Very wonderful new owners, refurb made the pub look fantastic, lots of fun events like quiz or raffle/key game or great musicians on every week, welcoming, friendly, just all round great place now definately best pub in lancing and possibly one of the best pubs in all the Worthing area! Lovely atmosphere in the sit outside in the garden wide screen tv for sports fans even garden heating outside.

Since Ira and Chris took over we have no complaints brought the pub back to where it should be so much going on during week such lovely people

Went to watch the 6 nations rugby. First time in the pub since I moved here 6 years ago. Had a great experience, very friendly, great crowd.

The new revamp seems to be doing the trick. Loads of potential. Please keep this up and you will get all lancing kind locals in and hopefully will be a decent community pub. Pub grub could be a good idea

Went in here just for a drink, what lovely staff, I took my dog with me straight away they got her water and a treat, everyone was so friendly would recommend too anyone

Casual, comfortable, friendly staff, clean and relatively cheap. Getting g yo know some of the regulars here and it's more often than not good company.

Ok first time in under the new management, only had a swift drink before catching the train. Good selection of drinks, friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

The pub might look better after a lick of paint , but the cliental are aggressive and cliché .... The management are delusional and think Lancing is something its not ......

Good vibes and they have a big beer garden! Lots of card and board games to play too. Also, the pool table is only £1 to play… what a bargain

Decided to revisit as the Railway is under new management. After a recent revamp the pub is much brighter, a good selection of drinks, a friendly welcome, a range of board games and sports being shown, quiz night and live music. A huge improvement and potentially a chance for this village centre pub to become a real hub of the community. It is all new so don't let past reviews out you off. It is important to highlight that as this is a Craft Union pub it is a drinks led community pub. Sadly they don't serve food hence only 4 stars. In my view it is a missed opportunity as some great pub classics such as pies, ploughmans etc would be great, they do allow you to take your own food in, with a range of takeaways close by there are options.

Holidaying in the area, we came across The Railway to watch ManU's first game of the season. We were very warmly greeted by Ira and all her staff. Plenty of room in the newly refurbished Pub, with multiple screens to watch live sports. As a real are fan, very pleased to see Timmy Taylor's Landlord and Doombar ales on draft! Highly recommended to watch sport, in a comfortable and very welcoming pub - terrific! Well done Ira & Team!

Went in for lunch, the gamon egg and chips were delicious as was my wife's sandwich. Clearly made with care. Excellent value, wide range of drinks. Friendly staff and customers. Compliments to the cook!

Just about one step up of a pre-Victorian public house. The atmosphere is dark and moody and not inviting at all. No one behind the bar welcomed anyone. The beer was awful. Move to the next town!

Warmest pub on the south coast 👌

Came with a visiting friend I hadn't seen for ages, for lunch and getting out of Lancing was hopeless with the closed A27. So we ventured into the Railway. We wanted something good to eat and wine so we could chat. I had never been in the Railway. Its an old pub and we wanted to straighten the wonky pictures on the wall. But the dining part was quiet and we orderd wine and food from the menu. It was excellent. Couldn't fault it. Good, friendly service and food that was tasty and piping hot. We were left to take out time chatting. It was my idea to go in, so well done.

Lovely pub, cater for all customers, show live sport, DJ on certain nights, have a pool/darts area, large bar and a quieter/comfortable area to serve food. Would be five stars, but wasn't informed about registering my vehicle until my second visit. Although there are a couple of signs in their window, my first visit there, it was dark so did not notice the parking restrictions within their carpark, wasn't informed by the barstaff and now will £60/£100 lighter....

Not the same its more a sports bar you cant hear yourself think and music on loud at the same time. A lot of trouble and drugs go on. I loved it when it was the old monk it was never as bad as it is now.

Lovely pub next to Lancing train station. Glad I missed the train and had an excuse to pop in for a pint! Lovely decor, one of the rare pubs left that feels like a traditional old English pub. The ladies behind the bar were all very polite and friendly. Very welcoming.

Awful awful pub, full of suspect characters and a bar maid who appeared to be having a breakdown. She ignored us for the first 5 minutes whilst swearing loudly do not bother

Stayed for Sunday lunch despite first impressions of modest town centre pub by Lancing station. Lunch Menu was only pizzas or dish of the day beef stew but the Pizzas are hand made and the vegetable one we shared was excellent. Staff very friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. Booked online and would not have gone in at all had we just walked past this jaded sports bar, but we found an excellent down to earth competitively priced gem, don’t expect a gastropub and you won’t be disappointed.

2.30pm Saturday had 20 mins to wait for my train. Club music blaring from loudspeaker at the front, shirtless youths lounging outside, absolutely nothing to tempt me in so popped into Asda next door for a can of something cold.

Lovely little pub right next to the station. Really friendly behind the bar and the food was good, particularly the chips - seriously good.

Went here for Sunday lunch . It was ok but wouldn't go again. Very mundane veg. , beef fatty and not very warm .See my review of the Marquis of Granby in Sompting ...that was something else ! To be fair, since our visit about a month ago a new chef has been taken on .

This restaurant is closed down and has been for almost a year went with a friend for lunch went back the next day to find it all closed up ...mo explanatiom

We booked up the first ever use of their function section since it has been under new management and what a great success it was. Lisa the land lady took care of everything which included the disco and the 50th birthday cake. The chef did a fantastic job of feeding all 40 + of us with one of the best buffets we have ever had. The sad part was we were unable to do full justice to it so none of the pub`s regulars went hungry

Looked lovely from outside popped in for a drink as had to change trains. Saturday night is obviously regulars night had paper thrown at me by one then went to use the toilets only to be blocked on way out and had to barge passed which could be intimidating for some. Management really need to address this behaviour as disgusting.

So I call in this pub at 1900 as trains were delayed. It looks lovely from the outside. I ordered a lasagne from the disinterested barmaid. She looked confused at such a simple request. As if I had asked her for the answer to a complex equation. When it sunk in what I wanted, she typed this into the till, poured the beer I requested. Time to pay, but "our card machine isn't working" she said in the disinterested voice. Not a good start, but I paid cash (I wouldn't do this normally, and would expect to know this before ordering). After 23 minutes cutlery arrived, in a glass, with greasy condiments. No food yet. The cutlery had a layer of dust on it - this was not a good sign really. The wait continued. The food Arrived at 1930 - quite an unacceptable wait. I asked for clean cutlery - the disinterested bar woman sighed and returned with new cutlery, with a cursory apology. The food, a large portion but lasagne with the consistency of rubber. After 15 minutes the manager did come along. To be fair we had a full and frank discussion about the food, welcome, cutlery, wait etc and seemed genuinely willing to put things right. She gave me a refund for the poor meal without a quibble. Then the dramatic fake tears came about being gutted. REALLY - I have never seen such a pathetic attempt at faux concern. Noting that also left minutes later she seemed perfectly fine smiling as she tripped out of the pub. Also the sarcastic goodbye from the disinterested bar maid. If this is the best lancing has, it's a poor show. I won't be going back to this awful venue. I suggest you avoid it too! W

I went here with my family and in-laws for lunch and the food was absolutely delicious. The pub had recently been refurbished to a high standard and they've really re-branded as a food-led pub, which is great for local area. The menu offers a small selection of great traditional pub food, as well as a selection of burgers, but it's clear that the chef's passion is for Spanish food. There's a great selection of tapas, the fajitas are AMAZING and the paella is sumptuous. There is a small children's menu, but it's all home-cooked to the same high standard (including the presentation), so the children get to feel special too. The only reason I've not given it a 5 (and I feel mean, given how amazing the food was) is because there was quite a wait between courses and the music didn't really fit with the style of the food (it was commercial radio piling out dance beats at lunchtime... hmm). Both those things can be easily addressed and certainly won't stop me from going back. The staff were lovely too!

went to the station pub in lancig on sunday for lunch now changed its name back to the station from the marry monk, good move, havent been there for about four years but we went out as familey and freinds 20 of us , the pub is a lot better now with new owners and a lot smarter, the food was very very good with large helpings and very good service we all enjoyed the after noon and will be returning.

I went with my family to The Railway for a meal on a Sunday afternoon.The food in the pub is great, huge portions .We ordered Pork Belly and Lamb Shank .Delicious !The staff were very friendly and helpful which adds to the atmosphere .There was good a selection of beer .Pub looks very nice and clean.We find out they do homemade brioche buns for burgers and menu offer wide range of Spanish tapas.Looking forward to going back ,keep up the great work!

Los cambios en el tren han sido sorprendentes. Todo ha cambiado, el mejor, por supuesto. Ahora hay una zona de deportes y bebidas y una zona de comedor para los que quieren disfrutar de su comida con una copa de vino o cerveza. Estos ajustes se hicieron el pub mucho más agradable y placentera.Un gran grupo de amigos y yo fuimos a la estación el sábado, ya que he oído que son ahora, que sirve comida no han hecho cuando han sido previamente. Tienen una amplia variedad de osos y vinos, lo que realmente nos gustó como la elección es importante. Hemos pedido algunas hamburguesas, Fajitas y tapas españolas. Las hamburguesas eran servidos en un brioche casero, lo que demuestra que las hamburguesas son una buena relación calidad-precio. Las raciones son tan grandes que tuvimos que pedir que la camarera para poner la comida en cajas ir. Sin duda vamos a volver por más.

We tried this place out a few months back when it was called 'The Merry Monk'. It has now changed hands and undergone a major refurbishment in very good taste. It used to be simply a Sports Bar where the footy fans filled all the space, were quite rowdy and the whole ambience of the place was contrary to where one would bring a family.
