Give the Vine a miss. If you do visit make sure you wear warm clothing. You will need it. Total lack of heating at all. Somedays it is warmer outside than inside. London drink prices. IE, Can of Coke £2.40. Crisps £1.40 ETC No food, contrary to the Vines advert. Live music ?????? Never seen it.

Long wait for food (40 mins) although hardly anyone in the pub. Order was wrong so one plate taken back, took 20 minutes for replacement by which time other meal had been eaten. Chips clearly just put back in the fryer to heat up again. Plate just plonked down again with no apology or acknowledgment of spoilt meal. When I said this the guy said ‘why should I apologise, I didn’t take the order’. Very poor customer service and mediocre food, best avoided.

Thoroughly enjoyable evening, full of drinks, laughter and great friendly service. You’ll always find a good laugh at this pub and some great characters. The garden is a very nice, enjoyable area to spend time in, especially in the sunshine. The food certainly hits all the right spots as do the pints. Can’t recommend this place enough!

We went here today for a last minute family lunch. Beautiful garden, secure and children’s play area with new equipment. Food was lovely, reasonable, with an excellent menu, good choice of drinks and Spencer and his team who looked after us couldn’t have done more. Spencer literally didn’t sit still and nothing was too much trouble. Very very impressed, and appreciative of the hard work everyone was putting in. We had an absolutely lovely time. Thank you so much

We haven’t been in the Vine for sometime and this was an exceptional Sunday Lunch. I had the nut roast with roast potatoes, carrots, mashed swede, broccoli with Yorkshire pudding and gravy, opps forgot the small ball of stuffing. To top it off the plates were hot.My husband had the roast beef and had the same vegetable as myself. For desert I had ice cream and my husband had Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. What was nice, it was 20% off for people who had served in the armed services, because it was Armistice Day.

Don’t waste your money here! Management are taking multiple bookings for larger groups and then deciding who will keep their booking and who will be let down; presumably depending on what planned event is likely to be the most profitable! Our family booked a lunchtime buffet to follow a Christening. According to the diary at the time of confirmation, no other bookings had been taken that day. However; once all the invites had been printed and sent out and arrangements made, they called to say they had tripled booked for the same time on the same day and were therefore cancelling two bookings; ours being one of them! Disgraceful behaviour. Please don’t become a victim of their despicable practices!

We booked The Vine for 40 guests for our son's christening party. We went for the finger buffet and the food was plentiful and it was nicely laid out and done to a good standard. They also catered well for our guests with dietary requirements. The drinks were all very reasonably priced as well. The Staff were all polite and well mannered and were very helpful. they even let us put balloons and bunting up.Overall this is a good venue for any occasion and i would recommend it to any that needs somewhere to hold a gathering.

Went with a large group for Sunday lunch. Although I cannot fault the staff the meal was only just warm, the beef was tough, veg was over cooked, not a very nice meal at all.

No ofrecen 3 lasaña vegetariana.

Our first visit to The Vine today, based on TA recommendations, and we were not disappointed. Excellent service from the bar staff and Jamie, the waiter. Reserved a table for 4 at 2pm. We arrived expecting it to be really busy, but it was comfortably so, and we were shown straight to our table. New chef has recently arrived at the vine from the Hotel du Vin in Brighton - and he certainly knows his stuff!!Had three roast beefs and 1 nut roast, as the pork had run out. All were cooked to perfection with plenty of gravy, stuffing and large Yorkies. Beef was tender, moist, tasty and beautifully pink. Roast potatoes were crispy outside and fluffy inside, just as they should be. Cauliflower cheese, carrots, red cabbage, green beans were all excellently cooked and presented. All in all, a triumph and amazing value for a tenner a head. Will definitely be back soon. Outstanding

Very good sandwiches here. I went here after a visit to the Denver Botanical Gardens. Very nice casual place with good service. There were six adults and two babies and we had no trouble finding a table to fit us all in. We started with their famous pub fries with extra cheese. My wife had a going bird sandwich which was a chicken based. I had the speakeasy sandwich that was steak based with their own garlic mayo. Everything we had was very good including The vegetarian food my daughter had. They have a great selection of beer as most places in Colorado seem to have. Service was very good with a knowledgeable waitress and quick service for a party as large as ours. I will go back.

They had a good selection of Ale's and Lager's on tap, one of my fellow cyclists found his ale to be dull and lifeless and it was changed without complaint and the ale taken off pending further investigation as you'd expect from a good pub. There's also a nice patio / garden area at the rear of the bar should you be lucky and get good weather. We expect to return.

Visited this pub today for their Saturday Easter egg hunt. We were a party of 9, 4 adults and 5 children. We had a lovely lunch, I myself had the chicken korma which tasted great. The staff were very friendly and helped the children with the easter egg hunt, they then got to decorate their own eggs and make chocolate cakes...all for £2! The only downfall to our visit was a large table with a party of about 15 customers who seemed intent on creating a bad atmosphere and wrongfully complaining to the staff about anything and everything...seemed to me they were after a free meal! The pub is recently under new management and I think they are doing a fantastic job! Definitely recommend!

The staff seemed to think they were too good for their jobs and were not very attentive.Starter:I had Brie in breadcrumbs which was soggy, my partner ordered creamy mushrooms but ended up with deep fried mushroom in breadcrumbs and our friend had Wait Bait which smelled extremely fishy and didn't even come with a slice of lemon Mains: I had lasagna which was terrible, I have no idea you could mess up such a simply dish. The garlic bread tasted like butter and lazy garlic, the lasagna its self had no béchamel sauce and about 2cms of orange grease on the top of it (I sent this back and declined more food). My partner had a bog standard Ham Egg & Chips. Our friend had a caesar salad which consisted of mix leaves, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, chicken, bacon and parmesan not a traditional caesar salad and we also had to request the caesar dressing! Desert: We did not dare eat anymore after the terrible first courses. Not only the above... during our meal the staff kept popping the the Tesco around the corner for more salad and another things for the kitchen also the WIFI did not work.I would not recommend to anyone, had to write this review as everyone else on here seems to think it is amazing. We returned to this establishment after two years. The pub has had several different managers but we were curious to see what it was like now. One of the old managers had jazz nights which proved quite popular with locals but when new management took over the jazz moved on elsewhere. Unfortunately the locals followed suit. The new manager and staff were friendly. The food was plentiful and the menu has been extended quite a lot. I had a chicken dish which was really nice and my husband had lamb shank which he enjoyed immensely. They have brightened up the dining area, but there still seems a way to go on the decorating I think - although it still felt cosy. Value for money was good -we will be back again - and I am sure everyone will give it another try and discover it is once again on the up !

I was taken here for a birthday lunch on 31 August. There were16 of us, and very few other customers for food. Having written down our orders as we were fed up with waiting for anyone to show any interest in our order, we waited about half an hour for some very mediocre luke warm soup. The main courses took another half an hour. Hard vegetables, my chilli had no rice, but stacks of nachos and about a dessert spoonful of meat. One of our party had gravy spilt on her - good job it was not very hot! Coffees were served before the sweets which were limited in choice - not even cheese and biscuits on offer. No asking if everything was satisfactory and one of the most off hand and rude bosses I've met for many a year. Good job the company was good. Wonder why none of us will rush back for a return visit!!!!

The Vine Tarring. Booked a table for 1pm, just in case (always wise). Started with a delicious Virgin Mary (me driving) and ordered the Roast Beef. Got to say it was fantastic. Beef just off pink, but moist and melted in the mouth, crispy tatties, wonderful creamy mashed swede, awesome brocolli and delicious gravy. Oh...and a ball of stuffing too (which was a nice surprise). Crispy yorkshire finished it off nicely. Everything homemade, fresh and awesomely presented. I was actually full after finishing everything off, but managed a walk to the garden/patio and ordered the home made deep apple pie and ice cream in the sunshine. Again......WOW. For £7.95 for 1 course, and £9.95 for 2 courses, this place cannot be beaten. Lovely friendly staff, kiddy and dog friendly, nothing to much trouble this is one to try. On a sunny day like today, the lovely enclosed garden and patio was brilliant, there's a childrens play area at the top of the garden too to keep the little monkeys amused. A small selection of wines, and a good prosecco on order which will please the bubble fanatics. Great beer selection too. Definitely one NOT to miss. Booking is advised as this place is quickly gaining an excellent reputation.I've got to give this place 10/10 ! Visited here with friends recently knowing it had changed hands and having read some reviews thought we’d see what it was like. We booked a table a couple of days before but this wasn’t necessary as the restaurant was empty. Having ordered our food we noticed that there was a notice for a disco that evening and some equipment was in the corner. It soon became obvious that the eating area was next to the music area when people started moving tables and chairs. Even though it wasn’t supposed to start until 8.00 the music started 20 minutes before just as we started our first course. We therefore said to the manager that we would only have the starter as clearly to eat in the midst of loud music was not going to be a pleasurable experience. There were no other free tables outside the music area The manager clearly understood and was apologetic and we only paid for the starters, the drinks being gratis. However, it was a great pity the person that took the booking (think from the voice it was the manager) did not mention the music when we booked. Therefore although the food for the starter was good we did not have the opportunity to sample the main course. We had a main course at another local pub restaurant that never fails to let us down and the food is normally excellent.

After visiting friends in the area we stopped in the vine for something to eat and drink.we were warmly met by the manager who was the perfect host.food was top notch and was equally matched by the real ales. Definitely worth the visit and will be going again very soon.

The vine is a beautiful little pub in worthing. Fantastic garden, dining area, bar area. Well decorated, well presented! The food is fantastic, all local meats and fresh. I was spolit for choice on the amount of different drinks. Fabulous choice of local ales. The staff are friendly, chatty and happy. I would say just go and have a look.... The pub is now doing well after the re vamp the new land lord has done. This place is a must go

We stopped for dinner at this cosy pub on the way hope from a day out in Worthing. I have to say after reading a local report in the paper we thought we would pop in and see for ourselves the refreshed pub. We were not disappointed, cosy inside, great large garden and a menu that spoils you for choice. The Brie wedges were amazing and there burgers are that from a posh restaurant would happily recommend this as a stop for anyone. Friendly staff and great locals make this a perfect stop.

Went here with the intention of having something to eat but for the price of the drinks we would at least expect to sit on chairs that didnt feel like they were about to collapse. (Gave an average rating for food as didnt even order as felt so unwelcome but it may be good) We do like the old style pubs but this place takes it a step too far - definetly needs new furniture. Also not very welcoming when doorways are blocked by smokers and barmaid is more interested in reading her newspaper than serving anyone.

We went here a couple of weekends ago, at 6pm on a Saturday night after hearing it had reopened. We used to use this pub every so often and whilst the previous landlady was clearly in the wrong profession, we enjoyed the food and wine. This time we were completely disappointed, nothing has really changed. Before you even get in the pub you have to manouver around the smokers who congrgate around the door. I pity the people who live in the surrounding houses, I have no idea why the manager doesn't insist on the smoking taking place in the beer garden. it was actually quite intimidating, however we thought we would give it a try. Inside nothing has changed, it looks dated and hardly any seats in the actual bar area. The few regulars they do seem to have are sat around the bar and the language was absolutely horrendous. You certainly would not want to bring children in here. At no time were they asked to keep it down. We only had one drink as we actually felt quite uncomfortable. I noticed that on the wall was a notice from the council as the pub had had complaints regarding noise , I felt that this was merely displayed as almost a badge of honour, a pub ASBO, not as a reminder to the clientele. We were hoping to eat but as we didn't enjoy the atmosphere we downed our drinks and left. When we got outside we were greeted by one of the smokers shouting across the street to his friends whilst clearly urinating in the corner of the entrance to the car park. Delightful! As long as these types of people are encouraged there will be no hope for this establishment. It seems to get the bad leftovers from The George & Dragon. The sooner it closes and someone takes it on as maybe a restaurant the better.AVOID.

me and my Family always used to drink in this pub however about 2 years ago they changed managers and it all went down hill from there.they put a really moody and rude! owner in there and within 6 months they had no locals left in there one by one she upset them all!!!however as i write this on the 28th may 2013.i went in the other day and it is under new management again but the new owners could not help you enough! (Ron and Kay) have taken this pub on when it was at its lowest and done a superb job of bringing this pub back to former glory i am now a loyal local again Ron and Kay are there to stay and they really pull out all the stops for anyone who walks through the door.if your a local your beer is on the bar before you even arrive which is always nice to feel welcome.the vine is a very friendly pub with a good atmosphere and brilliant choice of cold beer and food and all the locals are as friendly as they come.Fridays they normally have live bands.(always a laugh)sometimes have live bands Saturdays and Sundays as well.the food is superb from bar snacks/food to roasts Kay does a brilliant job. if you are a veggie don't worry just talk to Kay and she will make whatever you would like to order. nothing is a problem!!the pub is very old and i would recommend to anyone to come and have a drink and learn the history of when it was a brewery and how it all come about.Honestly don't take my word for it come down and see for yourself. The Vine27-29 High StreetTarringWest WorthingWest SussexBN14 7NNtel: 01903 202891BEST PUB IN WORTHING!

Having been advised that the Vine was under new management, I have paid three visits over the Christmas period, one on a Saturday lunch time, one on a Tuesday evening and the last on a Sunday afternoon during the Ale festival. The first positive is that the beer has been of a consistently high quality. On every occasion the bar staff have been friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is a little lacking, but I think over time when more people realise that the offensive previous landlady has departed, then more people will use the Vine and the atmosphere will pick up. I have not tried the food, but friends who have report that it is good pub grub at very reasonable prices. As for Jcbon comments about the cleaning, all I can say is that it a marked improvement on the very low standards set by the previous landlady. Will visit again in the near future to see if the improvements continue. Only marked as 3 star due to the lack of atmosphere otherwise it would have been a 4 star.

Really looking forward to a few drinks in the Vine under new management as many years ago this pub used to be the best in Worthing. The bar staff were friendly enough, the beer fine but on a Saturday night after 8pm I do not expect to see children under 5 running round the pub unsupervised. No wonder the place was as dead under the new management as it was under the offensive old one.Shame as it would be good to have two good pubs in Tarring

Always loved the food and atmosphere here on previous occasions but today was awful. Call that food. As for the welcome and all that rubbish that's exactly what it was!!

We went to the Vine on a saturday evening with family who were visiting. The welcome was good and the staff were friendly and cheerful, we were even shown to the table near the radiators as it was very cold outside and we must have looked frozen. Our order was dealt with quickly and the food was hot and there was lots of it, only just managed to finish my main course so unfortunately no room left for pudding! Atmosphere wise it could have been a bit busier which would have helped but as I understand the pub is under new management and it takes time for business to be built up especially as the reviews for the previous management were not good. I wish the new people well as we had a good evening out and will visit again.

Lovely atmosphere, really good food and excellant value for money compared with the last lot that had the pub. The new managers are really nice, helpful and friendly and the pub is so welcoming, what a difference. A great pub to relax, drink and eat. Will definately be back.

The new managers at the Vine are clearly working very hard to pick this pub up and get it on its feet again. The food may be labelled as “traditional pub grub” but, frankly, we felt the fish and chips were far better than the last few times we experienced the previous chef’s ‘gastro-pub’ offering. The aim seems to be to keep it simple but good – and is hitting that nail on the head. The staff are also far friendlier and keen to serve you food and drink with a smile – another improvement. It has certainly encouraged us to go back and to recommend it to others.

Although new to the pub the management have worked hard in the few weeks they have been there, cleaning, scrubbing making it a bright and cheerful pub. The food menu is all how a pub should be, proper pub grub, all homemade and piping hot on the plate and extremely delicious. Very good value for money , yum yummy. Went in there with Sunday roast on our minds, ended up with scampi, steak n ale pie and bbq ribs, all with chips, mmmmmm.. Can't wait to go back.

Walking into the Vine can feel a little bit like a scene in Deliverance - there is a distinctly 'cliquey' feel to the place.I was with a group of old friends, so we made our own atmosphere, but it's not the place for a romantic tryst. After you settle in though, there is good grub to be had in the back and at least you won't struggle to find a table.

Have never met such a rude obnoxious land lady . 4 people in the bar on a sun afternoon she deserves to go bust. Wake up smell the coffee and realise you work in the service industry. And your food ain't that good either. Left after being treat like the dog pooh on her shoe and went to the Thomas a Beckett oh my god what a change.

The beer is good, the food is average the landlady is rude, unfriendly and not at all helpful. Shame really as this pub has so much potential to be a really traditional pub. Will only visit again if my friends insist.

Went there for lunch just before Christmas. We sat at the large table in the bar as there was a large party in the back. There was a large TV on the wall by the table. As we were the only people in the bar we asked if it could be turned down a bit so we could talk and were told no as the customers like it. As we were the only people in the bar for the whole time we were in there, that was not very welcoming and very irritating. We ordered food. The burger was huge and nice. I had fish and chips which was greasy and full of bones and swimming in mushy peas - yuk. The Liver and bacon looked nice but the mash was full of mustard!! Good choice of beer, but won't eat in there again.

Loved the cooking, nice pub garden & the landlord is a really nice chap (& a great cook). However, service front of house is very variable & can at times be really unfriendly . There are too many rules & comments that can stifle the atmosphere in the pub. Front of house seriously needs to look at the way it treats it's customers.

Went today for a couple of coffees, after waiting 5 minutes some young guy who had been folding napkins eventually wandered over looking most disinterested. I asked for 2 coffees and he said ' can't do hot drinks '. No apology or reason why. Needless to say with 2 other places nearby, West Park and The Waverley, where you feel welcome will not be coming back here.

Not eaten here yet, but looking at the menu there is only one vegan choice.....
