Northern Cobbler in Leicester

Wasn’t given my change. Wrong coffees received. Many out of stock items on the menu. Poached eggs over cooked. Replacement took 20 mins. Won’t be returning.

Nice coffees and teas. Food was tasty but the rotis in the beef hash weren’t crispy. Flatbread was more tortilla-ish but was delicious. Cakes and cookies were incredible.

Super lovely atmosphere , great friendly staff and really tasty coffee! A lovely little place to stumble upon :)

This is a delight little brunch spot on the corner of clarendon park road. It can be somewhat difficult to find parking but the street permit area is only until 10:30am on weekdays. The food was delicious, quickly served and presented beautifully. Enjoyed and highly recommended.

Admittedly one of my favourite coffee shops; a place I use regularly for socials, meetings and as a place to work; and, somewhere where they know my order before I've placed it

£27 for 2 coffees and 2 'toasties' (quesadillas) Toastie 1: Bernard Matthews turkey slice + cheese slice. Toastie 2: 'Korean' shredded beef in sauce (95% sugar), with some cucumber slices. Kids meal sizes, fast food quality, fine-dining prices.

Tasty food and drinks. I think that sometimes their takeaway cups smell fishy? The drink is always okay once I pour it into another cup. Sometimes their “gluten free” cookies or brownies are touching up against things that have gluten.

Staff allowed a customer who was obviously not in the queue to push in front of me just because he had finished deciding what he wanted. What the hell kind of customer service is that? Lol. Go Tiny Bakery or Cake Origin instead. Yet to encounter idiotic customers or poor customer service in either.

Entró a la sucursal de Queens Road. Estaba esperando una edad para ser servido. Una rebanada de pastel me la dieron en una bolsa de papel aunque nos la estábamos comiendo. Tuve que pedir un plato, no hay cubiertos disponibles u ofrecidos. La mesa permaneció sin limpiar o limpia. Tuvimos que hacerlo nosotros mismos. El café era una taza muy pequeña por el precio y el pastel estaba seco y terrible. 2 cafés y una rebanada de pastel por £ 12. 00:00 con el mal servicio. No malgastaré mi dinero aquí de nuevo. Terrible servicio y comida y café muy caros. El lugar y la decoración de la cafetería es precioso y puedo ver cómo atrae a una multitud, pero el servicio y la calidad era horrible.

Amazing pancakes. Only wished the hot chocolate mug had a handle so that I could lift it to drink.

Did get what we ordered and wasn't told the sourdough bread had ran out, they just brought out shop bought white bread, don't think I would go back there.

Just quick visit to this little cafe, hot chocolate was good, as was the chipotle chicken sandwich Will definitely go again

Lovely food but very slow service. The manager/owner needs to hire more staff to cope with demand and ensure they order enough supplies as they are always running out of key ingredients.

I come here on average about three times a week at the end of a walk around the local park with my dog. As you are no longer allowed to take a dog inside the staff have always been happy to take the order at the entrance and bring it outside. Not at all happy with the guy working today who took my order but no coffee appeared after waiting 15 minutes. Someone went inside to remind them, it was busy but I was happy to wait in the sun outside. After a further 15 minutes still no sign of the coffee and after further enquiries it was clear they had no intention of serving me. This is poor service to a regular customer, it would have taken little effort to simply say it was too busy to bring a coffee outside. I assume you no longer want my custom, A shame as they serve nice coffee.

This is our local! Zoe and I are here most days - a welcome break from WFH and home renovations. The food is simple but exceptional limited choice but something gif everyone. Seems to pull in a wonderfully diverse mix of people that gives it great energy and the lo-fi brings it all together. The service is excellent - super-friendly, professional and energised. Special thanks to the awesome, friendly team that make the place - Lily, Tally. Zosha, Ala, Connor and Bandana Guy (sorry I will get your name). As a local resident I believe in supporting local businesses or stand to lose them. Why would you pay a big chain for a “so-so”experience when you could gain and impart so much more from a local business manned by passionate people?!

It saddens me to post this bad review as a previous regular at Northern Cobbler. I’ve ordered coffee, food and cakes there on many an occasion. I’ve worked from there with my laptop regularly too. I’ve always enjoyed the tasty food, smooth coffee and calming decor. However the service today and in recent times has declined massively. Today the reaction was cold, blunt and unwelcoming and not like the Northern Cobbler of old. I appreciate I had a dog and wasn’t planning to have my dog inside. I was just enquiring about being able to order coffee and pastries to enjoy outside. A shame but I’ll take my business elsewhere until things are back to the previous high standards.

Love the coffee, decor and food. Sadly, the service has fallen off a cliff. Used to be a regular but now I shall be taking my business elsewhere. Walked in and was immediately made to feel unwelcome by the chap there. No apologies, no offer to take our order outside. The first action was to make us feel as unwelcome as possible. I really hope you do sort this out as there is so much potential for this to be a great cafe.

Been meaning to visit here for ages, and very glad I did. Lovely interiors both inside and out, friendly staff - and definitely the best salmon and cream cheese bagel I've had. Will definitely be coming back. Some comfier seating would be a dream.

Beautiful minimal cafe with a beautiful aesthetic, fine coffee and delicious sweets. Perhaps one of the juiciest cakes I've eaten in England (usually they tend to be very dry). When the weather permits, there are also tables outside to enjoy the sun. If you are in the area it is worth a visit.

I moved to Clarendon 6 months ago and Northern Cobbler is one of the star highlights ⭐️ Their food is incredible, to the point I’ve become addicted to their breakfast pancakes. The atmosphere is amazing and I can’t wait for the summer to use their outdoor seating. It does get busy on weekends but that’s only testament to the quality of their coffee and food. The staff are all lovely. The prices are also super reasonably considering the quality of their food ⭐️ Some stools with cushions would be my only improvement!

Terrible decaf coffee. Asked for a long black - received a single shot Americano! Barista did kindly give me an additional shot when I discussed with them. They use pre ground decaf coffee and the barista just used a tea spoon to add the coffee to the portafilter! The decaf is weak, bland and extremely disappointing for a so called "speciality" coffee shop. The baristas are not knowledgeable about coffee and have poor technique. If you are looking for speciality coffee go elsewhere

Gem of a place. Forgot one item on our order but quickly resolved.

After 2, maybe even 3 bad customer service, once on my birthday. I thought I would give them a final chance. But again, this morning, I was deeply let down by my experience. Every time the food or coffee has taken too long, I end up being served last after a bunch of regulars come in and clearly order after me, the staff being moody not cracking a smile, and not really addressing me/acknowledging me I thought I would say something. I usually don't leave bad reviews, but hopefully this will make the owner send the staff on some sort of customer service course and get an injection of joy/passion/warmth. I love supporting indies, but won't be going back. I am sure this won't matter as CP regulars will still go, but if people dislike their jobs, they should find something else to do.

30 something customers with laptops (Oooooh, get him!). Not usually the venue for oldies like me. Bit pricey but where isn't. Fancy veggie sandwiches and pastries. Good view of passers by at the Clarendon Pk Rd/Queens Rd junction. Parking horrendous cos all the university staff park around here. On a sunny day park near De Montfort Hall and walk to Queens Rd across Victoria Park

Disappointed 😞 My latte cup was full of chips around the drinking rim. I asked for another cup. The waitress replied that most of them have chips. She did manage to find me an unchipped latte cup. Northern Cobbler You may have to look at replacing some of your crockery. Until then I would be reluctant to use this establishment.

Ordered hot chocolate...was tasty but... warm and tiny cup. Probably only warm as it was served in handleless cups... looks good but....

Too expensive for what it is. Matcha was nice, dark grade. Mocha was okay.

Lovely place visually, however the softplay is very overpriced for what it is. It’s beautiful to look at but not enough there to stay the 2 hours. £10 is a lot compared to bigger places that offer a less price. Beaut chai latte x

I have to agree with some of the reviews on here that the food is horrendously expensive for what it is! Small coffee and 2 cookies..... £10.60!!!!!! It's not Chelsea it's Leicester!!!!! And the chai was gritty. Yeah not the best, avoid unless you've just won the lottery!

First visit today for a spot of lunch and a coffee with my young son. Food was really delicious and quick to be produced. Coffee could have been a little warmer & no decaf tea. Table was a little wobbly but a lovely atmosphere & definitely worth a visit.

I love your Queens Road place to order probably the BEST oat milk flat white I have ever tasted. But just wanted to shout out for the incredible team over the Radio 2 weekend where they didn't stop for the entire weekend. Service never faltered, the coffees were amazing and they all need a paid vacation or a bonus. IF you're ever in Leicester, please stop by and try them out!

Really enjoyed the eggs on sourdough with salmon and my partner had with avocado. Also enjoyed granola & yoghurt and would travel considerable distance to have it again!! Can’t go wrong here!!

We frequently visit the Northern Cobbler at Billesdon, where we enjoy the coffee and the ambience with friendly and capable staff. However we recently visited on Bank holiday Sunday morning and felt compelled to comment on the exceptional organisation, efficiency and skill of the staff (Luba) working initially on her own. A group of cyclists joined an already busy coffee shop ordering food and drinks. It was unbelievable the way she managed the situation with such calmness and dignity never getting flustered. Not only did we get all the drinks and food everyone had requested it remained at a high standard and the presentation was immaculate. We were so impressed we wanted to express this to the staff concerned and owners of the business. Thank you, you were amazing.

45 min for a moca and the moca wasn't iven good.

Me and the family had a wonderful time here. The atmosphere is the best in the area. The manager Talitha was bright and bubbly and really made us feel at home. Had us laughing no end. Herself and Lily really made the experience even better as the food was wonderful and the coffee of course. You can buy their house roast and others at the till and we made sure we did. You've definitely got a returning customer in us. Thank you!

One of the best atmosphere around for a cafe, it’s quite, clean and has great range of food and drinks! The staff are absolutely amazing the two amazing staff I met were Ala and Zofia, they really made the experience really enjoyable and made me feel very welcomed! Would definitely go back !

Had a lovely coffee with cream and a twist of fruit, so nice and different. Regular coffees with alternative milks available and vegan cream. Lovely atmosphere in central Clarendon Park with shops... altogether a nice area 😊

We went on a Sunday 'Brunchtime' with a couple of friends. We all had bagels, granola coffee and a cake each. All of the food was great, as well as the coffee. Would thoroughly recommend going if you're in the area.

Nice vibe, feels very brick lane which is cool in Leicester. Importantly though the coffee is verryy good. But just like the London vibes, it has London prices, expensive for area but quality. As I've read in other reviews I have to agree slightly that the staff seemed disinterested which did hinder my score for this place.

Interesting place to stop for lunch. We had the vegetarian bagel with pesto, avocado and mozzarella. Impossible to eat daintily without cutlery. It was served in a bamboo lidded basket. Coffee was good. Cafe was busy with one lady occupying a table for 4 and working on a laptop. Can imagine it being difficult to find a table at busy times.

This much hyped Queen Road coffee shop was a total let down. Poor, over roasted coffee. You can get better locally& I suggest that you so.

No child options available at all (however, there is a child menu section) Charged full price for a bagle when I had asked for it to only come with cream cheese and nothing else stated on the menu (for a child, as there was no other option) Turkey is the sliced packet variety, not what I had expected at all. One meal ordered came out cold, was sent back to be microwaved and then returned with only half of what had been taken away on the plate. Finally received a refunded after two oddly rude staff questioned us on this. What we belive to be the manager then told us that most items are made off site and then reheated (I assume microwaved) however, still arrive cold?

I've been in this cafe several times and feel likes it always let down by the customer service. The food and coffees are food but staff are constantly on their phones or chatting to each other ignoring customers and sometimes it takes a long while to be acknowledged and get your order. I have experienced this a lot and judging by other comments this is a continuous problem.

The place is beautiful but wow their service is sooo bad. I’ve stood waiting to order for like 10 minutes at the counter, at one point. They didn’t even acknowledge my present. Eventually just sat down and used their space for an hour to get some work done for free, their loss!

Excellent Service. Had the Oat Latte and Oat Mocha, both delicious. Had the salmon bagel and the dory bagel. Portions were variable as the dory was bigger than the salmon bagel but the quality was undeniable! Would definitely come back.

Croissant and two of the latte options (eg. Pumpkin spice) were out of stock on a Sunday morning. Not pleased. But they did have flatbread and bagels so we ordered those. Overall quite satisfied with the food, atmosphere, lighting, seating.

One of my favourite places to come for coffee. Had a lovely interaction with Emma this morning who remembered my coffee order. Would recommend to anyone!

Always loved this place on queens road but the service really lets this place down and unfortunately we will not be returning. The staff are constantly on their phones, ignore customers. They actually finished a text before serving a customer, when we enquired about a size of coffee they laughed then said they don’t do medium lattes and proceeded to chat with their other colleague. The server was particularly rude, the staff before were brilliant, whilst we appreciate its busy time on a sunday, this was unacceptable. Will be going the bildeson store should we return from now on (staff are great there!)

Went here recently for lunch with a colleague. Not particularly impressed overall. Service was average. They seemed to have an issue with stock as they were really limited on cold drinks and also no kimchi in my bagel regardless of it being listed as a key ingredient. Probably the worst part though was the coffee wasn’t great and assumed it would be. Decor is very nice though. Maybe just an off day as with a few tweaks could be much better

Why do you only ever have one person working at any one time? Reading the reviews this is common theme for a long period of time and the same excuse given? The poor girl today was on her own with a shop full of people and constant stream of customers. I watched 5 customers walk out in an hour (took me 30mins to get my order and 30 mins to drink to make my time waiting worth it) and the revue lost from this would far outweigh the cost of the extra staff. PLUS, have some pride in the business you are running and the service you are giving!? Tables dirty, coffee cold and sloppily made (not the servers fault she was trying her best) this is purely a management / ownership shortfall. Awkward environment with people too polite to leave after ordering / huffing about the wait. I only come here because it is convenient for me and I dont fancy the Costa nearby or the weird looking Cafe across the road but the service is getting worse each time. Also - always a different server on the shift? Coffee is nice when they get it right though

We deeply miss the EPIC galletes that the Northern Cobbler used to do, as such we no longer come here half as much. Still, a pretty decent coffee shop with some nice looking food

The coffee was alright but they took over 20 minutes to serve the 2 people ahead of me. (They only ordered coffee) Server treated me with disregard compared to their older customers.

Waited 45 minuted for a latte. Had to repeat the order 3 times at the till, then again at the counter. Barista disputed what I had ordered but lucky for me she was yet to make the drink so I made sure the order was written down correctly for the 4th time.

So ordered 4 coffees - 20 mins later not even started to prepare. Asked for a refund and left, barista didn’t seem too bothered. won’t be going back. Wasted my time enough to warrant me writing a review.

Popped in yesterday morning . Basic small menu, nothing wrong with that. However despite the menu offering 4 different types of preserve for my toast they could only offer strawberry jam! Also the toast arrived cold. Secondly my son wanted a bagel & there was a long winded talk with the kitchen as to wether they had the ingredients for what he wanted. Thirdly I wanted to take a salt beef bagel away with me for later & those ingredients were also not available! Absolutely no excuse for not having these items available. The food & coffee also arrived with no serviettes or sugar. Staff uninterested & were not engaging with customers. Not good enough will not return.

Subjective access to wifi. Could not log in with two different devices and was told the password was correct. Although two other customer were able to log in, when one of them was asked they recalled the password to be something else. Good strategy to keep people moving along. What a shame as i would have spent more money in there had i had access to work. Banana cake was lovely though.

Popped in this morning for a coffee whilst killing time. It was nice and beautifully presented, they even used my favourite oat milk which was a plus. Unfortunately I think 3.50 for a flat white and 20p extra for oat milk was a bit pricey for what I got. That said staff were lovely and the interior is great

The place is cute and quiet , the coffee is also pretty good . Having said that, the prices are quite inflated for the product and for the area, (for exemple the croissant is 4£…)

I popped in with my little boy for a quick drink. The chap working there was really friendly and made a glorious looking hot chocolate. It was a relaxed and nice environment and the coffee was really tasty. My only criticism is that the table was a bit sticky and could have done with a good clean. We will definitely be back again.
