Came here for a dinner for 5. Great atmosphere and decent priced food. Not really authentic, but tasty. Catered for a British taste and using local veg instead. Lovely staff, good drinks selection, good food. Curry could have been thicker but would come back

3 meat eaters and 1 veggie. Everyone was happy with their food. Not one complaint from anyone. Starter and main costs about £17 ish. That's really good value. Really good choice of lager and ale. The staff were attentive but not in the way. All in all we will be back as a group and I can't wait to bring others here. Top marks to the owner/landlord.

We visited 6pm on Sat. Four of us. Three of us had Thai one had Fish n Chips. The Thai food was great. I had Prawn stir fry with cashew nuts ginger n lots of huge prawns n veg. I had egg fried rice and was enough for me. My friend had the curry. I thought maybe it could have been more but she was satisfied enough as she had a starter. Andy had a nice dish of stir fry n prawns and my partner had fish n chips. The fish a bit overdone by his account as the batter looked very hard. But he said the fish was nice. Had ice cream after. It was the best ice cream we’ve ever had. So yummy. The service was excellent. Very pleasant young ladies who were very attentive. The prices were amazing. £5 for a starter and £10 for a main. No one else does it at that price. If you want extras they do an extra choice too at very good rates. Can’t wait to go back. Car park right next door. Lovely little cosy pub. Great to eat there and socialise. So friendly including the lovely landlord. Mo Sheppard.

A traditional English pub at its best, with a buzzing atmosphere of locals on virtually any night, and the most complete range of pump ales for miles around. But the icing on the cake is its Thai food! Freshly cooked to order, and absolutely authentic and delicious. Highly recommended.

I was truly shocked at how utterly delicious the thai food was, bursting with flavour, and far better than normal pub food, its certainly better than some restaurants i have been in, the pub on a cold night was warm and cosy with a lovely real fire, and even coat hooks above radiator to warm up or dry coats, before venturing back out, the staff and management were super friendly and attentive and so eager to please, this is one for another visit for sure.. Thank you so much eveyone for making the evening such a lovely one...

Great proper pub with real ales and with added bonus of brilliant Thai food cooked by chefs (not just microwaved) friendly bar staff and warm surroundings.

We have been to the royal sovereign many times now. A wonderful little cosy pub. The Thai food is some of the best Thai food I have had. Big portions, lots of flavour, lots of choice, great prices. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for Thai food. Owners and staff are also really lovely, they always remember us and make the effort to make me and my partner feel welcome. A real gem.

Good old fashioned pub, lovely real fire and welcoming on a cold, wet evening. Very good Thai food especially Thai fish cakes. Generous portions.

Lovely staff and owner, great layout. Proper old boozer but not awkward like some are nowadays (as a young person!) Fireplace, dogs, good Guinness, what else could you ask for.

We love this real pub. Always welcomed by the Landlord, delicious Thai food, great open fire in the colder months, people talk and communicate, dog-friendly, clean, comfortable with appealing memorabilia. Great location, staff and well-kept beer. Slightly pricey but you get what you pay for!

Gorgeous Thai food, but was left lacking

Went here for a birthday celebration meal. Excellent food and customer service. Charlie was especially helpful in describing the dishes as a couple in the party weren't keen on spicy food. She advised them on the dishes that were less spicy. We all had a great time and will definitely be back. THe Harveys was great as well.

Had a table for 3 last night and haven’t been since before lockdown. Can not fault it one bit - great food, great atmosphere, great staff and great price ! The portions were huge and the quality was fantastic - superb. Will definitely be back. Thank you x

Having recently moved and trying to find a really good authentic Thai restaurant in the area, we went for a meal here. The service was very friendly, and the starters were lovely. The main course was unremarkable but overall for what we paid it was good value for money. Still searching for that exceptional Thai food.....

Roast dinner here was great. 6 different veg all cooked beautifully. Plus usual spuds, yorkie etc. All hot food. Big plates, loads of lovely, thick gravy. Have to say best roast I've had in Shoreham so far. Young lady serving food was excellent, great, attentive service, can't fault her. Coped well with a busy service. Lost one star for bar service. The woman behind bar was more interested in chatting with people than serving or getting the bill for people.

Cosy little pub in the side street in Shoreham. It's very English pub charm continues through to the staff, who are chatty and friendly. The locals bring their dogs and even though it gets quite packed in the bar area at weekends the service at the bar is efficient. In the back of the pub is a dining area with pictures of the olden days on the walls. The food is very reasonably priced and the portions compared to last time I was there have increased. It is famous in Shoreham for serving lovely Thai food and my friends who went with the Asian dishes said it was lovely. I stuck to the good old chilli con carne which was delicious. It's not fine dining and there is no pomp but if you fancy a nice meal in a cosy pub with friendly staff then this place is just right.

This pub is tucked away down a side street and is much larger inside than it looks from the outside. Very genial host, possibly too large menu of pub classics and "Thai" dishes. We went in earlier in the afternoon to book and were told that they didn't start taking orders till 6.00pm, but when we returned at 5.00 for a drink, our order was taken early. Probably a mistake to go for the Thai. I can't remember what I had but it was so obviously a sachet of very salty sauce over some vegetables with Jasmine Rice on the side. However, the King Prawns were indeed regal - very big and meaty (if you can call fish meaty) My friend had an Pad Thai was absolutely enormous - so much so that we were able to take it away with us! Again, probably not the best Pad Thai but the pub owners were so friendly and genial that it made up for any culinary inadequacies. Perhaps try something from the pub classics menu, but well worth a visit. But don't visit if you don't like dogs, as every visitor seemed to bring their four-legged companion in.

Amazing place ,I can't believe I've never been before,The food was really good only downside was the other diners were really loud,but it could have just been a one off.

Been a couple of times now, love it here the food is exceptional. Took my son tonight who had the red curry, he said he’s never tasted better! Best to book as, rightly so, the tables go quick.

Delicious Thai food. Friendly attentive staff. Harveys, Directors and Doom Bar on offer. Only thing that spoilt it for us were two people vaping - clouds of toxic fumes in a small pub isn't good, maybe they'll consider barring it. I couldn't mark it less than 5 for that though.

There is nothing really wrong with this place. The service is good and the serves of food were generous. It just isn't exciting, the decor is dated and there is no wow factor at all. There are other Italian food places in Brighton that are so much better.

We just stumbled into this place. What a delight, lovely ambience with the fountain, superb service and gorgeous food. We had the Arancini, Seared King Prawn, Skinny Fries, Club Slaw, Sourdough & Pecan Pie. It was ALL just so nice. The service was superb from Megan, Grace, Charlie & Tom. Clearly assets to themselves and to the restaurant. Keep up the superb work and will DEFO be back when we come back to Brighton. Thanks so much Andy & Joanie

There is a picture below of a roast from 2 years ago. Unfortunately that doesn’t resemble what was served to us today. I didn’t take a photo but it was a very sorry plate of food. Both is us had one quarter of a carrot each, one sprout of broccoli, no swede. My beef was literally a few wafer thin slices. When we went to get a desert because we were still hungry we were told the kitchen was closed but they managed to scrape together two brownies and ice cream. The service was just as tragic. From the moment we entered it was as if we were serving them, a real struggle to manage a warm welcome. My father has ran two pubs in his life and always did his utmost to make people feel welcome and this pub only had around 10 people so it wasn’t as if they were rushed off their feet. Even worse, never were we asked if we enjoyed our meal. How you can’t do that is beyond me or is it that you are aware of the below average roasts you are offering. It was so disappointing considering this is, on the face of it, a proper traditional pub. Of which I have given an extra star, otherwise I would have given it one.

My mother and I went to the Sovereign for lunch today. We always enjoy the food and get good service there. Today was no exception, thanks to Emily, Megan and particularly Ildi.

The best Thai food around. Highly recommended. My wife is vegetarian and they have a lot of options for her too. 5/5 from us!

I have lived in shoreham all my life and rarely visited the Royal Sovereign but when we did finally visit the 1st thing i noticed was it smelt like a pub, you could smell the beer and I think thats what a pub should smell like, just my opinion of course. The staff were lovely, very polite and friendly. The glasses were clean, no water marks. Very traditional and welcoming.

My friend and l throughly enjoyed the roast dinner experience on a Sunday. She said it was like her mother in law dinners. Mine my mums with gravy in a sauce boat. Local farm meats very tasty with plenty of veg with condiments. You can have 1 or 2 or 3 course meal for set price good value. My friend and l will be working down the menu. Do thai food as well. Place recommend

Ok , so you pay for what you get , but it wasn’t £1.99 on special at the supermarket , this was supposed to be decent pub food. The entire meal looked and tasted like it was from an old box in the freezer. As a pub, it’s not a bad place to have a drink, but avoid eating here unless you like heated frozen Thai food.

Absolutely terrible, unless you like Chinese food from a can. Tried the noodles which my dog wouldn’t of touched. Rude manager, dirty and one to avoid !

Started off ok, but then the food came. Neither of us could eat more than 3 mouthfuls , literally uneatable! Worse still, when we complained (nicely) , they told us there was nothing wrong with it and would not refund us . Staff rude and arrogant, manager worse. Then, to top it off - they said we were barred! Unbelievable , honestly! I never complain , but thought I could save someone from experiencing the royal sovereign’ .I’ll never go back as their customer service is absolutely awful . Avoid at all cost

As someone who works in the industry I genuinely hate leaving bad reviews but 9.95 for a burger that genuinely seems like it’s a rustlers, if your going to charge decent money at least provide decent food. If you want to eat I’d suggest avoid, if your just after a drink, seems like a decent place
