Great nights especially the quiz!

Fantastic pub, great atmosphere, great food and plenty of seating inside and out. Wide selection of drinks and there's even a selection of board games for use!

I visited for breakfast before football and although a little pricey I gotta admit the food was lovely, I had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on sourdough toast and I gotta admit the eggs were perfect just how I like them and the service was great, overall a very good experience, I did only give 4 outta 5 star because there always room for improvement.

Ordered a drink online via there website...states that you can order... upon my surprise the Manager come out and said sorry we don't do this service and money don't go in the til... 2 days later money stil showing its Been taken out of my account... will not be going back again... avoid the online ordering as you won't get it

Poor service, chicken not cooked, missing items, very very very long wait for substandard food, will never go back as no real effort made by management/staff for a disastrous meal.

We have been visiting The Welli for at least 10 years and have never been disappointed The rooms are well appointed, the food ample and interesting, including imaginative vegetarian options. Most importantly the staff are courteous and helpful. We'll be back!

Not great. I had the sweet potato, spinach, and chickpea veggie curry. There were only three bits of sweet potato, no spinach, and no chickpeas. They should rename the dish A pile of rice in curry sauce. Very disappointed

We have just stayed here for the 4th time in the last few months due to a host of appointments at Southmead Hospital. The food is out of this world and second only to the brilliant and friendly team. We have to put a special shout out to Rebecca, Emma and Ava who have just been amazing on every single visit and make us feel so welcome. Thank you all and we will be back soon

Me and my friends had been coming to this pub for months with absolutely no issues, it’s a lovely pub and the staff are lovely. However, tonight our experience within this pub completely changed. We were told we were being refused service as apparently my friend had made a member of staff “very uncomfortable”. We accepted this and were getting up to leave when the manager turned around and very rudely said across the pub garden “oh, and don’t come back”. This entire conversation should’ve happened away from other customers and if the issue was that much of a problem we would’ve expected her to pull my friend aside and explain the situation. The reason this staff member felt uncomfortable was because he was talking to my friend for weeks beforehand and suddenly switched up on her. He has very clearly stated since then we were welcome in the pub, which is exactly why we were so confused as to why Number 1 we were being asked to leave and Number 2 why we were asked in such a rude manner. If you know a staff member, don’t bother going. If it goes tits up BECAUSE OF THEM you’ll get banned for absolutely no reason.

Un menú bastante estándar para un restaurante pub, y la elección no es enorme, especialmente porque 2 platos estaban apagados a las 7 p. m., pero nuestros filetes eran grandes y sabrosos y cocinados raro como se pidió. Las patatas fritas parecían estar hechas en casa. El precio era razonable. No es alta cocina pero muy buena en su categoría.

Very very boring pub quiz. No atmosphere. No music. And no interaction with the customers. We left duting round 2 because it was so dull. Will not be back

We had a lovely Sunday lunch here today (February 23rd). They had a veggie option and a vegan one, with a big selection of vegetables, and crispy potatoes. All the staff were pleasant and efficient. Ella, who brought our bill, seemed genuinely pleased that we said we had a nice experience.

Visited with my husband for Sunday lunch. Staff are so lovely and the toast lunch was delicious. Good portions and really tasty

So very impressed with our stay here. Greeted by helpful and engaging staff, the bedroom is of a very good standard; super clean, tasteful fresh decor, comfortable bed, lovely big towels, Elemis products, Nespresso machine, great shower. Advise you get the breakfast, it’s delicious. We also ate here in the evening and enjoyed some great live music and wine. We loved talking to the staff who really added to our visit and gave us great recommendations. The Wellington is really well situated for public transport in and out of town with some great food venues near by. All in all, HIGHLY recommended and we will be back.

Atrocious! Just spent near to £50 on 2x meals and 2x beers. Our food was served 40 mins after order. It’s Wednesday night and not many people in the pub. It came out cold and tasteless and the portion was tiny. Pork tenderloin was the dish and 2nd most expensive meal on the menu. £18.50 guys for that!? We just left the pub and when the complaint was made we had an extremely unprofessional apology with the offer of a bag of crisps to take home. We left your pub hungry and wasted good money for not much in return. Your staff even suggested complaining on here, it’s not a good look for you. Such a shame as I have had 1x good experience at your pub. We shall not be returning for any food.

Our group of 4 people ate here recently. 3 of us had steak, which was perfectly cooked in each case. We were served by Ella, who regularly checked with us to ensure everything was ok, and who overall, provided really efficient and polite service. Would definitely recommend for a place to eat.

Third time in as many weekends. Best Sunday roast I've had in ages. Beef is amazing. Loads of food, great value and service is always spot on. No hanging around either, food is out on point 👌🏼

We visited for Sunday lunch i had Chicken and my wife had the Beef. My wife Beef was very chewy and requested if she can swap for the chicken, which the the staff did without any fuss. The roast chicken we had was very nice and the staff were extremely efficient and nothing was a problem. We have eaten here a handful of times and always found it of high standard for the food and staff.

Can't comment on the food, but it's a nice enough environment. However the selection and pricing of beers is poor. It's a St Austell brewery pub so sells their usual beers plus several virtually identical generic lagers. They do sell a single local craft ale, but this was off when I visited. Instead it cost me £6.75 for for some Macro IPA that tasted absolutely nothing at all like an IPA.

Great staff - very friendly and talkative. We only came here one night for their pub quiz. It was a fun night with different categories and great prizes to be won! We sadly didnt win the £75 prize pot but we won some shots :)

As my local, I frequently visit the 'welly' .Friendly staff, helpful and mostly knowledgeable. Quiz nights, live music mostly on a Friday night, pool table,darts board,board games available ,wifi ,food at bar and restaurant available. Garden with outside service bar (when weather permits) small childrens play area. I haven't sampled the on suit facilities in the hotel ,but people seem keen to book here.Allso bus routes are regular(mostly), and a direct route city centre is achievable.

Excellent Sunday Roast. Perfect crispy potatoes, perfectly cooked vegetables. Cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire pudding included. Lashings of gravy. Our waitress, Emma, topped it off by providing exceptional service. We have already booked for a future date.

Amazing Roast, very nice staff. Ella and Sophie were very friendly. The roast potatoes are some of the best I've had on a roast, the veg were cooked perfectly, the gravy was very tasty and Yorkshire pudding were a real success! Compliments to the chef!

Treated my family to the Wellington's festive Christmas menu this year and was blown away by the service and delicious set menu. Emma, our hostess, was wonderfully attentive and very welcoming. Even though we were the only family enjoying the festive menu that evening, Emma and team went above and beyond to decorate our table so beautifully and even included gorgeous Christmas crackers!! Would highly recommend the Wellington for dinner or lunch, the food is consistently good and service outstanding. Thank you again guys for a truly memorable evening and we'll be back next year for sure!! xx

My mother and I went out for lunch on Boxing day. Most places were closed. The Wellington was open. Inside, people were playing pool, drinking at the bar and having family dinners. Our meal was very tasty.

An evening for 9 hosted at the Wellington. Great food and service. Emma was fantastic. Would heartily recommend.

We came for a work Xmas lunch midweek, 8 of us. Owen helped us get seated (after our booking was ‘lost’) - but the food was great - a mixture of ribs, burgers, steaks - all good, especially the mash potatoes! The flat iron steak was pretty big! Owen was showing off his great memory for the drinks order! And Ella was very attentive at service at our table. Look forward to coming again soon!

I stayed in a hotel in town last time I visited and found it a bit of a sketchy area, so decided to try something a bit out of the main city… so glad I did! The car parking was a bit tricky (it’s small and I have a giant car) and it’s quite limited, but I arrived at 5 and got a space so I was happy… the staff are super lovely and gave me the tour on arrival, and brought me to my room. The room was a little chilly, and they gave me a space heater which was perfect and took the edge off! The bedroom itself is very spacious, clean and tidy, and the bathroom is lovely! I particularly enjoyed the rainfall shower! If I was being super super picky I might suggest steam cleaning the grout in the shower cubicle, but it looks no worse than my own shower at home, so I can’t complain. Overall i would give a 10/10 and look forward to coming back!

I took my youngest son here the day before a league football game as an added treat for his hard work dedication and determination throughout this year and we weren’t disappointed unfortunately the weather specifically storm Darragh had other plans for us….game cancelled couldn’t return home as bridges were closed then other routes and major roads and risking driving through smaller roads with flooding and trees falling would have been stupid and dangerous The staff at front of house especially Ava who I really must mention and thank were so fantastic and not only managed to help us stay an extra night when they were extremely busy but also did things for us that aren’t in her job description 🫶👍 The place is adorable and historic and cater to all…food was great, service too the only one thing was an attitude on one specific kitchen staff were I suggest it stays in the kitchen especially with that mouth in front of children and attitude but regardless of this one thing I really could not fault this place and everything about it Hopefully when the match is rescheduled we can return

We came for a midweek Christmas work's do, and had not been here for a few years, as we had previously been disappointed by our experience. However, this time couldn't have been more different. The service (Ella) was attentive and friendly, but thankfully, without constant interruptions. Each part of a Christmas dinner was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. It was also good value. We will definitely be back.

I organised my work Christmas party at The Wellington and had a wonderful time from start to finish. We served by Ava and Emma were lovely and made sure that our group of 20 were well looked after. The food was great and came out together which was amazing considering the size of the group. Thank you to The Wellington for a lovely evening!

lovley lovley lady Emma took great care of us today when we came for roasts. While they were very busy, they managed to squeeze us in and we had what i genuinly think was the best roast of my life. Lovely pub, with some good food, really fancied the t-bone pork steak, but unfortunately not available, so went for the fish and chips which was lovely, however, also wanted the chip shop curry sauce with it, which also wasn't available. Great staff, really friendly and will definitely head back in the near future

We went for the Sunday roast. The food was delicious. Portion sizes were perfect. Our server Emma was lovely and had really nice makeup :) Can’t wait to come back

Very nice hotel that I can definitely recommend. It is well located and you can take the bus directly from there to the city center. We had one of the rooms in the annex, which are newly renovated and spacious. I found it particularly creative that the hotel is well prepared for guests with dogs and offers extra services for this. Breakfast is also highly recommended.

Well I went out for a my Dad and Nans birthday to have a nice lunch. This was ruined by finding Bone in my De boned Turkey Roast dinner so I removed to bone I bit into and showed a member of staff Emma or Em as the manager calls her. I explained that I found some bone to be told it wasn't and it was Turkey skin and she was very abrupt in how she told me and then doubled down with oh the Chef said its not bone it was definitely skin. No offer to change my meat or be asked if I'd like to change my meal. She didn't ask if I was OK just rolled her eyes at me and the thought I couldn't hear her Bitching about me to another member of staff who was actually Great at her job. So I was completely put off my meal and asked for my roast to be refunded by the Nice staff member. I was offered a change but after the way my complaint was dealt with by Emma I was not hungry. I would like to point out that I am TYPE ONE DIABETIC I didn't eat a meal then paid for my family bill and then Emma approached me as we are all leaving. I told her I didn't want to talk to her and then I said her customer service was terrible and you shouldn't talk to customers like she did. She then told me she wanted to interject to my points I said I wasn't interested in listening. I continually tell her not to talk to me and I walked away to be then followed by Emma for her to Gloat and be smug and aggressive and tell me I was BANNED BY THE CHEF EMMA AND HER BOSS. All because I complained about bone in my food. Apparently you can't complain as the CHEF Em and manager Owen will BAN YOU FROM THE PUB. I hope that Head office watch their CCTV As the camera never lies unlike your staff I mentioned in the review. Was it because I'm Black and disabled you happily took my money then ban me/ my whole family of 14. Hope head office will see though your crap customer service and your pathetic lies that came out of your mouth Emma and to the Chef who clearly have a chip on their shoulders. I work in hospitality. Stay away from this place if you want a decent meal and nice staff only 2 of the people who worked their were friendly and helpful and pleasant.

One of the best Sunday lunches in Bristol! Great quality and even better portion sizes. It was super busy (of course) for a Sunday but the staff coped so well and gave impeccable service. Ava and Emma were AMAZING and took care of us, we couldn’t wish for better servers:)

We had a great afternoon. The food was excellent and there was plenty of it. As we had a relatively large group, with a couple of furry quadrupeds in tow, I was concerned that it might be difficult to get adequate space, but there was no need to worry. There was plenty of space for the humans and for the dogs.

I was on a hunt for a destination for a reunion weekend with a friend - somewhere half way between Hertfordshire to Plymouth. I am definitely not sorry I found The Wellington. I read the mixed reviews, and wasn't sure what to expect, but honestly, we both had the BEST time. From start to finish, the staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and professional. Nothing was too much. The room was super comfortable, and the.shower was a decent size - excellent Elemis toiletries, which was a treat! Our room included brekkie, and we both had the Breakfast Bap - which set us up for a day exploring Bristol. There are plenty of buses, but we decided to Uber our trips. It only cost about £13 to get into the City Centre. Easy Peasy. The hotel is very cosy, with great live music on a Friday night. There is a nice seating area at the rear of the pub, and a children's play area (as a parent, I know what a plus this is!). Service was spot on,and every member of staff we spoke to was an absolute gem, and clearly were working their socks off. We'd happily return - the food was excellent. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

I go here often with my family although mainly eat ad hoc. I went with my elderly parents so thought booking the restaurant would be a safe bet. Got a table no problem but that’s kind of where the benefits ended. Service was dreadful. Raised the fact we had waited so long at the point of having no starters but no apology was given - in fact the waitress said she’d been there since 10 and didn’t want to still be there and was just doing a favour. Totally fair enough that may be the case but all I was after was an apology and some service! We waited nearly an hour for the starter. We then asked for drinks - no one came for another 20 mins. Food tasted good when it did arrive - which was a good job because no one checked, but the whole haphazardness just ruined our evening. We then waited another 20 mins for plates to be taken. Once I’d paid someone came up but it was kind of too late then and whilst she said I could come back for a free drink another time that’s not really a thing many would feel comfortable asking for! I totally get sometimes restaurants are short staffed but all you need to do is communicate that not just leave people waiting. All of the others around us were also waiting a long time. Whilst I didn’t raise the points with this lady I had done with others so I wasn’t one of those people who say nothing and leave a poor review! It was just really overall a disappointing evening which should’ve been a nice occasion.

Expensive!! £5 for cheesey chips and you get about 12 chips.

Came in here for a Sunday roast - really impressed with the whole pub , good bar , lots of tables , a sit down area with table service but also bar area to accommodate for casual dinners . Outside area with a bbq (I think because of welly fest which was on) Food was - 7/10 I’ve paid more for much less tasty roasts. 16.75 for pork belly and the pork was delicious and didn’t charge for extra gravy. Veg was decent. I’m not a potato fan but probably wasn’t the best bit on the plate. Yorkshire was very good! Mac and cheese , very tasty ! Will be returning, staff put on sky sports for the football , and drinks were reasonably priced for how close to town !

Awful!!!!! And that's being polite. We came here for food, it took 45 minutes to get our drinks and then after a hour of sitting around we were was told our food hadn't been cooked yet !!!! It wasn't busy before they responded saying it was. this place used to be brilliant for service and food, do not bother going here, travel to the inn on the green up the road do a brilliant roast and great service. Wellington you should stop servicing food ASAP and teach your staff customer service.

Visited for the first time for a Sunday roast with friends and was really impressed. Cheaper than most nice roasts in Bristol but still up there for taste and what you receive. We all had the pork belly which was cooked really well (although the crackling could have been improved!) and the vegetables were tasty and well cooked. The potatoes did miss the mark a little bit but it’s incredibly difficult to get them spot on, so I didn’t really mind. There’s games (such as scrabble etc) available to play which was a really fun addition to the afternoon. All in all, lovely little pub and very reasonably priced with good food, definitely would recommend.

What can I say, Owen and his amazing team were fantastic and so welcoming. We were back and forth to Bristol Hospital and they were so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. I can honestly say I have never been to a pub with such polite, helpful staff. The room we stayed in was very clean , comfortable beds, tea, coffee machine and an amazing bathroom and shower. I had breakfast and dinner and they were both delicious and a great choice on the menu. I would recommend The Wellington to anyone who lives or needs to stay in Bristol it’s such a gem. Thank you to all the staff you all rock xx

Won’t be returning… My family recently visited on a Monday evening. We had a group of 12 us pre booked however when we arrived the table was not set up, so the member of staff pushed a few tablets together. We were handed the menu and told half of the items were missing and the wait would be 30 mins. A wait on a busy evening would be understandable however there were only 2 or 3 other small groups eating. The food eventually arrived almost an hour later, some cold, some burnt, some swimming in oil. The saving grace was the waiter who was kind and understanding, however really disappointing as we have visited frequently as a family and never had this experience before.
