The gardens were lovely, however we wanted to have tea in the topiary garden. So disappointing. The scones were awful they were so hard! ( it's not difficult to make a fresh scone). Paper cups, paper basin for the scone and victoria sponge. Cardboard knives! Cardboard spoons ! What ever has happened to enjoying a piece of cake and a cup of tea on a proper plate. Has this lackadaisical attitude evolved since lockdown? (It seems the case in many other places too). Or are we becoming a "can't be bothered society".

There is seating both outside on the garden patio and inside. We didn't sample the cream tea or cakes but they did look very inviting. We opted for Quiche with salad and Tortilla Crisps, and a pot of tea. We were asked if we would like the quiche hot which we did but it was served warm and soggy, and suspect it was heated in a microwave which ruined the pastry. The salad was minimal with one cherry tomato cut in half and just a few crisps a chunky slice of bread or roll would have been better. The tea bags were not infused and the water in the pot was not hot enough and we suspect it had not boiled.

Lovely homemade cake and lots of tea and smiles. Went with a group of friends on a groupon. Very well worth the price.

The experience we had in the tearoom was quite frankly atrocious. We were told to sit at a table whilst waiting to be served, after half an hour we enquired about ordering and we're told it was self service and that there was queue and we had to wait. The waiter was extremely rude and told us that's our rules with no apology for our wait. Once we'd ordered our sandwiches and drinks, we were told our champagne afternoon tea was actually a prosecco afternoon tea , we sat down and waited. Sandwiches were fresh but waiter served wrong sandwiches not from menu and argued that they were until we showed him to prove him wrong, scones hard and terrible,, cheap jam and not much for an in plastic sachets, only two cake choices or ice cream! Most unusual afternoon tea. It was not cheap and we were not given an extra teabag when topping up the tea! Overall a very expensive disappointment and would not recommend to anyone, no ambience and rude staff.
