Thoroughly enjoyed our unexpected Christmas dinner. We stayed in the hotel room only, so got a special price voucher to get a meal in the restaurant fir a bargain price. We had a seafood starter, followed by turkey and gammon with trimmings. After was a lovely selection of gateau, plus we could have had Christmas pudding. Followed this with cheeses and crackers. A complimentary glass of fizz and not forgetting the crackers and unlimited hot drinks. We were so full, we were burstin ( excuse the pun). Definitely eat here again, even at the full price, as worth every penny.

Good choice of food but everything was cold. Most things were gone halfway through the time slot. Staff did not monitor i.e. the tea and coffee facilities, no mugs, milk. They only have to look and keep on top of things.

I continue using to be shocked by reviews about the hotel. We have not stayed as live in Folkestone but have nothing but praise for the staff in the dining room who go out of their way to give a good experience. The meal on Sunday was perfect, hot food, hot plates, beautifully cooked food and a wide choice of meat and vegetables.Yes the dining room was a bit cold but that part is the Victorian building and maybe not easy to heat. The staff are lovely and I made a point of thanking the lovely ladies who served us and the chef. The ballroom was cold but we soon warmed up when we started to dance. No charge for parking so don’t u der stand complaints about that.

I had to write a separate review for this restaurant as the staff and chef work so hard. We have just come back from a 3 night holiday at the Grand Burstin and with all the changes due to Covid the staff in here are amazing. We had Jacquie on our first night, who was lovely and then Fahed on the other occasions. Both staff were very professional working in different ways because of Covid there is no more buffet but instead, they serve you. The restaurant was socially distanced and people wore masks when walking about. We stayed for both breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was one of the best I've had with lovely sausage and black pudding - my fav! The food was lovely and hot and full of flavour. The desserts were amazing - thank you to all the staff for making our stay lovely.

We have stayed at The Burstin quite a few times and always upgrade to the Victorian restaurant . We also visit Folkestone occasionally and have had dinner in this restaurant many times. One reviewer complained about the size of the plate ...being to small but you can go and fill your plate as many times as you like,so where is the problem? It is better than having a large plate that some people fill to overflowing and then leave half of it making a lot of waste.Obviously I cannot comment on some reviewers criticism of their experience of the food served as I was not there only to say I have used this restaurant many times and have no complaints regarding quality or choice of food on offer also it's not going to break the bank at £5.50 for an all you can eat 3 course dinner.

This is one of the few remaining parts of the original Victorian hotel and it's a splendid room to eat in.Included in our hotel stay were 3 course evening meals with a choice of carvery, hot dish or vegetarian option, big choice of desserts or cheeseboard for afters and coffee/ tea to finish. A bottle of decent wine from the bar was £12.50 with a free bottle after 3 paid purchases. An extensive full English breakfast was fresh, tasty and hot. Continental breakfast of cereals and fruit, croissants and pastries were also available. No one would starve unless they were a food snob or incredibly picky.A special mention for the staff who invariably pleasant and helpful.Brittania Hotels are a value for money budget chain so if this is not what you want pay more and go elsewhere. Do not be put off by the walk through the huge lounge bar or the walk past the non-premium restaurant on the way to the Victorian Restaurant. We decided to try it, as this hotel is so close to the harbour and we did not want to climb up the steep Old High Street to one of our usual eateries.Dinner for non-residents is £12.50. The food is buffet style with a huge choice of starters, mains, salads, hot vegetables, puddings, cheese and biscuits and coffee/tea with mint chocolates. The serving containers are kept warm on a steamer. These are replenished regularly. We ate heartily and enjoyed all of the courses. There were 3 of us and between us we tried everything! The standard of the main courses was surprisingly good. All of the food was simple and fresh. For the main course I had a mixed grill with sauté potatoes, baked mushrooms and tomatoes. The others had fish in parsley sauce and braised beef with creamy mashed potatoes and vegetables. There was also Cumberland sausage and salmon salad available.Staff were polite and helpful. We ordered a bottle of wine, but other diners walked from the bar with their drinks to accompany the meal. Tables were cleared and cleaned efficiently between courses. The only negative point was a couple of tannoys to remind diners that an entertainment was due to start at 8.30pm. After dinner we adjourned to the bar with a view out to the harbour. Drinks are very reasonable. £16 for a bottle of Merlot, which was served at room temperature, as it should be. Bar prices are £2.20 for a glass of wine and £1.70 for a half pint. This is not fine dining, but it is very good value and tasty too.

Visited Port Lympne for the day to enjoy the safari experience and afternoon tea. I can't recommend it enough! Huge site, very clean and good facilities (although maybe a few more bins further out are needed, ending up carrying an empty coffee cup almost round the whole place 😅) The safari experience is a must! You'll see animals and areas you can't get to on foot. Penny was our safari driver and host and was fantastic, truly passionate about her job. The afternoon tea is also a must! They catered for my partners dislike of currants in the scones and even swapped the carrot cake for something else. Something I didn't even consider when I let them know about the scones! The service was great and my partner got a complimentary drink for her birthday, they made her a mocktail which was great. Food was super, fresh and plenty of tea. Sausage roll and quiche came out warm too. For those reviews that complain about not seeing animals or empty enclosures, remember this isn't a zoo. They have space to roam and not always in view and if it's cold, much like humans, they'll be sheltered!

Have visited before and found the food reasonably good. Today however the fish and chips were poor. Cheap grey fish and “homefries” as the Americans would say ie chips with skin on like fried jacket potatoes not chunky chips. Bar lady friendly and obliging. Pretty fairy lights and plenty of dogs too. It is awkward to say anything when one is with friends.

The ambience was good plus service excellent however the ox cheek was slightly off .Fresh cuts I would recommend if they are marinating in wine over knight .My partner enjoyed the bangers and mash .I did enjoy the cabbage and the gravy though and food presentation went well with the red wine .It’s a sad shame that they no longer serve ravioli .This is one of the places that had that good ravioli .
