We ordered on the app as it was really busy; 20 minutes later and no drinks served, food arrived with the drinks, but we were one scrambled eggs on toast short; we got a second scrambled eggs on toast after about a 5 min wait. Food was stone cold and the eggs had a crust so must have been sat on the side for a while. They'd run out of cutlery so we got steak knives! The empty tables are loaded with dirty glasses and plates; outside pigeons and seagulls are feasting on the plates with leftover food. All round just a bit poor. I know the food is cheap but there's no excuse for poor service and cold food.

We’ve drank and ate in dozens of Wetherspoons pubs over the years, the quayside must be the most unhygienic and dirtiest of all. As we and friends were in Newcastle for 5 days, we planned to meet 6 other friends there on 01/10/24. We sat on Table 25 waiting for them to arrive, the table was sticky and unclean and there were 3 ants on it. On the window sill nearby was a bottle of ketchup. Table 26 was eventually cleared of used plates but the member of staff didn’t clean the table, as we’ve seen all other Wetherspoons staff done in other pubs. He left a bottle of mayonnaise on the table. 20 mins later our friends arrived and we all decided that we wouldn’t eat there and found another independent pub which we will support for the rest of our stay.

Yesterday was my second bad experience in The Quayside Bar this year. Quietly waiting my turn at the bar minding my own business when a male bar staff member came from further up the bar (out of sight) and conveyed to a door staff member he wasn't going to serve me, i turned round and a little female door woman was standing behind me and ushered me out, I'm still confused. 3 months ago 2 male door staff members shouted over a derogatory remark when i was sat at a table with 2 others, it was such unprofessional behaviour and ruined people's nights simply because they're in a position to exclude people from a bar without apprehension. It was one main doorman who did this - the other didn't seem to approve. Sadly this is now somewhere I advise against visiting.

Members of your staff at The Quayside in Newcastle demonstrated outstanding care when a friend unexpectedly took ill when in the pub. I did not get their names but it was a Male and Female Manager and a Female Door Person. The male manager noticed our friend looked unwell and intervened to see if he could help. The male and female manager and door woman then sat with him to make sure he was okay and called a 999 to get advice. The pub was really busy but the 3 staff members showed outstanding customer care and professionalism. They are all a credit to Whetherspoons

Wonderful location. Professional, courteous staff who worked tirelessly to serve food, drinks and clear tables. Staff at the bar were extremely helpful and, when asked, had no hesitation in bringing drinks to a table. The atmosphere was relaxed with a great mix of clientele all enjoying their time in a much-maligned hospitality chain. I visited with my elderly parents and I can honestly say that they felt relaxed, safe and comfortable which they wouldn't be in many other establishments. The manager played a great role in creating this environment. It was clear from her proactive approach and her visible presence that she, 'would stand for no nonsense'.

It took ages to get served at the bar. It was a busy day but it did take a particularly long time. We didn’t eat there and I’m glad we didn’t. We were sitting outside and it took so long for the plates to be cleared from the other tables, the birds started helping themselves to the leftovers on the plates. When the manager did come and clear the plates, he swept the table with the same brush he had just been sweeping the floor with. That was the first and only visit there during our stay, despite staying nearby.

Tried to get in here on a few different occasions and the door service is extremely unfriendly and unkind. One occasion only a few weeks ago me and my partner tried to enter, however they did not accept his perfectly legal ID, then we tried to get a second opinion by the bouncer around the back and he just waved us away and didn’t even give us the time of day. Today we tried to enter for a best friends 22nd after attending the Newcastle races, and as soon as we arrived 2 of the 10 of us were denied entry, one of which works for ‘Spoons herself. She then tried to ask why and was told she was too drunk, when she clearly was not, and the same to another friend. The friend that works at spoons then, again, tried to get a second opinion by the other doormen but before she could even do this, what appeared to be a manager, radioed to the other security her exact description and what she looked like when ALL of us were still stood there. I then questioned this with her and made her aware that this said friend is an employee of ‘Spoons and if she was too drunk, she would know not to come in that state. And the reply by, again, what appeared to be a manager, was ‘the door man has already decided.’ I have been to many other Wetherspoon's across the country for food and drinks and have never had a problem with any other. I am still yet to even see what the establishment looks like inside because of this disgraceful behaviour by door management. I have never even had this treatment anywhere else. Do better. If I don’t receive a response by ‘the owner’ in the next few weeks, I will be taking this further, as I say, I have never had this at any other ‘Spoons ever. Oh, and to add. None of us were ‘drunk’ or ‘had too much to drink’ the prices at the races?! Too expensive to even think about having too many there!!

Ordered food, still no food after half an hour. Complained, it would arrive However, after an hour nothing. Ordered food with a beer, got money back on the food, the manager didn't want to talk to us. Security does. However, they couldn't do anything about it. Apparently they discriminate against foreigners. Everyone got food, but we didn't! Many security guards, because the manager does not dare to talk to the customer. This tent is not recommended. The manager cannot handle her task and does not dare to talk to the customer. She leaves it to security. They make enough money from drinks and don't care about foreigners wanting to eat!

No food after an hour. If you complain about it, you get your money back. You order food with a cheap drink, but when you pay back you get the money back for the food, but you pay the full price for the food. The manager does not want to talk to you, cannot handle them, is not suitable. Security has to take over and solve the problem because she is afraid to talk to a customer. Worthless tent, not recommended.

Unless you want mediocre food and service I wouldn't bother all the hype isn't worth it. Food is average at best, selection of food wasn't worth the visit for the same money you could find much better. Very disappointed. Massive space and was wedged in a corner walked past staff who didn't say a word got up stairs to find out needed to go back down to pay to then come back up with your ticket.
