I have visited the Kenny a couple of times, once for a corporate meal in one of their private dining rooms and more recently for a roast dinner with some friends. Both experiences have been amazing the food is incredible, all made with local produce. The staff are really welcoming and attentive. This is hands down the best roast I have had in Bristol, every aspect of the dinner was cooked to perfection, tender beef, crispy but fluffy roasters with a generous helping of tasty veg, the highlight being the broccoli and leek cheese of course! Big thanks to Matt, Oscar & Amel for looking after us. 🫶🏼

Brilliant food (Sunday Lunch) and excellent service. Have met friends here twice and really enjoyed both visits. Very good price/quality ratio for both wine and food. Menu interesting and varied but not fussy. They are lucky to have such a good chef who knows what she or he is doing as well as pleasant bar staff. Wine by the bottle very reasonably priced too. Will return again and again now we’ve found it.

Lovely local pub with a nice atmosphere. Didn't have a chance to try any of the food, but the food coming from the kitchen smelt absolutely delicious. Beers are a little bit on the pricey side but not too out of the ordinary for Bristol. Seems like a nice pub and I'd like to come back again. ☺️

Was expecting so much more from here. I read about the pub and followed them on Instagram and they appeared to offer high quality food. The beef fillet, even though we asked for rare, it arrived and it was thin cut and medium and the thick cut chips were insipid looking but we were hungry so ate them. However, the white onion soup we had for our starter was delicious. We should’ve had two bowls each of the soup for a fraction of the price of a thin overcooked fillet steak. Service was friendly and efficient though. Hoping tonight was an off night otherwise wouldn’t recommend to any friends or family in Bristol.

Nice Sunday lunch...but why such thin, watery gravy? Surely, this is a serious oversight by a clearly competent kitchen?

Re-branding as a chop house and grill was an intriguing and perhaps misguided decision for what is a pretty pricey Redland pub. This has resulted in a bit of an identity crisis. Bad move.

As vegetarians, we were looking forward to trying the veggie Sunday roast at our first visit to the Kensington Arms. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. It absolutely delivered in terms of taste. The main and deserts were delicious. Our criticism comes from the portion size. We were given three small roast potatoes each and a couple of small dishes of sides between the two of us. One of the ramekin size pots had broccoli and cauliflower cheese. With only one floret of cauliflower, we ended up sharing that. For the price we paid for lunch, the value for money wasn’t there and that was disappointing. The food itself was fabulous and delicious and can’t be faulted. But sadly, the portion size of the side dishes for two people were, sorry to have to say, on the mean side. A pot of sides per diner would have been appropriate given the small size of them.

Had veggie roast today on our 2nd visit. Overall food very good. Feels slightly steep re price, paying nearly £90 for a main, dessert, and 1 drink each for two people. Service friendly though took a while for orders to be taken. Dog friendly which is a good plus. Veg and meat roasts here are same price which is not something we are used to as veg options generally cheaper elsewhere. The veg roast itself was very tasty, really enjoyed, however the serving size is on the small side, so you are wishing for more.

In a word, disappointing. Came here with high expectations. Nice atmosphere and looks like a good gastro pub. We came for the supposedly renowned Sunday Roast, but unfortunately the food was poor and severely overpriced (for info, they charge £27.50 for two courses, £35 for three). Our order: 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 dessert, two pints and two glasses of mid-range wine: £110. Starter: a pork and black pudding terrine which was quite nice, the chutney was good but no better than a standard caramelised onion chutney, and a handful of cornichons. There was only one small piece of toast to go with it which was stingy - there should be at least two given the portion. 6/10 Main: the roast beef, where to start... first point to make is that most of the dish was room temperature or cold upon arrival. Two small slices of beef, where a quarter of each slice was fat. The actual beef was tasty, but a stingy portion and poor quality. Roast potatoes were not crunchy or seasoned, the Yorkshire pudding tasted like it had been left out for a long time, and had no flavour, I didn't notice the celeriac and thyme puree on the plate though it's stated on the menu, the singular roasted heritage carrot was ok, mixed greens were cold and flavourless, the cauliflower in the cauliflower cheese was very undercooked, a tiny portion of beetroot and no peas, although they are stated on the menu. The gravy was thin but had flavour, although a tiny portion which didn't even cover the plate, and the red cabbage which was sweet and rich and probably the best item on the plate. All in all, very disappointing and measly portions! 2/10 Wine: The English rosé and valpolicella ripasso, good but expensive for glasses; £7/8 for small and £11/12 for 250ml. 6/10 Dessert: shared the sticky ale pudding, nice but tasted like every other sticky toffee pudding. 6/10 Some extra points: The salt grinder did not work, which should have been checked before service. The tap water did not taste fresh, not sure if this was the water, ice or glasses. It wasn't just us who were disappointed; a person next to us sent the roast beef back as it was too fatty, and was then presented with either the same plate again, or a very similar looking serving. Can't imagine they were very pleased! Given the setting, reviews and prices, we expected excellent food, but it is a very poor roast and absolutely not value for money. I hope the management sees this and drastically improves the quality, portions and service time once plated (given the cold food) of the dishes. Would not recommend.

Went for the roast beef Sunday lunch, excellent friendly staff and service The meal however disappointed from the first roast potato which was hollow and so hard my knife skipped off it, the second spud was the same and unfortunately, once in the mouth, inedible. The Beef was ok but I wasn’t prepared to eat a meal comprised only of beef. I asked for a doggy bag in the end for my Border Collies…which the staff were fine with. I told them I was disappointed and the charge was dropped. I’m not a complainer normally and I hope it was a “bad day” and not the standard fayre.

It’s twice now I’ve been disappointed by The Kenny. We had the rarebit to start and although the flavours complimented each other, the bread base was very stale. The main was also a huge disappointment as it was severed in a large plate which just highlighted the small portions; I ordered the medium rare rump and I was only served two very thin and chewy slices. We also ordered the brownie for desert and we were served the corner which is usually our favourite part but it was burnt to the point it was black and parts were solid. It is safe to say we will not be coming back. We also paid £30 ahead of the reservation. It also isn’t baby/toddler friendly as it’s all a bit tight and no space for a highchair.

The ten of us were comfortably seated around the gorgeous table in the Blue Room upstairs, with very attentive staff and excellent service as the evening sun cast a warm golden glow in the impressive room. We were highly disappointed by our experience here. We took our family for a Sunday lunch, having read all the wonderful reviews, and it sadly did not meet our expectations at all. The food was lukewarm, barely any gravy. My sister actually asked for more gravy and it never arrived. My husbands meat was actually cold. And the portions were tiny, like they had run out or something. I'm not the sort of person who likes a huge roast dinner but this was the smallest one I've ever been served and we go out for Sunday lunch a lot. To top it all off, we'd paid a £60 deposit when we booked, which we'd sort of forgotten about, turns out the staff had too as they charged us the full amount, thankfully we realised as we were about to drive off and went back in. The funny thing is they weren't even remotely surprised about this, nor did they apologise, just got the card machine and issued the refund. We definitely won't be going back.

We had a fantastic Sunday roast at The Kensington Arms in May 2023, I was visiting my brother whom resides in Bristol and he booked this in the strength of reviews, and after a long drive to fron Warwickshire to meet my brother, we were immediately great with a friendly member of the team and show to a lovely private dining room upstairs, ideal for the seven of us, the service was consistently excellent, as was the food, and despite being a gastro pub they accommodated my two nephews requirements perfectly, the food staff and ambience all added to a lovely family meal, I would absolutely visit again and hope my brother books it again

Always a joy to eat at The Kenny, and this relaxed business lunch was no exception. Good value, with two courses for £19, or as we plumped for, 3 courses for £23. Devilled chicken livers on sour dough, followed by the 4oz rump steak cap accompanied by rosemary fries was a perfect light lunch. And the sticky ale cake was a moreish sensation - and I always skip puds. A couple of ginger beers (we were driving) and a decent double espresso and we were done. The service was also absolutely spot on, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I could've lingered all afternoon.

Me and my 2 food-fond chums meet at the Kenny farily regularly. I focus on the lunchtime special menu, which appears to be a slimmed down offering of the full lunch options. At 19 pounds for 2 courses and just 3 more for all three, this is a decent way to spend a pony and get a great lunch! I had the full vege monty this trip - grilled calcots - like plump spring onions - to start, mushroom and blue cheese risotto to follow and apple sorbet to finish. All was excellent. My friends with both stouter appitites as well as waistlines, plumped for the cote du boeff for two at 80 squiddlies - it was a good plate of perfectly cooked and good quality beef, which they polished off with gusto and two bottles of luscious red, on a recco from the front of house. She was able to speak from experience as she described the tasting event at which she had tried the wine we had. This is a Good Sign, I think. My chums were disappointed that the cheese board they've enjoyed on previous visits wasn't available - perhaps it will reappear as an option one day... As we were just one of three tables occupied that day, we couldn't quite decide whether it was a plus to have all the staff virtually to ourselves or whether it was a shame that so few people were visiting a place where good food, good service and good value is clearly on offer. We've been here on Thursday lunchtimes several times before and it's always the same good standard - long may it remain so !

My parents ordered fish and they weren't less happy, they loved it too. We also ordered a bottle of white wine (this was nothing especial, I must say) Desserts were also delicious. Our main waiter (an English lad who spoke very good Spanish ;) couldn't be more efficient and nicer! I'd highly recommend this place! Butter from the bread (starter) was also frozen in the middle and the bread was room temperature rather than slightly warmed which would have been nice. We had a private room for a big family Sunday lunch and everything was amazing from the food to the staff, who couldn't do more to help! Thoroughly recommend for a special occasion

The Kenny is a good local pub, one that you're glad to have on your doorstep. We understand the food is good but have not yet eaten here. I can highly recommend "Fortitude", a cracking pint of beer. Not a large pub but it does have a good vibe and character. There is outside seating available with a raised platform to the side that's undercover.

I have to follow a special diet and the staff were really brilliant. From emails beforehand to confirm what I could eat to checking on the seasoning when confirming the order, I really felt like I was in good hands. Delicious food and a great atmosphere.

Wow Wow Wow. This is an amazing place to go. This pub is tucked away in a corner of Bristol, in a nice neighborhood. The head chef of the restaurant owns a michelin star restaurant, and is an amazing chef. We got to have the privilege of sitting right next to the kitchen to see all of the action, it was very good to watch. I had the battered fish, with triple cooked chips, the fish was beautiful and we'll battered and the chips were probably the best I've ever eaten. For starter I had the the fishcake, which was very crispy and paired well with the homemade pesto underneath, this dish was served and garnished beautifully. For the other starters we had the chalk stream trout tartare and the saffron aranchini, both of which looked lovely. For the other mains we had the pan roasted sea bass, which looked and smelled fresh, you could tell especially with this restaurant that all of their meals were fresh/homemade, the dry aged ribeye, cooked medium rare, this did come out a bit more rare than liked, but with a busy night and with seconds of time to make it cooked well, is completely understandable. To finish of the mains, we had the black treacle and mustard glazed gammon, with eggs, which was again cooked perfectly. For 'afters' we had the sticky toffee pudding, which was rich and the sauce for it was perfectly sweet; the strawberry cheesecake which was presented really well, and tasted lovely, and finally the brownie which had nothing to fault. The atmosphere was lovely, the location the same, and also the decor, and feel to this gastro pub. A must go place for sure! Pictures down below :)

I didn't eat there, and there were more people behind the bar than in the bar.
