The Victoria Inn in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I was staying in a family room on the first floor, with a bad entrance going outside to edge of the building , going through outside metal stairs with a view of a fan and rubbish bags . The lights on the first floor werent working . The area was okay next to a CO-OP. The room was generally pretty nice with 2 big beds and a nice loo with a power shower. The breakfast was really nice and tasty and fresh. I recoomond for 1 night to 1 week stays.

This Inn is more of a modern restaurant with a few rooms above it. Busy with many activities on a regular basis. Can be noisy. Friendly staff, food is fine and an English breakfast is included.

I would of given 5 stars but the drain smell in the bathroom was awful.

Very relaxed environment. Food was delicious, and the portions were a good size. Staff were friendly and helpful, and there was good variety on the menu. There was plenty of space, it didn't feel at all crowded or loud. The food came out very quickly, within about 5-10 minutes.

Visited today for a baby shower.. 3 people didn’t turn up which caused some staff to be very bitter towards the rest of the party. Room was booked 1-5pm but they cut it short and said we had to leave at 3.30 we all sat outside and the room remained empty so can’t see why we was all told to leave by 3.30! Also they decided to charge an extra £50 because 3 people didn’t turn up AND charged 1 person for 2 main meals because of their own mistake! 1 person was serviced a veggie lasagna but told the waitress she ordered beef lasagna they said they will raise it but when everyone went to pay she was charged for both meals and told she should of raised it when serviced her meal which she did. Because they decided to reduce the party’s time down we didn’t have enough time to play baby shower games that were set up ready to play. We won’t be visiting again

Asked for quiet area...stuck next to a disused snooker table. Food was good Atmosphere so so

On arrival at this pub/bed and breakfast we were booked into room 3. On entering the room there was an awful drain smell, we closed the bathroom door and opened the window which did clear the smell from the main room. I phoned down to speak with the manager who said he would come and take a look at the room. On entering the room he said "oh yes I can smell it too" he went and checked the other rooms which were all fine. He then returned and put some cleaner around the toilet, this did not cure it. We went down for breakfast the next morning and told the manager we still had the bad smell, he said sorry and would look at it again today. We had breakfast and went on our way to visit our friends. When we returned we must admit the room did not smell quite as bad as before but was still smelling rather awful. We did not see the manager again. The next day it was again the same. On checking out we were still charged the full amount on mentioning the smell the young girl said oh really sorry about that. Food: On the first morning we got up and made our way down the stairs to the restaurant area for our breakfast, the tables were all laid out ready for us, you have a choice and a selection of cereals too. We both chose the full English breakfast, this came out and was very well presented and the sausage was lovely (makes a change as sausages are a bit of a hit n miss). On the second morning my husband chose the bacon bap but I again had the full English, but this day it was not well presented and the bacon and sausage were over cooked it was nothing like the day befores. Not sure if it was a different chef but was definately not like the one the day before. The Sunday morning we were just about to wake up and the fire alarm went off. We were already told that nobody is on site during the night so we would have to call for help if neeeded. We all left our rooms and went down the staircase, The door to the kitchen was open but when I shouted out to see if anyone was there, there was no reply, I walked over to a shed which had lights on (in the carpark area) but nobody was there. When I got back to the other people the chef came out and said it's ok there is no fire , it's from one of the rooms upstairs, so I said if you know it's one of the rooms upstairs how do you know there is not a fire (as he had not been up there), he said well I can check if you want, so I said I would prefer it if you did. He went into next doors room and said all good, then came into our room and said its fine, went next door and said oh its your room you set the alarm off and left us to it.. This did not please or reassure any of us that was staying there. We were just thankful that it was our last stay. We went down for breakfast and saw 2 big colanders full with potatoes that had been peeled left out in the open by a drain, for all animals etc to walk pass this is so unhygienic in my view, so glad we were not having dinner there and is supposed to have a hygiene of 5, mmmmm Such a shame as we visit once a year to Cornwall but will not be recomending this venue ever again to anyone.

Wonderful meal, staff friendly, portions good value (not stingy with meat, £12 or so) and lots of veg options on fresh and well cooked carvery. Roasties fabulously crispy, gravy perfect. Non carvery meals going past to other tables looked good. If you ask for carvery chef calls you up and carves for you, then help yourself to veg- they don't do "tickets". Scrupulously clean airy restaurant with well spaced seating and well maintained clean facilities (I'm picky about "clean", does it show??). There's outside seating and an indoor/outdoor pergola you can eat in for fresh air while dry but the restaurant has a skylight with windows opened for ventilation (if this is a concern, hope this is useful to know). They did good looking puddings but were too full of carvery... Glad we found this place while lost in Truro, will definitely be coming back for another carvery, thanks team!!

Wasn’t hugely impressed, nothing particularly wrong , although beef carvery could have been cooked less and the Yorkshire better. To be honest it is much nicer down the road at the County Arms

Great carvery and lovely atmosphere

The carvery is fantastic, the prices great and its every day of the week! You get given the meat and then everything else is literally help yourself, one time obviously but the foods is delicious and so much choice, plenty, great value and very tasty!! So happy with it. Staff really helpful and friendly, very clean and tidy lovely atmosphere, overall really nice. I would easily rate this a 9/10, if not a 10, you'll have to try it for yourselves! It was delicious x and wooow the Yorkshire puds are huuuugggeeee!!!

Went at lunch time on a Monday, relatively quiet. There was a good carvery but we opted for smaller meals from a good range on the regular menu.

We have been here many times over the years and have always been very happy and we are kean local supporters. Tonight was our first visit in a while and we have been amazed by tonight's carvery. They have always been great value but Tonight we met chef Jordon for the first time and he has taken things to a new level. It was an absolutely superb choice of vegetables, more than we had seen before. All cooked beautifully and with imagination. Yorkshire pudding to die for. Big light snd fluffy. Proper crispy roast potatoes and a selection of wonderful meats. Jordan is clearly a real asset to the team. The waiting staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful either. Had jacket potato with pulled pork. It was awful. Very little pork in some kind of awful sauce and pink onions. A small portion. Potato was not fluffy as you would expect a jacket potato to be. Certainly not value for money

We arrived to be pushed into a back cold room because we had small dog Seated right by busy bar. I have terminal cancer and get cold With my 90 year old Mum husband and disabled sister. So dissapointed. Food all over cooked Worse I'm vegetarian so couldn't eat my food. Never come again. Such a shame, staff serving food very kind

The service was excellent, the carvery was average...the stuffing was so hard it was impossible to eat it. The cauliflower cheese was luke warm...the roast potatoes were excellent so was the swede unfortunately not much of it also the sprouts were a bit thin on the ground....we arrived a little late , about 2pm,so I will go again, but a bit earlier, hopefully the standard of the food will be better. I hope so as the place was recommended and we traveled down from Dartmoor.

Brilliant staff, excellent accommodation, comfortable beds, enjoyful breakfast overall best stay in Cornwall, congratulations.

Food very good, service very poor.

Ordered take away meals and deserts for delivery, The lasagnes were dry and tough. The gravy was watery, potatoes and vegetables hard and Yorkshires cooked from frozen not worth the £14 each for a large roast. My daughter had the pulled pork burger and that was tough and dry. Now onto deserts, brownies expensive, both sticky toffee pudding and the crumble were cold including the custard! I'm sorry but for £94.50 I feel extremely robbed.

I stayed here for just one night after work. I was starving so promptly got checked in had a lovely warm shower and headed down to a very busy restaurant. Went to the bar expecting to have to wait, immediately got a drink and given a table and menus. Even though each staff member was doing three things at a time, incredible. I ordered off the special menu because when im hungry i feel its the time to try things i might not like. Went for mozzarella cheese bites and brie, bacon, cranberry and beef burger. The cheese bites sent me into another plain of existence. The tomato sauce they served them with and the salad, incredible. Next onto the brie burger. Unfortunately i had completely forgotten that i absolutely hate brie. Anyway smashed 3/4 of the burger before i let that sink in because the cranberry sauce was doing something wild with the bacon. After rather embarrassingly letting the waitress take my plate with 1/4 of a burger on. She asked me if i wanted desert. Guess what i said… YES but i asked her to choose it for me, she was very nervous but while wizzing around other customers she flew past and asked, “served with clotted cream or ice cream? ICE CREAM i said in pure excitement. I kid you not, the most delicious passionfruit cheesecake was presented in front of me. The restaurant packed with customers saturated into nothing around me and for the next 60 seconds i was in a fruity cheesy ice cream wonderland. Sadly the waitress was too busy for me to thank her so i paid the bill and retired back to my room. If you get a chance. Visit this place it will make your day.

Booked for xmas lunch for the family on boxing day as I was working Xmas day. Really looking forward to not cooking and eating a lovely meal out. This was however not the case sadly my mother and I are vegetarian so ordered the winter soup of butter bean and winter squash. It was so curried it was burning my stomach and made my mother feel sick. So it was left . There was no mention of curry on the menu. When our main course arrived it was supposed to be Moroccan nut roast it was again full of curry and not a nut in site. It was rice, sultanas peppers and curry no nuts . We also felt that the service wasn't the best having to ask to get plates cleared . Also eating our desert looking at congeling gravy boars that were not removed. When taking my concerns to a manager I was basically told it was my fault as I haven't stated dietary requirements. If it had stated curry I would not have ordered it but it was very misrepresented on the menu. The manger took the two vegetarian main courses off the bill. Which was rather negated by the managers attitude. IWould not recommend xmas lunch unless you eat meat there. After paying 190 pounds I felt disappointed at the whole affair it spoilt the day for Me . I will not be returning or recommending I was planning to go there for the new year but won't now be doing so.

Haven't been for a while and went for Christmas dinner. Turkey meat nice beef and pork awful. But what really let it down was the over cooked tastless veg. Went in 1st sitting all food looked and tasted reheated. No seasoning just very over cooked. Very disappointed as a special gathering. Also had starter and this was over cooked little side of wilted salad and a plop of garlic mayonnaise. The place has been done up since I last went and looks nice but food has gone down hill plus price gone up but you expect that these days.

The Victoria Inn, is brilliant, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, and the Inn is very good value for money. But, and there is always a but, the room was ok, but the smell in the bathroom was so overpowering, it made my wife sick. We had to go and buy air fresheners to put in the bathroom to stop the smell, which we assumed came up from the kitchen below our room. So as much as we loved your pub, we won't be coming back

The pub was really busy, but our booked table was ready and we were promptly seated. The table was nicely decorated for Christmas, and the staff were attentive and friendly. Most of us had the carvery, I'm vegetarian so had nut roast with veg, the veg were really good, a nice selection, only criticism was the cauliflower cheese didn't seem to have any cheese in it! The chef also kindly gave me a box of leftover meat scraps for my dog - which she was very pleased about! Very pleasant lunch.

Went with a group. Most of the group had carvery and many complained the veg was cold. Two of us had Hake which had obviously been sitting on a hot plate for some time as the sauce was congealed on the plate and vegetables which made them unedible. The Hake was fine as it sat on top of everything. After reading all the good reviews I found it very disappointing. Saturday 16th lunch. I didnt complain because the staff were rushed off their feet as it was.

last time we were here I wrote a great review and we had a great time so we decided to return for dinner very disappointing i ordered whitebait starter and scampy main very annoyed that they had no tarter sauce aispite there being a co op next door i did suggest they go next door and get some but no a member of our party went and got some instead annoying zip had gone from the waitresses carvery was excellent I was told in all disapointing for what i thought would be my goto place to eat

8 of us met for the set Christmas lunch. Our waiter was really efficient and friendly. I had the Morrocan lamb starter which was delicious. I then had the carvery and chose beef and pork. Very friendly chef at the servery too. All great up until then, but the roast beef was tough and inedible. My friend's dog will be happy, but I was disappointed. One of my friends also chose beef, even happier dog..... I bumped into several people I knew, all of whom could not eat the beef. In the queue to pay another lady asked if I had the beef as hers was inedible as so tough. I told the waittess when paying and had an apology, but that was it. I would go back for the lamb, but will swerve the carvery in future!

We have just returned from a meal at The Victoria Inn, Threemilestone. The carvery was OK although rather dried up. My husband had the Bass, the actual fish was quite good but the accompanying vegetables were so burnt we couldn't even work out what they were.

Never had to book before at Christmas, went there today for carvery to celebrate my dad's birthday but got turned away by a curteous member of staff who told us that only people who booked were allowed in today and that it's "christmas" Very disappointed. Allso this year when we have gone the food hasn't been quite up to the standard of the year before, potatoes were bland and burnt, I don't know if management etc has changed but things not quite the same anymore.

Really good meals. Absolutely the best carvery in the Truro area. Book a table - it's very popular and busy, but the service is always excellent.

Lovely evening with friends. Drinks and desserts were excellent. However, one waitress in particular (blue/green hair) let the experience down. When handing us our food, it felt as if she was doing us a favour being there. She did not produce a smile, nor engage with us as customers. The desserts were slammed down on the table and the whole experience felt cold. I work in hospitality myself, and it is evident that this waitress should not be FOH staff with an attitude so sour. We all have bad days but I feel this was not excusable. A real shame because our evening had been lovely leading up to this.

Have eaten here before so we thought we would go again as we were near the hospital. We ordered the steak and ale pie and the penne carbonara from the specials board. The penne pasta was actually tagiatelli but tasted ok with more seasoning. We weren't told the pasta was different. The pie was so tough the meat was served to our dog and 1/2 taken home for later. It was impossible to chew it - steak pie is supposed to be tender - this tasted like the roasted beef cubed from yesterday's carvery meat which had been cut against the grain of the meat. The pastry was tough too. One of my pet dislikes is when the kitchen puts runny, thin gravy over chips - It should be in a jug so you can put it on the pie or where you choose. Soggy chips are not nice. Service was slow however, Ending on a plus, the staff we friendly and attentive but the food did let the place down on this occasion - Sorry.

Had a delicious carvery here and couldn't fault anything from the ease of online booking, through to parking. Service was excellent and the carvery left nothing to be desired, oh perhaps some English mustard. Large choice of meats, delicious and extensive choice of vegetables, plus Yorkies and stuffing. Drinks were good quality too. No room for a pud, but the display looked terrific, as did the other meals and we'll be back before we leave the area.

Stopped by for quick lunch. Staff very pleasant but very slow service (it was quite busy to be fair). Food was ok but not great amount/value.

Decided to have a meal before taking a holiday and was disappointed with the service. The person who welcomed us didn’t smile , pointed to our reserved table and didn’t interact at all. We then on our return of our holiday decided to return for another meal. We were greeted with the same person who gave us a smile this time. So I thought as she was pregnant she may just have had a bad day the last time. She took our order, forgot our drinks. We had to remind her . Had a lovely meal and then decided to have a dessert. I asked her about one of the options and then she left us to decide. She came to the tables next to us several times after this but never asked if we would like to order a dessert. Time went by and she showed absolutely no interest in taking our order. She was standing by the till and we were fed up with waiting so decided to pay and go. She then said as we got to the till, I was just going to come over to you! No I don’t think so, we waited quite a long time. Very disappointing visit again , it’s a shame because the food is lovely.

The food is something special. The staff are all friendly and can't do enough to help you in every way We will definitely be booking to stay again. As far as the wife and I we rate them first class.
