates sitting at the bar. The beer was great, but the vibe was uninviting. The pub was nice, but I felt like I was not welcomed.

Well, this pub seems to have mastered the art of time travel. It's regressed by 50 years into the past. There can't be many pubs in today's England that don't purvey Tea. Or Coffee. Or any other warm drink whatsoever for those of us who don't imbibe alcohol (or fizzy stuff, or sugary juices). At least it's enabled me to take a firm and irrevocable decision: I shall not return. Goodbye.

Very very poor wouldn't let my friend in who wanted a j20, he just wanted to sit with us whilst we had a drink of desperado and madri. Use to be so good

Me and my band played a live set and it was absolutely amazing atmosphere. I loved it <3

I my husband and I decided to have a drink but couldn't find a place to park (no problem as the surrounding area was always busy at this time). My husband dropped me off first as I needed the loo. I was met with a torrent of abuse from the barmaid for not buying a drink first. By the time I came out of the loo my husband was still not in the pub but found him outside in the car. I took some money off him while he was still finding a place and went back in but the barmaid refused to take my money and said I was interrupting her phone call so I left and we went to another pub up the road. The pub was empty.

Went to watch the FA Cup on Saturday great staff very friendly lovely bar

Owner leaves their dog unsupervised outside with no toys or shelter for 14 hours a day, every day, and the dog whines or barks for every single minute of it. Perfect for the students living next door doing their final exams!

Very friendly staff. Very helpful. Small pub. Limited ability to serve big crowds. Had limited glasses and such but otherwise ok.

Lovely clean cafe, prices were fair and staff nice. I'd recommend this

Much improved since the previous management. Since our last visit (~18 months ago) the pub was taken on by Everards and both the decor and beers have got better. We ordered pizzas, which were ok but a little 'pre-fabricated', not freshly made - hopefully their other food options (only pizza on the Thursday we visited) have improved, will find out next time.

Lovely outside area, with sheltered area, which is non smoking. Amazing pizza and salad.

Great pub with excellent choice of ales and lagers. It's dog friendly as owners have lovely sight hound that lives there. The staff are friendly especially the girl from Poland that loves cats.

One of those pubs that has had a decent face-lift. Good sized garden to rear. Friendly staff and decent range of draught drinks.

Great pub and garden. The drinks were cheap and still good. We had a medium white wine and a pint and only cost £8. The food also looked good. We didn't order any as we had already eaten.

Lovely cafe. Had a small veggie breakfast and a coffee and it was really nice and fulfilled me up. Coffee was very good. Service was good and they even had a resident cat!

Haven't been for ages. Its a great place and the quiz was good fun.

Typical local pub mixed with students and regulars. Prices slightly higher than other pubs on Narborough Rd.

Very slow most times. Their CEO needs to sort out getting drivers on their way instead of banging on about driver shortages on TV. 3 hours to tio 8 Palletts.

My first visit to the cafe. Enjoyed a nice coffee and chocolate fudge cake in a pleasant environment.

The full breakfast was just what we needed to cure our hangovers from the night before! Great food and very friendly staff serving us! We’ve found our new local!!

One of the highlights of our home rugby games is the meet up of friends pre match and we do this at the Western Friendly staff ,good choice of ales and food also available Dog friendly and also incorporates a cafe Give it a try you won’t be disappointed

Nice clean pub nowadays..decent pint and now serving food,hence my review..a rare foray to the cafe area by myself proved a wise choice..had a great pizza..fresh ingredients and great taste..i got more than i bargained for..i'll be there in an hour

Mix of older and newer drinkers without the tension. Serves a tiger which is a must in Leicester.

Nice outdoor area has been recently refurbished into café bar probably to cater for the large student population in the area disappointed by limited selection of beers when I went but hopefully that will improve

One of my absolute favourites in the west end. A hidden gem!

The new refurbishment looks great but it now shuts at 8pm on a Sunday. We weren't given any warning apart from the 10 minute bell so had to drink quickly, which wasn't very responsible...

Dog friendly, the BEST cheesy chips, good coffee, fantastic cake. Highly recommend.

Cracking pint of San Miguel in here! It might be a bit a more expensive than other bars in the west end, but it is definitely worth it.

This is the place to be in the West end of Leicester, good food, theatre and delightful bar staff...go in ask for George say James sent you....and he will look after you!!!!!

Man with glasses was patronising arrogant and just plain rude . Was very sarcastic when speaking to us . I think he’s forgetting that without customers your pub will go bust . Will be going nine bar instead on Match days now !

Terrible owners very rude on match days been going round there since 2012 and They’ve completely killed the pub definitely not going again!! Really disappointed. Don’t recommend it for football So ridiculously rude

James the landlord at the western is a great example of a community pub landlord. .. he spots the difficult folk and deals with them equally those in the community who are vulnerable. ..he supports them with dignity and respect Great leadership skills
