Great pub right opposite the train station. Good selection of drinks and a nice pint of Guinness

I had been drinking here for several years. Went in here with my daughter last year, and kids were allowed in up to 7pm. Went in today with daughter, for something to eat & drink. Was told today by barman - who knows I have been drinking there for years, he's served me! - that kids haven't been allowed for "several years". Nonsense.

Chatted happily with the land lord about Get Carter links. Couldn’t have been more welcoming. Poured a lovely pint of Guinness and it really was a treat to stand in the steps of one of my favourite ever actors.

Opposite railway station and cheap drinks

Popped in here for the Pies and really wasn’t disappointed, for me best thing I ate whilst in Newcastle for 5 days. Really good quality pies heavily filled with meat, fantastic mash potato and a lovely gravy all though the single pot served is very small they didn’t hesitate to provide another pot each. Pies are on the pricey side for a pie but definitely worth it up there with the best pies I’ve had without a doubt.

A good place to have a beer. There will be enough space to sitdown. In contrast of the railwaystation, this is the place to have your beer/wine/cider and so on as the restauration area should be in the Vicorian period. Make the detour for a drink.

Nice place for a few drinks. Friendly staff, good selection of drinks. Clean and tidy. Live sport aswell, plenty of screens. All round decent pub.

Great Breakfast after a Saturday night on the lash

I went to watch the football and have some food, incredible atmosphere the full time i was in there. Staff were so helpful and always checking if they could help with anything. 10/10 on service. I couldn't recommend the place enough. Great place. Definitely going back

literally no gravy just conjieled onions and shady portion of mash and about a tablespoon of brisket on the loaded fries or should I say frozen chips well U live and learn no repeat orders from this amigo.......

I visited the pub with a friend to watch two six Nations matches. I reserved a table. They saved me a brilliant table. We were looked after well. I had a bacon double cheeseburger and my friend had the fish finger sandwich. Food was delicious, the staff were lovely . It's a pleasure to visit here

Bland food and not much for the money

Bar staff were chalk and cheese - person who took food order clearly didn't want to be there. Tried the 'award winning' pies. Steak pie wasn't bad but chicken and mushroom very disappointing. Served upside down splatted onto a couple of spoons of mash. Supposed to be in a creamy cider sauce - not evident at all. Whole pie tasted overwhelmingly of mushrooms. Took ages to come, table ordering not working.

The staff are fantastic and the food is beautiful. All I can say is OMG the steak pie......it was amazing!!! definitely recommend going in for food.......I would definitely go back.

Had a lovely visit to this charming pub with a good selection of ales! The staff were incredibly friendly and provided great, personalised service. We felt very welcome from the moment we walked in, and the atmosphere was super warm and inviting. Would highly recommend!

It was early and quiet. The service was amazing and the food arrived quickly.

Went here randomly for lunch whilst waiting for our train from Newcastle. Good selection of food and beverages offered and comfortable seating to relax and spend time. The food we ordered was excellent and the staff were brilliant, giving efficient and friendly service. We felt really at home and enjoyed all the tidbits of the building's history displayed on the walls. There was sport playing on screens but not in an invasive way. The ladies' toilets were clean and pleasant to use (husband confirmed this was true of the gents also). Overall a lovely boozer, we will definitely return when we're next in town, thank you so much! :)

Nice and cozy pub opposite Newcastle upon Tyne train station. We were able to bridge the time until a meeting without anyone constantly asking us to order drinks/food.

A great traditional pub near Newcastle Central Station. Famous for being in the 1960s movie Get Carter.

Held our Christmas Party in the room upstairs, everything from start of planning to the event was spot on. Ania and the team really looked after us and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as a venue.

Had a great weekend in this great pub,catered for everyone and the staff were very friendly and efficent. Grub was awesome (bangers and mash) and sooooo delicious and pints were savage too. Sport on the tv too.will be back sgain when in newcastle🍺🍺👍

Spent a couple of nights in Newcastle and as an avid fan of the Nicholsons App I had to pop in. Oh dear spent most of both nights in here. Many thanks to Ania and Sophie for great service and on the second night when we also had great Fish and Chips.

Love the Spit and Vomit you hear languages from all over the world and accents from all over the country it's the number 1 bar for Travellers and Tourists but Beware of those trolley cases deadly after a few wines or ales

Had lunch here on the way to the theatre. Very well situated near the central station and Metro. We opted for the fish and chips and couldn't fault it...large white flakes of Haddock in a beautiful crispy batter. Service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

Waited over 35 minutes for fish and chips. Fish was Luke warm, chips were cold and peas freezing. 1 pint Peroni and a coke £9.75!!!!

Great pub in a very good location for visiting Newcastle city center, straight over the road from central station so has good links to trains. Has an excellent atmosphere with very friendly staff and has some excellent food at very reasonable prices with a good range of drinks to choose from.

I was gasping for a jobby and found the toilet paper soft, strong, and thoroughly absorbent. They even played The Smiths while I laid cable.

Stopped here for breakfast on our way to London. It was the best breakfast I've had on our U.K. travels! I highly recommend it!

Great evening drinks and buffet for 30+ friends and family organised for us in the upstairs function room. Ania and Dom (and Leon) were terrific in advance and splendid on the day. Our second function at the Comet in recent years and both excellent in every way.

Great pub to sink a few after the match, before getting on the train. There's a Greggs next door aswell and the station in directly opposite. Perfect

Super helpful staff Tom and his delightful supervisor were incredibly helpful. I do love a nice pint of Neck Oil and they are serves in beautiful Beaver Town glasses. They accommodated allergies brilliantly. The service was fast and the food tasted lovely. It came out hot too, and that is always a bonus. I would take other friends there when they visit. My friend from America was also happy with the service she received and how kind Tom was x

This is a great pub in a charming old building located close to the station. The staff are really friendly and there is a good selection of beers. They also have comedy events here sometimes and it’s a good place to watch football.

Called here after the Newcastle spurs game and had a few beers with some of the spurs fans. No hassle and a great atmosphere

My partner and I visited Victoria Comet last Saturday evening. As always, we had a great time. The food and the atmosphere were great. It is highly recommended.

Such a lovely place to go for a few drinks or to eat. We pop in all the time coming and going to central station. This time was before a gig in town, perfect distance from everything.

I went to the bar to look at the ales and the bar person ignored me. I ordered the beer and paid her. The beer was below average. A bit vinegary. There was a loud person in the bar and the Olympics were on every screen.
