The Quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne

Normally have a great time here but was visiting during magic weekend, had to wait a while for food to later be told "you'll have to go downstairs because there's been a glitch on the app" in a very abrupt tone, coffee machine wasn't working just need topping up but the manager instead of apologising to the massive queue of people very loudly "you'll have to wait i only have 1 pair of hands" i totally get it's busy and they're stressed (I work in hospital so I really do get it) but especially during magic weekend, Newcastle have hosted this before so the quayside should be prepared to be rammed and have better customer service!

Really nice place, close to River, Excellent customer Service, and or course Wetherspoon always fair prices.

Arrived for breakfast today. Cleared the table ourselves and took the server a good while to collect the dirty dishes from our table. Breakfast took a good while to come, when it did , there was no toast available with it and it was stone cold, with the exception of the sausages being luke warm, eggs were cold, hard and rubbery. All the sauce condiments were empty. Went to the bathroom where it was very dirty, litter everywhere and no toilet paper available, luckily I had tissues on me. Not our best experience after really enjoyable breakfasts previously in other wetherspoons establishments

A fairly nice Wetherspoons located on the Quayside, all of the staff are friendly and helpful.

Great pub, fantastic location, Good staff,great prices, A pint of good beer here, is half the price, of a pint of lousy warm beer in the rip off places around here,hammering the tourists. Recommended. I only use spoons in Newcastle, £5-6 a pint in the others. And edit As of 28-29 April 2025, The app service has taken a nose dive, Warm beer, about 15-20 minutes for your order to arrive, However on the upper hand, Still cheapest.

Eaten here for 2 days and whilst food good had to be returned as it was just luke warm.

Food was very delayed. Took 30 minutes to arrive. Table next to us ordered and got theirs before us. Food was luke warm. Bar is good. Wine reasonable and bar staff helpful. Waiters OK.

Great location by the Tyne a short distance from the Tyne Bridge on the Quayside. Today I only went in for breakfast. I had the large full English, great value & well cooked, 5 stars but spoilt because it was cold. Simply pre-heating the plate before plating would have solved this I'm sure.

A very nice and very popular pub. Olde worlde merges very tastefully with modern chic. Some great views of the quayside if you opt to sit outside. Staff are very attentive and friendly and the food is good and wholesome. Would we go back? In a heartbeat!!

This is a very unfriendly and intimidating place. I was expecting the food to be basic but it was also cold. When I said something the attitude was well if you don’t like it you can go elsewhere. Quite probably the worst experience ever when ordering food. Never again.

Stood at the bar for ages 6 staff watching us didnt bother even asking if we wanted serving had 2 ask them 2 serve us for the girl to serve us to be fuming with us because we had to ask to be served yeah theres an app but not every1 wants 2 use apps i work in customer service and this place clearly doesnt care much for it it was a Tuesday so not even busy got some chips they were ok, the place is also quite filthy sorry but wont return sorry no pics didnt stay long enough.

After checking the website for dog friendly, we arranged to meet 18 family members this afternoon after travelling 3 hour to do this to be told by a very rude manager to get out it's not dog friendly and I've told you once already not signs except on the front web saying dog friendly totally disgusting as owning our own business with hospitality is utmost important don't go cheap and not cheerful walk further along the quay side so much better and not much more

Poor service. Get told no dogs, website status dog friendly...out dated no dogs allowed..keep away staff not polite. All other bars pud's allow dogs go there instead... boycott spoons until they get the message... people have dogs and we love them like one of the family.

Waited 55 mins for drinks. When I enquired about these, I asked that a freebie could be added in when they finally arrived. And the lady at the bar was very rude to me and said "oh right shall I just pull those out of my arse then". Awful service.

Y ella era demasiado perezosa para poner una bolsa de basura en el cubo así que pon basura en un cubo y dijo que si alguien gime que puede hacer uno.

Went with friends and I appreciate it was a nice day and very busy, ordered on Ap at 15.06 at 15.35 went to see where drinks were as thought maybe irder was missed as seen others who'd arrived later getting drinks brought. I asked tje outside server about them and his response was 'your asking tje wrong person' to which I replied who shall I ask then? I was then told my.drinķs were next so I returned to table. I was told it was a 40 min wait. After 50 mins I went back and actually got the drinks myself. Attitude of staff was appalling and quite dismissive. I do appreciate it was very busy however I've been here wjen it was busier and never waited that long. Oh and my.friend ate a full meal she ordered from bar. My complaint is staff Attitude and lack of customer service or actually no customer service. Bad training or no training. If you don't like your job.do something else.

Food and service was good shame a coffee machine was out of order meaning large queues.

OK Spoons LOTS of outside tables

Visited for breakfast so it was sparsely occupied but service was excellent and friendly. If you like Wetherspoons' food then you won't be disappointed, it was hearty as expected. View from the upstairs seating across the Tyne was great but watch your head if you're over average height as the beams are low but lovely! As I say, service was spot on, prices are keen, coffee is unlimited and overall a terrific start to the day!

When the sun is out , sitting by the Tyne is idyllic. The value for money of spoons is,off the scale. A large NZ sav blanc for £5! 10 oz sirloin with salad , pepper sauce, bowl of hot wings for £20 , and £1.50 for another glass of the NZ wine ! Don't mind if I do Staggering value....

Had traditional breakfast Good vibes in pub and clean and tidy

Stopped here because it had plenty of outside seating for a larger group. Ordered through the app, but the staff were not at all helpful in identifying which table items were for, which caused us confusion and them to get stroppy. Food is as you would expect, cheap and alright. My full breakfast was pretty cold by the time it got to me. Thankfully it was gloriously sunny and the outside courtyard is a little sun trap, which was gorgeous and provided a good atmosphere.

Ordered a cocktail and asked for a straw just to be told "we don't have them up here" and then she walked off. Am I supposed to just leave my drink at the table unsupervised (I'm sitting solo) and go wander around looking for a straw that she should bring since it's literally her job

Definitely the best Wetherspoon I've ever been! Sitting outside by the river on a sunny day.. taking in the view of the magnificent High Level Bridge a stunning piece of engineering over a hundred years old.. with a well-chilled pint in hand is just somehow uplifting..

Eso fue hace ya un tiempo y está claro que hay que emprender una gran cantidad de trabajos de renovación para restaurar su antigua gloria. Sin embargo, nos alegró ver que, mientras estábamos allí, se mostraba a los constructores una lista de los trabajos que deben realizarse. Esperemos que la próxima vez que visitemos ese lugar se haya hecho ese trabajo. También espero que la próxima vez que visitemos tengan huevos para el desayuno. Otro hachís marrón no compensa los huevos. Seguramente alguien podría haber salido a un supermercado y comprado algo. Así que el desayuno era de calidad inferior.

Absolutely disgraceful attitude from the catering staff servers. Give me the wrong food I ordered then swapped food with another table. Took less than 2 minutes for them to exchange in kitchen?. This is not possible to prepare and cook these meals in 2mins. I had something to say about this. And then lady with red hair started arguing with me in on the outside of the pub when I was on my table. This is not right what a disgusting experience. Normally I wouldn’t have anything say wrong about weather spoons. Never but the behaviour and attitude of this member of was absolutely disgusting. Sorry Wetherspoons but this is the truth. And the worst experience I have ever had from any restaurateur pub food I have ever had. Mr Wilson

Came to Newcastle for work. Went to Quayside every evening and was looked after by Rob, he was such a hard working staff member who went above and beyond and is a credit to the company. He checked that we was happy with our food and cleared the tables and the menus to a high standard. One of the best Weatherspoons we have visited. Special thanks to Rob for making our experience fab!

One of the worst spoons I've ever been to!!!! Staff all looked miserable! And when I seen the manager it was clear why She looked most miserable of them all!!!! The layout of the pub is awful. Everyone is sat on top of everyone and the ladies toilets are in narnia!!!! Our breakfast items were awful Eggs on the mushroom benedict weren't poached, totally over cooked And the muffin was stone cold Extremely disappointing

Won't let me rate 0 sadly! Such stinking attitude! So myself with degenerate dessication and spinal stenosis, my partner just had complex hip surgery so both of us struggle to walk! Went to your rather dirty outside seating area with our cat in his stroller for our 17th anniversary...were we greeted kindly? 🤨 Nope you watched my bloke go inside to get drinks just gave me enough time to sit before coming over saying I can't bring a dog here! He wasn't a dog ( a cat asleep in a sealed stroller) asking me to leave not giving me a chance to say my partner is getting drinks, luckily my partner came out or he'd be wondering where we went! Outside area was filthy anyways with food all over the floor! You couldn't even let me sit for a minute till my legs stopped hurting 😱 and to be so rude to people that's disabled celebrating their 17th anniversary 😭😭😱😱 your awful awful people (one woman in particular) hope your anniversary gets ruined for you trying to ruin ours! Kindness doesn't cost a thing but meanness gets bad reviews remember that for future!!!!!!!

This has to be one of the best Wetherspoons in the UK. Despite being a large and busy establishment, food is served hot, tasty and in a timely manner. What makes the difference here is the superb staff. No matter how busy, they take the time to talk to customers, and for ourselves who do not live in the area, a warm and friendly welcome. Have to especially mention Taylor, James (Coops) and Rob. My wife and I visit the north east a couple of times a year and as we stay at the Travelodge next door we generally have out breakfast and evening meal here, and will look forward to returning later in the year. Lovely aspect right on the Tyne.

This has to be amongst the top Wetherspoons in the UK. The staff in particular make this a very welcoming and friendly pub to visit. In particular Taylor, Coops, and Rob who go above and beyond, definitely service with a smile. This is a busy pub but despite this the staff take time to make you feel welcome and chat to visitors like ourselves who are visiting the area. The food was good, hot, and served in a timely manner. Look forward to visiting again on our next visit the north east.

Venimos aquí cada vez que estamos en Newcastle, alojándonos en el lodge de viaje. Normalmente es un buen lugar para tomar unas copas. Esta noche no, muchas de las mesas no habían sido limpiadas así que no hay dónde sentarse. Los clientes tenían que limpiar las mesas ellos mismos. Tampoco era como si estuviera ocupado. Pasó casi una hora antes de que alguien empezara a despejar alguna de las mesas

Great place for summer drinks on the courtyard and cold drinks inside in January too! Meet here regularly for before and after beers for big gigs at the Arena too. Ask Rob about the best shots deal. Great guy, massive googles!

The pub was absolutely buzzing and both my mum and I felt incredibly comfortable given we aren't local to Newcastle! The staff were absolutely lovely and couldn’t be more accommodating, smiles everywhere! Both my mum and I had the pasta Alfredo and it was delicious! Very happy with our little evening out. Thank you! Can’t wait to come back!

Love this pub such a great place to start a night out in Newcastle. Decent food for a great price. Easy to order and well served. Just an all round good chill out pub.

Great pub just a few doors away from the Travelodge. Ordering via app at table is the easiest way. Staff are good and very attentive at delivering orders and clearing the tables. Even at busiest times order times were not long. Great location next to the water with outside seating.

A beautiful pub on the banks of the Tyne with beer garden to front and rear. Lovely inside on the colder days. Does get very busy in the good weather. Be great for friends ideal for dates cheap food and drink.

Lovely attractive wetherspoons, oldie worldie building with character. Reasonable drinks prices although I think the food menu needs updating.
