We picked this pub at the last minute, as a 1/2 way place to meet with family. So pleased we did!Food was good and tasty. Suited the fussy eaters in our party & 1 x veggie.Friendly, helpful staff, excellent service, good value for money.Yes the pub is a bit battered around the edges, but it doesn't matter at all. We decided to take the mother in law out for Sunday lunch . We went to the trumpet inn . Could do with a refurb . Old and tired pub. Toilets not much to be disired . Ordered 2 beef dinners and a pork dinner for the mother in law . The beef on my plate was chewy couldn't eat it . The veg I guess was steamed was really hard near to raw . The mother in law couldn't eat her veg as too hard . To be fair my husband ate his dinner after. Mentioning the chewy beef what he couldn't eat he left but he said his food was ok nothing to write home about though . We the bar staff came to collect the plates and ask if it was ok . I said I didn't enjoy mine nor did the mother in law which she could tell as the plates were still full of food . She came back saying she had spoken to the manager who said we would only have to pay for two meals but wasent happy as we didn't tell them at the start of the meal that it was not nice and next time could we tell them straight away . She also said we have had 60 dinners today and your the only complaint . Tough I don't complain unless the food is horrible and if you want customers not to give you feed back tough ....Cheeky bugger I thought how am I going to know if I like the food till I decide I can't eat any more . So in other words they don't like you to complain . Won't be going back there and will tell family and friends not too either

the pub was taken over earlier this year by very friendly new owners who are doing there best to make a go of it & doing a grand job so far, we have eaten here a few times and have not been disappointed the portion sizes are good, food always piping hot served in a friendly manner & very good value for money with reasonable prices, we think the menu is great being good homely food nothing fancy, they also offer a great range of drinks, we do prefer to sit in the garden when the weather allows as the inside can be a little drab, they do usually have some music playing which is good because when we have been there, there has been very few customers in the pub but i'm sure they are a lot busier in the evenings. i would also like to point out that it always looks clean in the pub & the toilets & garden kept nice. it will be one of our regulars from now on.

The Trumpet is at the far end of the town set back so is easy to overlook. It is a very old traditional looking pub.We were looking for something to eat at 2:30 on a Friday afternoon, and most places had stopped serving so we called into The Trumpet (on the recommendation of one of the pubs which turned us away!)The food here is very good homemade pub food. It doesn't try to be pretentious, is really well done, and is plentiful. The homemade chicken and mushroom pie is really tasty. The only drawback is that the décor is a bit jaded. However the owners have only been here 6 months and if they can improve that I would score it higher. The landlady is very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. This is a lovely pub which serves great beer and from what I've seen, great food.My wife and I dropped in during a flying visit to Evesham but we almost walked past. There is a quirky sign outside that at first glance is misleading and we thought the pub was hosting a day care centre for old men. After a second look, it was a humorous sign saying wives could leave their husbands there whilst they went shopping (I get it now). Personally, I would ditch the sign in favour of something advertising the great beers and food on offer. If you are in Evesham and want a nice pint, get yourself down to the Trumpet Inn.

Went to the Trumpet as I had heard that they had new landlords... exapected what I had in other establishments in Evesham and was completely disappointed. The mixed grill was saved by the sausages, the steak had more fat on than actual steak, the gammon was mediocre and as for the baked beans they were nothing special. We also had the Gammon Steak. Buttered peas were buttered but was very very over seasoned with Pepper. The gammon was something I'd expect from a general supermarket. The egg was completely solid.Although, the food was below standard. For what I can imagine was the owner delivered both meals without steak knives. Did not speak to us when putting the plate on our table just plonked it down. All my credit goes to the waiter/barman who was great and obviously knew how to serve a customer other then the landlord. With my advice I'd look further afield.

Having been very impressed with The Trumpet initially (shortbread with the coffee, for example) I was very disappointed that the pub was closed during the busiest weekend of the year in Evesham (the Mop). My friend and I headed for the pub expecting it to be heaving with customers and atmosphere but the owners had shut for the duration. I think this was very short-sighted as my friend and I went elsewhere and found a pub with much better atmosphere and ambience. The shortbread has gone, the menu hasn't changed, the friendly, welcoming barman has been sent behind the scenes and the landlord is not welcoming. The pub needs to up it's anti and be more of a pub than an aspiring restaurant and with a much better host.

Evesham was chosen as a half way meeting point for a family get together and we choose to eat at The Trumpet based on the positive Trip Advisor reviews. From the moment we walked in we were given a very warm welcome. We had 3 children with us and straight away the chef/owner set them off on a treasure hunt in the garden and they were rewarded with sweetie lollies. Whilst on the hunt we were able to study the menu which had a very tempting selection of lunchtime options. There is no children's menu, as such, but we were able to mix and match items from the menu to order exactly what they wanted. As the food is cooked fresh to order there was a little wait for it to arrive but when it was ready it all arrived at once. The food was delicious and all we left were empty plates. The dessert menu was very tempting so most of us opted to have a dessert as well. These were homemade and truly scrumptious. Thank you to the staff for making us all feel so welcome. I'm sure we will be back for another family catch up sometime soon.

My wife and I discovered the Trumpet Inn while visiting Evesham for a wedding. We are so glad we chose it from all the various pubs, restaurants and other eateries in the town, because it turned out to be a delightful experience in every respect. A cosy interior initially decided us to stay; the staff were welcoming and efficient; and the food was EXCELLENT - home cooked, delicious and good value for the very reasonable price. To top it all, we got chatting to some of the "regulars" who were very friendly and helped to make the whole experience such a delight. We would definitely go there again, if ever we are in the area, and thoroughly recommend the Trumpet Inn to one and all!

The two meals that my wife and I ordered were well presented, cooked perfectly and at a cost that won't break the bank account. The staff were very friendly and made you feel welcome. If your in Evesham there is only one place to dine. Ps............the drink prices are ok too.

Were staying just out of Evesham and called in on a Saturday evening to eat. It was early so the pub was quiet. The staff (think they were the hosts) were very helpful & welcoming. Food was good as was the real ale that went with it. Definitely recommend a visit.

We called into the Trumpet on the off chance it would have food (i had been there some time ago but it was very much a drinkers pub then). It was pleasently surprising with new hosts and we were made very welcome. The children (6 and 8) were comfortable and it didnt feel as if we should keep shushing them! The flowered garden at the back is a lovely sun trap and Kate brought our food out to eat there. The meal was home cooked and delicious and we'll be going back again.

I've always liked this little place on my infrequent visits to Evesham but when we stopped by for lunch Saturday last we found The Trumpet was under new management of only eight weeks. And what a transformation! Sometimes pub makeovers can leech the soul & character out of a place but this was lovely, we were made most welcome, had a superb beer and a delicious sandwich and complimented the lady chef/manager on her creative menu which she told us was all locally sourced. The Trumpet is now everything a pub should be, not trying to be a restaurant but a proper pub offering really good food. It's going to be a great success as I don't think Evesham has anything else quite like it. Shame we don't visit more often, really...

Visited here twice over Easter 2014 when the Trumpet was just under new management. We couldn't have got a friendlier welcome and, when the chef, knew about my gluten intolerance, she came out and talked to me and adapted the recipes to meet my needs (amongst other things making me a special red wine jus, instead of gravy, to go with Sunday lunch). The gluten free chocolate cake was delicious. The husband and wife managers are a great team and both the indoor and outdoor areas create a very pleasant dining atmosphere. Will definitely return when in the area and highly recommend a visit.

We had been trying to find somewhere to eat a small lunch and were having difficulty, until I saw the sign for the Trumpet, directing us to an area a little out of the way and easy to miss. The barman was extremely nice and helpful and very friendly. Although there was nothing really on the small menu for me, my husband enjoyed the scampi, whilst I just had the house salad. The salad was extremely tasty, with a number of unexpected items included, e.g. green beans; and a beautiful, light dressing. When the new landlady noticed this was all I was having, she seemed genuinely concerned and tried her very best to encourage me to suggest something I would like, that she could perhaps provide. I was tempted by the scampi which my husband had ordered and she very kindly cooked just a portion of those for me, to go with my side salad.Very kind, very nice food and naturally caring people. The place itself, although it has clearly been freshened up a bit at the front, requires something to give it a cosy, warm atmosphere. We initially walked through to the larger seating are at the rear but this just felt too 'bare'.

Thursday's grill night was worth the trip. This is exactly the sort of place that Evesham needs and has lacked in recent years. The service was good, the food was great and very good value for money. Planning to try out Champagne Friday and the Sunday lunches.

My wife and I visited The Trumpet on Merstow Green today, for lunch. We went because I had read several good reviews on Trip Advisor. We were made very welcome by the friendly, chatty man behind the bar and had soon got our coffees and the menu to peruse. The Trumpet has been around for ever, it has had more landlords than you can shake a stick at, and since the long standing tenants left in about 1980, it has never really prospered. It looks a bit tired, was very quiet, and despite being in a prime location, never quite seems to have that secret ingredient. I called this review "!Difficult" because it is very difficult to review. The staff were extremely friendly, the service quick and courteous, the food good. Sounds great, doesn't it? The trouble is, it was just another pub meal. Nothing was served that made us want to go back. The meals we had were fine, but when I am paying for food, I want better than fine, I can do fine at home for a quarter of the price, or even less.I thought £2.50 for a one cup cafetiere of coffee was a lot, but coffee is expensive these days. My scampi was nice, chips were good, and although I love watercress, a bit more salad would have been welcome. My wife's smoked salmon tart was very good and I think it was homemade. She had good chips and a much more generous salad. All in all we had a good meal for a reasonable price, not a great meal at a great price.I do feel slightly guilty as I write this, because there really was nothing wrong with the meal, it just didn't excite. I hope the new incumbents of The Trumpet stick with it and I wish them every success. Maybe we'll try it again in six months.

We popped into the Trumpet this evening intending to stay for a drink...and ended up staying for a lovely meal. Thursday is 'grill night' and the menu was lovely...I had a steak and mushroom sandwich and my husband had the ribeye...both were generous portions, cooked beautifully and very tasty. We met the new owner who was very welcoming( as was the barman) and chatted to us for a while. Lovely to have somewhere new to eat in town, we will definitely be back.

Really hoping that the pub takes off with the new owners. My friends and I had a lovely meal. The menu offers quality over multiple choices but apparently this will expand over time. And the complimentary shortbread was a nice touch with the bill! The owners definitely want to establish a good quality of food, drink and service all of which we experienced. It's lovely to have a pub/restaurant that we, living within yards of it, can feel we can make our local. We'll be going back - often!

We have visited this Inn on numerous occasions but it is now under new management. The welcome was good and the menu was, of course, new but they had tried to keep to traditional fayre - with a twist. The bread and dipping oil, served with cobnut oil and balsamic vinegar was superb and we took this option whilst deciding what to choose for lunch. We both settled for a traditional lighter option - Scampi - which was well presented and cooked to perfection. The portions are not huge - but sufficient. Quite a good selection of desert's were on the menu as well as an individual cheese board. The quality of the food seemed high and this was reflected in the taste. Good range of drinks were available at the bar too. We went at lunchtime - it was a little quiet but that it to be expected as it has only just reopened again in the last few weeks. There is no private parking but there is ample pay and display parking to the front and back of the Inn - all within very easy reach of this delightful establishment. Just lacked a little atmosphere really (perhaps some low level music??) but definitely worth a visit!

A friend suggested we visit this pub for Sunday lunch and we were certainly not disappointed. We were immediately welcomed by the Matt, the bar manager who showed us to the restaurant area and handed us the menus. We ordered the set Sunday lunch of roast beef, which arrived promptly, served by Kate (the licensee and chef) which turned out to be absolutely delicious. The pub was clean and tidy and we learned of all the improvements due to carried out in the near future. If you are looking for a clean and friendly pub with good service and delicious food, I can highly recommend the 'Trumpet Inn'

Having recently moved to Evesham we were keen to see what the pubs had to offer. There's a very mixed and interesting selection but The Trumpet Inn is definitely the best. Kate and Charles are extremely welcoming and have lots of great plans for the pub. The stylish décor is very refreshing and inviting. A great choice of drinks including local ales (Hook Norton) and a fantastic wine list. The real plus point is the food. Kate is a fabulous chef and offers very high quality meals. The menu is a mix of classics and something a bit different but whatever you choose you are guaranteed to have a great meal (at a great price). Definitely the best pub in Evesham and well worth a visit. Looking forward to seeing how the pub evolves on our many future visits in our new local. Damien & Michelle

Impressive atmosphere and décor, friendly attentive staff and superb food-what a shame I was only on a fleeting visit to Evesham! My group of 4 enjoyed a late lunch of traditional tasty pub food - Fish Pie, Sausage and Mash, Beef and Barley Stew and Courgette and Wensleydale Tart. No fuss food, but high quality ingredients and attention to detail! Great selection of Hook Norton Beers (personally prefer 'Old Hooky') and wines along with home baking and Kate's Chocolate Cake - a real must try! Beautiful, private garden to the rear; I even got a tour from the new proprietor, Charles!Good Luck to the new management - sure to be a rolling success, we will definitely be back!
