The Waiting Room in Dover

Visited a couple of times recently and numerous times in the 60s to collect Season Tickets! The coffee is excellent and should make an independent close by look to it's laurels and with the local butcher almost opposite showcasing their bacon and sausages in the Panini I had at The Waiting Room, it's a win-win for both businesses. As the toilet gets more than a mention in reviews, it's a shame that it's been allowed to get shabby as a lot of thought (and money?) obviously was behind it, some of the grouting cleverly referencing the East Kent Road Car Company livery: please give it the care it deserves? Nonetheless I wouldn't hesitate to return, or recommend, as the effort to transform this Arts and Crafts gem, at last, was worth the wait. (D'you see what I did there?)

Lovely cup of coffee - Americano with cold milk on the side - and a very friendly atmosphere. Well recommended. We’ll be back.

A nice place to stop in the centre of Sandwich for a coffee and baguette staff friendly and welcoming. It ticked the boxes for what we wanted at the time

Lovely coffee shop and friendly staff. I wish I was hungry to try their food but I was lacking my caffeine intake and needed a cup of coffee.

WE sat outside on a lovely sunny October day and had either special deal bacon/sausage baguette or filled sandwich with coffee/tea . Interesting to sit and see the world go by

Good coffee, bacon baguette very tasty and good service with a warm welcome. All in all a great place.

Great for a morning coffee. Also had a beer in the evening and that was great too! We brought our relatives from Norway who loved it!

The Waiting Room was originally just that, now transformed into a smart atmospheric coffee shop and bar. Service was great, food was great and the setting was really worth seeing.

Beautifully refurbished cafe in the centre of the town. Great coffee and brownies. Very friendly staff.

This was an absolutely lovely little restored cafe which was open early evening and served exceptional coffee and played great jazz music. I would have liked to have tried the food if we hadn’t already eaten earlier.

Saw the reviews and thought we would support this independent over Costa. First off, great coffee. Pastries also tasty. Nice atmosphere on a rainy Saturday morning. Top marks!

Lovely relax little cafe. Had a chicken and chorizo sandwich with some cake. It was a busy weekend but there was a seat inside that did not feel stuffy with the weather.

What a little gem this place is, decorated beautifully what a sun trap! The new glass doors are a fabulous addition & you must see the stunning toilet.., yes I did say toilet! The brands they serve are top notch, and the service set by Jack & his team is first class… long may it continue… cheers guys Thank you

The Waiting Room is always our first port of call when we visit or stay weekends in Sandwich. Great coffee, cakes, Kent Crisps which I love plus ooh fabulous cocktails in the evenings! Not forgetting to mention the friendly attentive staff and vibrant village/town atmosphere.

Popped in here midweek evening after dinner for a quick coffee; ended up staying a couple of hours for a couple of extra drinks dn listening to the music. Lovely, quirky location. Great atmosphere and fantastic to have a late night coffee location open midweek. Will definitely be back, and very eager to try the afternoon tea!

Quirky but lovely really enjoyed our juices and cakes. The brownie was just how I like it thick and fudgy and the juice sweet and flavoursome. Clean and friendly too

Ended up here after waiting too long at the Strands Kitchen, ironically. Zero wait for service, very friendly sky staff, excellent lattés, and super cute café.

just had mid morning coffee and brownies which were excellent. Coffee freshly ground. Lovely old building with lots of history. Owner very friendly and welcoming. Other food looked very good. Oh and dog friendly and licensed!!

Quirky little hub right in the middle of the town. Perfect place for tea, coffee, cider or a glass of Prosecco ! Staff couldn’t be friendlier with bright smiles 😄
