Went in for drinks it's a good honest pub If you like how pubs used to be run (not many left) this place is a must-go I love the relaxed way of this pub in the heart of Romsey. Friendly landlady and landlord they have a great seating area out the front and back where you can watch the world go by a lot of pubs just don't have this feel anymore.

The Tudor Rose is a fabulous, traditional pub in the centre of Romsey. It is an attractive bar with a lovely, beamed ceiling and attractive brick bar. With dart board, telly and music on stream it is a typical local boozer and, with excellent service and a friendly atmosphere it really is a top pub.

Visited the pub while staying for a few days in Romsey. This pub was near so we decided to go in expecting a warm welcome. However all looked old and far-reaching glory. Not cosy or whatever. Worn out furniture. Staff was a young girl who just poured the drinks and went back to the table with her boyfriend, food and mobile phone. Some darters present but no words exchanged. Disappointment. Finished the drink and went off. Not coming back.

We dropped in for a late breakfast on impulse. Brilliant quality full English. We always keep a bit of sausage for our dog but she didn’t get much as they were so good!! £7.95 for a good breakfast including unlimited tea or coffee is almost unbelievable!

Avoid the Tudor Rose in Romsey unless you know the land lady. You will not get let in. Regardless of how many people leave

Don't expect silver service but do expect service with a smile and lots of camaraderie from the locals. Saturday nights offer live entertainment and it is fab.

Quaint pub in the town centre tgat also serves food which is very worth a visit. Quite a small pub but there's a large seating area outside. There are bands on a Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the pub is dog friendly.

This pub is terrible. Sadly it was far too loud and the service was really slow. There are much better pubs in Romsey to go to

This Hotel is burned deep into My Memory. We stayed here for a night, in the first week of September in 1967. There were My Mother and Father, Myself and My Uncle Arthur and My Aunt Bud. The next morning after a hearty Breakfast (their Food was Delicious) My Parents and I set sail from Southampton Docks, bound for Adelaide, South Australia. In the interceding 52 Years I have never forgotten this beautiful Hotel and I am delighted to see that it still survives. I even kept one of there Paper Tissue Drink Coasters from back in 1967, safely Laminated for the Happy Memories it evokes.

Real fire a nice feature, on a cold or wet day. Drinks averagely priced and food is good value on a limited menu. Toilets are outside and the whole place could do with a make over. Staff are friendly and service is good.

Definitely a pub where locals hang out. I went in the middle of the week towards the end of the night, so I could have gotten a bad impression due to the time I went. The beer was good and the bartender was responsive, but the atmosphere seemed a lot like "Moe's Bar" from the Simpsons complete with Barney.

Rather a grim pub, although traditional it's rather tired and could do with some love. It's a great position in the town centre so a real shame it not more inviting. On the plus side they do have live music and it's generally busy with locals. OK for a quick beer I suppose but not much else in my opinion.

Arrived early yesterday for a few drinks with friends. Blazing fire set the scene. Nice simple pub atmosphere with plenty of drinks as you'd expect. Probably hasn't changed much in the 500 years since it was built.

Another vibrant location with a great singer who managed to wow the guests with some well known tunes. It was very busy, but still easy to get a drink and have a dance if you so wished.

We came back on the train from Portsmouth and needed a drink after a day at the dockyard on Bank Holiday weekend. What a great time my wife and I had. Live music, friendly greeting from the lady managing the place. Dancing, singing and just a great feel good place to be. Good cold beer and fast service. Friendly clientele. Visit the place, kick back and enjoy a typical pub atmosphere.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

This little pub is squeezed between a charity bookshop and a butchers, opposite Barclays Bank on the Cornmarket in the historic market town of Romsey. A pretty courtyard full of greenery and flowers welcomes you. A fabulous sun trap where on a Sunday afternoon you can while away your time listening to live music that changes weekly. A small menu offers a range of tasty sandwiches and delights freshly prepared whilst you wait. Breakfast is also available. Daily papers are available too. Lisa, the lovely friendly Landlady, and her team, are always on hand to welcome you with a warm smile. Live music also on a Saturday night. The first time we visited this pub, although it was very busy, Lisa, working behind the bar on a Saturday night, welcomed us warmly with a 'hello, how are you?'. Even when busy, the service is fast and efficient. Ambience fabulous. If you're passing through as a visitor, on foot, on a bicycle, or motorbike, it's a nice place to chill.

The hotel has no AC in the rooms, and actually they have no running ventilation in the sleeping area, just the bathroom. Speaking of area, the area around the hotel is tragic. On the plus side the pizza is delicious and the drafted beer is cold and cheap. Parking is free. The mood and the competence of the crew varies a lot.

Potatoes were so over cooked they were hard, the portion of beef was awful, tiny slices of very rare and hard to cut through as it was not cooked.

A cut above the usual pub grub place. Food is of a high standard and service first rate. Recommend the garlic pizette and the onion rings.
