Been here for lunch today for the first time, lovely food and our server, Julie was lovely. Very attentive but not overbearing. Lovely lady. Would love to go back in the summer and sit in their gardens.

Brilliant meal, excellent menu, top quality food, excellent service, great staff, lovely atmosphere and setting. What a brilliant restaurant, highly recommend ten stars if I could. Thanks Black Horse.

We had a fantastic experience at the Black Horse last night! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. Emma, our waitress, went above and beyond to ensure our visit was perfect. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, she made us feel like a priority, always attentive and quick to anticipate our needs with a smile. Her friendly, professional demeanor added so much to our dining experience—she truly is a gem and a huge asset to the Black Horse team. We can’t wait to return for both the wonderful food and the outstanding service!

The pub feels old and damp and smells a little. The food was very average, I'd cook better at home. Regular cola is £3.90 and 30% of that was ice. A few slices of bread £6.95.

Fantastic family outing. Had lunch with two small kids and grandparents. Food isn't the cheapest unlike chain pubs but it is so very delicious and high quality , the service and atmosphere were top notch.

Beautiful food. I had belly pork and it was cooked beautifully with plenty of veggies. Our server was Kim. She was very friendly and efficient she was also very attentive and careful regarding my food intolerance, I am gluten free.

Staff great. The food for everyone else seemed to enjoy it. My Plant based Burger was dry, didn’t taste very nice either. Very disappointing as this Was my favourite go to restaurant for Vegetarian menu.

Great location and venue and friendly staff. Service is also good. However they do not serve at the bar, even if you just want to sit outside and have a drink. The pub is table service only including outdoors. This is a bit off putting if you visit in a largish group and you all wish to pay separately. Although to be fair they did accommodate this for us so thanks for this.

We had Kim and Mantas and they were so lovely. He was new and he was so good and attentive. And she was so friendly and welcoming! The food was also 10/10! I will defo be back

We were looking for somewhere to take out-of-town friends for a nice lunch, and this was perfect. The grounds and gardens are lovely, as is the pub itself. Friendly staff, good selection of beers & wine, great food - what more could you ask for?!

Atmosphere was amazing, food was delicious as usual. Kim was our server, who was exceptional. Full of laughter & entertainment. Mantas was also there to serve and he was happy & delightful.

Visited with some friends for dinner on a Tuesday, we had a lovely dinner. Our servers, Kim and Mantas were amazing, they took great care of us and made it an amazing night

Came as a group of 7 for my partners birthday and can’t complain about anything. Food came out fast and was really good. Service was attentive, friendly and would come again just for that. Kim and Mantas were both great and made our night!

I have never been served by a more attentive person. I am a celiac and other allergies and Julie could not have been more helpful. I have never been made to feel more welcome and not feel like I’m a nuisance on going out for a meal. Credit to the kitchen my meals was sublime. I would thoroughly recommend eating here and once again Julie thank you for your excellent service and hospitality. First rate.

We sat on the terrace which was lovely. Relaxed atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food. Harry, who served us was fantastic.

Stopped for drinks as had a lovely large beer garden with lots of different areas, ended up having food as smelt lovely, was a very good homemade chicken burger and side of onion rings, also staff very friendly and welcoming. would call back if in the area

Visited for outdoor drinks on sunny afternoon. Outdoor bar staff were friendly with excellent service, even fetching a bowl of water for our dog, making big fuss of him and overall lovely visit in August 24.

Great experience for my grandpa's 89th birthday. The food was delicious, and the waitress, Sandy, was so friendly and made the celebration particularly fun. Just go!

Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic, everything we ordered was very tasty and was hot when served. Has a lovely atmosphere you are not rushed in anyway.

We stopped by just for a quick cider and the food looked so good we decided to have Sunday lunch here. We were not disappointed. The Chateaubriand roast was amazing, and the roast potatoes probably some of the best I have ever tasted. The service was efficient and friendly, thank you Julie! Highly recommend this pub, and what a fab location right on the canal!

Went for lunch yesterday with family and friends… although the pub could do with a spruce up (looking a bit tired and jaded in places) the food was absolutely delicious. Aubergine Lasagne was a big hit with 2 of my guests while my husband had fish n chips which he said had been cooked to perfection! Myself I had a salad with an added extra of goats cheese and while it’s hard to wax lyrical about salad I’m going to as it was amazing ( no idea what the dressing was but it was delicious) and would go again just for that 😊

We had lunch at The Black Horse today and it was really delicious. Our table was served by Julie who greeted us and looked after us. Julie did an exceptional job and I can quite honestly say that it was the best table service I have ever experienced. The food was superb and add on the brilliant service, it made for a wonderful lunch experience. Thank you, you made two old people very happy.

Lovely place and decent food. Great desserts, the apple tart is a big standout. A big thanks to the lovely Julie who provided us with outstanding, friendly service.

Appalling customer service. Manager is very rude. Staff aren’t fully trained on the menu deals resulting in massive overcharges and a surprisingly high bill. Would not recommend, better off going somewhere else for average food.

The food was plain and tasteless. Additionally, the employees do not know how to take orders or answer questions, resulting in misunderstandings. Furthermore, the manager was extremely rude; she placed her finger in a child’s face and raised her voice after being confronted about the bill and the customer service provided. While trying to protect her employee, she claimed that she would never do that, even though she was not present. This place is stealing money. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. It was the worst experience ever. The worst part is that it was my birthday, and they made it the worst birthday ever. 🤬😡

We only popped in for a refreshing drink during a walk along the canal, but found the Black Horse friendly and welcoming. It's table service only, even if you're just having a lemonade. Dogs allowed in the beer garden. The food being served looked great.

30/7/24: Once again visited The Black Horse for a meal with my husband today. Every visit we ask to "tweak" the menu to suit our tastes (husband Diabetic) and the Chef always kindly accommodates us! (Ie husband requested brown bread instead of white Soda bread with his crab starter. For his main he didn't want chips with his fish, so was offered lovely hot greens medley (baby broccoli, green beans etc) and I had a lovely salad but wanted to swap gots cheese for halloumi. All was accepted by the chef. Thank you!!!! As always, the food was exceptional and the service brilliant! We only had room for 2 starters and 2 mains (sadly, pudding could not be squashed in our stomachs! 🤣). But 4 completely clean plates went back to the kitchen. OMG, brilliant!!!! Previous feedback: 23/05/24 Met friends for lunch. I now walk with a stick so my visit today was definitely not as much fun as previous visits. No marked disabled bays in the car park, so straight away had a longer walk than I'd have liked. Then, 2 sets of steps to navigate, one with no handrails at all, the other with very wobbly rails. In-between, very uneven crazy paving flags. Tripped on two occasions between carpark and pub. All in all, no longer a place for me now I have mobility issues and they have little to make life easier for those with such issues. 😞 Previous feedback: Having signed up to the Black Horse App ages ago, I was treated with a voucher for my birthday for a free 3 course meal if someone else with me who paid for the equivalent 3 courses. My husband and I visited last night and had an amazing evening. Our food was served promptly (no long waits) but helpful, cheerful and friendly staff. The food was beautifully presented and outstanding quality. It is the first time I ever remember returning 6 plates (3 each) to the kitchen, completely wiped clean of every morsel!. My husband had a beautiful soup, I had pâté. He then went for Grilled Seabass and I had a Wonderful Steak pie and trimmings. Husband had Blackberry and apple crumble with custard. I had the best sticky toffee pudding ever, with honeycomb ice-cream. Delicious. Compliments to the chef and all the serving team. Can't recommend the pub enough! It's not cheap, but not expensive either. Wonderful food, great service. Lovely birthday treat.

The Black Horse has very nice food and amazing service. Located by the canal the outside seating has a nice open feeling and is a very relaxing place to sit for a quick bite to eat and a drink while boating. Our waitress Julie was very nice and made the meal a very pleasent experience. She was very helpful and smiley. Overall I would highly reccomend the Black Horse as a pub to visit if you are in the area especially if you are passing by on a boat.

Came for lunch on New Year’s Eve. Emma looked after us well. Usual cosy atmosphere and great food. Seabass was excellent.

Nice ambience, good food. I mentioned in the reservation that it was our anniversary and asked for a nice table. They did give us a corner table, very nice, and when desert arrived they had written "Happy Anniversary" with chocolate. Nice touch. Thank you!!

The Black Horse is now our favourite place to eat with my beautiful father when I visit. We had the most delicious roast dinner on Father’s Day and we just experienced another fabulous meal. Julie was EXCEPTIONAL and made us feel so welcome. Julie gave super advice and was attentive and friendly and made the whole experience super special. Highly recommend. This place has remained outstanding throughout the years. Its had revamp since I last time I was there and the place still has a welcoming atmosphere which is accompanied by the amazing staff.👏 👏 Really liked the menu, I had a couple of starters and fish & chips for mains. Excellent quality and presentation. Great place to catch up with friends or bring the family. Also it has excellent viewings which can be enjoyed from inside. Will be planning another to visit soon.

We stopped at the Black Horse whilst on our canal boat as it's right next to the canal. The atmosphere and decor was really fantastic! We were served by Julie and she was lovely - great recommendations, made sure we were happy and that we were furnished with drinks. We had the cheese truffle doughnuts for start - oh my gosh, Incredible! Wish we hadn't shared! I had the chicken burger, it was massive and everything inside tasted brilliant. (You can usually judge a restaurant on the quality of the burger!). Husband had the cod and chips - a really decent size piece of fish and chips were delicious. We shared onion rings - again couldn't fault them! The hardest decision of the day was pudding. As a chocoholic there were so many choices, I ended up with the Brownie and having eaten 3 other brownies at canal side pubs that week I can safely say this was the best! And the portion wasn't skimpy either! Husband had the creme brulé - it was actually white chocolate which wasn't obvious on the menu but Julie was helpful in the decision making here. It was a really subtle white chocolate, and not too sweet which was great. All in all really enjoyed the food and service was spot on! If we are ever back in the area we will return!

The Black Horse in Great Linford provided a charming backdrop for a recent family lunch. The atmosphere was just what you'd hope for in a country pub – warm and inviting, with a touch of rustic chic. We were all impressed with the food. Everything was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. I particularly enjoyed the carvery. However, it's worth noting that the portion sizes were on the smaller side. Thankfully, we left room for dessert, and I'm so glad we did! The chocolate brownie was an absolute dream – rich, decadent, and served with a generous scoop of ice cream. It was the perfect ending to a lovely meal. Overall, The Black Horse is a great choice for a family outing. The food is delicious, the setting is delightful, and the service is friendly. Just be sure to pace yourself so you have space for one of their dessert choices.

What a delightful experience ~ we went out for a spontaneous late lunch today & opted to come to The Black Horse. It was an excellent choice, which was demonstrated by our cleared plates. I had the Roku Gin & Sweet Chilli Salmon, which was heartily recommended by our waitress & I was not disappointed. It was beautifully cooked & the tastes were tantalisingly delicious in every aspect. My husband had the Beef & Melbec Pie, which was obviously a handmade pie rather than a mass-produced offering. Jackie & Beke were both attentive but unintrusive, making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our visit.

Layton was exceptional, we were celebrating a family members 60th wedding anniversary and we were allowed to come a little early to put out some table decorations which was great, when we arrived we were treated so well, service was swift & attentive and Layton was so friendly and helpful the whole time Food was delish & everyone loved their meal, everything was hot & came out in a timely manner which was great considering there was 10 of us Can’t thank Layton & the team enough for making this evening special for us

We sat in the bar area due to having a dog with us, and 2 tables were kindly placed together due to there being 6 of us. Square tables would have worked better being able to join up and sit more comfortably as tables were small and sat 3 to each table with the seating being fixed booth area seat and 2 chairs so a little awkward, that said the building and atmosphere were both lovely. The food was amazing all of us had 3 courses, and all were outstanding. Staff were also amazing. Portion size was generally good other than the amount of bread provided for the camembert scared starter not having enough bread, the wait for the extra bread though appreciate was fresh took an amount of time which meant the cheese was then cold. The trio of desserts was amazing though the size of the sicilian lemon tart was small as a single dish and not served with a cream option the same dish cut into half was served as part of the trio. The half rotisserie chicken 2 small chicken portion was tasty but literally came with fries and nothing else, and I feel there should have been at least peas and or onion rings or salad with the price that is paid. These things aside, we all really enjoyed our meal and will be returning later in the year when the family revisits. We purchased 3 lagers and the rest soft drinks with our meal at a cost of around £295

Leyton was an excellent server and nothing was too much trouble.

We were out for our grandparent anniversary dinner. Food and service were fab. Leyton was so helpful and attentive and really made the evening.
