Not worth it. Had roast lunch, rushed to order for nothing but an over priced at best “average” roast. I have tried boiled potatoes crunchier than the ones on these plates with the beef slices served thicker than a well done steak. No apple sauce, you’re offering roast pork & it’s a Sunday. Unable to offer a till receipt, till still broken, but they are more than happy to take cash ….. interesting. What could be a really lovely country pub currently offering the same food, service, standard that your every day carvery could beat. All with a hint of something strange going on.

I find it very surprising when a pub advertises cask ales available and you walk in and they have no ales of any description, I was offered Newcastle brown ale out of a bottle as an option!! The food was very good but took a very long time to reach our table. It’s very sad to experience the decline of the pub as my wife and I have been regulars for a very long time and always enjoyed the quality of the hospitality. This is the first time I have found it necessary to write a review but feel very passionate about the survival of this establishment things really need to improve.

This was our favourite pub but sadly the new landlord/lady have no idea about customer service. We wanted to book a party and waited an hour and a half to speak to the landlord but he was too busy/in the shower/alseep. We booked a time to see him the next day but he was then out! Great hopes for an exciting menu but it’s the same old with a lot of chips. We spoke to locals who had awful tales of an hour wait for starters or no food! The girl behind the bar was surly and actually sat and ate her food in the public bar while customers around her waited!! There’s no wifi and no landline - do they want custom? What a shame -this pub used to the hub of the village until ill health forced the old landlady to stop. Let’s hope someone steps in before the current landlord runs it into the ground.

I wouldn't recommend, didn't have a nice welcome, lady behind the bar was abrupt, no welcome smiles etc. Cutlery just on the table with folded napkins, anyone could have touched those. Dogs in the conservatory while people eating, should be a place where dogs aren't allowed due to some people that are either allergic, or scared of dogs. Dogs should only be in the bar area. The atmosphere wasn't very welcoming. Not many tables in bar area for just 2 people. Not good to see a gentleman behind the bar rolling a cigarette, while handling menus and walking back towards the kitchen. Very un hygienic, also going out to smoke with customers is not really professional. The reputation the place had before has now lost! It has gone down not improved. There is a long way to go to make it better.

I ordered a beef Sunday lunch my partner had the nut roast, I thoroughly enjoyed my beef lunch. One thing I did not like was it was served with veg on plate , I prefer veg on a side plate , my partner had the nut roast and thoroughly enjoyed it and would have it again .The service was excellent and owner should be proud of there staff , They all looked as though they are enjoying the work. That is good to see.

First visit to this charming village pub ,it was a Monday so not very busy but the greeting was friendly, the menu varied and sensibly priced . We all had the spring rolls followed by the beef bourguignon which was delicious. The staff were particularly helpful when we asked to move table to escape a particularly loud group of "Ok Yahs" who were obviously not regulars . We will certainly be visiting again

Used to be a great pub to drop in for lunch when on a dog walk (particularly as they have a lovely beer garden) but sadly no more! Called in today half way though a dog walk as usual, but apparently can now only get food if you have booked a table in advance. Sat in the garden (where only 4 tables were in use) but couldn’t even get a bowl of chips. They did allow us to have a drink, but even that seemed to be with some reluctance. Not very welcoming at all. Sadly, will be looking elsewhere in future and wouldn’t recommend anyone casually dropping in without a booking

What a truly lovely pub, with great customer service, friendly staff and excellent food. I walked my dogs over the ridings (Nr Watership down) and for the last 2 miles i was kept going by the thought of a pint and some hot food. I was warmly welcomed (as were my dogs) and served quickly and politely.. I had the duck spring rolls, Sirloin Steak, Sticky Toffee pudding, each and all was excellent.. well cooked, nicely presented and a good portion size. I bagged a chair by the fire and my dogs fell asleep in the relaxed and toasty environment. Each member of staff was friendly, helpful and made a fuss of my dogs, they were made as welcome as I was, I would recommend this lovely pub, it’s food and it’s friendly service… thoroughly enjoyed it.

We were in the area on business and didn’t break for lunch until 2pm. Found this pub signposted along a narrow country lane from the main road and were relieved to find the kitchen still open. There was a cosy area with an open fire and a huge restaurant area. We sat at a table in the sunny window and ordered a real ale and a large white wine. The Dirty tackle beer was fresh and well kept and the Sauvignon good and reasonable at £5.75. My husband ordered the steak and ale pie which he said was very good and the veg well cooked. My burger was OK but I have had better for £12. It was a little gristley and the chips of the frozen variety and a bit anaemic. We would call again if in the area.

We have visited this pub twice now... the first time I was disappointed with my meal, it was tasty but the size of it was too small for the price. Found the pub lacking atmosphere, a very sterile environment. However we decided to go back a second time... I have to say, the staff are lovely, the service is really good but the food was very sadly average. I had chorizo and sun dried tomato pasta with garlic bred, it was swimming with oil at the bottom, I had to tilt my plate to so it all drained down. For a £12 dish I expect a little more. The pub was still lacking a little atmosphere. Really sad to be writing this as I believe it’s capable of much more.. husband also disappointed with his meal, it’s sometging that you could more than easily cook at home with a better outcome..

Having eaten several times at the Vine, it was a holiday treat, we yet again frequented the pub. Our order was simple as we fancied fish & chips I had my customary lime cordial and soda husband a pint bitter. Food arrived looked great but chips lovely, peas ok as was the tartare sauce, but the fish..... it was watery, and completely flavourless like it had been taken straight from the freezer into the fryer. It wasn't cheap either £13.50 per person. The soda was like as if they had forgotten the cordial and was charged at £2.50 which I considered expensive.. But we always like to give a second chance so we returned Sunday for a roast. The potatoes roasted had been reheated so much the insides were almost yellow and had lost all their crispness. The beef tough, the lamb tough. The only thing edible was the veges. So sad. Whether they have changed their chef I don't know but it was once upon a time one of our favourite places to eat. Perhaps we chose the wrong items from the menu. We declined dessert.

4 of us came to eat early evening, it wasn’t busy, service was pleasant and attentive at the beginning, but tailed off towards the end of the evening. We all enjoyed our food, all three courses! The only thing I wouldn’t personally recommend was the chipolata sausage starter, as the chipolatas were cheap and poor quality compared to what I would expect.

We asked for a table for 18 and this was expertly handled by the owner and staff - food was lovely and the pub is in a great setting, with Hannington being an archetypal English village! We shall return!

The best pub in actual countryside I have ever been in. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. The staff run it like a family with the lady owner at the front. The food was fantastic even serving specials like goats curry which I think is...

Last minute booking on a Saturday night. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was delicious, well cooked and well presented. For those people who find a normal portion too much there are several small choices available, each one as delicious as the next. For dessert the Chocolate Fudge Brownie is a must - absolutely amazing. For those people who are Coeliac sufferers or gluten intolerant there is a good variety of gluten free meals and desserts available and my husband assures me they are delicious too. Thoroughly recommend you give it a try. We will certainly be returning again and again.

I think this place is real example for how a local pub should be. We have driven from Basingstoke, the food is great, the staff are really helpful. The pie of the day was brilliant and everyone in our party loved their food.

Came in on a Friday night for dinner. Bad sign that we seemed to be the only ones in until a few more people arrived later in the evening. A couple of the meals were not up to scratch. The lady manager was very apologetic...

Two groups of walkers, totalling more than 20, arrived at The Vine for pre-ordered lunches. All enjoyed their food, mainly from the bar menu, and went off on their different routes within the hour. The food was all straightforward stuff but was served efficiently by...

Our first impression on entering was how warm, bright, and welcoming this pub was. Service was very friendly, there was a good choice on the menu, and the food was very nicely cooked. We both had the duck with plum sauce, which, although a little...

We called in to the Vine on a Sunday lunchtime in the middle of a walk in North Hampshire. The pub was spotlessly clean and the staff were very attentive. There was a selection of roast dinners as well as the usual bar food. The...

Called in for breakfast . I have visited before and found it quite nice although some of the staff can be a little curt. This time i was met with a miserable man with glasses , bellowing out orders. He handed me my order and proceeded with a very backward stereotype, a racial "joke". I don't expect to be racially abused when i am spending my hard earned money in your cafe. After his bigoted quip, he scurried off very quickly. I am glad he did as it was likely he d have had his glasses smacked off his head. Cheeky boy trying to belittle people when he's serving coffees for a living. I wont be back near the establishment as I don't support bigots.

Great staff, lovely to sit by the fire in the bar. Restaurant area felt a bit formal to me so stayed in the bar. Food was excellent but very small portions, and not cheap either. I had the gammon and could have eaten 2 plates.

Dropped in for a pint and something to eat, new menu recently so tried the Croque Monsieur. Kieren & Tyrone in the kitchens did a great job- better than I had in France! Real ham, loads of cheese and tasty sourdough toast with a decent side salad and dressing made a real plateful. Definitely having this again!

Visited The Hatch tonight for a birthday. At time of booking I let them know we needed wheelchair access. They’d clearly thought carefully about which table would be easily accessible - both the route to it and the table itself. Staff were considerate without being patronising. Sarah and Jazz in particular were brilliant but all the staff we encountered were great. The food was lovely too and the service was at a relaxed but good pace (didn’t feel rushed or like we were left waiting for anything). A really positive experience
