Amazing food. The best fish and chips I have ever had by far. Very good quality food and good portions. Staff very friendly. The best milk cake!

I go to this place regularly for a number of years and normally have Haddock, Jacket potatoes and onion rings. Food is always fresh and tasty. I feed my 80year old parents who are susceptible to poor quality food and trust them with food hygiene. They look forward to eating their meals from there.

The kebab was just a low level kebab, as you would expect from a food van outside of nightclub. The hilarious thing was they take away the top part of the pita bread so effectively you get half a portion. I’ve never seen that before so essentially they’re ripping you off with the bread. I have added a picture showing what I found after eating the top part of the kebab, which was all salad and a small amount of meat. I also ordered the silicon Carney chips and they were piping hot but absolutely flavourless. If it was drunk, I would be happy, but I’m not so you get a true review

This is my number one place to go great food every time with great friendly service.

Good quality and hot. The last time a phone call to ask if a 1/2 hour delay would be acceptable, no problem, turned up after 15 minutes.

Just enjoyed large cod and medium chips, the food was pipping hot and good quality. Definitely our favourite chippy in MK !!

I have been meaning to write this review for a while. I’ve never done it before on Google, especially never spent time to share positive feedback. This ‘plaice’ however… is AMAZING!! The fish is light, fluffy, fresh & full of the subtle flavour you’d expect from cod. The batter- equally light and fluffy, full of flavour, and; without that heaviness batter can risk bringing to this British classic. Service wise- not only are they efficient and polite when collect; they stand out for me re their customer service when delivery order also. I got my delivery (usually collect as very local,) and despite the food being perfect as usual, they forgot my vinegar:.: the manager has personally delivered it within minutes of me realising, over and above service - highly recommend

Stunning fish and chips. Also great kebabs and pies. We have moved away and hope to find a chippy as good as this one. Charlie

Just paid £40 pounds for a meal that made my 75 year old father physically sick! Please don’t eat from this place as I am having the remainder taken away to food standard agency experts as this seems contaminated! Will update with findings soon!

Just ordered rock and chips and large cod, OMG this place was amazing, fish was over cooked verging on burnt, £8.50 for rock that once bone was removed was tiny and burnt. Pineapple ring burnt!! £31.50 for two large chips large cod rock two chips and pineapple ring not good value at all. Really gone downhill since last visit 8 weeks ago.

What a meal didn't expect much but I was amazed at how much there was and how beautiful and good it was. Even the chips were crispy and fresh underneath all the cheese I ordered. The burger (Rockafeller) was a meal in itself. I would like to thank the staff there very rarely when they get a mention but in truth have never tasted food so good so thankyou, worth the extra cost of the meal.

Ordered a cod 2 savaloys 2 battered sausages and chips after returning home found out in of the children's savaloys was missing, tryed to call to complain and the phone just rang and rang! Avoid if u don't want to be disappointed

Nice fish, chips dry and lifeless, no batter bits

Had large cod and meat and chips. Cod was decent - non greasy, crispy and good size. Meat and chips was good too. Ordered on Uber Eats, arrived quickly and food was hot + well packaged. Would recommend. UPDATE - Ordered again and fish was very dry, so have dropped from 4 star to 3 star.

Excellent quality and service. Fish cooked fresh with a nice light batter. Spotlessly clean and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Every time I go to the The Village Plaice takeaway( no restaurant facility ) the fish and chips are excellent, before I retired I was in the business and have to say this shop, staff and proprietor deserves to be put forward for the National fish and chip shop awards. Excellent product, cleanliness and service.

Have some respect for the elderly and do not prioritise delivery drivers over them

I urge anyone to not have food from The Village Plaice fish n chip shop at the Whaddon Way shops. Tonight, a Elderly couple were standing outside in the freezing weather waiting to order food because inside a ramdom Deliveroo Driver was waiting, The owner would not allow anyone in due to a one person in the shop policy. After 6 minutes of waiting behind the elderly couple a ramdom Uber Eats driver then walked up and entered the shop. The elderly man opened the door and told the delivery guy he had to leave as he nor his wife were allowed into order until the other driver left as it was one person in policy and they were made to wait while the other driver was still in there!! The owner then told the elderly couple it was ok for him to be in there as he was collecting. The elderly man replied but you are making us wait outside in the cold as you wont allow two in the shop but it is ok for these two drivers to be in there together!! Which at that point I told the owner what I thought and went to another fish n chip shop. So, the owner would rather have two ramdom delivery drivers in his shop even though he states one in one out rule to everyone else!! And leave elderly paying customers outside in the cold!! I will never go back if that is how he treats his customers!! SO!! Please please boycott this chip shop and teach this owner a lesson!! Let him try and survive on his precious deliveroo drivers!!

The village plaice is advertised as having a restaurant.THERE IS NO RESTAURANT just a sit n wait for your takeaway. Very disapointing. Why advertise a restaurant when theyre aint one. I give it one star for false advertising.

Service well I was only 1 in there. Chips not that nice and sausage in batter is something I like was average at best. Empty shop may have been warning. Tried again on a Saturday and wow they lack under pressure poor service everyone disorganised! Go to say moores everyone knows there roles not hete

It's alright, batter needs a bit more crispness and chips need a little longer. Best in the local area though.

Food menu looks good and the staff was very helpful. I have gone for the biggest burger they have 4 stars for now I will upgrade to 5 is the food is as good as it sounds🤞 some time later and yes a dame good burger 👍

We come here at least twice a month for our Saturday fish and chips. Every time the food is cooked while you wait, we have never had a bad experience, one of the best fish and chip shops we have locally

This place is the best Fish and Chip shop by far. Everything is just cooked to perfection, from there Chips to the tastiest burgers, you will ever taste. I tried there Cod and Chips for the first time, as I tend to have the same food each time. But fancied Fish, this was the best Cod, I have tasted in my life (53 years). The fish was perfect and simply fell off the bone , as it should. I didn't want this meal to end. Even there spicy potatoes are to die for. Thank you "The Village Plaice"

Quality of fish and chips remains fine since my last visit however the price of food has gone up by more than the rate of inflation. It is starting to become not value for money.

I had 2 saveloys and chips I only live 2 minutes walk from the chippy and when I got in the saveloys were cold

Food is good, service friendly and bright, prices are reasonable. Portion sizes are very good. Could be improved with a better ordering system, doorway got a bit blocked up

came here not knowing it had changed hands and it was a pleasant surprise! The menu is outstanding for a chippy the place is clean and bright,there are seats there to sit on while you wait for your food to be cooked(if it isn't already cooked) the staff are friendly and the food is fresh and tasty i would recommend the seasoned coated potatoes they are great.

I live by Dorchester and always went to Melrose as was convenient but they have never been fantastic. Took the chance and went up the road to this place few months back and have been going back here ever since! Food is fresh and delicious

I would of given them 5 stars they are always very fresh and compared to the one that used to be here and even the one down the road at Melrose It really is night and day. I got bored of the leftovers at Melrose and some times the chips and potatoes were actually cold, they got lazy and really Melrose should just shut up shop or just open on a Friday night when at least the chips were hot and fresh. But after this shop having most of the old customers from Melrose, and I would guess surrounding area they should of left the prices alone. If you have more customers than ever before than don't get greddy, or you could end up like that daylight robbery one there was or maybe still is at Shenley, where the smart people now avoid it like the plague, and the others go there because they shop in M&S and believe in there minds expensive equals the best.

Wouldn't go anywhere else for fish and chips. The staff are lovely as well. Best in town in my opinion.

We stopped using the old shop because if you came early you got lunchtimes leftover chips, Now that New management have taken over the food is the best I've had there and I've been using it since the 60s. Staff always friendly too.

This is predominately a fish and chip shop but other items are available such as burgers etc from a quite varied menu. The fish and chips are good but there are other places in MK where I have had better. The prices however are very good indeed compared to other places. It is well worth a visit.

Nothing wrong with the food. But it worries me to see people serving food wearing outdoor coats with just an apron over the top.

Probably the best transformed local business in years, gone from an every day chip shop to an amazing chip shop! Freshly cooked food, not just chips - a wide choice including great chicken kebabs, variety of burgers and jackets too! Amazing service, staff always there with a smile and its always busy which speaks volumes about the "plaice".
