Just visited for light snack but ended up taking up the 2 steaks and drinks offer. We had 8oz bistro rump and 10oz rump. Both were cooked to perfection, arrived promptly and with a smile 😄 service and food 5*

Food good, staff good. Interior a bit dated but clean. Nice place for a very resonable meal out.

Standard menu, was told gluten free items are mentioned on the menu. They were not. Online has different items for gf food but not available. When the cutlery came it was dirty, had to ask staff member to replace. Ordered southern fried chicken burger and was dry and did not tate right. The jacket potato was so small and some of the toppings were not available. Butter didn't melt like it should. I would not come back here. I received no decent customer service and the food was not good.

We go quite often for lunch & the good is always very nice & the service is usually very friendly & cheerful apart from one of the gentlemen who serves behind the bar who’s a bit miserable (hence a one star deduction)

Wife and I visited today and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the Beef Lasagne and Salad. Nice big portion and hot, including the middle of the Lasagne; and believe me I have many at other places which are boiling hot on the outside but tepid in the middle. The salad was fresh and crunchy and the side of garlic bread nicely toasted. Wife had Gammon which was lean and well done as she asked. Chips with it were hot and tasty. Only minor fault was the ladies toilet which I was told was a little grubby. All in all though a really good dining experience. We will be back.

This is a “does what it says on the tin” British pub. The staff were nice, attentive and friendly. The food was okay. Generous portions for the price. The pub itself could use a bit of an update (especially the toilets) but tables, cutlery etc were all clean.

Called in last evening for a meal. Good choice on the menu and good prices too. My friend is gluten intolerant and she asked if the flat white coffee was made with soya or oat milk. The manager Karl with a K said no but he'd pop next door to the shop and get some, and off he went. We were both amazed at such excellent service. Well done to all the staff 👍🏼

Had a lovely meal, one of the staff, Karl was fantastic, I forgot to book a table and we had our granddaughter Tessa with us and she got very upset cos we hadn't got a table, Karl went out of his way to accommodate us all, would recommend the cedars, 5 stars

Had a lovely meal here with a friend. Can recommend the steak and ale pie. My friend had cottage pie which she loved. Plenty to eat and if you have room for a dessert after the ample mains there is a large choice of desserts. Also lunchtime special deserts for £1.50. we both had one of those and enjoyed the chocolate ice-cream sundae.

I loved the ambience definitely i will come back.

Good sized portions at a decent price. Menu contains enough variety to choose from. Seating is limited however never had a problem as long as have booked a table ahead of time regardless of the party size. Service is usually fairly quick also.

We went for lunch as a group of 19 ramblers. It was £6.50 for a lunch main meal, and as there were so many of us I expected a lengthy wait. The food came out very promptly and was very very nice and unbelievable value for money. Very highly recommended, and they also have some great deals during the week for two mains and wine or prosecco.

Was a good lunch here. Service was quick even during a busy period. Food was nice and atmosphere was pleasant. Not too loud. Only downside was a lot of broken glass in the outdoor area.

Come here every new year day and it never disappointes. Food always great. Serves awesome. And the atmosphere is very old fashion. Great family meet up restaurant. I recommend the cheesos, mack and chees bits and halloimie frise

Visited the Cedars for Christmas lunch with the family. As ever, the meal was Excellent, and Karl and the team were very attentive and ensured that everyone was looked after. We have visited the Cedars for years, and Karl has done a terrific job in creating a family-friendly eating experience. Well done Karl and the team.

Food quality is really bad, ordered a burger, and it was plain with only bun and small chicken pattie with no salad or any sauce. Drinks are good, food is a definite miss

Large party so perhaps the reason for a disappointing meal. Mushroom risotto, reheated in the microwave, with full roast veg (frozen). Shame!

Work Christmas lunch, informal. Was great selection, good food, good service

As a group of Womble litter pickers, we enjoy picking an area so that we can have lunch at the Cedars. The lunch time menu is such good value, with excellent choices also on their main menu. We are never short of choices of what to eat although we all have our favourite dishes. The food is really excellent quality. No matter how busy the pub is, we never have to wait long for our food. The staff are really welcoming, especially Carl on the bar and the waiting staff. Having lunch out at the Cedars makes a morning picking up other people’s litter more enjoyable.

The Cedars is our favourite place to eat a good stake! The offer for two stakes and the bottle of wine is a great buy! The stakes are full of flavour, and the place is great!

Ok so came here for lunchtime food, there were three of us. We sat down, and one of us went to the bar to place an order. We were 3rd in the queue, and it took 15 mins before we got to place the order. Behind the bar was I believe was the manager, he looked very unsteady on his feet, and had slurred speech. It took 10 mins to place our order, and 3 drinks. We got our drinks, and thought that was it. But no, this guy totally lost the plot, couldn't operate the till or the order system, it took a further 15 mins, at which point he gave up and said I'll sort out our later. We sat down, but weren't convinced, so we collard another waitress to check if our order was in the kitchen. Lo and behold, no order. She apologised and put the order on the system within 3 mins. Food came out within 15 mins from then and was not bad. As we were walking out, people at the bar waiting to be served by the manager, were left in shock, as he decided to go across the road to the shop without any word. Rest of the staff great, the manager is either totally drunk, or on some heavy medication, in both cases, should not be working.

OK food and drink, prompt service and friendly staff. One star rating unfortunately due to the amount of dog mess there is in the garden. The garden where children are free to run around and play! It's absolutely disgusting and absolute laziness that noone is checking and cleaning up regularly at the start/end of the working day - please change your practice before some poor child ends up catching something!

So we popped in as a family met by a grumpy guy behind the bar bit lewis capaldi looking mardy very unhelpful...i was expecting good things as heard this was the place to go for a steak/mixed grill....i had the mighty mixed grill £16 and i must say the quality of food was poor steak was chewy the liver was horrendous taste i wont go into to much detail but for sure i won't be returning!

We went to the restaurant as a group. On arriving at the restaurant, we had to wait an awfully long time to order our drinks at the bar due to a long queue. When we finally got to the front of the queue, the reason for the delay became apparent… the gentleman we understand was the manager was very visibly inebriated, acting erratically and slurring his words. (Judging by other staffs reactions, this wasn’t a one off) We asked said manager to put our food order through, which he did… Incorrectly! When we finally received our correct food, most of it was extremely dry and disappointing. Made worse by our view of the courtyard with 3-4 rats scurrying around. Disgusting - many of us were put off our food. The poor staff were run ragged made only worse by their unprofessional managers state. Admittedly, the majority of the bar staff don’t deserve this rating as they did their best to pick up the pieces, but the whole experience was a disaster from start to finish. Definitely do not recommend.

Great food. Service is relatively fast, and staff are pleasant. A little pricey for a family of 4 but I think that's just due to the general cost of living.

Had lunch here while visiting a relative nearby. They do a great meal deal with a good selection. Its obviously very popular. Very pleasant and service is excellent.

Had a fabulous meal at the cedars. went with the wife and father in law. Ordered the special steak with a free bottle of red wine. steaks cooked to perfection. mine host Carl was as convivial as he always is and really cares about giving his patrons his full attention. Well recommend a visit .

Went to my Wife's cousins Birthday lunch on January 16th, there were 7 family members in total, the food and service were both excellent, none of us could fault it, the place was very clean and the staff were all friendly and efficient, I would not hesitate to go back for a meal again, keep up the good work!

When u order minted lamb chops and when it comes out the mint sauce bowl is bigger than the chops.... take away later...

I drunk a coffee here and I got sick afterwards. The bar side smells terrible like sewage. I ordered since I’m in already. I don’t know how they are washing dishes and what did they put inside the coffee. Hygiene rate should be “1” Absolutely disappointed.

Always get a nice meal here . We especially love their steak specials but I recently had their lunch special burger with bacon cheese - loved it

We were greeted as we walked in by friendly bar staff and pointed in the direction of the dining area it was ultra clean fresh nicely furnished, orderd the food and drinks arrived quick it was superb and plenty of it. Cant fault the restaurant would definitely go back again.

Family came down from Birmingham so we decided to take them to the Cedars. Had a thoroughly good time. Lovely meal, good atmosphere! Will be back for Xmas 👍

friendly service and its quite clean in the food area but carpet is coming up in the ladies toilets I did tell them about it some time ago but nothing seems to been done its a safety issue as could quite easily trip over the carpet on the way in and it wouldn't take much to sort it out they could quite easily glue it back down or take the carpet up and lay tiles down or some other floor covering apart from that the toilets are quite clean considered its a very old pub but landlords are doing a great job in maintaining the place so 10/ 10 to them both and I will return when I'm next in Leicester

The pub is ok,but needs to train the staff better,as I asked for a drink and the staff said they didn't have it,I had to point the drink out on the shelf for them,as they didn't even know what it was🤦🏻‍♀️

We went here last night as a spare of the moment thing and can’t wait to visit again! With 3 adults & 5 children the Food was delicious, staff amazing and super prices. Would highly recommend a visit with such beautiful hearty food!

Absolutely horrible food. One of the dishes tasted like sick. The meat on the mix grill was like rubber and the batter on the fish had that much oil in it you could ring it out like a bit of washing and see all the oil leak out not drip out leak out.its a shame you have to give it a star because it doesn't deserve one.

Lovely setting in the garden, good atmosphere. Great food. Luckily for us it was dog friendly so we could take our lady friend into the bar and garden area. I would rate higher but as we were sat in the garden area, and to be fair the order we placed the requests were not listened to and order was wrong, but because we waited so long for food we didn't bother complaining as we also had a 2 year old guest who was getting agitated. I would rate higher again if service is better and staff listen and and behave a bit less robotic, maybe the job wouldn't be so bad. Everyone loves a bubbly waiter/ waitress.

First time out for a meal since the pandemic, i felt extremely safe here, all customers and staff followed covid rules excellently.we booked online day before we went via there website king henrys taverns, used to go here a-lot before covid, the staff were all friendly and all followed covid rules, was taken to our table had our order taken. I had the vegetable lasagna was delicious and my partner had the 24oz steak was cooked to his liking med-rare all as always excellent price drinks very good priced too all and all the bill cae to £30 i think thats very good we also had sides of mushrooms and onion rings.We will definitely be visiting again soon!

Went on the eve of the second lockdown, although busy staff very friendly, nothing was too much trouble, food was well cooked, tasted really good, and excellent value for money, definitely will go again once lockdown is lifted.Well done team fantastic job, in very different and difficult circumstances.

Terrible slow service! Ordered mains and then waited over 30 minutes for sauce and still did not come, by that time by desert had come out but had not started my mains at all! My mains was cold and my desert was on the table, no sauces or drinks that I ordered, manager was very rude as well.

Lovely setting and good traditional menu. My picky son was disappointed that there was no option for non-spicy chicken burger (2 kids burgers apparently wasn't good enough!) But the rest of us were very happy. Beer was very drinkable.

Went for a meal with the family, unfortunately it was really poor standard. Everything was completely overcooked and dry. Out of the four meals only one was eaten and that was a carbonara. Will not be returning.

This was our first outing since the start of lock-down and it was such a disappointment. We didnt feel entirely 'safe'. On the surface they were doing the right things, we were met at the door, our names taken and phone number. We were then shown to our seat. I use a walking frame and we were led down a number of steps which I found difficult. Our meals and drinks were ordered and paid for at the bar. Both were delivered to our table. The meal was a let down, we both had a Gammon Steak, this was overcooked , therefore difficult to cut, chew and was dry.I noticed when other people left , their table was cleared , but I didn't see and sanitiser used. On our way out, me having to pull my self up by the hand rails, which were sticky, as were the handles in the ladies toilets. I have been a regular customer of the Cedars for a long time, but I don't think I will be in the future. By the way we saw no hand sanitiser around, fortunately I had some in my handbag.I don't know if its new management new cook or trainee staff. Whatever, the Cedars have certainly gone down hill with a bump.

Lovely fajitas - thankyou to all the hard working staff at the cedars for the lovely food we had tonight . Yes there was a wait - what did people expect given boris’s 50% off idea - when the food came it was as good as ever - unlike the customer floor show that followed . The only thing I would have changed is when we walked in being told the waiting time , it may have made people with small children who needed feeding waiting

What a brilliant idea selling fresh and frozen stock food now pub closed during Corvid 19 outbreak I bought lots of nice meat and groceries with minimal contact Hope this helps them keep afloat until outbreak resolved, and their suppliers too I’ll be back

It's had its ups and downs over the years but my recent visit indicates that The Cedars is set to become the go to pub in Evington once more. Friendly staff and good quality no nonsense pub food at an affordable price make it a good choice any day of the week. Its new manager is promising to make some adventurous improvements in the near future. Watch this space.

Visited yesterday with a friend for the first time. We took advantage of the midweek 'meal deal'. Selected mains at just £5 plus optional dessert at only £1! And you think Wetherspoons is cheap? Quality of food excellent and staff very friendly. Would definitely return.

Myself and my family went for a meal at the Cedars and we're extremely impressed.The service from all staff members was great with nothing being to much trouble upon any of our requests. We ate the set Menu for 4 people, the options are great for all the food. The food came out hot and all at the same time. The steaks were cooked perfect and all the children food was served at the perfect temperature. After having an amazing meal the desert was just as good and served at the perfect temp. The draught beers were also very good with a large choice for any drinker. My overall experience was excellent and I will certainly be visiting there again on a regular basis.
