The Nut and Squirrel in Milton Keynes

The food took well over 1 hour from JustEat and was lukewarm when it arrived. The app still was saying that our food was being prepared when the delivery driver was at our house. There were several items missing, hardly any green vegetables and the roast potatoes and chicken were clearly just out of the freezer. Not impressed at all and certainly not worth the money.

Pretty standard chain pub. Just stopped in for a quick pint before heading home but it was pleasant enough. Loads of seating, massive free car park, and not overpriced.

I’ve come here a few times in the past however it hasn’t been very great i can see that it is getting better with Roreke and new team members so welldone to you all !!

I am a regular visitor to the Nut & Squirrel. I would like to see the regular ales such as Landlord, Ghost Ship, Proper Job and Tribute available more regularly instead of them running out and being forced to purchase something I am not as keen on the taste of. The kitchen is also out of service a lot at the moment and we eat here quite regularly.

A while since we tried the food so thought we would give it a go. Two really nice meals followed by a dessert for myself and a coffee made personally by Daniel. Food was delicious and service could not be faulted. Will definately be returning soon.

Most welcoming even to my two little dogs who were treated as part of the family. Food was great. Alex and Liam are brilliant and made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble and always with a smile.

Pop in occasionally for a few drinks staff all very friendly and Davey is always very welcoming ,polite and helpful pub had a nice atmosphere

Excellent service. Most welcoming on arrival, we took our two little dogs and they were even treated as part of the family to the point where they even bought a bowl of water to our table for the dogs. Food was great. My 15 month old Grandson had a little miss-hap which was quickly dealt with by the staff and nothing was to much trouble. Very pleased all round with the food, the way we were treated for the whole evening, nothing was too much trouble and a big shout out to Alex and Liam who made my whole family and my two little dogs feel so welcome. If you have dogs this is the most dog friendly place I have ever been too and I always take my dogs with me where ever I go.

First 2 things my wife chose at 12.30pm on Saturday lunchtime they didn't have which wasn't a great start, but once we found stuff they had the food came out quickly. Onion rings were overcooked but otherwise the food was tasty and fairly good value. Guy behind the bar (Daniel?) Was helpful and nice. Would probably go back again to give them another chance!

We had a meal for 10 of us on New Year's Day. The pub asked that we gave our choices in advance so they could be prepared and all the food was lovely. It came out promptly and was beautifully cooked. We would thoroughly recommend this place.

Wide choice of meals at reasonable prices. Food was hot and tasted good. Service was fine in pleasant surroundings. Ghost Ship was excellent.

Just had a family meal in the Nut and squirrel and was lovely. Fish and chips were bang on and my partner loved her steak, daughter liked her pasta as well. Staff were lovely and attentive, especially the Scottish guy forgot to get his name. Thanks will be back again.

Excellent food and service. Friendly, helpful staff. Everything on the menu was available which was surprising as we went just after Christmas. We don't go there regularly and found everything much improved. The mixed grill was brilliant.

We had our wedding reception at tn&s, perfect. Been frequenting this pub way back from the mid eightys. Had one bad meal up until about a year ago, then had 3 bad meals in a row!,long waits, rump steak so grisly not edible,unavailable items on the menu. What really gets my goat 🐐, the lack of old Rosie cider (other ciders are available) And every time we pop in, different staff are behind the bar??. Though with all due respect, Alex has promised a discount on our next restaurant bill, but, never seem to see him. Hay ho, we'll maybe book a table sometime in the new year???.

Easily the best value for money for Christmas Day Dinner. The staff was really excellent and we got are food really quick

I booked my usually pretty well behaved children (when out in public) and myself a Christmas meal and they were testing to say the least. However everyone at the nut and squirrel made the visit bearable. The food was amazing, the staff were really accommodating. The whole visit was lovely. They even made sure I had some food packaged up so I can eat in peace when my children are asleep. Hero’s! Haha. Nothing was too much hassle for them and I’m glad we visited. I’ll definitely make sure to visit more often. A special mention to Alex and the staff member with a daughter called Lauren (best name ever), thankyou guys and a happy Christmas! The nut and squirrel is definitely somewhere I’d recommend people visit.

Nice to have a cheaper pub in the area but that is reflected in the quality of everything

On arrival we ordered drinks to be told there were no wine glasses and had to use my friends finished one, taken to our table which was laid out lovely for then all our wine glasses laid out on the table were removed and we couldn’t use them either. We got our starters and then waited a good while for our mains which when arrived three of our party asked for medium rare and got well done was brought to the attention of staff but nothing said or offered to cook replacement for them so one meal was totally untouched,and other two steaks not enjoyed. Between courses with such a long wait we went outside for air to come back to my seat and where a disgusting kitchen tea towel was left in my dinning place, I took this to the managers attention and he was not at all helpful just sorry must have been dropped! Which this then put use all off as we saw how dirty the towel was. After the disappointment I got a free coffee which after all 8 of us spent was nothing to compensate the time wait and food not cooked to order and also the dirty tea towel incident! When paying the bill the manager asked if I was going to being emailing a complaint and that he dealt with the trip advisor response which I thought was more of a threat to how he would respond! I don’t think any of us would attend again

We visited The Nut and Squirrel two weeks ago and had an awful meal! We complained and the manager Mark apologised informing us that the problem was due to his kitchen staff letting him down and failing to show up! He acknowledged that it was his problem not ours and invited us back to allow him to try again! Wow what a transformation our meals were served promptly and without exception were delicious by attentive staff who were not intrusive~ Danyl deserves special mention! Two weeks ago you would not have got me near the place again but everyone deserves a second chance and Mark and his team certainly took it. Would we visit again? Too right we would!

Been a few times since lockdown eased and have to say it wasnt good. Decided to give it another go this week and it was noticeable it had changed. Good beer, good food, friendly service and on chatting to the manager he told us quite a few staff had been changed and the pub had upped it game. Well done Nut and Squirrel, will visit again soon.

I went to the Nut and Squirrel on the 5th November 2023. I ordered the Seabass Fillets which was supposed to be served with new potatoes and asparagus. What I was served instead was very small Seabass Fillets, a dollup of mashed potatoes and peas. The most nutritious item on the plate were the peas and they were cold. The waitress although pleasant did not know anything about the dish and offered to get the manager but what was the point! At no time was there any attempt by the kitchen staff to discuss any issues concerning my choice prior to serving. My partner ordered southern fried chicken burger with chips He said his chicken was tough and I observed that he seemed to have very few chips Our mistake was ordering from the usual menu instead ot sticking to the usual Sunday fare. We had been informed that there was an hour wait for food which I didn't mind. The atmosphere was pleasant in the pub.

We’d visited the shops in Milton Keynes and needed some refreshment once we’d finished. We’d visited the Nut & Squirrel last year and wanted to see how things had changed, as pubs are want to do. It was warm and welcoming - I didn’t catch the manager’s name but he was everything we’d want; welcoming with a smile and some banter. We sat with our beers and decided on food. We both settled on steak - a ribeye for my wife and surf and turf for me. The food came in a reasonable time frame for two steak meals and the steaks were cooked to perfection. Well done, chef! The breaded prawns and onion rings were slightly overdone but not enough to stop us eating them. We’ll definitely be back.

I’d 100% recommend it for a quick cheap and easy meal. Couldn’t fault the meal or stuff.

The Nut and Squirell is located in Milton Keynes, right next to the shopping centre. The car park is for free. Only visited for quick lunch. The curry and starter were tasting very good, curry on the spicy side, but not burning experience. My colleague had a selection from quick lunch bites and described the meat as chewing gum. Food took a while to be brought to the table. However, the staff was very nice. Good selection of draught beers with decent prices overall. Nice seating covered area outside for warmer days and nights. I might pop in in the future again.

Was first time there and was nicely surprised. A very nice relaxed atmosphere, music not loud, just in the background. Nathan and Jo were excellent and very helpful, Aaron and Liam who cooked the meal were also excellent and the gentleman behind the bar, don't know his name was very pleasant and helpful. Thank you all in The Nut and Squirrel, we will definately be recommending you to family and friends.

We held a wake for my Mum at The Nut & Squirrel. Mark and the team handled it very sensitively and made the space reserved for us feel special with the addition of some flowers and candles. The buffet food was great and everything ran very smoothly, which is just what we needed after such a difficult morning. Thank you to Mark and the team 😊

Went for a birthday lunch with the family, who had driven down for the day. We ordered from the main menu and was advised it might be a bit slow due to issues, it wasn't that busy, so no problem in finding a table and wasn't in any hurry Everything we ordered was available and when the food arrived it was really nice, the staff were attentive and kept apologizing for the delay in the service. Can see that if you were in a hurry it might have been a problem, but for us that wasn't a problem, it gave us time to sit and relax and catch up.

This is best RACIST pub in Milton Keynes. If you are an Asian or Black, there is a different timings for you for the dinner. If the last order is at 9 PM, you have to give the last order before 8:30. If you are ‘white’, the rule changes for you and the last order can be at 9 PM. So 2 families, kid 1 year old, 8 year old and 14 year old goes hungry from this pub!! Asians and Blacks, avoid this pub!!!

Food was first-rate staff all freindly and clean place to eat.

We got served our mains an hour later after we got to the restaurant, we went in early before the it gets busy as most people like to visit the pub for a traditional Sunday roast but we were served our main after other customers who came after us, kids were not happy see other tables getting their food before us, I choose this local pub based on google reviews but received an overall bad experience, definitely not going back.

Friendly helpful staff. It was great of Mark to ask other diners in the restaurant if they minded our dog being there. It improved the evening, being quieter for us than near the bar and fruit machine.

We were regularly served by our favourite front of house Alex, he always remembers our order and the rump steak served was exceptionally delicious, not only did it look good, but the rump steak was not rubbery, a good balance between tenderness and juicy, the extra black peper added extra texture to the steak, overall a massive upgrade to what I had before.

Nice enough new estate pub. We didn't eat so that's why not 5 stars but some reasonable outside seating area.

My family and I have been coming to this pub for many years. But I won’t be visiting again in a hurry! This place has gone down hill massively since new management and team took over. Over the years I’ve seen managers come and go and different atmospheres in it, but with out a shadow of a doubt this pub was at its best when it was managers by Tom and his wife. They bought in the best team of staff, friendly, smiley, such a fun nice place to be and for me to bring my family at anytime for for food or drinks. Service was amazing and the food I can’t fault at all.amazing! They really went above and beyond with this place. They didn’t tolarate rubbish either and for me this is the way a pub should be. but now the manager here is rude! Disrespectful! The staff are just staff and not a little family. The food has massively gone downhill and the clientlel they allow to be in this pub is disgusting. drunks with bad attitudes and coke heads! Corruption at the top is so disappointing!

We booked a table here because it was close to where we were visiting and cheap for our grandchildren to eat there. I was very surprised at how good the food was and really good value. The service was great also. I would definitely recommend it.

Had a lovely impromptu late afternoon meal. Welcomed from the very start by Alex, with a good sense of humour, who was attentive but not intrusive. Food was excellent, piping hot and cooked to order. Would definitely come back.

Nice pub at the edge of a shopping centre. It is an Ember in so food is pretty standard. However, when we visited they had a couple of nice beers in as guest ales. Service was friendly and efficient. Being a Wednesday lunchtime it was not very busy and while I wouldn't rush back I'd be happy to stop there again for a beer and something to eat

We as iv said before pretty much eat at this pub everyday, I'm not saying they get it right every time but they have a bloody good go, and if its not to normal standards they will try again. What we witnessed last night, not the pub but a group eating was absolutely appalling and if it was my pub they would never be allowed in again, they had their mains and ate them, then proceeded to go to the bar to say how bad the food was !! Work that one out, they were bad but you ate them, they were refusing to pay the bill at all, to be fair the staff said fine if that's what u feel we will knock the food off the bill but u still owe for two bottles of wine. They didn't want to pay for that either but as they had drank it they weren't really left with a choice. Anyway they left but before leaving proceeded to empty a bottle of mayonnaise on the seats ! Absolutely scum and you should be ashamed of yourselves, absolutely disgusting. Mark and team you can't be 100 percent all the time because no one is perfect but you guys have a pretty good go, I am absolutely disgusted with what I saw last night and the only out I could give them is maybe they can't handle their drink . Keep up the good work, your good reviews way out your bad, and us and many other customers last night were left opened mouthed with their actions .

So, we went here for lunch . The food was poor service was even worse we sat in seats with table numbers so presume you can have food there ! Waited a while, then just before they brought out food, they told us no brown bread, so we said white ok . They brought out our food, and one was on ciabbata, said didn't ask for that. Waitress was like, "That's what you ordered I said no one was on brown, and one on white, she stomped off. Now we had sat for a while and no condiments or cutlery had been brought over so I went to another table an picked up box sat down next another server came over and grabbed it back I asked if we could just use condiments before they took it back she said no someone is bringing you some we could see a guy sorting this out but then he started a conversation with the other server. We had food on the table. I called over and asked if we could have stuff the look the guy drew me was daggers. Very local clicky pub avoid

We booked Sunday lunch which was delicious. We were served our meal by a pleasant young man called Dan. He checked if we were happy with our food and was on hand if we needed anything.

Visit this pub fairly regularly and see it steadily decline. Used to be the place for a good choice of beers and reasonably priced substantial food. Now only two unknown beers, no table service for orders, menu items unavailable and no portable card terminal. Another venue pressing 'order and pay on out app' which is uninspiring for many customers.

I have been using the Nut for many years now and can honestly say that Mark and his entire team deserve great credit for making this pub great to visit again. I recommend use of the Ember app which has a loyalty card that gives useful discounts and freebies on future visits. Short review as I am off there for a pint....

What can I say about The Nut and Squirrel, went there for lunch today with my mum and dad since we hadn't been for a while and was greeted by the most friendly manager, Dan. As usual Dan went out of his way to accommodate us. Service was 10/10. Food exceptional and in general everything was just lovely. Will definitely be going back there again. Thank you Dan for your friendly attitude and for accommodating us. Big shout out to the chef for the delicious food. Well done guys. Thank you.

The burger was beautiful. However, the burnt sweet potatoe was a letdown. I did get a fresh bowl of chips, which I thought was very good of them to do. I will definitely go back there again.

Alex regular provide us with excellent service and remind us the best deal in the resturant. We had the sirloin steak. Our drinks and food came quite promptly and we had a wonderful time eating at the restaurant.

Stop in for lunch with my wife, her order came with sweet potato chips, unfortunately the chips were overcooked which was immediately spotted by one of the staff (we believe her name was Mari) who quickly offered to replace it with a new bowl of chips for my wife. (Great service)

So chuffed with our sneaky visit here this weekend. Didn't expect great things, was just going for the garden. The food was top level pub food, really really enjoyed the beer battered mushrooms, different from the normal wet ones you get everywhere else. Will definitely be back and will recommend now :)

Just popped in for a quick lunch in the sun and was pleasantly surprised. The food was nice and fresh. The beer selection was great and the staff were friendly and efficient. Special note to Daniel our waiter he was superb.
