Can't believe how much Grounded Redfield has turned itself around. As per some reviews, it had fallen way below par but we took a risk last night and the food prepared by the smiley, humble Kristophe (apologies if spelt incorrectly) was exceptional. I ordered a simple double cheeseburger and was presented with a masterpiece. I saw a couple with pizzas and they too looked so tasty. A chef who loves his work and a magnificent menu, wonderful. Its back on the list of best eateries on Church Road 😊

Took my Daughters here l few weeks ago (they like the lasagne). Ordered the food, the lady took my money and then told me "the chef is on a break, will be about 20mins wait", we were happy to wait. 15minutes later she approaches our table to tell me they had no lasagne, by this point my girls had been waiting 30 minutes. We chose something else as they were hungry. The whole experience was awful. The Lady was completely unapologetic and dismissive. We will get our lasagne elsewhere from now on...

Spent the time to walk down there with my two young kids for a breakfast treat only to be told the kitchen wasn’t open for another hour. I checked the website before leaving and it clearly says 8am for kitchen opening. There are other places I could have gone, waste of time.

Nice little coffee shop. Had poached egg & chorizo, was really good. Great atmosphere. 👍

Absolutely banging breakfast! 'The Epic Breakfast'. A colossus of good quality ingredients, well arranged, and cooked really well with no greasy drippings. Very fresh and energising for a long day out and about or a Sunday gym session. Very fairly priced, too - cheap, really! The staff were all very diligent and polite, and Sarah was very friendly and helpful at the till, too. My parents and I gave it 5-stars. Mum is a veggie, so it was the perfect place - so many vegetarian options! I would strongly recommend Grounded.

I love to visit grounded ever so friendly and food is amazing every time.. children have a good menu to which is also good. Staff are always amazing . Children's meals good value for the price

Decent coffee but the whole place needs a bloody good clean

Food is good but they are not consistent with meats used. I have ordered the loaded fries with chilli three times: the first time chilli was as expected, second there was minimal sauce and almost solely beef, third time I was given beef and pork mixed, menu states "chilli beef". This is misleading and concerning for visitors with dietary restrictions. Again, food is otherwise good.

Very poor quality food, almost inedible, should have complained but was in a rush.

Fabulous pizza totally delicious. Couldn't finish it so the staff popped it in a take out box. Great thank you. Quiz night was great too. Only suggestion would be please serve tea and coffee all evening . Sometimes a soft drink does not hit it to finish the night off. Would of stayed longer if tea and coffee was available. Great otherwise. Thank you.

Good food at a reasonable price and had no problem finding a gluten free option without overly restricting choices.

The woman who works there is rude and killed the vibe of our chilled Saturday brunch. We got food & a couple of coffees, only an hour had passed & we were chatting & working on our laptops when she told us to buy more drinks or leave. All the tables around us were empty. The energy she was radiating was unpleasant. Not going back.

Trio of jumbo fish Fish finger sandwich came with two fish fingers, not 3 as per menu. Wrong drink given. Vegan breakfast ordered but received non vegan. Waitress (blonde woman) was rude and told us we ordered what we got. Shame because the food is quite good.

I come to the cafe every monday with my granddaughters and staff are lovely especially sarah who always makes us feel really welcome and makes a great cappuccino however this week i had to leave early as the smell was terrible i was sat on table 8 my granddaughters didnt even touch their hot chocolate as the smell was making them feel sick i hope this gets dealt with as i do enjoy coming to grounded and have done for years

Had a full English today was one of the best i have ever had well done chef drinks were nice would definitely be back

Just had a late breakfast in here with the Mrs. I had the epic breakfast, she had the eggs Benedict with extra hash browns. Her hollandaise, which smothered the dish, was luke warm at best and the plates were were cold so where ever the sauce was just lying on the ceramic it was REALLY cold. All the hash browns were under cooked, not crispy, and dripping with grease (that side of the fryer is probably on the fritz). My very cheap sausages were full of gristle and even a couple of small chunks of bone, the mushrooms, beans and tomato were all cold. Same issue with the hash browns on my plate. My flat white, was probably the worst flat white I’ve ever had. No foam and the espresso was barely noticeable, it was like the kinda coffee you give a small child . It’s not hard to learn to steam milk, I’ve never worked front of house, but I worked as a chef for quite a few years and you pick it up in no time. Serious lack of care from all staff in the preparation of the food and drink items, definitely not worth the £25 it all cost. Lastly, the table was disgusting, deep grooves between the planks of wood, full of a slurry of cleaning product and food.

1 stars. I do NOT recommend going here, I've been a couple of times but this time was horrible. There was hair inside the burger. Hairy food. The service is loud and the cooks don't wear head nets and are not clean. Atmosphere is nice but a bit loud. I DONT RECOMMEND GOING HERE. I have been a Grounded customer for a while, since I'm based in Redfield, but the place is really going downhill. On my last few visits the inside of the cafe smelt badly of sewage, as another customer has pointed out. When I ordered a vegan fry up, the scrambled tofu was so full of turmeric that it was inedible and my hash browns were underdone. They clearly don't have paid-for music streaming, so customers are forced to listen to Amazon ads at full volume, especially when sat at the windows. However, my biggest issue with them lately is their rude and poorly trained staff. Yesterday I was in the cafe having a coffee and working on my laptop. I hadn't even finished my mocha at that point, when the new Italian waitress approached me and loudly demanded that I either order another drink or leave. When I went to the bar and ordered an americano, she rolled her eyes (!) (not sure what was wrong - not expensive enough?). I must stress that at this point the place was 70% empty and this didn't happen to any other customer, even though I was not the only one with a laptop. Needless to say I felt singled out and humiliated and I won't be returning.

Rude manager! I called up during the week to reserve a table for 2 on Sat at 1pm and was told they don't reserve tables anymore due to no shows (website says otherwise). Eventually i was advised to phone up on the day, 2 hours prior to my booking request and they may reserve a table. I managed to get through at 12 noon, only to be told this was too early and to phone 15 minutes before i wanted my table. I explained this was unreasonable (she clearly doesn't understand that people have to plan and travel), and begrudgingly agreed to book us a table. On arrival our table was at the window bar, sitting side by side. I asked if we can move to a table instead as there were 4 empty ones, at which point she started shouting loudly that she'd had to turn people away to book our window seat (clearly not true) and she will never book another table again. Highly unprofessional and embarrassing. Suffice to say we left and went to the Lock Up opposite where the waitress was super friendly and it had a much nicer atmosphere. The manager was clearly very stressed and would benefit from customer service training as I know I'm not the only one who has experienced her poor communication style.

My meal was pretty good so can't complain on that front but the staff there were really grumpy and seemed annoyed at us coming in with 3 buggies. The toddlers were asleep so were no trouble but we didn't feel very welcome at all. The lady was very rude and we just felt as though they didn't want us there. It's a real shame as it's an area with lots of young families and being right by the park, would be a popular choice for people with young children. I won't be returning.

Good place to get a sandwich, coffee, and cake. Can get busy at peak times, popular place for families with young children.

Why do you open until 6pm if your bar for serving coffee and kitchen just open until 4pm ? What a wasted of time. There was only two tables and place looks dirty.

I can't comment on the food as we didn't stay to eat. We have been to grounded Redfield on a number of occasions in the past and had a lovely time, however we went in this morning for breakfast with our 8 month old baby as a treat to get out. There must be a drainage issue as it smelt of sewage , but there was no sign or apology or even acknowledgement of this. In fact I don't believe we were acknowledged as we came in or sat down either, and it wasn't busy 3 tables and no one waiting to be served at the till. I went to get a highchair but they were all dirty, and I don't mean just needing to be brushed down, there was food stuck to them. As a parent of a baby starting to eat solids I do try to wipe down highchairs if we get them mucky, but I would also expect an establishment to spray and wipe them down as well. All of this combined with the fact that the lady behind the till was on her phone meant that we decided not to stay for breakfast and to head elsewhere.

In case you were looking for it, they sell amazing cakes – and my personal favourite, a really beautiful rainbow cake! The staff are super friendly and welcoming and I was given the final slice of cake free with my first as a welcome to Grounded. Thanks for making me welcome :)

The coffee was great. The toasted muffin and poached egg with hollandaise not so great. The hollandaise was quite thick a little too cold and felt very out of a jar. Edible. Yes. But I’ve had better.

The waitress was so rude to us. We asked for our coffee, chat a little bit and drank while we were setting, then we tried to work on our laptop, she asked us either to request more drink or leave with a very impolite manner, and the restaurant was not busy, so we are not taking the seat of any other customer. I am sure this is our last time there. Very bad service. Do not recommend.

We came here in the summer and sat in the garden, yesterday we sat inside in the window. The food was plentiful and delicious both times.

Terrible place. Went with some friends to Bristol to celebrate my birthday and booked a table at Grounded. We were 10 mins late which I told the gentlemen when I booked and he said no problem. My friends were greeted and the guy was horribly rude to them. They had hardly anything available on the menu so we opted for drinks and cake. They messed our drinks order up and then we were told we couldn’t have any cake as it was frozen. Staff were miserable and rude and knew nothing about customer service. Will not be returning.

The loud young woman serving customers is rude. She was shouting at people, not approachable at all and made the atmosphere horrible. She also said you have to buy a drink every 30 minutes/1 hour if you're on a laptop (90 minutes is more fair), and the 65p charge for a tiny splash of soya milk in tea is non negotiable. She was just very rude in general. Two of us live locally and work remotely and could be regular customers but we'll never visit again. The alternative milk charge for tea only is ridiculous.

Food is very good. Staff are very friendly ... but ... We tried 2 different credit cards and one debit card. None of them were accepted either contactless or in the machine. A 3rd credit card was accepted in the machine. These are all cards that worked elsewhere. They need to sort this out. We would not have stayed there if they'd asked us to go and get cash from an ATM.

Good local cafe. Food is average, but value for money. Open late for a cafe. This is a big advantage if looking for a simple meal on a Monday evening

The staff were really good, efficient and friendly We had a great lunch here. It was nice a busy but we were able to get a table for our food and drink in a timely manner. We will be back.

The lady was friendly taking our order and was happy to oblige our slightly tweaked order requests. The coffee and frappes (not on menu) arrived quickly. Then the food came out which was wrong. When I suggested it wasn’t what we ordered he (one of the cooks) seem to think that it was me who was confused and suggested I should have it ! He took it away after I made it clear it wasn’t mine. The sandwich reappeared seconds later and was given to the table next to us. The lady then came over to question our order but then quickly said “oh yes” I remember! The food came out, not exactly as ordered but close enough. Nice panini and chips. Then when my daughter came to the end of her frappe there was the lid of a bottle at the bottom.. slightly unusual experience all round

Visited multiple times. Regular place for a coffee and breakfast on Saturdays. We enjoy eating their full English breakfast and sandwiches. The chef is doing a great job as it always tastes good. The place is clean and the staff are always nice.

My experience has turned awful, it used to be great as the atmosphere, staff and food were outstanding but since the new lady, claiming to be the new manager, the place has turned awful. Recently, I was eating wonderful food, but the atmosphere turned from bad to worse as I heard the manager lady shout at all the other staff. This was very loud and completely ruined the atmosphere. The food remains to be Great, but the atmosphere and service is terrible.

Fantastic place, good food, decent selection of local beer, spacious garden with greenery. It’s the staff, though, that makes the place worth coming back to and makes one feel they are popping in to see friends who happen to also serve good coffee. Nothing is ever a problem, there’s great energy going, a through and through best-of-Bristol place. Go and see for yourself, though understand that your old cafe will never look the same! 😎

It was my first time in this area, the restaurant was recommended to me by my friend and I was not disappointed! it was delicious! However, I have some comments for the lady who worked at the bar. Her screams made me want to run from there. I recommend controlling your behavior when there are customers in the restaurant

I would like to recommend this place. They have a perfect shakshuka dish. Also, I need to mentioned the service. Friendly staff to serve you, specially the Italian Lady Jumpy (sorry if I’m spelling it wrong). Worth the money and time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

3 times in a row we received bad service. The lady staffing the till has been rude and grumpy each time. It used to be a nice place with good breakfasts, now most ingredients feel bought in frozen and reheated.

Found that the food was precooked before service. Food was taken back and freshly cooked the second time, and apologies were given. But this isn't the first time this has happened, so it must be standard practice.

Had the worst experience in a long time at Grounded in Redfield today. I was there for brunch, the woman that served me was utterly rude. I was with a friend and we kept looking at each other, dubious if the situation was real or we were on a candid camera. She replied to me disgruntled when I replied to a question she posed to my friend on his behalf. I have been in many customer facing roles, including bar work. That attitude was not acceptable at any level, the colleague that joined at some point, instead of taking over or apologising started talking to the woman, no eye contact, no shame... To top it up the stack I ordered was in fact a sad sandwich with white thick cheap bread, unripe avocado and apple that they did not even bother to peel. None of the flavours or textures worked. All in all a laughable experience for me and my friend, for how surreal it was! An easy: You won't see me ever again !

The waitress — Jumpy she said her name was — was very attentive and friendly. She knows her stuff about health and safety too. When I asked if she could refill my beer in the same glass (it was nice and cold so I thought it would be a good idea) she explained that it’s unhygienic because the glass touches the tap. Friendly Staff, great food, resealable priced with excellent service

I find this Grounded a bit hit and miss. It’s a cute place to have a coffee (or a tasty mocha) and the staff are always super friendly. I’ve had food at other Grounded’s and ordered the same thing on Church Road and it’s not been as nice. That said, my friend loves the burgers here! Update: just upped my star rating. Had an awesome breakfast here. Me and my mate were well impressed with the full big breakfast. Tasty!

Honesty couldn’t fault this place, lovely atmosphere, great selection of drinks and the food is incredible!! I bumped into who I assume was the manager who was super lovely which was very refreshing as I’ve had very rude service from one particular employee every time I come in. I work in hospitality myself and would never speak that way towards a paying customer (even when I’m having a bad day..). Don’t normally leave reviews but felt like I can’t be the only person that gets a hostile reception from him 😂

The service here was abysmal, there were glasses and plates littered all over our table and still weren’t collected by the end of our visit. Half our food turned up late and when we asked about the whereabouts of our meals we were flatly told they were “on the way”. The staff looked and acted visibly hungover and I wouldn’t have minded if the food was worth the money but it wasn’t!

Friendly and inviting with a brilliant atmosphere and the little garden is brilliant. I genuinely forgot I was on church road!

The place is nice but they don't offer other options of milk for free as other chains does (usually soya milk has no extra cost in most places). I'm lactose intolerant, so basically I need to pay an extra cost for a condition I didn't choose. The solution is simple: going to any other coffee that does.

Came for breakfast. The service was excellent, couldn't be more helpful. A happy posture. Thr food was delicious. Two vegan eggs on bloomers, the sausage triple stack and a club sandwich, the food was delicious and the coffee was great also. 10/10

I love this place for its nice relaxed atmosphere and the fact that it's dog friendly. It has a lovely sheltered little outside area too. Unfortunately on my last visit the kitchen seemed to be having some issues. I ordered a tuna, red onion and mozzarella panini + chips but the panini came without tuna so they took it back. after about a 15 minute wait, the panini came back without chips so I had another 5 minute wait for the chips by which time I'd already eaten the panini! I'm sure this was a one-off because normally the service is much quicker and better.

Poor customer service, the staff were rude and had a bad attitude. Additionally the food was not up to the price standard and I have had better for less money.

I usually go in fishponds branch, doesn't seem as friendly in here got a hello and asked if i was paying cash or card but no communication beyond that ☹️! I would normally order and pay for the drink and it wld get brought over to the table in fishponds which is ideal if you have your hands full😉! Also even though only about 6 or 7 others sat down cause mayb music was loud people seemed to be talking quite loud!

My husband and I used to go here regularly for an evening out. We always reserve a table because it’s busy but recently nobody ever answers the phone. Now all of the staff has changed and it’s just not the same anymore. Also the pizza chef has changed and in my opinion there’s more in edible crust around the edge then there is actual topped pizza in the middle so I don’t eat the pizzas anymore

Really wonderful Sunday breakfast! Soft light pancakes, perfectly cooked eggs Benedict and of course a large coffee! Grounded is feeling really good, like it’s had a new look and a new energy. Thank you!

Awesome little cafe. We accidentally missed some items off our order. They rushed the missing items through the kitchen and refused to let us pay.

Had coffee from here before and it was chill, but this time the coffee was absolutely beautiful! Not sure if they changed the beans or got new training or what but it was a class flat white. Also got the olives which were a more generous portion than I've been used too closer to the centre in Bristol. Staff were friendly and kind, and the music was a good level. All in all, yes to this cafe check it out after a cute walk in the park x

My stalwart coffee shop for as long as I've lived in the area. Open from early until later than most places. It's increasingly hard to find what I guess is called 'cafe culture' these days, but I often go there to write and unlike some places I've never been made to feel I'm outstaying my welcome. Great coffee and cakes, and also fantastic freshly made pizzas of an evening if you're looking for a bigger meal. Also, in the summer the patio out back is full of tiny songbirds and robins!

Cold day and a customer smoking near the open doorway. My friend closed the door. Guy working in there almost ran to reopen it saying how hot he was working in there . Other customer commented on his tone. Whilst I understand it can be hot in the serving areas I didn't want to breath in smoke nor have to sit in my coat. Invest in better air-conditioning for kitchen staff so they are more comfortable. Apart from that, great

Very expensive for what you get, restaurant prices with cafe food, white bloomer bread was just supermarket sliced white, fried egg was over cooked and solid wile the mushrooms were cold , for over £11 a breakfast I would expect better,

Don't come here with small children. We came for a coffee for 30 mins with our 8 month old babies and one of the staff refused to keep the door shut despite the fact it was freezing outside. All the customers were cold and asking him to shut the door but he was rude to everyone and kept opening it again. Obviously he's working and I don't want him to have an unpleasant time, but there's a way to treat your customers and this wasn't it. Never been treated so rudely by staff before.

Walked in the door with 5 people. We moved an additional seat to the end of a 4 person table and we were rudely accosted by the waiter telling us it was blocking the fire exit (it was not). Other tables (which were empty) could have easily been re-arranged to accommodate five but the staff were unhelpful and uninterested in helping. I live locally and would now not use this cafe again. There's a lot of better options nearby, so my advise is stear clear.
