Just popped in for a quick drink but stayed for a while after being looked after so well by Leigh Anne. She made the visit so enjoyable I will be visiting again but this time for longer and maybe have a meal. A credit to your establishent.

Shocking, dirty pub with very few staff and terrible management. Myself having working for greene king, this pub is totally uninviting and filthy!. I would never return or recccomend even walking through the door.

Love the atmosphere came in for a meal w the fam Leigh-Anne was bubbly and helpful special thanks to her ☺️. Overall the food was good and cheap. Xx

Really enjoyable visit and perfect venue when visited with family after a long haul flight from Canada. Staff friendly, helpful and considerate in the approach. Prices very reasonable. Portion sizes about right. No car park on site, but there is a council run car park nearby. Selection to chose from was great as well. Would happily return again.

Friday 13th, unlucky for some but not the customers at The Waterside as Leigh Anne was delivering her usual magic behind the bar. Despite being super busy and dealing with new customers asking varied lengthy questions Leigh Anne delivered exceptional customer service, making all customers feel very welcome and comfortable. Queues were kept to a minimum and as always Leigh Anne delivered service with a smile. Really appreciate the effort you put in to make our visits extra special.

Leigh-Anne is a queen! It was heaving down the waterside on Friday the 13th and she did anything and everything to make sure we had a great night

Great pub, great value and a great night out in a friendly place. Barmaid Leigh-Anne is super bubbly, super welcoming and I couldn’t ask for better service. Highly recommend!

Went there for drinks with friends whilst I was back in the UK for a short time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good ambience and my favourite San Miguel is always good! Shout to Tom who works behind the bar, friendly and always helpful.

Came to the waterside for lunch with family we had a lovely time and the food was great. It was a pleasure to be served by janet she was very friendly always had a smile on her face and nothing was to much trouble and went to extra length to help us.

I had a fish and chips the meal was good. But service was excellent I was served by Janet and she put herself out to make us feel comfortable she was always smiling and very polite I give her 10 out of 10 she was brilliant

The pub is just near the beach so good to go to especially In the summer. Lots of seating inside and out. The staff are great especially Leigh-Anne who works most evening. She is fast and has a great sense of humour with good banter.

Had a lovely meal for 2 today had fish and chips and hunters chicken , very nice. We were served by a lovely very smiley waitress called Janet she was fantastic in every aspect and went above and beyond to make our visit so perfect . Thankyou Janet Will be visiting again.

Came in for dinner on a busy Saturday evening , ordered from the app which was very easy to use and drinks were brought to the table within a few minutes. The food was delivered by the chef - Tom , fairly soon after. I was nicely presented, piping hot and really tasty. Would definitely recommend 👌

Leigh Anne was amazing, my entire day at the pub was great from food to drinks and just in general a lovely place to be when the suns out, would highly recommend to anyone in the area

First of all I would like to say our hostess Janet was great has a happy face and helpfully, Janet explain ordering are meal along with the drinks so that was great.if you are round shoreham pop in ask for Janet you will not be disappointed, place bit dark in places but overall great meal nice place.

Good sports pub with excellent bar staff especially Janet who was very attentive both at the table and bar.

Love this place for a budget lunch/dinner, pretty much cheaper than cooking at home. Although the quality is not always 4* for the price you cannot rate it lower. Only on one occasion have I complained about the food and we’ve ate there probably twenty times.

First visit. Lovely atmosphere, great location. Family and dog friendly.

Love this place, but they need to get on their higine, glass often not clean .The one I returned, they tipped the drink into another glass ( Should off replaced the drink as well ) once outside the glass, they check and replaced had a crack in it .

Seemed a very hostile environment. Person who served us was borderline rude and totally lacking in manners which was strange as it was a very empty pub when you would think they would be welcoming people in. We were going to stay for food but it was so horrible we had a quick drink and left.

We went there with our toddler son in a busy Sunday lunchtime. Once we found a table and my wife went to look for a kids' menu a member of staff walked to my son and I just to tell us that children are not allowed in that part of the pub. The other part was full, some families, mostly people with no children with them. No assistance was offered to help us swap tables with others, the guy just dropped the law of the land and walked off. As good as throwing us out just for going in with our child. Update: Seeing the response from the owner, they are just digging it deeper. (By the way, that half was not quite that busy at all. Also, you described your sports bar as if it was a fighting arena.) As for responsibility, that just shows the level of customer service: inconsiderate. If I can politely negotiate with people on public transport to make space for another parent and small child, so can you in your own establishment. So my verdict is confirmed: AVOID if you are with a child. The owner doubled down on excuses.

Lovely place. The staff is beyond friendly. Very dog friendly, my boy has lots of fuss and treats which was sweet. Lots of seating outside and a big car park (you need to pay). Will definitely be back.

Regularly visit the Waterside, very dog friendly with a great range of food and drink. The staff are always really accommodating, would definitely recommend! Just visiting again and realised they have an amazing outside sports come with a giant tv!!!

I passed by the pub yesterday during the England football game to see what it was like and thought I’d give it a shot, I’m so glad I did! 1- There was such a range of people in there, from different countries, different ages, dogs etc I even saw someone with a parrot! it was so lovely to see that everyone feels welcome in there 2- I wasn’t going to order food but decided to anyway, I ordered a burger and it was MASSIVE! It was double up for 1.50 so I did and I couldn’t finish it all but got a doggy bag for my pups at home. Soooo good! 3- The staff were the highlight. It really put a smile on my face to see young people actually enjoying their job. Despite how utterly busy it was, they managed to keep up with the huge influx of glasses and plates, people waiting to order drinks and the crazy football fans all seemed to be under control. They never make me feel rushed and nothing is ever too much effort for them. Great atmosphere and couldn’t promote the team more yet again! Will always come back even for a pint and a smile😊

A friendly local pub with a great sports atmosphere and good food and drink deals. Would definitely recommend for the football! Now has a great outside sports area to enjoy the sunshine and the footie!

If you like good service , do not go here. We arived at 12,15 on Tuesday...Not exactly the busiest time!!...Food was acceptable ...nothing exciting but standard pub grub, However the service was awful. We placed our order and had to wait over half an hour for the starter, there was then a 15 minute gap before the table was cleared and the main course served. 20 minutes after we had eaten that the table was still unserviced and we had to go to the bar to ask for it to be cleared and our desert served. It seemed that there were only two staff who served the bar, cleared and waited at table and, for all we know, cooked the food as well. We will certainly not return there

They need to train staff in customer service went to order food just got told well u will have to wait 3/4 hour no sorry.Will think about going in their

Been here on numerous occasions and the staff have always been attentive. Recently the landlady has recently lost her partner and mentioned she only had 2 days respite!! Personally I'd need more than that to mourn a partner I have loved and cherished!! But she has still managed to be the hostess with the mostess xxx

Top pub in Shoreham for a few after work beers, snacky food and loads of tvs for all the sport! Friendly staff and a good local pub. And let me put my foot ball short Birmingham city top with the rest

Not a bad pub which is part of Greene King. £4 a pint was good. Food stops at 19:00. Update: ale is now £4.85 a pint. There's a large TV in the garden which is cool but it faces the sun so it's pretty pointless.

Great staff and food, could use slightly bigger portions for some stuff like fish and chips but great otherwise and a great deal on the classic meals, 2 for £12.50 if I remember correctly

So I have been in the water side a few time over a couple of years, service is good, the food is as expected. But I do wish they would employ a dedicated glass collector and washer! Its the one thing that you notice every time you go in to the pub, you see what appears to be the whole days worth of glasses on the bar waiting patiently to be put into the glass washer! Just wish I had taken a photo! The others gripe is why does the good ordering app stop working at 8pm if you book a table for 7.45 pm?

Excellent service and food was very good with ample on the large plate, drinks were all fizzy from top of glass untill we had finished them, (a rarity now days)👍

Excellent place for a weekday lunch. Not overly busy but had a good character/ambiance. Staff have been very friendly, helpful & polite every time we've been.

They told me they had run out of corn on the cob so they sent me toast instead 😂😂

Will visit again. Bit of a wait for service but it was early May and they appeared to be short on front of house staff. Staff were both friendly and helpful. Found it was quicker to order food and drinks through the app, which worked well as we had 2 wriggly toddlers with us. Booth table was great for keeping the kids contained. Food, a mix of burgers, gammon and kids meals, was served 20mins after ordering and everyone enjoyed their meals. Kids portions were perfect size for us. Order was correct and food was tasty. Only complaint is probably due to lack of front of house staff - tables and chairs were all clean but walls were not!

I like this place, we go there with my friend and we have such a nice time. Good value for the money too.

A pub for all tastes. Football and sports fans on one side and those wishing to escape that, quieter areas to talk or take in the views of shorreham and the adur River. Lots of outside seating also. Food is reasonable, staff are fantastic,helpful, friendly and polite.

Picture the scene. It’s Saturday night in Shoreham and it’s cold and dark and you venture over the river to a Greene King chain pub that clearly states food is served until 2100 and you arrive at 1930 to be told no more food for walk ins. I challenged the chap in specs as to why this is the case on a Saturday. He said we normally stop doing food at 1930-2000 on a Saturday. Really? Are you sure about that? He was rude about it too. Off we walk in the cold to find some other food. What a joke. Greene King is a moneymaking machine and I’m sure they’d hate to hear of this practice. The spectacled chap isn’t a landlord after all and is answerable to the higher powers. I’ve therefore contacted head office to see what they say and will update my reply based upon what they say so for transparency purposes. To further note the pub was half empty too so capacity isn’t an issue. I’ll look forward to updating the world as to what head office say. All in all rude unhelpful staff and not worth your time. We popped to the Swiss Cottage who happily fed us and were much more friendly. A cautionary tale for everyone there. Update. Here’s my reply from head office. Dismissive at best. A company with contempt for the customer: Following our investigation, we have found that unfortunately, both sites did not have the efficient staffing to keep the kitchens open for the usual amount of time during your visit. I would like to apologise for the misinformation you found online but regrettably, it was not possible to change the website on such short notice, leading to the confusion you experienced. Please know that this is something that we will look into to ensure that a similar incident does not reoccur in the future.

The pud was ok.but I don't think there shef nows how to cook a fryed egg . They was both burnt on the bottom of them.however my friends burger was grat

Nice friendly Staff, good atmosphere and surroundings, good well cooked food that is very reasonably priced. My favourite Greene King IPA Beer is great value plus their Coffees are well made. Cannot fault it except during the week I would have liked the kitchen to be still open to take orders at 8.00pm and not 7.30pm.

The Waterside is a nice pub with a friendly atmosphere - but my lunch was not good. I had a steak pie slice with mash and peas. The meat on the cut sides of the slice was almost black - not freshly cut, dried out and going hard. The mash was a nice sized portion but was clearly not fresh and had started to solidify. I was treated to the meal by my daughter and felt it out of place to complain. I will return for a drink but avoid eating there.

Once again our party of eight enjoyed a lovely meal at the waterside Shoreham the staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable however our visits have been spoilt for several months now by the fact that we have been unable to order tea and coffee because the machine keeps breaking down we even took our own milk and teabags this time thinking that we could get hot water to make our own but sadly this was not possible because the hot water comes from the same machine. Two of our party are disabled and look forward to a cup of tea and the rest of us would like to enjoy a cup of Coffee after our meal. We feel sorry for the staff members who are continually having to apologize for the broken machine and have the added stress during very busy times. Sadly we have decided to go elsewhere for our meal next month but hope to return to waterside when and if the problem machine is permanent replaced. Thank you once again to the hard working staff who always serve us well.

Popped in on Christmas morning as staying locally. It was very busy and full of atmosphere. I asked a young man if my partner and I could share his table. He kindly agreed. We then all enjoyed an interesting conversation. It was a delight to meet such an interesting local. Cheers 🍻

Booked ahead and our table was exactly as requested, in view of the football and dog friendly. Greeted on arrival and the dog was given water and a treat (more than 1 ). We had 2 classic meals for £12, scampi and mac n cheese, perfectly good pub food. Beer was Tribute so all good there. Would recommend this pub

Booked Christmas lunch here and I wasn’t disappointed. Absolutely perfect from start to finish . The welcome was warm , as was the pub on a filthy day! Service all through was fabulous, no delays at all and no wait for drinks despite a busy bar. All 3 courses of food were perfectly presented , hot and very tasty . Thank you to all involved, an excellent day !

Best pub in shoreham, great atmosphere the staff make it !

We go here often as our usual meal is tasty and reasonably priced, staff pleasant and it's always been nice & warm. Unfortunately our last 2 visits were disappointing and I can not find a way of contacting the owner. On Sunday we had the mushroom pie roast. The pie was heavy tasteless pastry with a few very chewy mushrooms. The veg was also tasteless and hard. ( in addition, roast potatoes, mash + pastry was not a good combination given the small amount of other veg). Today, the door was locked open and an icy draught swirled around every table. I asked if I could close it and was told 'no', (no reason why). People on a nearby table were also complaining about the cold but ordered food. We left and returned to Hove. Will try again and hope that this new open door policy in winter is short lived.

Food was hot and fresh, very reasonably priced!

I visited here a couple of times in April 2023 for lunch. On both visits, I was super impressed with the value of the food. The build-your-own burger was particularly good. I also really enjoyed the giant sausage and mash. Staff were also very friendly. If you're looking for a cheap eat and drink, I'd thoroughly recommend here.

Popped in here as we'd heard how reasonable it was for the 3 course senior meal. The food was really good. Will 100% be going back in the very near future

So many items on the menu are not available any more. Some of us ordered the curry, one curry had only 4 pieces of chicken and then no onion bhaji available no all day breakfast available - I could go on. We have been told that the menu is changing but this since the beginning of September. Totally unacceptable.

We had been recommended this Greene King pub by several friends, so we thought we'd give it a go, and I have to say we weren't disappointed, mostly I believe by the efficiency and friendly service from Jevan....he went above and beyond to make out lunch just great. He was mostly serving food, drinks and clearing tables by himself. The food came out in super quick time, very tasty indeed and piping hot....Perfect. It's human nature alot of the time to complain when something isn't right, however, I'm a great believer in praise too. Jevan you are a credit to Greene King, and they are extremely lucky to have you I must also give massive thanks to whoever was in the kitchen....as you're brilliant too. Shall be returning very, very soon. 😊 Thanks

Me and my friend went to the waterside last week and it was an absolutely lovely experience. The drinks are well priced and it has a very friendly vibe. I was served by a lovely lady whom I think was called Lee-Anne (could be wrong) and her service was so helpful and she was so polite and welcoming! With a lovely big smile! I would definitely come back :)

Came here for a family lunch food was excellent, very affordable, great variety and was served quite quickly from when we ordered. Great location on a nice day to sit outside and near to the beach too which was ideal. We was served by Leanne, 10/10 she was extremely efficient and polite, she made us feel very comfortable and welcomed during our visit as well as ensuring we had everything we needed. Would recommend for food and drink.

What can I say? This is a great place to get in out of the rain. We saw the Lionesses humiliate Australia in the World Cup semi final which was great, but the pub just left the volume turned up to a noisy level even though no-one was watching it anymore. We couldn’t hear each other without yelling.

Had a day out with friends in shoreham,we decided to start our day at the waterside.we decided that we would have lunch there before moving on,great decision!! I had lasagne,one had katsu chicken and 2 had the fish and chips…absolutely fantastic 😊we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the service was great,many thanks to the team for making the start of our day out great

Such a surprise, we were expecting nothing (given that the pub is owned by a retailer) but the service is good, and the food is great. I mean, it's great if you just want to grab something affordable and tasty. Anyways I'll be back for sure.

This is an interesting old hotel with an attractive facade. Inside there are a number of rooms where one can sit for a meal. We opted for the Seniors Special which was good value - a main and dessert for 5.49. One of us enjoyed Bangers and Mash while the other had Chicken Diane - both quite satisfying. The service was friendly and one member of staff displayed amazing tolerance cleaning up a large part of one room where a toddler was allowed to distribute his meal over the floor.

Have recently started coming here every week with my dad & his partner. We have enjoyed every meal. My dad wishes it was closer to him! They love the roast & the two for £11.99 deal. Today I had a build your own burger and I must say it was absolutely delicious. The staff are all so happy & friendly. We love it here!

Good pub. Friendly staff. Food is decent and good value for money. Plenty of tv's to watch football/rugby/cricket.
