The Victoria Comet in Newcastle upon Tyne

Came in before and after a trip to Durham for a staff day out. We were really well looked after in both instances and the food we ordered was much enjoyed. Thank you guys!

Ania was very helpful and also Sophie. A real pleasure.

Spent a couple of nights in Newcastle and as an avid fan of the Nicholsons App I had to pop in. Oh dear spent most of both nights in here. Many thanks to Ania and Sophie for great service and on the second night when we also had great Fish and Chips.

This old bar is right across from the train station. It’s cool looking inside. It was in the old Micheal Caine movie Get Carter. It feel old and the people were super nice.

Friendly place , great staff even greater pint of Peroni ! Really handy for the station and the Royal station hotel whete we were staying

Love the Spit and Vomit you hear languages from all over the world and accents from all over the country it's the number 1 bar for Travellers and Tourists but Beware of those trolley cases deadly after a few wines or ales

Awesome place to have a few drinks off the train, Anya is lovely. 315 Service was quick and now Anya can trust what people promise.

Had lunch here on the way to the theatre. Very well situated near the central station and Metro. We opted for the fish and chips and couldn't fault it...large white flakes of Haddock in a beautiful crispy batter. Service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

Brilliant pub opposite Central Station, Newcastle. Menu very good.

Waited over 35 minutes for fish and chips. Fish was Luke warm, chips were cold and peas freezing. 1 pint Peroni and a coke £9.75!!!!

Great pub in a very good location for visiting Newcastle city center, straight over the road from central station so has good links to trains. Has an excellent atmosphere with very friendly staff and has some excellent food at very reasonable prices with a good range of drinks to choose from.

Loved the vibe, felt well organised and the staff were very helpful. Food was great too

I was gasping for a jobby and found the toilet paper soft, strong, and thoroughly absorbent. They even played The Smiths while I laid cable.

Stopped here for breakfast on our way to London. It was the best breakfast I've had on our U.K. travels! I highly recommend it!

Great time at this place. We came down for a team night our and they were so welcoming. Leon and Dom were great. Highly recommended

Great evening drinks and buffet for 30+ friends and family organised for us in the upstairs function room. Ania and Dom (and Leon) were terrific in advance and splendid on the day. Our second function at the Comet in recent years and both excellent in every way.

Super helpful staff Tom and his delightful supervisor were incredibly helpful. I do love a nice pint of Neck Oil and they are serves in beautiful Beaver Town glasses. They accommodated allergies brilliantly. The service was fast and the food tasted lovely. It came out hot too, and that is always a bonus. I would take other friends there when they visit. My friend from America was also happy with the service she received and how kind Tom was x

This is a great pub in a charming old building located close to the station. The staff are really friendly and there is a good selection of beers. They also have comedy events here sometimes and it’s a good place to watch football.

Called here after the Newcastle spurs game and had a few beers with some of the spurs fans. No hassle and a great atmosphere

This is a busy city centre pub, with lots of Saturday night revellers enjoying themselves. Value for money.

Such a lovely place to go for a few drinks or to eat. We pop in all the time coming and going to central station. This time was before a gig in town, perfect distance from everything.

Well known public house opposite the station and our hotel Usually first and last stop when in Newcastle Drink food and football and open early when going home 1000

I went to the bar to look at the ales and the bar person ignored me. I ordered the beer and paid her. The beer was below average. A bit vinegary. There was a loud person in the bar and the Olympics were on every screen.

Visited multiple times for work meetings / social get togethers . Nice traditionally decorated pub, lots of history and a good selection of drinks. I’ve not eaten here so can’t comment on food. Staff always friendly and helpful.

A classic old time pub atmosphere. We came here for a pub lunch. Ordered electronically from our phone and the food was delivered to our table. One lunch was good, the other not so much. Because of the ordering process, there was virtually no human contact and no warmth. Blah.

Very pleasant experience. We're just visiting the area and had just arrived. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The food was nice and arrived in good time. The venue is also a cool little spot.

One of my favourite pubs in Newcastle! The food is all delicious and there is a nice variety on the menu. They have lots of TV screens making it a great location to watch football, and the staff are always friendly giving a lovely atmosphere to this charming old pub.

Very cozy pub, varied selection of beers, excellent service. Doom ale is recommended. This pub definitely deserves a visit!

Found this lovely old pub dating back to Queen Victorias days, my wife and daughter and I opted for the small plates of Haddock, Spanish Sausage , Chicken ,Nachos and Halomi , all served by nice polite staff , my fav was the Haddock, my wife’s was the Chicken , my daughters was the Chorizo Sausage washed down with Prosecco for the girls and a Bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale , we enjoyed it so much that we are going back tonight for a Special homemade pie before we go to the Springsteen Gig in the Stadium of Light, I would highly recommend this gem of a pub for it ambiance and choice of Ales and really friendly staff

Tried to walk in with my 19 year old son for an orange at dinner time and got refused by the little old guy at the door with a security badge because my son never had I.d.

This pub is directly opposite Newcastle Central station. I came here for a spot of lunch and a drink. I was served by a pleasant bar maid. The food of sausage and mash came really quick - less than 10 mins. The food was great and tasty. I would definitely come here again.

Visited this bar on Friday afternoon after getting off the train and was welcomed by an electric atmosphere really feel good Geordie buzz, the bar staff were wonderful despite being so busy still attentive and friendly and very welcoming great selection of beers and wines something for everyone. Highly recommend if your near central station

I organised a surprise 60th birthday party for 60 people in Newcastle. Victoria Comet has the best room for hire upstairs I’ve seen in central Newcastle. Great accessible location, private bar, great buffet options, no room hire or minimum spend, and really helpful staff in the pub and online. Had a really good night - thanks to all at VC

This pub is one of kind. Many people pass and go being so close to the station. It’s the nature of the beast. The staff are attentive, welcoming and chilled considering. They do a great job. Sam and Ania are awesome.

Would have been good but for the irritating bar flies. Service was great and the look of the place is relaxing.

Great staff. Food menu too limited and wow £16 for a burger, drinks also very expensive. Probably explains why the craft union pub we left was very busy and the Nicholsons was empty. This is newcastle they like up market. Don't think the Nicholsons brand is good anymore why not switch to all bar one or even a Toby in the other direction.
