Needed a convenient place for food after visiting Dad in nearby nursing home and found the Victory. Friendly and welcoming with a great menu reasonably priced food freshly cooked to order. We all enjoyed our meals and felt very satisfied afterwords. We are happy to recommend.

This resturant is perfect after a long day if you don't want to bother getting dressed up for a meal. It's menu has little variety but I had the bacon and cheese burger which was nice and the pizza my colleague had looked lovely. Dessert also lacked options but again was great. Nice laid back atmosphere

The reviews on this pub are out of date now and irrelevant. The pub has undergone a proper refurbishment and is better in every way. I've just had a superb quality burger washed down with a fine pint of Wainwright bitter. The pub is a world away from it's previous guises.

We went for lunch today arriving at 12, the place was very quiet. When my food arrived it looked like it had been sitting for a while. The mashed potato had developed a crust and some of the steak pie I just couldn't cut. My husband opted for fish and chips, tasteless fish and more like the size of a sardine than the jumbo fillet stated on the menu. We won't be returning!

Went for meal in the victory pub which was very quiet. Waited 30mins for food and then only mine arrived, my wifes was to follow. Not minutes later but 15mins later when my meal was finished. On later discussion with a manager via email, we were told my wifes meal was dropped, fair enough mistakes happen- honesty was needed. We didnt go out to dine seperatly. Mistakes happen but it is the customer service that got me and the lack of botherance about losing a customer. I wont be returning as we dont feel valued and our meal was ruined

This is situated within the Village Urban Hotel where we were staying and having eaten at the other establishment the previous night and not wanting to go out in the car we ate here. First and foremost it is a pub; the crowd are young(ish) 30 somethings. We ate on a Friday night and there was loud music playing so we ate and drank and left pretty quick. The menu is moslty burgers and ribs etc and it was OK but not Gordon Ramsey; the service was good and the staff friendly. I could eat there again.

The victory pub set in the village hotel serves food from a set menu mainly burgers , even though a small selection the quality is good but would be nice if there was a specials board. Although they do do themed nights like the man v burger challenge on a Friday but that is really only for very hungry people with a large appetite. There is a Starbucks set in the hotel and a bistro of which I shall try another time if stuck for somewhere to go, but wouldn't go out of my way to go. All in all decent fayre if limited selections. Me and the misses had a classic burger whilst me daughter had the club sandwich which all three were served on wooden boards/plates.

The Victory is the branded public house in the Village Hotels chain. Serving mostly burgers and hot dogs they do have some impressive specials, giving chefs in the building a chance to shine. The burgers are good quality in a variety of buns, ciabatta, sour dough, twice fried chips and even fresh tomato relish. On various nights they do food specials and the Friday night is Man vs Food, the burger is a huge triple stack, chilli, bacon, cheese, relish, coleslaw, a small burger to top out and a portion of fries. However this is not a set standard across the brand (as it should be). On trying the challenge, eat everything in 15 minutes, get your money back and a t-shirt if you do; a plate of food that was completely overboard and way past the specification was put in front of me. On questioning this the barman said they'd put more on it as somebody had done the challenge. However if you'd visited any other Victory pub that night you would have been met with the true specification burger (their facebook page My Village Life even published the photos to prove this), so not the most honest people running the show, also be prepared to sand the relish off your fingers when done; its not the lovely fresh tomato relish on other burgers, its a concoction of what tasted like mayo, mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce and glue. So as a food challenge, it left me full, sticky and angry, all I would say is if you are going to challenge the customers, play the game, all we ask for is for a fair chance. So on the food side go main menu, its good enough, the specials menu sounds good; but the nightly offers leave a lot to be desired. As for price, its expensive, look at £10 to £16 for a basic meal, if you go for sides it will push your food bill to closer to £20 a head, the average drink is £4 plus, but its to be expected from a bar in a hotel, captive audience and all. The atmosphere and décor is straight out of the fake brickwork and wood floor handbook. Standard TV entertainment, the big sports events, booth tables and a small bar to get served at. Would i go back... only if they played fair on their burger challenge. If I had got to the hotel and I was tired and couldn't be bothered, I'd have a drink, maybe if I was hungry I would eat something. But for a sensible option on your pocket, there are plenty of places a cheap taxi ride away, to go for a meal and drinks; with better food, better atmosphere and you'd still be better off after the taxi back to the hotel. There is even a couple of pub restaurants within 5 minutes walk, both beating price, service and quality hands down.

We ordered on the app as it was really busy; 20 minutes later and no drinks served, food arrived with the drinks, but we were one scrambled eggs on toast short; we got a second scrambled eggs on toast after about a 5 min wait. Food was stone cold and the eggs had a crust so must have been sat on the side for a while. They'd run out of cutlery so we got steak knives! The empty tables are loaded with dirty glasses and plates; outside pigeons and seagulls are feasting on the plates with leftover food. All round just a bit poor. I know the food is cheap but there's no excuse for poor service and cold food.

Highly recommend walking the extra 3 minutes to a different chain as the staff here are rude, incompetent and generally bad at their jobs.

Hi, I came in for a quick bite and was served by Emma. She was very efficient and friendly and I highly recommend her.
